2402  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on [BTC-TC] on: November 11, 2013, 11:58:14 PM
If you look at the history of this thread, everyone said I handled the GLBSE to BTC-TC migration better than anyone else, and I plan on doing no worse than that with the migration off of BTC-TC. I will hopefully have a detailed update today with where we are moving and the exact date we will be online!

thanks for the update garr, hopefully the ball gets rolling soon...

Does anyone know if it is OK to connect 2 of my modules from Jupiter 1 to Jupiter 2. I will move just the ribbon data cables over, so Jupiter 2 has 6 modules connected to it, but 2 of these are still powered by Jupiter 1 PSU.

Anyone?

I am sure you'll eventually try it, so let us know how it goes!  I am suprised you have a board that actually supports 6 connections, my day 1 jup only has 4.

I just did. 6 boards using all 6 connection, using 1 V850 PSU.

that is really handy to know! considering I am a PSU short but have 4 Wink
2406  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Inputs.io HACKED, 4 100 BTC STOLEN - REFUND DISCUSSION THREAD on: November 11, 2013, 01:14:52 PM
I think we are all fucked up, he just ran that ad campaign to get more people to store theyr funds on inputs.io, and then strike when everything is right.

I've only lost 0.0023, I am smart enough to keep my funds at a regular QT wallet, may be long to get the chain on your HDD but worth the time.

A little story by elasticband.

Once upon a time there was a learned young Elasticband, he read about this thing called bitcoin, WOW he thought! No longer did he have to store his wealth in the banks he did not trust and knew nothing about, hell who even runs the bank he banked at, why should he trust this person, was his wealth at risk of being effected by bailouts? Well the young Elasticband discovered bitcoin where he could take control of his own wealth, the young Elasticband never looked back.

Two years later the Elasticband learns bitcoin users stored their coins in a bitcoin bank where they knew very little about the owner of the bank and the bank was hacked, the owner uses none hacked funds to help compensate hacked users, everyone has some of their wealth stolen. this reminds the Elasticband of why he got in to Bitcoin and what owning and using a bitcoin wallet really mean.

THE END

sad story i know folks, i hope you can all learn something from this.

14. Long-time forum VIP member, not disclosed his bitcoin holdings but estimate is based on several anecdotal evidence such as 400,000 LTC holding which is secondary to BTC holding, and BTC5,000 bet with Matthew that the latter defaulted.

400,000LTC x 0.01188BTC = 4752.00 BTC. Not sure how this equates to goats second largest holding being 30,000BTC.

2411  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitcoin.de + Fidor Bank on: November 11, 2013, 12:21:52 PM
Today Bitcoin.de announced a partnership with Fidor Bank AG.

Source: http://blog.bitcoin.de/en/bitcoin-de-und-fidor-bank-ag-vereinbaren-weitgehende-partnerschaft

Anybody knows what the impact of this will be ? What services will Fidor Bank offer to bitcoin users ?
Oliver Flaskaemper seems to do his homework regarding legal risks...Germany gets more and more interesting for bitcoin investors.
Good news, this is a reputable bank. SEPA should also go quick through them.

look at the date of the post above yours, it might give you an indication of how old this news is to the community

2416  Economy / Speculation / Re: What part of the First Selloff are we at right now? on: November 11, 2013, 10:37:38 AM
what happened 6 months ago or 2 years ago is irrelevant, so many factors have changed since then.
2417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So I went down to the bitcoin ATM today... on: November 11, 2013, 10:28:11 AM
I had a similar thing with a local meet, i sold the guy 1 bitcoin, then afterwards he told me it was to pay a hacker, he himself new nothing about bitcoin he had just been told that is what the hacker accepted.

I asked if he was in trouble of any kind and he said no it was personal and it was left at that..... i guess some people just see it as another form of sending money like western union, paypal or ukash.
