2461  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core is not syncing well on: September 29, 2022, 11:59:24 PM
Why don't you just let the Bitcoin core download the whole blockchain?
Manual download of the Bitcoin blockchain from other sources is no longer available and it is no longer suggested to download manually. There is a big risk and possible file corruption.

If your problem is the syncing and it's downloading very slow then to improve it you need to increase ram memory and switch to SSD there is a big improvement in your Bitcoin and it speeding up the syncing process.
2462  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you use crypto trading robots? on: September 29, 2022, 11:49:21 PM
When did you find that site?
The site only contains guides for trading bots but only 2 or 3 trading bots are mentioned there the site owner seems doesn't yet know there are lots of trading bots.
How about adding this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5278392

Take note trading bot only automates your task on trading but there is no guarantee that you can make a big profit. Trading bots are also following a strategy that you set.
It's risky for most traders that do not know how to use it to make sure you are familiar for some strategies before you use a bot to set up them properly for success.

I notice that the website is pretty new it's 2 months old according to whois
Code:
Expiry Date: 2023-07-14T12:49:01Z
created:     2022-07-14T12:49:01Z

There is no special on that site except for a few bots and links with referral links so I think the website is just a landing page and gets benefits by referring users.
Do you own this website?
2463  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it dangerous if a phone used for crypto activity get stolen after formatted on: September 29, 2022, 11:30:53 PM
Since iOS 12 the trick of formatted data that wasn't written on it doesn't work anymore because of how APFS works, once the file is deleted the key is also, plus a long time ago iOS started encrypting the file system with a second key based on the first lock in user. So once you erase it with "erase Iphone" there is no way for someone to actually read the data even if recoverable, the only way to do it is from your backup.
That doesn't mean you should use your Iphone to store your keys either.

Files can be still recoverable for IOS12 but u3tools can clean/wipe your iPhone it uses Anti-recovery flash mode to clean and destroy personal data.
Time is fast technology keeps developing even if it is encrypted in the future hackers crackers can able to develop software that can decrypt recovered files from iPhones. So if you are going to give it to someone and don't want to expose your old important files that you recently deleted always use the Anti-recovery flash mode to fully destroy and clean your iPhone storage.
2464  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Newpac Miner 0 chips found error on: September 29, 2022, 10:57:18 PM
Here is the .bat file.
~snip~

Do you mind switching to another pool to try? I'd like you to try switching to https://solo.ckpool.org/

Also, would you mind playing the settings under your suggested difficulty you can try this one --suggest-diff 5000 or increase the difficulty if it doesn't work.

Also try this one

Code:
cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u my_btc_address -p x --gekko-newpac-boost --gekko-newpac-freq 100
2465  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Your own experience with hardware wallets. on: September 28, 2022, 11:59:18 PM
Why you don't bring this to the right section we have a hardware wallet section here on the forum that you can find here.

We also have old post reviews for a few well-known hardware wallets you can check them here Hardware wallets reivews
2466  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Newpac Miner 0 chips found error on: September 28, 2022, 11:30:27 PM
Do you mind sharing what is inside your .bat file config?
There might be another reason why it shows 0 ASIC/zombie mode.

If your miner is connected directly to the PC/laptop, not on the hub with its own power your PC/Laptop is not giving enough power to your miner.
You can lower the voltage or reduce the frequency to try if it's hashing then gradually increase it later until you found the best settings for voltage/frequency.

If didn't work then there is official thread of this Newpac you can find it here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5053833.0
The above links are not for Newpac official thread.
2467  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dumpwallet not available. What to use instead of it? on: September 28, 2022, 11:04:42 PM
I can use it this way:

1. back up wallet.dat of this newer Core.
2. replace it with copied wallet.dat of older Core.'
3. dumpwallet.
4. Replace wallet.dat with original one.

Will it work?

it should work even if you don't need to do the 4th step just delete your old wallet.dat it the core itself will generate a new wallet.dat.

You can also install the latest Bitcoin core on your new PC and transfer the old wallet.dat file there but the problem is that it is not safe if you dump a wallet from a PC connected to the internet.

Just always make sure before you do anything from your old wallet make sure you already have a backup copy of your old wallet if anything goes wrong while upgrading it to the latest version you can recover it by using pywallet.
2468  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: PROBLEM WITH AISEN A1 PRO 21T LOVEMINER on: September 28, 2022, 10:55:40 PM
What is your miner's current firmware? Is the miner using stock firmware or modded firmware?

From what I see it looks like a fan issue because it shows a warning of abnormal fan speed stock firmware will automatically shut down all hashboard if it detects abnormal status on the fan like on Bitmain units.

There is no current support for this unit I can't recommend doing anything than trying to reset the unit to the default factory settings you can do this by holding reset/IP report button for 15 to 20 seconds and then release.
Then replug all cables from fan, control board and hashboard then test it again.
2469  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTCMap.org on: September 28, 2022, 04:15:11 PM
An interesting app I tried it today but sadly some stores are from my current location but it is still a good app I saw some stores that accept Bitcoin but a bit far 3 hours if I commute to those stores. It seems that Bitcoin is not fully developed here in my country unlike in other countries like Japan.

Another thing that I notice is that the map is loading very slow I think they need to improve and optimized the map to speed up the loading map process or I think if they can host it to a faster one like DigitalOcean or Google cloud it might improve the loading speed of the map.
2470  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dumpwallet not available. What to use instead of it? on: September 28, 2022, 03:37:33 PM
If your Bitcoin core doesn't have that option then like the above said pywallet is your option to dump the wallet.

You can download the this tool from here https://github.com/jackjack-jj/pywallet
Then don't forget to download and install python 2.7 in your PC/laptop to make this tool work.

Then use this command below

Code:
python pywallet.py --dumpwallet --wallet=wallet.dat
You must open the command prompt on the same folder where your wallet.dat is located.
2471  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How strong are hardware wallets on: September 28, 2022, 03:29:07 PM
If you talking about the security of the hardware wallet then yes your assets are safe but not 100% because if you lose your hardware and someone found it there is still possibility the he/she can able to open it and try to brute-force your wallet if it's encrypted.

Or if you were talking about if the wallet has an online database about your hardware keys then they don't have control of your private keys it means it's safe that no one will take control of your private keys except you if you still have the backup seed phrase.
2472  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Exchanges instant sepa withdrawal on: September 28, 2022, 12:22:37 AM
Have you tried to use bestchange where you can filter exchanges that support sepa withdrawal?
Look at this one https://www.bestchange.com/bitcoin-to-sepa.html

Most of them are instant just make sure you check the exchange first if they have KYC verification. Bestchange filters them with an icon on the right side of the exchanges if it's manual, automatic, KYC verification, or if they are taking commission fee just hover the mouse to the right of the exchange name and also check the exchange after you access the site go to the bottom to read TOS/Privacy policy and AML/KYC POLICY to make sure you are using a non-KYC exchange.

2473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: decryption of wallet on: September 27, 2022, 11:36:04 PM
If it was generated from bitaddress.org why not try to decrypt it there if you still know the passphrase?

If not, and if you forgot some parts of the passphrase you can use the bitcoin recovery tool from FinderOuter
or if you totally forgot them then you can try to brute force your encrypted private key you can use this https://github.com/3rdIteration/btcrecover
I'm sure brute-forcing your encrypted private key to decrypt it would be a long journey if you have a long passphrase.
2474  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Help with the best Asic mining on: September 27, 2022, 03:26:02 PM
Seriously? I know cloud mining isn't great but never thought there was so much scam here...

Cloud mining is not worth investing why? Because you don't actually own mining units instead you are investing in a Cloud mining site that you didn't know if they actually have a physical miner.
Are you promoting one of the Cloud mining sites? I'm one of the victims of those scheme I wait for almost a month to withdraw them but in the end, you can't able to withdraw your mine BTC. Almost all Cloud mining sites are using the same scheme.
It would be much better if you buy or own an ASIC unit because it is safe than investing in any Cloud mining sites.
2475  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How reliable is the AntMiner S19 Pro? on: September 27, 2022, 02:31:41 PM
I just read that the S19J was slightly underclocked and more stable/reliable but it does not seem the case.

Looks like i will upgrade then.

For Bitmain only the s19 series are more reliable than the old units but if you spare time you can also check Canaan units they are also good and I think it would be an awesome choice if you have strong units from Canaan.

Read the post from this Most reliable SHA-256 Asic Miners
2476  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 1246 network status not working. on: September 27, 2022, 02:11:55 PM
Hi guys, I have definitively find the problem but not the solution. Canaan made two types of asics:
- 1246 85th/s for non European market with A3201 chips
- 1246 N 85th/s for European market with A3200 chips

My problems is, I have buy replacement parts for 1246 and not 1246 N parts are the same but not the firmware.

So if anyone had a firmware for an Avalon 1246 with A3200 chips please contact me.

So you still have the issue without trying my suggestion above?

I don't know where you buy the control board but if you want to flash the control board then contact Canaan because their download page does not have firmware you need to contact them before they email you the firmware.

Or try to contact zeusbtc.com or try to contact the repair center near you check the list here https://www.zeusbtc.com/ASIC-Miner-Repair/ scroll down to the bottom to find them.
2477  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it dangerous if a phone used for crypto activity get stolen after formatted on: September 27, 2022, 01:57:31 PM
Yes, possible that they can recover files from the phone even if it is totally formatted. There is a tool called JTAG that mostly use for repairing phones and also use to recover files the process is a bit dangerous if you don't have knowledge of using JTAG it's direct to nand/memory IC and then can dump/recover your files instantly.

If you want to delete or erase them totally before you format your phone you need some apps called data eraser or shreddit to permanently delete files and then those files are irrecoverable. Now, you are safe to reformat your phone without worrying about sensitive files that you don't want to expose.
2478  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: XP Error on: September 25, 2022, 11:02:02 PM
@Bitmaxz, this is not possible with the new gen miners, the heatsink on the chip front is one whole large block attached with solder/thermal and screws, no way it would do anything like that.

If its different from the old s19 units then he can just point the blower or hotair on the front of the heatsink near on that chip just to give a bit heat because some parts is not fully soldered there some parts have cold solder joint. So giving them a heat can melt it and gives more contact from chips to the board.
2479  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where are these payments coming from? on: September 25, 2022, 12:10:55 AM
I experience one of my addresses with balance but it doesn't break any privacy because I only receive it in my one address and I include it on my next withdrawal to Binance.

I don't see any effect receiving them if you only receive it only in your one address but if the amount is too small better you manually choose what coin you want to spend because it can affect the transaction size which could lead to a high transaction fee excluding it can save more fees.

I've had this happen to my Metamask wallet. I received a few thousand worthless coins/tokens that showed up when using services such as Yieldwatch and, of course, couldn't be sold despite showing having an X value due to them having zero liquidity. However, even after reading your article, I still don't quite understand how dust attacks are dangerous. Could you please elaborate? From what I've understood, it simply deanonymizes your address by creating multiple links towards it. Does it pose another risk? Addresses are not actually private, but if you don't publicly share them, like we do on our profiles, there's no way for them to be linked back to us. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The issue on Metamask with ETH network or Bep20 network is totally different it looks like a dust attack but it is more likely a phishing attack where newbies fall about these trying to get benefits by transferring or withdrawing them and then sell them to exchanges where it listed but actually, in the end, if you do allow them their other coins or ETH/BNB will be stolen.
2480  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Mining Softwares for S19J Pros on: September 24, 2022, 11:30:22 PM
I am running BraiinsOS on 10 S19 Pros 100Th and find it pretty nice.  Beware that you use smaller SD cards (not larger than 8gb) as they don't play well.  Also, if you get a low quality SD card, you will be pulling them out and replacing them, so in an immersion cooling situation, that is annoyingly messy.

Low-quality SD cards or fake SD cards shouldn't be used to flash units because there are lots of fake volumes when burning or transferring the firmware to the SD CARD parts of the file will become corrupted which is why it ends up failing/does not work or sometimes your control board will lead to fully bricked that you can't able to recover it through SD card flashing.

SD card like Sandisk is the easiest one to find genuine or authentic, unlike Samsung SD cards you need to manually check them using an SD card checker to know if it's authentic or not.
