And also having rule like "Posts in a thread after 100 replies won't be counted for paid post" will bring a huge change.

What if the threads get more interesting every time when a user replies on it? As long as it's a quality post even it's in a spam thread, it should be considered.

If you're a good poster and tried to post on a spam thread, there's a possibility to change the mood on the discussion. Instead of shitposts, it might change due to your intellectual statements. Also, not all of the 100 replies thread are full of spams and shitposts, I already saw a thread with multiple pages that consist of technical and analytical statements. In a thread, there are different kinds of posters, some of them are just spamming and some are trying to make quality posts that will engage in good discussions.
2402  Other / Meta / Re: implementation of reporter badge? on: August 18, 2019, 05:04:13 PM
Reporter badge, if does not have appropriate algorithm, might cause another type of abusement, and shady attacks.
Someone whom hate the forum, for whatsoever reasons, merit system, new rank requirements, might use their newbie accounts to do massive spam, then use their other accounts to run spam-report attacks.

I doubt people will do create accounts just for this dumb action. There's a lot of shitposters in a different discussion, they should go there instead of creating accounts for spam-reports. Just a waste of time Roll Eyes

do you really need badges to motivate you do the right things? just keep on reporting,
Badges certainly aren't needed, but they would provide incentive for people to do more reporting.  I have no doubt about that, because a badge would be recognition of an achievement of sorts, much like forum rank is or merits or trust.

Agree, There are users wanted to get every single achievement on this forum. There's nothing we can do but to support those people who aim to be better in this community by acquiring achievements.
2403  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about Bitcoin and the games industry? on: August 18, 2019, 04:48:24 PM

I really don't know if OP is talking about using the blockchain technology in the the gaming industry or whether if the gaming industry has already accepted the use of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment, but if it's the latter, I know there are lots of gaming platforms that accepts cryptos as a means of payment.

Actually, the OP is referring to both,
Hey guys, I was wondering about Bitcoin, blockchain and cryptos in general and their relation to the games industry

I've already come up thinking about the usage of blockchain technology to some gaming platforms. It seems that gaming industries don't need transparency feature or network that will develop the server of a game. They usually prioritize the development of the game itself to have better gaming experience. But I hope there's a use of blockchain in the game soon, I know it will give a big change in the gaming industry.

So the most common thing that gaming devs focusing is the structure of the game and how will people buy those in-game items, so they implement the usage of bitcoin as payment.
2404  Local / Pamilihan / Re: [Gabay] Mabisang kasanayan para sa proteksyon ng iyong Email on: August 18, 2019, 04:28:33 PM
So keyloggers, I know some of you already read about this when it comes to BTC related topics pero usually pang-lahatan talaga 'to. You can see keyloggers in many places especially sa mga public computer shop. Even a kid can make a simple keylogger then naka-insert yung maliit na usb sa mga public computer shop or kahit saan pang pwede paglagyan then It will acquire a lot of private accounts lalo na sa mga similar lang ang password at email sa lahat ng social media accounts.
Actually, there are keyloggers that hide itself from Task Manager and there's also a keylogger that cannot be seen in Control Panel > Uninstall/Install a Program or "Add or Remove programs" or Hide from the PC's Subject.

Yes, ang mga keyloggers naman kasi hindi mo basta basta makikita or madedelete, sometimes you need a tool or cmd (command prompt) just to delete those. I didn't mentioned on my past posts pero hindi lang din sa task manager nagtatago ang mga keyloggers, minsan nakasingit na ito sa windows folder. So how to remove keyloggers?

  • Update Operating System
  • check your start up in the task manager kung merong mga suspicious app
  • check msconfig
  • Should have a reputable AV, mas recommended ko yung windows defender.

snip-
Security Update was also a big factor, kung windows user ka then windows defender is the best one. Huwag ng mag-download ng iba pang 3rd party software for your PC.

Always on the notification and sync in your Gmail account to your mobile phone para malalaman niyo mga recent events. Comfortable tayo kapag safe Gmail natin kasi isa itong mahalagang bagay para sa atin and do advice and suggestion above, then your Gmail account will be fine.

Smart phones are super vulnerable kaya minsan kahit naka-maximum security ka and updated yung phone, it's possible for the hackers to get some information to your account. Mas posible ang 3rd party apps sa smart phones compared sa PC, and ang mas worse don is nasa browser lang din.

Did you ever tried to check your data in your smart phones? Minsan magugulat ka nalang ang daming unfamiliar files.
2405  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: [Gabay] Paano mabawi ang nahacked, nalocked o nawalang account on: August 18, 2019, 04:14:17 PM
You're back now @AdoboCandies!
--

Bakit? Kasi kapag gumamit ka ng Secret Question, it will just lock your account at hindi mo magagamit yung account mo unless nag request ka for recovery sa Bitcoin Account Recovery Team.

If you still have your email, mas better nalang na gamitin yon kaysa sa Secret Question kapag nakalimutan niyo password niyo.
I hope this helps!

do you really need badges to motivate you do the right things? just keep on reporting,
so when the badges out you already have enough good report counts for one Wink
maybe theymos is still figuring out how to protect the badge award system from abuse
because people could make new accounts just to spam, so his main account can report it Lips sealed

I'm thinking generally, some people don't want to report things because they didn't care at all. So thinking about a simple motivation, it will help to encourage all of the users to report those spam and shitpost. Let's be honest, if theymos didn't open up the thread about reporters badge, some people will just ignore the report button. There are only a few people who are members of spam busters who digging every discussion just to diminish all of the spam/shit posts.

When it comes to me, I don't need any motivation, I'm already doing my best because being here is one of my passion.  Wink

There's probably a good reason why it hasn't been implemented yet. It's unclear what the reasons are, but something has probably got the attention of theymos. Although, a very neat addition to the forum I wouldn't class it as high priority. Hopefully, we see some higher threshold reporting badges now that there's several users on the forum with 30k+ reports. I'd like a very high one just to encourage users to continue reports as I feel 5k reports is easy to get within a very small amount of time. At least if we had say a 100k one it would potentially spur users on to keep reporting.

Yes, there's a lot of users who have 10k good reports already so it's better to make it in 100k or more since every month there are thousands of post that have been made by sig spammers and shitposters
2407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto reveal, aug 18th? on: August 18, 2019, 03:54:55 PM
Satoshi has owned an international forum which is this platform so if there's an announcement regarding his/her actions, I think he will prioritize this. Everyone's getting curious about him even me and I hope we should also know the fact that a known person due to his/her creation will never show his/her own face easily to the public.

Regarding about Craig Wright, I also doubt him to be satoshi, it's just a publicity stunt to get the attention of all people.
2408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about Bitcoin and the games industry? on: August 18, 2019, 03:41:50 PM
You're outdated, there's a lot of gaming platform now that used bitcoin as the payment method to buy games and in-game items.
If you remember steam, they allow bitcoin as their payment and it's quite useful for me since I'm a gamer too who usually buy games a lot.

But recently, they stop this method;
Quote
Steam stops accepting payments in bitcoins. Online game service Steam has stopped accepting payments made with the Bitcoin virtual currency.

If a company having a hard time to adopt bitcoin, it will have lost in the market due to its sudden change.
I hope they figure it out 'cause the bitcoin payment method was very reliable since we're paying 1:1 on the game.
--
Regarding the other gaming platforms that adopt bitcoin, I hope they do their best to maintain since eSports was very mainstream today and bitcoin was also reaching its peak.
2409  Other / Meta / implementation of reporter badge? on: August 17, 2019, 11:46:37 PM
Since bitcoin is getting lively again, there are so many users that came here to join bounty campaigns. There's massive spam happening right now in the different discussion boards; Altcoin Discussion, Bitcoin Discussion, Gambling Discussion and many more.

I hear every now and then that Bitcoin discussion / Trading discussion / Gambling discussion / altcoin discussion (and many others) are considered as spam sections.
So I think it's the time to implement the reporter badges to motivate all the users to report those spam and shitpost on different discussion boards. It's been a year when theymos started to seek an icon/image for these badges and many users tried to send their entries, now is the time to use those icons. Any thoughts?

2410  Other / Meta / Re: [LOG] The ranked up members - Congratulations! on: August 17, 2019, 11:24:27 PM
Weekly update.
cryptovigi, finaleshot2016 and Baofeng who are active in polish and philippine local boards respectively have been promoted to Hero Members.

I didn't see @cryptovigi on our community and I don't think he/she was part of our local board.
I checked his/her profile and Polish is the local board he/she came from.
--

Congratulations to everyone especially to @Baofeng, I barely see him in our local in the past months because he's active on Beginners & Help section but now I think he's on the move.  Cheesy
2411  Other / Meta / Re: Spam Sections on: August 17, 2019, 07:33:02 PM
if the campaign manager is reputed and does his responsibility well, it is hard for spammers to remain in the campaign.
The current problem we are facing is many of the campaign managers aren't running their campaigns effectively. The majority of the altcoin campaigns are very poorly managed, and let just about anyone join them with no sort of moderation at all. The Bitcoin ones seem to be generally managed a little better overall, and we all know who the good managers of the forum are.

In a perfect world we would have good campaign managers for all the campaigns, but that's never going to be a reality unless restrictions are placed on posting signature campaigns.

I definitely agree! Most of the campaigns now, even the high-paying campaigns do have low-quality posters. It's such a disgrace if they're receiving a high payment but their posts are like a newbie. Those participants that are on paying campaigns should avoid posting in altcoin discussion. There are no healthy discussions produced on that section, more like it's just a spam area. Most of the campaigns require to have a constructive post but still, some participants aren't aware of that rule.

Altcoins signature campaigns are trash and most of them are scams. I doubt that the altcoin discussion will be managed and organized unless they implement another rule or system to avoid shitposting on mentioned discussions.
2412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We need a movie about Bitcoin on: August 17, 2019, 06:54:14 PM
I think it's possible but few people will watch this.

We need to more exposure regarding bitcoin but it's more effective if the movie focuses on blockchain, the technology itself. Through this movie, those people that watched the movie will have an idea about it and will engage in innovative studies.

Another advantage of this is to produce a good impression to people that is ignorant about advanced technology like the blockchain and the bitcoin. Now, they will learn and know the possibilities of blockchain can do in our society. It will engage those people to adopt the usage of bitcoin especially in our daily transactions.
2413  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the Lightning Network save bitcoin? on: August 17, 2019, 05:19:30 PM
I made a topic about Lightning Network.
You can view it here, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5169787.0
use page translator so you can understand what we've said in there.
--

So basically, Lightning Network was one of the layer 2 solutions for the bitcoin scalability problem. IMO, I find it more useful because it helps us to avoid traffic in the blockchain and it's easier. But I think the usage of this network was limited for those who know each other or company. It's kind risky because of the security, there is a possibility that you might lose your money since it's not included in the blockchain itself.

It doesn't affect the BTC price value and not a threat on the existing network but still, we must support the blockchain network. Some people said that the idea of Satoshi might die due to this method but I don't think it will happen.

2414  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Blockchain and Crypto Related Jobs on: August 17, 2019, 04:51:18 PM

If galing ka sa IT or kahit anong tech-related course, blockchain system was a little bit easy kung pag aaralan mo kasi hindi ka na magsisimula from the scratch. Actually, akala natin sobrang complex ng blockchain but if you knew the whole idea how it process, you can make your own blockchain.

Basta alam mo yung pinagmulan, you can easily create a blockchain system, kahit gawin mo lang siya sa database ng isang company.  Kaya naniniwala ako na kahit IT lang siya or medyo outdated sa advanced technology, isang seminar lang yan sa kanila at once malaman nila yung main idea of blockchain, they can easily create one.

Don't belittle the experiences, like what i've said, pag alam nila yung main idea, through their knowledge at kahit sinaunang programming language pa yan, they will manage to create a blockchain. I'm not an IT pero I have friends na magagaling din sa programming, may mga tao kasi na passion talaga ang pag-program kaya posible. Even satoshi, through his experiences about programming at nakaisip siya ng idea, he managed to create the blockchain technology. I knew some people na kahit hindi nakapag-aral pero they have experiences sa bagay na yon, they still manage to do great things.

2415  Other / Off-topic / Re: Web Development on: August 17, 2019, 03:19:44 PM
I'm not a web developer though but are you looking into a tracking system for logistics that's viewable on browser?

Tracking system for logistics is kinda basic one.
I like something complex than that and yeah it's viewable on browser.
2416  Other / Off-topic / Web Development on: August 17, 2019, 11:31:42 AM
Do you have any ideas on web development projects? Something complex.

I also wanted to input a localization feature which uses GPS. Do you have any ideas with that?
Since nabanggit na nung iba especially yung 2FA which is ang pinaka secured way para walang ibang tao maka-access ng email mo, i'll add some things na pang-general.

Security Update was also a big factor, kung windows user ka then windows defender is the best one. Huwag ng mag-download ng iba pang 3rd party software for your PC. It will secure your PC sa mga malwares especially sa mga keylogger na nabanggit ko.

Protection of email wasn't a new thing today, most of us created email during yahoomail era diba? Mostly ginagamit ang email kapag sa money transaction so it's better to do manual transaction than digital transaction if you knew that it's not safe. You should have 1 email for private transactions and multiple emails para pang-verification or iba pang platforms. I have almost 24+ emails, not sure, and lahat yan nagagamit ko at naka-save sa PC ko. I didn't encountered any hacking since dati pa dahil alam ko ang do's and don'ts pagdating sa electronics, kahit walang 2FA then alam mo ginagawa mo, safe yan.
2418  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How you guys are making money from this forum? ideas on: August 16, 2019, 06:03:00 PM
There are many kinds of ways to earn money here.
  • Bounty in Altcoins
  • BTC Campaigns
  • Services

In the bounty section, you can see a lot of bounties you can do to earn profit but it's not recommendable since altcoin section now are full of scam projects. There's a lot of scammers already and you might become a victim since you lack knowledge about here. So it's best to learn and focus on the knowledge and I assure you that you'll grow to through this.

Campaigns that pays Bitcoin are very rare and they're picking only quality members. To be a quality member, you should have a lot of merits that shows you've done a lot of quality post. Being a reputable member of this forum is a very big deal so you should be good and responsible for whatever you'll do. So it's recommended to learn first then focusing on bounties, it will just lead you to failure.

Service Section is where you can offer your service. For example, you're a graphic designer, you can post those specific details that you can do. There are designs like Signature designs that cost very expensive. I hope you shouldn't focus on bounties because it's not the reason why they create the forum, it's for those who wanted to learn about the creation of satoshi.
2419  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: August 16, 2019, 05:27:38 PM
Why give @theymos so much Merit in this post? Huh He has no need for it  Grin Grin Grin

Keep those Merits for us!
They say that to quell the beast, the sources must supply it with merit for each new feature created. 'Tis a curse and a blessing indeed.
Also, we should give thanks or appreciate all of the efforts of the admin for maintaining and sustaining our community through different systems. Theymos is still a member of the community, he can receive merits even though he's our admin and besides, we are the one to decide where those merits will go.

If you don't find where to spend merits, then spend it on theymos' posts.
2420  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: i just thought something about campaign on: August 15, 2019, 06:24:35 PM
fix your quotation.
I think he is saying that there is an airdrop component in the merits gained by some senior members when they increased rank. I was a Hero when the system was introduced, so I received 500 merits, and thus, I only needed an additional 500 "earned" merit to gain Legendary status.
I'm referring to his/her quotation, not the statement.  Cheesy
and regarding that statement, I already knew that.

That's what I also said in here;
No one ranked up through airdropped merits because they already received the respective merits equivalent to their rank. For example, if you're a full member before the merit system implementation, you'll receive 100 airdropped merits. So it means if they achieved the rank, it's through earning merits since the introduction of the merit system. I'm one of those people who are close to being a Sr. Member and the merit system serve as the barricade for me to rank up.
He's saying that some members get ranked up after receiving the airdropped merits so I'm trying to debunk it.
