241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AI and blockchain emerging together on: October 24, 2017, 10:07:31 AM
Whatever comes up out of blockchain and AI it should be very interesting to see.

All major tech companies (and other big corporate) believe AI is the next big thing, add Blockchain to it and there you go.

Some interesting times in the tech world to come.

Google recently released info about their new AI that can program and improve itself... Things are starting to get crazy.
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO Is Really A Good Investment or Not? on: October 24, 2017, 10:05:42 AM
I think it is a good investment since its is already there from the start. Investing through ico is another way to earn bitcoin because as of now bitcoin price is too high thats why investvesting in ico gives the invetor another way to have a higher bitcoin revenue.
A lot of ICOs dump heavily after the sale though... So sometimes being in the game from the very start could turn out not to be the best move.
243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO Is Really A Good Investment or Not? on: October 24, 2017, 09:34:21 AM
Honestly, people's opinions on bitcointalk is probably the worst place to go for advice on if ICOs are worth your time or not...but here's my opinion anyway.

The days of short term flipping for huge gains are really coming to an end.
Investing in an ICO that you believe will be successful long term is risky.

...in the end, hasn't it always been better to just get more bitcoin?
Of course investing in long-term ICOs is risky. That's why the profits are so high.
The same has been true for VC in the past, which is the traditional form raising money for start-ups.
Diversification and utmost care in choosing projects is the key and will be rewarded with larger rewards than any other investment vehicle could offer. Most ICOs will fail, but that just makes it easier to pick successful ones. Granted it takes a large amount of time and effort to do this, but nothing ever comes free.
On the other hand, gamblers who ride hypes will just lose their money, so for those people it would've indeed been best to just stick with Bitcoin.
244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] ⭐ CHIMAERA - True Blockchain Gaming - Private Pre-sale Open on: October 23, 2017, 02:11:27 PM
I can't wait as well to participate in ICO, as my gpu rigs are too Smiley
Is it going to be GPU-mineable? I assumed that the "mining" was a reference to obtaining currency "in-game" as opposed to throwing a mining rig at it?

Granted I haven't finished reading the WP yet so I don't know if this has been addressed in detail somewhere.

Joining based on the team. Still working through the exact details - but the general concept has me sold and stoked.

The dashboard shows me as a "Junior" for some reason. I assume this is temporary and will automatically update within 1-2 hours, but I thought I would bring this up just to be safe. Also, from when to when are the stakes for a given week counted?

And then a few questions. Is Huntercoin still alive or was it a 30 day experiment? What have you learned from it and how is that going to bring this project forward? How sustainable do you believe this type of game will be (e.g. how long will people be able to play before they get bored or become uncapable of creating any returns)?

There are some reporting issues right now. They'll get fixed though.

Huntercoin is still alive. People play, and it's actively traded.

For lessons from Huntercoin, probably at the top was a lesson about scaling. Others as well. However, the solutions to the problems are built into Chimaera.

> How sustainable do you believe this type of game will be (e.g. how long will people be able to play before they get bored or become uncapable of creating any returns)?

That will really depend on the game. I think that they'll have greater "stickiness" than many other games though. Human Mining is a factor there, and good game design. For how long returns are made, that will depend on the economic modelling done for the game. Theoretically, they could go forever with a good economic model.

Thank you for taking the time to address all of my questions. So far everything looks great and like just the kind of thing I've been hoping for for a good portion of my life.

I used to play a game where my account ended up being worth in the six-digit range by just enjoying my time with pushing boundaries, but it wasn't something that was sustainable due to updates that broke the economy and thus the value of the ingame currency.
So basically I just need to hope that the people who will develop games through your platform will make games that are enjoyable to play beyond the economic factor.

Very excited about this overall and glad I happened to stagger across the ad on CMC.
246  Other / Off-topic / Re: Scientific proof that God exists? on: October 23, 2017, 11:40:43 AM
That would be pretty boring though. What would people argue about if we suddenly found proof?

After any god is proven, next is the Tooth Fairy.
I can confirm that the Tooth Fairy is real. I've found a dollar under my pillow on multiple occasions. Does that mean that God has already been proven?
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Italian Auction House to Allow Bidding... on: October 23, 2017, 11:39:58 AM
This is really cool. Sant'Agostino is the first auction house to let people bid and settle with Bitcoin.

This brings Bitcoin into yet another aspect of commercial and economic life..

So Awesome......
Yes, read this earlier  Smiley article is here
Still a surprising news, as I believe Italy is not among the top countries when Bitcoin is concerned, but looks like they are trying to sell to "foreigners" as well. That is cool news, no doubt.

Wonder if they're offering this option because it's cheaper and easier to process the payments from foreign bidders. But in any case, things are getting really exciting!
248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is air drop?? on: October 23, 2017, 11:38:31 AM
im a little confuse of what is airdrop i cant understand how to take a bounty for it .. If you register or Sign up for the form can you earn a coin??
Airdrops and bounties are different things.

In an airdrop, you get an amount of coins for free just by providing your address. This can help promote a project.

In a bounty campaign however, you have to complete different tasks to get a "bounty". You could call it freelancing if you wanted to, but it's called bounty on BitcoinTalk. Tasks for bounty campaigns are usually translations, signature campaigns and social media campaigns. Some people also manage projects or write technical papers such as whitepapers.
249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] ⭐ CHIMAERA - True Blockchain Gaming - Private Pre-sale Open on: October 23, 2017, 09:20:28 AM
Sad to hear, that the official pre-sale was postponed. This must have been a difficult choice, but I guess, you had your reasons. We have to wait for the new announcement then.

Just bought a few HUC today, when I realized that the snapshot had already taken place. I had some coins at Poloniex before the snapshot, unfortunately, my Poloniex HUC address is not listed in the snapshot converter. Is this a common issue? Will Poloniex still transfer some CHI after launch?

Keep up your great work, kind regards,
Halcyon D.
Hi Halcyon,

Your poloniex deposit address will not appear on the snapshot converter, this is because poloniex moves the HUC they receive into another internal address.
But don't worry, poloniex will give said they would give everyone their CHI automatically, you don't need to do anything.
They have their own snapshot and will use this to distribute their CHI to their users. (Unless they go against their word and decide not to do it)
Ah, that's what the snapshot was about. Nice to see that old supporters are getting rewarded for their trust.
250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: New Waves roadmap on: October 22, 2017, 05:13:41 PM
Waves is definitely something to look out, the current price now is totally a steal if based on satoshi value

Waves has a good blockchain, good platform to use tbh
Have you used the Waves DEX? It's pretty bad right now and completely unusable for any serious trader. Which is also why the volume is so low. The proposition is nice, but so far they didn't deliver.

I'm still waiting for a useful decentralized exchange and I'm hoping that Waves will put out soon, in which case the price would surely skyrocket. But this day hasn't come yet.
251  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or gold? on: October 22, 2017, 05:08:21 PM
Given the conditions, I would choose gold over bitcoins because of the fact that gold is there into existence since ever while bitcoins are just new inventions. Also, bitcoin are more fluctuative compared to gold in value.
Sure, Bitcoin is more volatile. But its value also steadily increases at a faster rate than that of Gold does. Furthermore, just because Gold is tangible doesn't mean its more valuable. Ideas are the most worthwhile resource on this planet in this century, which is why companies like Facebook and Google are so widely successful despite not really moving anything physical around.
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO Is Really A Good Investment or Not? on: October 22, 2017, 05:06:52 PM
ICO's are a double edged sword, you need to do extensive research before investing in one as most of them are either linked to scams, vapourware and all sorts of ponzi schemes. Typically these ICO's are bought on a low price and the tokens are dumped once it hits exchanges. If you're lucky they may go up (like Tenx, OMG), although a dump is always imminent after a few hundred percent gains so always protect your investment by taking out your capital first once your in profit.

Another thing you might want to consider instead of ICO's are airdrops. These are coins given for free as a marketing effort and adoption of the coin by the market. ll you need to do is meet the requirements that they impose and you are able to receive your own share of the tokens. One good project to look at as of the moment is the DeepOnion airdrop. They don't have an ICO and it's totally airdrop based, you just need to apply and pass the required number of posts for members. They have a really strong community and a growing number of supporters right now, so you might want to check them out here in BCT. You can also check their official website at deeponion.org, their community forum at https://deeponion.org/community.

I see Deep Onion everywhere... Isn't it a signature campaign though? Also, what makes it so special that it has such a huge community?
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to get mobo to see more than 2 GPUs on: October 22, 2017, 01:32:13 PM
I'm not 100% sure about this, but I believe you can change the lanes in the bios of your motherboard. Basically, you'll want to assign less lanes per card than the typical x16 PCIE.

Posting on here to keep up with the ANN easier. Don't have any questions that I haven't asked in the Bounty thread right now.
255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Straight after the fork, will Bitcoin be dumped hard like the last time? on: October 22, 2017, 01:19:31 PM
Seems like the most likely event to take place. People have withdrawn their alt profits into Bitcoin for the fork to get free Bitcoin Gold. So the altcoin market is going to be anxious for new bull runs following the fork.
256  Other / Off-topic / Re: Scientific proof that God exists? on: October 22, 2017, 01:03:07 PM
Oh my scientifically proven to exist God.    Cool

If only...

The debate about whether god exists could be solved instantly if we found any proof at all.

That would be pretty boring though. What would people argue about if we suddenly found proof?

Quote
Token Details
Properties and Securities
This token is property. Similar to any other property people may purchase (such as jewelry, art or
collectible cards), it’s value may increase or decrease based on supply and demand. BTCMoon is not a
Security.
Of course prices are decided by supply and demand. However, these types of cloned coins aren't comparable to "property" like jewelry, art or anything.

They have no tangible value and nothing that sets them apart from Bitcoin, Ethereum or the like and thus create no demand outside of pure speculation.

Just about everything that uses the "big names" to sell itself is no more than a gambler's token and is best left ignored.

259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO Is Really A Good Investment or Not? on: October 22, 2017, 12:48:05 PM
Hello, Friends...

I Recently listen about the ICO (Initial Coin Offerings)! But I'm confused, Is it a Right Investment or Not?

Anyone Suggests me!
Depends on the ICO. Most of them seem to just be here to ride the crypto hype wave.

But there are a few that seem like they really want to see their idea flourish. And within those there are some that actually seem like they could succeed too that also have a realistic idea with a lot of potential.

The most important thing is to not listen to what others say on this forum and to make up your own mind. Invest in what you like and understand and never invest more than you are willing to lose.
260  Other / Off-topic / Re: Scientific proof that God exists? on: October 19, 2017, 12:43:40 PM
Problem is, you can call it many many different things, there is no value in calling it god just like there is no value in calling it an alien from another dimension or a computer program simulation, all of those would be perfectly legitimate too then but what's the point, we don't have sufficient evidence for any of them and we may never have, at least in our lifetimes. I recognize the possibility of a intelligent creator, there is no evidence that something like that could exist but because there is also no evidence it does I simply don't believe it. The problem I have is people who actually say they KNOW or they have PROVED god existence when it's simply not true. I'm not an atheist and I really don't like to label anyone with silly tags.
By your argument, you could also say that there is no value in calling it "Big Bang", "the universe", "everything" or "empty space". Which is just simply false. Depending on the circumstances you need to adapt your language to get a message across. You usually can't hope to speak Spanish to a Chinese person. Using different terminology for the same thing is no different.
And again, when it comes to "proof", it simply doesn't exist. You can not prove anything whatsoever. You can collect evidence, and it might be enough to get everyone to move on with their lives and to assume that they've figured something out. But in the end, no amount of evidence will ever be conclusive and thus will never constitute as an ultimate proof.
Anyone who claims to have proof of anything either uses the term loosely or doesn't know what they are talking about.

No, you totally misunderstood what I said just like badecker didn't even attempt to understand because he knows I'm right. The point is that big bang was a name given to something that was observed, all the evidence led to that assumption and the assumption was simply called big bang and it could have been called anything. God on the other hand is not like that, we didn't observe him, we don't have evidence for him. The point is that god is like ghost or like demon or any other imaginary creature you can find, we never observed them, we don't have evidence for them, their descriptions are made up, big bang's description is not made up, is backed up by science and evidence so even if it was called big poop it would still have the same qualities and description that are real. There is no point in saying the creator of the universe is god when we don't know what god is, I think that's pretty simple to understand. The logic is circular, you are saying the creator of the universe is god and then you are describing god as the creator of the universe, no information is gained from this, you might as well call it holly poop, what do I care? If we don't know what it really is, then there is no point.
The big bang is not something that was observed whatsoever... That statement makes the rest of your post largely irrelevant since it indicates that you don't even understand what the Big Bang really is about. And as far as misunderstandings go, it's obvious that you haven't gotten my point, since you're just rephrasing the same false statement that I've already addressed previously.
You're also putting words into my mouth that I've never said or implied.

No, the big bang has evidence that backs it up, god DOES NOT, neither have been observed, ton of things haven't been observed because it's impossible, the point again is that god is something made up and the big bang is not, whether you want to understand that or not it's up to you.
The big bang is made up. It's just one hypothetical concept that could possibly explain the creation of the universe. There are various competing hypothesis other than the big bang as well and nobody knows which one is actually true. And that doesn't even take into account the fact that even if the big bang started our universe, we wouldn't know anything about what caused the big bang itself. Which is where the post I've made two posts earlier comes in, that clearly went way over your head. You don't know what you are talking about and you refuse to go back, sit down and try to figure it out instead of just rephrasing the same false statement yet another time.

Let me say something first, I'm not claiming the big bang is exactly what happened but the big bang is not hypothetical is a theory (and you told me I don't know what I'm talking about, go figure lol) I'm not a big bang expert whatsoever nor I am a scientist but it is the most prevailing theory for the existence of the universe. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Bang#Observational_evidence There is a lot of evidence to support it, again I'm not claiming it is exactly what happened and it is true that we don't know what happened before the big bang. My point again was simply that even If I agree with badecker that the universe needs a creator, we don't know what the creator is and we don't gain anything by saying it's god and describing god as the creator of the universe, there is no information gained from that, there is no observational evidence for god.

Look, I've repeatedly pointed out that I understand exactly where you're coming from and that you keep repeating it with different words. You can just keep saying the same stuff over and over, even though you know yourself that you're no scientist and thus don't really understand the details of the hypothesis of the big bang, or you can actually take some time to re-read my initial post attentively and actually try to get my point (which you currently clearly do not). The devil is in the details, and you've skimmed over my post so quickly that you've completely missed the point and based all of your further comments on your assumption of what you believe I've said.
