I have had heard that quantum computing will not have a great impact on Bitcoins.  Could anyone explain the technical aspects of why?

You have to generate every single bitcoin address possible to crack one.

That is not possible.
Spent addresses could theorically be cracked with qc. Unspent ones, not. as the boss pointed out sha-256 is safe, so should be bitcoin as a whole. Spent addresses, however, might be compromised.

cedivad, are you an Avalon customer with waiting order?
Yes, i'm proudly waiting since Feb'18...
I, for once, have had faith into the chineses... Never again.
2423  Local / Italiano (Italian) / Re: Azioni ASIC miner, cosa ne pensate? on: May 30, 2013, 07:03:18 PM

dopo la graduale impennata dal 9 al 22 maggio, le asicminer pt si sono attestate sui 2,5 btc senza troppe oscillazioni.
stabilità ormai raggiunta?
Io sto considerando seriamente di shortarle.
2424  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: May 30, 2013, 07:01:38 PM
I'd rather have my Avalon shipped sooner than have someone answering all of the support tickets.  It sucks that the majority of support tickets are from people that constantly spam Avalon are preventing others from receiving the important support that they need, but there really is no easy way to fix this problem.
I would just like to point you out that you have no evidence at all of what you are sayng, you only have yu fi's word.
I have experience managing hundreds of tickets per day and i can assure you that a) it's not a problem b) you take as much as 2/3 seconds to detect "spammy" requests, or requests you would not lose time replying.

The point is that they don't care, as simple as that.

Anyway, how many units are they shipping? 3 per day? Just to keep the forum full of happy posts? Or what? Also, and this is a tricky question, where do these units comes from, since that their smt line is obliuvsly not online?

(tadaaaa)

And for the first time ever, that I have seen anyway,

MtGox - $130.03
Bitstamp - $130.53

From this day forward MtGox shall be known as "Magic of the gathering exchange"  Grin

And yet, as I write this, MtGox is higher again.

Very interesting...

That just shows that there is some buying pressure. For the whole march bitstamp was higher than  mtgox.
2426  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL ASIC STATUS 5/29 on: May 30, 2013, 05:23:53 PM
since this is the prototype of a 50gigahash I'd say just give it at least another 2-12 months.
I think that if they had the money (and chips in quantity, that should not be far from the truth), the should theoretically be able to ship every order in a short tf, like, 1 month.
They should simply outsource everything, from the pcb to the case/packaging...

However, i think that since that they lack liquidity, they will do it in house and as slow as possible.

Why don't they start selling batches of their chips as well? That could have a fixed delivery time...
2427  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL ASIC STATUS 5/29 on: May 30, 2013, 04:48:04 PM
Now they only need to ship in quantity...
2428  Economy / Auctions / Re: Bentley GT continental (2004 ) registed sell for BITCOIN.. on: May 27, 2013, 06:33:17 PM
Would you mind looking to see what shipping to the US would be along with the duty? I just don't have the time but would be interested in maybe 280-300BTC.
You understand that the driver seat is inverted, right?
2429  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: May 27, 2013, 05:23:10 PM
I just contacted my friend on skype to ask him if i could make his name (he has an account here) and he replied that it was a joke... I didn't understood it, evidently.
Skype screenshoot:

(he ordered after me, so i was starting to think i would receive the units soon... no way).

Sorry for the drama...
2430  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: May 27, 2013, 05:07:46 PM
LOL.

BTW, a friend of mine that ordered the 18th received the tracking info.

Something is happening. Im not sure of what yet, but something is happening.
2431  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 166667 avalon chips to absolutley dominate bitcoin network on: May 26, 2013, 01:52:03 PM
lead us to conclusion that sha256 is not good enough to provide appropriate network decentralization.
Your logic fails here.
