Real estate isn't really "stuff".
If I had thousands of BTC I would definitely sell some to buy a couple of apartments. Sure I will lose the opportunity of BTC going higher for those coins, but at the same time I would protect my future.
Real Estate is certainly a wise investment. But I look at the US long term real estate market with two major things hanging over its head. The baby boomer generation that is now the retiring generation and soon to be in the old folks homes generation leaving a lot of empty homes. Also, property only holds its value because the government protects those property rights. As the US debt climbs and the budget requires more and more money to fund just the interest on that debt there will be a struggle by the government to find new sources of revenue. Property owners may end up in the cross hairs (among many sources) as they are already paying taxes...what's another one added on. Either through their local government, the state or the federal government directly. Or just simply the expanded use of eminent domain. When the majority of voters do not own property...they now own your property. |

On a different note I got a text from my sister of "wow, $4,400 that's amazing". I replied that I was pleased. She replied saying "you should start buying stuff".
I didn't really understand what she was talking about so I asked "like what?". Her response was "property"..."or a mansion".
I just told her I would rather retire than worry about stuff.

Like always, this is leading nowhere. For the middle finger no one really cares as long as you don't show it to a policemen. But even then, the worst thing to happen is you paying 50 for being rude to a policemen instead of beaing instantly executed for not following his orders. Or when you're driving and the other driver reports you. |

We have free speech too, it's simply part of our human rights. But we also have another very important rule: Your human rights end there, where you intersect the human rights of somebody else. Which to me is a really reasonable limitation.

Why did BCC rise back some on pretty strong volume. Is that just random or for some reason relating to bitcoin at all. I'm looking at the price action for August on Kraken and the whole of August we've been in a regular price channel. Thats very strong action, dont even normally see this because bitcoin is so volatile its too loose to keep something regular normally attributed to maybe stocks in movement. I spotted a few people talking negatively, maybe surrounding the 4,000 line but its acting strong overall up until it breaks that channel. Actually last day or so it was trying to break out upwards if anything A week or so ago someone queried why Ver doesn't just dump all of his bitcoins into bcash to pump the price. His response was something along the lines of "I'm seriously considering doing this". Perhaps this was that action. |

True. I installed the Electron shitwallet on my cellphone and guess what? It changes THE REAL ELECTRUM config, so the Electrum started looking for my xpub on the shitcash chain. I had to uninstall and reinstall Electrum (just erasing the blockchain headers file did nothing) after recovering from the heart attack I had when I saw zero balance on my wallet...
that's just....poor, wow I donīt want to advertise that (maybe shit) Electron Cash, but it worked smooth for me. Just installed it on another computer, transferred my BTC to another wallet, inserted the seed, got the BitCoinCash, sent them to an exchange, deleted electron cash and sent BTC to a new wallet... I was just afraid this electron cash might steal my BitCoinCash, but nothing happened (except the things supposed to happen). So, i did not use it that much, but just for claiming the CashStuff it worked easy and fine for me... Electron Cash searches for an existing Electrum wallet and overwrites it. |

I know something about the subject. I don't see what scam do you refer to. PLease enlighten us. if you have never researched satellites, then do it...while your at it, start looking at n tesla,his tech, his patents and who stole em  I have a Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications where we covered satellite technology as well as a Master's in IT. I have worked on military satellite systems. I see no scam in what they are doing. Seems pretty straightforward to me. |

When looking at stocks and taxes it says that you can direct which shares you want your broker to sell, but you have to be ready to prove that you chose those shares.
So in reality, even if you're doing FIFO or LIFO, if you want to choose a specific set of bitcoins to sell (older coins when you had been doing LIFO or newer coins when you had been doing FIFO) you can. As long as you prove that that is what you are doing.

I know that the IRS has specified that calculating your gains on bitcoin you should use FIFO or LIFO as long as you are consistent.
But can you choose FIFO for bitcoin and then use LIFO for litecoin?
The case use would be that you use FIFO and have fiat on an exchange that you want to move to another exchange but if you buy bitcoins then transfer to another exchange and sell you would be selling coins you bought years ago, not the coins you just bought. Thus requiring double capital gains.
But if you buy litecoins, transfer to another exchange and sell the litecoins using LIFO then you would have zero capital gains on the transfer.
FIFO works excellent with Bitcoin for cutting taxes on capital gain. I haven't tried the one with litecoin till now. But with Bitcoin I always follow first in first out strategy and try to educate others about it too. In a rising environment such as Bitcoin, wouldn't LIFO give rise to lower capital gains (unless you liquidate everything)? Bitcoins purchased a year back are likely to have a higher capital base than those purchased 5 years back. There are tradeoffs to both. With FIFO you are more likely to be cashing out coins you had for over a year which are taxed at a lower rate. With LIFO you pay a higher rate but the difference in price from when you bought them to when you sold them is likely smaller. |

How is a paper wallet not protected if a pc is compromised?
few ways ... can get the paper wallet file out of the printer's memory ... or more unlikely if they've hijacked your webcam might be able to catch a shot of you waving around your paper wallet or other private things  With my cryptosteel I created my public/private keys on a laptop that was completely off the network. Put the keys on the cryptosteel then took the hard drive out of the computer, opened it up, took out the disk and smashed it to pieces. Then I took the pieces and the computer itself and burned it in a fire. The cryptosteel are wrapped in a metallic tape that is not very common so I will know if it has been tampered with. Needless to say...fairly secure. |

There were quite a few folks that I began to recommend buying in the upper $300s - and I looked like a fool for about a year, then bitcoin fate seemed to have turned, and now $300s seems like a real bargain, too.
I recommended people refinance their house and take a loan to buy bitcoins when the price was $325. The typical response was "I wouldn't go that far, buy but don't invest more than you can afford to looose.". |
