2441  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: July 05, 2015, 04:56:50 AM
The best share problem is the bitmain cgminer fork in the Ant, not the pool.
You can get around it if the pool allows you to set the difficulty.

You can see the difficulty values in the image being problematic with their code: 256 and 4096 being exact powers of 2

If you set them to something like 1042 (which would suit a 1THs miner) I think that works around their best share bug.

That's cool but this is the only pool i use i all ways see BestShare at  0 on all my S5's. no mater what setting i use or firm ware fork or version . i use a lot of pools. even my S3 saw best shares here even before I started using the new updated CGminer you just put out which is nice, btw.  ty  for the update.

to be honest i don't get why  they don't fix the little things, I  understand no time for firmware updates but fixing this can't take much on there part but yet they won't .
2442  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: July 04, 2015, 10:47:14 PM
did I just fine one on antpool ?. If so How do tell, i really did ? .

2443  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: July 03, 2015, 09:26:55 PM
Quote
Example:

BTC:
sudo ./minerd -a sha256d -o stratum+tcp://POOL_URL -u USER -p PASSWORD -d /dev/ttyUSBx -f 600

LTC
sudo ./minerd -o stratum+tcp://POOL_URL -u USER -p PASSWORD -d /dev/ttyUSBx -f 600

So just like the original gridseeds you will be running two separate instances of the mining software (one for BTC and one for LTC). Each can be tuned individually. Like J4bberwock said; it shouldn't be long before someone adds support to cgminer.

No one ever managed (AFAIK) to get separate instances of cgminer to run both BTC and LTC at the same time with the original gridseeds. You could only run cgminer for BTC and then had to run cpuminer for LTC when dual mining. Trying to run cgminer with gridseed scrypt support at the same time as cgminer with gridseed sha256 support would not work. The second instance of cgminer would see the port as already in use (I think...it's been a while).

One instance of cgminer utilizing both SHA256 and scrypt would be ideal but something tells me we wont see that unless Sfards changed the way the miners are accessed. There was some talk of it being worked on by third parties (with the original gridseeds) but nothing came of it.

Huh, hopefully they will implement driver into cgminer and bfgminer as soon as possible since the original minerd is a rather ancient piece of software ...
I wouldn't count on it. They will most likely only release what is already available and count on others to fill in the gaps like they did with the original gridseeds.

Not sure how the original grid seeds were engineered, but these have completely separated power buses and two com channels one for BTC cores and one for LTC...its one chip but everything is chained completely separate.

The final hardware on these will have two separate USB to serial ports, so it should be no issue configuring two seprate instances of cgminer/bfgminer...one to point to the BTC coms and one pointing to LTC coms.

Welcome news.  I really don't want these to be an either piece of gear. I do prefer they mine both coins at the same time.

Do you plan on two chip miners for your sales?

Best regards Phil

That's why i want one or two but may be out of what I'm willing to pay, the MH really is not that great to me for what it uses in power, the SHA256 part to me is . I really expected the Script part to be higher more like 60 MH not OC . if you can OC both parts of the miner with no issue the best you will OC the Script to is maybe 70 to 95, if your lucky and not burn it up . i used one of the 80 chip blades for a while and got a nice deal on one even made back what I put into it and sold it for all most 200 on Ebay last OCT.I did try to run both the sha256 and Script miner and dual mine but it got hotter then i what i was willing to mode to for cooling so i run it in Script mode.

I got a feeling is it going to be very loud .

Rewards have been temporarily reduced until all losses are recovered.

SO we pay for his misjudgments, if what he said really happen after reading that.

SO what's new rich suxing poor dry never eating it .

i feel he should pay any loses but that's me, one of the many reason i won't bro running any pools, I'll stay a user.

That's like BG and E On my power bill, I am paying them for a ten year loan i never in curried because they wanted to use unsafe smart meter to get  billions from the FED's and the state approved a tax increase for them last year . and they still fine ways to stick it to the public and miss use what they have .
2445  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: July 01, 2015, 04:46:35 PM
Almost there:

so all this is in that case is a updated version of the first Gridseed , wonder if we can upgrade the Gridseed g- black with this all we would need is boards that fit those Heat sinks ). if it Plugs in the same way
etc .or some one fits boards for those heat sinks etc..

That boards looks about the same size as the Gridseed g- black boards, i know that's just a test board.but it looks so sweet i want a full miner.

I want one but at 1179 I can buy a script miner used that does 60 MH and a KNC miner off Ebay Used or could the other day that according to the Seller worked at 3 th for around 500, total cost for both a little less then this one, uses more power but I'll make more with faster speeds, won't feel Ive been cheated .

They will sell it just not to your every day player.

I'll wait for for bitmain there prices are more reason able .
2449  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 25, 2015, 05:51:08 PM
Since its a well established fact that home miners make a very minute market for most equipment manufacturers, the case being made for sfards pricing the SF100 for the home miner in relation bitmaintech's pricing is a non starter. That not only because sfards are a different kind of beast to bitmain (what with the dev kits, offering the chips etc), but more pertinent that if the SF100 is solid enough, even bitmain's much vaunted upcoming S7 won't affect the SF100's uptake, and that because it would require bitmain to undercut themselves on the S5 to the point of giving them away, even EOL'ing it.

I think this will be priced between $650 - $800

Won't it depend what the S7 does and price . id like to see this at 450 to 600 to me even that price ( $650 - $800) is to high sense the Avalon4.1 still sells https://ehash.com/product/avalon4-module-1t/ for 1.95 btc + shipping.

i only want one or two of these . mostly for the Script part .

The S5 is kind of at EOL any way this is the last S5 Batch being sold now unless they decide to make a s5 + there wont be anymore S5 made after this batch sells out .and to move stack once the S5 + if there is one or S6 or S7 depends if they still like home miners which i hope they do the now S5 left in stock will be priced to move.

at this point we wait and see time will tell .
2450  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 25, 2015, 05:37:29 PM
I expect these rigs to be no less than $500.00 USD each [including shipping].  That would be $50,000 minimum ...

You didn't hear from me, but try tripling the price - $1500 USD...

They argue:

"Based on recent Bitcoin and Litecoin price, a dual-mode SF100’s revenue equals to a 2.8-3.2T pure Bitcoin miner, which makes it 0.3-0.34W/GHS power efficiency."

Bitmain sells S5 batch 5 for about $0.31 USD per GH/s. Why should SFARDS price a more efficient product lower?
So I bet the price will be between $870 USD and $990 USD (exluding shipping).

good guess I don't see much cheaper.  basically if the go as low as 600-700 I think bitmaintech would start a price war with them.
Well the S5 has been out for a long time and people are buying them used for much cheaper than new, I think they would either have to push their new product to price war with Sfards.

or sfards sells at 1500 and like avalon does not attempt to go to war with bitmaintech. (most likely case)

they self mine and sell the gear at a high price. thus they escape the attack from bitmaintech.

Sense they are all in China it may never happen it's like one big family there or seems that way .

They still have a code there . but time will tell Smiley .

Maybe the only way we will ever see any kind of price war's is if a A company in the US started up making there own chips  etc . then we Might , because that's how we are.

In china i honestly believe it is more a code thing then anything bit main was the first one  etc  ...

2451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Scrypt.CC | Scrypt Cloud Mining on: June 25, 2015, 05:12:07 PM
Ok...so, if the scrypt.cc=ponzi, can someone please enlighten me as how to make decent BTC besides buying expensive equipment, the faucets, and referrals? All I hear is Ponzi this Ponzi that, scam scam etc. ad nauseum WITHOUT mentioning decent alternatives. How is everybody else here making legit coin then? I´ve been in the crypto world for several months now and I´d Like to start making real $ and besides all the rhetoric, I have yet to hear really solid methods of aquiring BTC. Sorry I dont have alot of posts, I like a minimal data footprint I suppose.

Try this one Smiley  to be honest this one is about the only one i would trust or send any one to they also sell the miners at a reason able price .

There hard ware https://bitmaintech.com/product.htm

There cloud mining service .https://www.hashnest.com/

you can still make lots mining in your home but it will cost at first and you may have to remodel a room in your house etc . if you home mine  id try to run at least 10 TH  all the time to make a fair a mount fast . o yea  reinvest some of those BTC here for more hash

2452  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S5 Pools on: June 24, 2015, 06:07:57 PM
smit1237 has created a firmware for S5 with built-in "nano" *nix text editor for us to be able to edit the configuration files directly in S5 ssh session.

I must doing something wrong i use that firmware it still reset why i said i tested it . Smiley .

2453  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 24, 2015, 05:44:12 PM
But I have no need to review one others can do good reviews.

OgNasty doe review and gb. Simples.

Dogie do no two review.

no knock on OgNasty or dogie  , but I would like to see sfards words not a newbie's

And like I said I don't need to review this, I offered to review it. In fact I would offer to review it and mail it back to sfards rep here in the USA.

Which means zero financial gain on my part and I would lose the postage mailing it back to  sfards rep in the usa.

That makes me about as neutral as you will get in the world of BTC-LTC.

And I made this offer months ago.  Go back and find the post.  And I was attacked and insulted back then by a newbie.  Which prompted me to withdraw the offer.

I find it interesting that as soon as I mention reviewing this gear newbies turn up to attack me.

Why?

Simples you beg and beg.  If wes need help with rental wes ask you....  Now you offer to mail back.... so you does not want to pays for unit?

Og and Dogie both no beg.  You needy.

I know I'm a bit late to the fight here, and I usually don't bother with obvious trolls. But...
You're full of shit.

Philip has been an asset to miners in general for a LONG time. Not only that, he will help out a newbie without making them feel like an idiot. nearly a year ago, when I was making stupid mistakes with my gridseed, he very kindly helped me out via PM for no return. Just because he was cool. He and I are nothing to each other. Not friends or enemies, just miners on the same forum. Don't besmirch the reputation of a man who has earned a good one.

Sometimes I gotta wonder what drugs you trolls take...

I Agree Philip is very cool they should send him one if just him  nothing personal. dogie Smiley .

These might be why no s2 upgrades or not much being said from bitmain ,I bet bitmain has something coming that gonna top this for btc. i wish they had come thu with the L1 .Smiley .
2454  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Where would I look into buying miners? on: June 24, 2015, 02:07:36 AM
Let me see there is so many places on the Webb some i wouldn't send my worst friend to, some i would recommend to any one.

But start with

http://www.ebay.com/

 for the best prices .

or

http://www.amazon.com/

they may cost more but some times if your a lucky one you get some really nice deals there . but its rare there any more .

or do a Google search.

if you use Google be careful .
2455  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S5 Pools on: June 24, 2015, 01:37:38 AM
can I add a list of pools to my S5 besides the Three that the Bitmain GUI allows me to add.

I know its possible I just don't know what files and where they are located.

I am looking at editing a single File and pushing it to all the miners using PUtty or if its possible have the S5 look for it on my PC/server and just grab it when it boots.

you can do that with putty the file is called cgminer.sh under this path /etc/init.d line 69 if you useing a notepad with a line editor as i call it, and  using Wincp  might be easier then with putty . but the problem atm is after a S5 reboot it reset any of those setting you make back to defaults for that file etc. it's  meant to, I tested it about a week ago, i wanted to see if it still works and if it would hold after a reboot it still doesn't hold but still does work, but hopefully in a few mouths once BFG adds supports for S 5 they might fixed it so thing  hold thu reboots.

Back in the S1 days i actually found a nice walk thu that showed how to add more then three in the S1 by editing a xml file, back then i think that poster added up to ten in the UI and gave a nice walk thu but shortly after that the S3 came out, not much more was really said or done with it, it kind of faded away .

I Know longer have that link or i would post it, you could Polly use that to add more to the UI inside the S5, maybe. if you do find it, i would back up any of those files because once you reboot the S5 it will default back to  default settings, I don't mean restart CGminer but reboot the S5 . . by design it is meant to unless you add it in a custom firmware then update the firmware .

GUESS what i found that post you can try it with the S5 Smiley ..

Glad to hear you got those working. But baking 450 celcius degrees sounds a bad idea.220-245 would be better and measuring temperature.Meters with k-type sensors are cheap.Or ir-meter if you use heat-gun.That 450 will actually will melt parts off the pcb if baked too long.

not,  what read some one tired it at 220 to 245 it didn't work . but i did set at the oven for ten mins and watched it with a temperature gun laser type .

o i know, not like I'm making the PCB board which is a new complete diff way . were you may have to leave it in there for a while etc and need a re flow oven either home made or bought  to be safe .

any way your right but it was something i tried , it was trial and error and i had nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I kind of followed this https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair+VGA+card+by+re-flowing+solder+on+the+board/2240 sense i really couldn't find anything on how to for miners.

No worries toptek, glad I could help Smiley

I have another side of an S1 to reflow so I could perhaps document my process with Pictures.

BTW I didn't replace the Thermal Paste on the Heatsink as I didn't think it warranted it.

I'll post the Guide once completed.

IF you bake it you have to . i wouldn't put it in the oven with paste on  the board , it might mix in the re flow then it might be worse ..  but i got yea .

I felt i should have that's Polly why there is such a big cap between blades in temps .

well ty for the insight you saved me 150 $ so far, time will tell.

I'll give it two Days then take it a part again, try to even out those temps more,. Smiley

P.S. last thought heat sinks on each chip does lower it by 2 or more degrees per blade or seemed to on two of my others S5 that i Put them on . i have more on order coming from China .Smiley.

for anyone interested I used these heat sinks they fit prefect, i don't really need much  in line of cooling in my house the Central AC Keep the house cold . we keep it at 76 to 79 degrees and about that were i have my miners set up ,  all the time.

2459  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: antminer S5 - Chain #2 status : -'s on: June 21, 2015, 09:06:10 PM
Well, guess, what the re bake or re flow thing worked, both blades are hashing now , now for how long is the question Smiley hoping for ever.

Did you document the process?  I would not mind seeing pictures of it happening if you did.

Sadly, no pic but can write just what i did . my skill with pictures and videos is real bad . but will write what i did and what temps what kind of oven etc .Never been to good at keeping actual written notes. i read and learn and try it if it works, i say something .

I bought a S5 about two weeks ago on amzon used, for the price of a new one ( being lazy didint feel like buying the coins). when I got it I had to take it a part it needed a really bad cleaning it was over heating etc cleaning it fixed that. then 24 hours later chain one stopped hashing no reason, there was very Low hardware errors no XXXX the temps were fine well below 60 C.

I got in touch with the Seller we talked he offered to send me a another S5 that was suppose to be having the same issue . he told me to keep old one. the replacment wasn't working as he said but that was a very easy fix, set it to defaults and unplugged all the cables and  it worked, i knew it needed some adjustments. it wasn't showing __________ in the line nor  XXX just 0000 . for one blade the other one  was hashing as it should have been .

now to how i fixed the one that went bad or seemd to go bad.

I saw this thread so i started reading more on it and then Nthused posted what he did with his S1 so I looked for more info on re flowing, i knew what it was or what to do . I had only heard it called re baking a GPU card.

SO I looked for more info and find all  kinds of  good stuff about making your own re flow oven etc but knew i Polly will never need one.

SO i started thinking about some thing that happen a while back some one told me how they fixed there GPU by putitng in a reg every day oven for 8 mins at around 390 to 420 degrees.

SO,I did some online shopping for toaster oven found this on one cheap http://www.sears.com/sunbeam-2-slice-toaster-oven/p-00818977000P?pageInd=product&currentProductTitle=sunbeam-2-slice-toaster-oven&isSEOCanonURL=true&catgroupId=00818977000P&catalogId=12605&redirectType=SRDT&isSEOUri=true&storeId=10153&partNumber=00818977000P&reqURI=%2fshc%2fs%2fsunbeam-2-slice-toaster-oven%2fp-00818977000P
total cost to me was 21.99 after taxes, i went and picked it up .

once i got home i took a part the S5  cleaned up the board real good with rubbing Alcohol 70 % iosproplyl .took any thing i could get  off, off  . then plugged in the oven and set it to max temp of 450 let it set for 10 mins . then stuck in the board. i didn't use the tray it didn't fit in with the tray any way. I didn't like the idea of setting it on a tray with tin foil spacers and the way I did it, it fit into the oven .. it was just long enough for the top slot in the oven, i just slide it in then shut the door . set the timer on the oven for 10 mins and watched it with a temperature gun to make sure it didn't get to hot or go over 420 Degree even thu, i had it set at 450 max setting. once the timer went off, it shut off, I unplugged it then opened the door and let it set for a about a hour inside the oven.

pulled it out ,

re pasted the boards with http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004SPJQOO?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

put these two fan back on

this as pull
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A460TK6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00

this as push

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Y1HLA8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00

plugged it into a 850 gold standard by Corsair.

I don't think it i could have fixed it using a heat GUN they look kind of hard to use, didn't seem like it was the best way .  but A big ty to Nthused for giving me more ideas and thinking on it more .

results below

I'm all most sure now i have take it part again and re past the boards, i think it i may have put to much on one of the boards . but I'll leave it for a few days and see if it keeps hashing .

BTW, that's the extent of my Picture taking skills, it took me all most a year to figure out how to use http://imgur.com with the forums.

I'm not one to ask unless I'm to annoyed to look any more and i want to know.

P.S, don't do this if it is under warr it will void it and there is no way i know of that will cover up what that oven can do to it .

for the  toaster oven any cheap toaster oven will work but try to make sure it has heating elements both on the top and bottom for a better bake .

AND a manual temp setting or dial so you can adjust it up or down while it bakes .

DO NOT USE AND I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH ON ANY OVEN YOU USE TO COOK WITH, VERY UNHEALTHY and MAY HURT YOU IN THE LONG RUN.
