2421  Local / إستفسارات و أسئلة المبتدئين / Re: محافظ البتكوين واستخداماتها on: May 24, 2021, 11:52:07 PM

2422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is your electrical cost/kWh on: May 24, 2021, 11:02:29 PM
I live in california and the average teir without mining is .33/kWh. With mining it jumps to the .49/kWh.

What is that 49 cents or 4.9 cents? if it's the latter then you have got a very decent power rate, if it's the former, no luck.

I think the only question that matters is how much do miners in China pay per Kwh, I honestly can't find any rationalism in mining bitcoin if your rate isn't close to those in China, one might get away with a bit of difference but if it's more than double, they should just forget about mining altogether.

We know the average price in China is anywhere between 1-5 cents depending on the season, to be on the safe side, you should work with 3-4 cents, if your power rate is around that or slightly higher (maybe up to 6-7c) you have a good chance of making a profit in the long run, if your power rate is 10c or higher, you will need a lot of luck to be profitable and once you redo the math you will figure out that in most cases, you would have made more profit by simply buying the coin directly.
2423  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Were you mining in China? now you can mine with us. on: May 24, 2021, 10:15:02 AM
So you are expecting the Chinese to send their mining gears to your "farm"? The mining ban fud has been going on since 2017 or probably earlier than that, mining generates a huge income, the Chinese government gets a good chunk of it, mining in China will not stop.
2424  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BT Mining Difficulty on: May 23, 2021, 02:56:10 PM
Unless you plan on buying 1000 miners and up, which I will assume is not the case, the chances of you finding a block are so slim you might not mine a block before the gear starts breaking down, so pool mining is your only option.

Even 1000 miners aren't good for solo mining, in fact not even 10 times that amount is "safe" for solo mining, and as the hash rate grows, you will face the risk of never finding a block for the lifespan of those gears, honestly, at this point, it's safe to assume that nobody can solo mine, at least, not those who have to ask the question, there are probably a few entities out there who are capable of solo mining ( you can probably list them in less minute or so) but we all know those won't be asking such a question online.

Hi Smiley

Something new?

Check the pinned thread regarding Asic miner repair services, I have updated the list and added Myrig to the list after they have been vouched for by a few members, of course, I am not responsible for any loss you may encounter, I am trying to maintain a list of services for the community to use and I do my best to list only the trusted services, but you should deal with everybody mentioned there at your own risk.
2426  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: May 21, 2021, 10:44:56 PM
Depends on the voltage standard in your area. If it's "only" drawing 24 watts that means you're running it in 120V North America. In other places that use 220V like Europe it's going to take 44W.

If this was the case, why would anyone use 220v over 110v, you pay your electrical bill based on the KwH consumption which is directly related to the wattage, it would be cheaper to get a step-down transformer and run everything at the lowest voltage possible.

As Haqqs mentioned, electrical engineering is complicated, electricity consumption on the other hand is rather simple, if it says 1000w on the label and assuming it's accurate, it will always print 1000w on your meter regardless of the voltage, the voltage will affect the amps (lower voltage = higher amps).

But if you are interested in calculating the amps (which is pretty irrelevant for this case) I = W / V where I is the current in amps, W is the wattage and V is the voltage, so if something consumes 220w on a 220v circuit, it will draw 1 amp, if you run it on a 110v it will draw 2 amps (220/110 = 2), but of course this is sort of oversimplifying the subject to give you the general idea.
2427  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Broken S17+ PSU on: May 21, 2021, 10:06:10 PM
Ignoring the breaker issue and assuming the breaker trips because it was too small for the current needed, based on my own experience, it's very common for a single fan to stop the whole PSU from working, you have 2 fans next to each other and 1 fan which is on the other side, the one which is located alone should be working fine, the other two both need to be good to spin, so what you can do is use the plug from the single fan to test the other two fans, if all 3 fans are good you need to replace the PSU, otherwise, if one of the fans is bad you just replace the fan.
2428  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Where to fix your Asic miners. on: May 21, 2021, 07:03:39 PM

I added Myrig to the list of services in the U.S, I tried getting their address but nothing is mentioned on their website, which state/city did you send the miners to for repair?
2429  Local / العربية (Arabic) / Re: شركة تيسلا تعلن عن قبول البيتكوين كوسيلة د on: May 19, 2021, 09:05:41 PM

2430  Local / العربية (Arabic) / Re: شركة تيسلا تعلن عن قبول البيتكوين كوسيلة د on: May 19, 2021, 10:05:32 AM

Quote

Well that's an improvement, you went from a complete dead miner to 1/3 of the total hashrate

2021-05-17 20:22:52 driver-btm-api.c:1134:check_asic_number_with_power_on: Chain[2]: find 0 asic, times 0

Chain 2 is likely dead and it is not much you can do about it, chain 0 shows all 65 Asics but has a temp-sensor error, the temp-sensor error is mostly not due to a temp-sensor but rather a bad chip or a bad PSU, the same thing could apply for chain 2 since now chain 1 is hashing well, we know the PSU is good for at least 1 hash board, what you should do is unplug chain 0 and 1 and run chain 2 only, then unplug chain 1 and 2 and run chain 0 only, this will ensure that the issue isn't PSU related.
2432  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 hashboard diagnosis on: May 18, 2021, 07:55:46 AM
I get that sometimes single chips fail and that's that... replacing the chip is a bit of a PITA. But by now I've come across several boards that work fine and all of the sudden they're dead - as in draw no more power, no red power-light on the hashplate, 0 chips found.
What component actually fails in such cases?

The majority of the time it's the chips themselves the fail, usually 1 chip at a time, and the way these hash boards are made, 1 bad chip will stop the whole hash board from mining, replacing the chip will need a few tools and a bit of skill, there are many topics around here related to that, youtube also has a ton of videos, and if you want the techy stuff - head to Zeusbtc and download the S9 repair manual.

With that being said, if you have no previous experience fixing electronics, it will be very hard to worth with these hashbaords.
2433  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Where can I buy miners? on: May 18, 2021, 07:43:37 AM
Obviously this forum not my selling main battlefield

This does not change the fact that you are trying to sell your mining gears here without accepting escrow and without having any history around here, with all due respect, to me, you are more likely to be a scammer than a legit seller, and I am sure most folks would agree.

if you really want to buy please check below site, its safe.
http://alibaba.com

Alibaba is far from safe, while it's unlikely to be directly scammed, the gears most sellers on Alibaba will send you will be either not what you paid for or defective gears, getting the seller to refund you the money will be a nightmare, and the safe-trade or trade-assurance b.s will only work if you are a Chinese, it will be extremely difficult to get Alibaba to stand with you against a Chinese seller, if you want to take that risk, it's on you.
2434  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Where can I buy miners? on: May 16, 2021, 10:17:52 PM
Never heard miner seller offer COD or Escrow due to coin value fluctuations too fast.

There is no such thing, you are guaranteed to get paid the amount agreed on when the escrow is done with their part, the price fluctuations are irrelvent.

No offense that some of our clients here was registered earlier than you which their level also legendary.

Account rank can be irrelevant, many of the old era legendary accounts changed hands a dozen times, I am not sure why do you have to mention that your alleged clients registered here before me, it's off-topic, but just to piss you off I would like to let you know that I am top 10 most earned merit, DT member and highly trusted, my account is more trusted than a dozen other legendary accounts combined, and even with that - I don't go around the forum selling mining gears without offering the option of escrow.

I do not care who your clients are, if you are counting on getting a vouch from 1 or 2 random legendary members that nobody around here trusts - it will be useless, those accounts are sold for pretty cheap all over the internet, if you are going to bring someone here to vouch they need to be trusted, there is probably less than 50 members whose vouch will count, the rest will be useless and you still have to use escrow if you want to sell your stuff here.
2435  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Where can I buy miners? on: May 16, 2021, 02:36:46 PM
we accept crypto currency paying and there is some other Miner available you can check with https://www.minerbrother.com.

But nobody here knows you, it's safe to assume that it's pretty risky to deal with you, the majority of asic miners sellers are scammers, so this is nothing personal, you should offer the use of forum escrow or cash-on-delivery if you are serious about selling your miners.
2436  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer T17 issue - Socket connect failed: Connection refused on: May 16, 2021, 11:12:29 AM
Please use the code tag to post kernel log, it looks terrible this way.

It appears that this miner might have mixed hashboards with different EPROM data, what you should do is try to run the miner with 1 hash board at the time, or use custom firmware like Vnish which ignores the EEPROM.

2437  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer T17 - Stuck on troubleshooting where the error is on: May 16, 2021, 08:09:30 AM
If I understand correctly, I can apply 21v to the boards metal clamps (with +/- on the correct place offcourse), and then measure the testpoints on the board?

I don't that is possible without a tester/fixture tool, my understanding is that the current won't flow in the hashboard without a control board, and the normal control board will only supply the hashboard with power for a very short period of time, it will stop once the asic count fails, so you have a very short window to test, I am not sure if that is doable, but I guess it is if you perfectly time when does the current flow based on the kernel log or x seconds from powering on.

The main feature of the fixture tools despite their brand is that they keep the current on the hash board for as long as you want it to be there so you can measure the voltage around the chips, I think it would be best to reach out to wndsnb to confirm the above.
2438  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer T17 - Stuck on troubleshooting where the error is on: May 15, 2021, 08:19:21 AM
Are the outlets on the control-board ALWAYS the same chain no., or do they alter depending on how the boards / how many boards that are connected?

It has been a while since I played with these gears, but IIRC they will always display the same chain, it would be best if you just troubleshoot them 1 by 1 to avoid confusion.

Quote
4. Started up the miner and chain 1 now found all the 30 asics BUT... chain 3 it only found 3 asics on board

I get a feeling that something else than the boards themselves are causing this, but I'm just guessing.

My next step is to try and measure a board to see that all chips are ok.

There is a tiny chance that the PSU is faulty and causes this, but it's not very likely to be the case, it's very common for a dashboard to show 30 Asics and then after a reboot, it will show 3 or 0 Asics, so this could very well be just a coincidence, this is why it's ALWAYS best to test 1 board at the time, so now since chain 1 (previously showing 21 Asics) is showing 30 Asics, let it run alone for 12-24 hours, if it sticks and nothing goes wrong, you can be somehow sure that it has been fixed and then put it aside and start with chain 3 doing the same process all over again, testing the board for a few mins can be misleading and will give you a lot of false results.

Quote
Does anyone have info about what currents I need to apply to the board in order to get some measurments, or can this be found in the previous link?

Do you mean voltage? if it's what you mean then it is 21v DC.
2439  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: T17 random hashplates dropping off on: May 15, 2021, 07:55:56 AM
Ok.. so update on this topic.
First of all, I was wrong that it's always a random hash plate - it is always chain[1].
1) On default firmware nothing changes
2) On chain[1] plate one capacitor for the power supply was a bit loose, soldered it, no difference tho.
3) Taking a functioning hash board and placing it in a chain[1] slot does not solve the problem - still in the log it is always chain[1] that is falling off.
4) Took ribbon cable from functioning board and placed it in chain[1] - no difference.

This could be a faulty control board, but in my years of mining I have never come across such an issue,  the likelihood of a control board that works okay with 2 chains and the 3rd chain is bad is just too low, did you try the 4th slot? the control board has 4 places on which you can attach the ribbon/data cable into, there is an empty one since the T17 has only 3 dashboards, can you try to use that port and see if you get any different results?

Also, make sure the busbar is firmly put, and the screws are tightened, if either the positive or the negative is even slightly loosen the dashboard won't show up.
2440  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer T17 - Stuck on troubleshooting where the error is on: May 14, 2021, 07:49:02 AM
It seems like you swapped the hashboards and now you are referencing them in the wrong way, can we stick to calling them chain 0,1,2 according to the kernel log where 0 in the log = 1 in the miner status page, 1 = 2 and 2=3 , just to avoid confusion.

According to the last image hashboard 2 ( 3 on the status page) looks perfect finding all 30 Asics, board 0 ( 1 on the miner status page) shows 21 Asics, which suggests that there is an issue either with the 21st asic or the 22nd chip.

For now I think you should focus on chain 0 which is showing 21 asics, it should be easier to fix, have you seen the repair manual for T17? please find here https://www.zeusbtc.com/NewsDetails.asp?ID=187  , there is a PDF which you can download from there, it's in Chinese, but should be "easy" to understand.

I would also wait for wndsnb to respond, he has the most knowledge in fixing these hashboards.
