2521  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] Members who support newbies - Thanks! on: October 31, 2018, 08:36:27 PM
Many hours of reading newbie posts trying to find legitimate posters. It’s a (mostly) thankless job, but I’m glad to help new users feel appreciated and improve their bitcointalk experience.
I am also glad that a trusted member like you here in the community still finds time to hunt merit worthy post hidden by big piles of dump. I know that you have other things to do in the forum but I am surprised that you are in the top 20 merit senders of all time, it shows that you are also contributing in the forum in other ways and it is really helping a lot of newbies who have received merits from you, as from what I see it is one of their motivators on their attempts on creating good quality post
2522  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Chinese man jailed for 3.5 years after stealing electricity to mine bitcoin on: October 31, 2018, 07:15:56 PM
So, The man isn't paying a lot for what he committed, he is jailed for the same amount of his crime. what is left $1,8k represents 6 months of a minimum wage in his country. Trust me in another country he could have had a lot more jail time + pay back the money.
But let us consider other factors such as:
-Inflation Rate
-Lost time serving in jail
-and of course having a criminal record in your resume

He may look like he is not paying much for the crimes he committed but this guy's future is inevitable ruined. Most employers if not hire you will give you a lesser role because you have been to jail that is why having a criminal record would definitely destroy your future, and I think 1,800$ is really not worth it, this person after serving his time will now have a hard time of earning money.
2523  Economy / Economics / Re: S&P500 Crash especially Amazon stock. Good time to short ? on: October 31, 2018, 06:49:27 PM
The best time to short Amazon was before it got down to this level. I remembered last 6 days ago Amazon closed at 1,782$ per share and it dipped down to as low as 1,485$ per share. Shorting is when you are selling at the point where it is around 1,700$ and buying it back from its lowest point this week and even around the 1,600$ area.

You are maybe talking about cutting losses and not shorting as selling it right now is only meant for you to save some capital you have left. The only way this could be called shorting is when it dips down further than what you sold it for, but as of right now I don't see Amazon going down again as its going up for three days now.
2524  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful of FOMO, FUD and shilling on: October 30, 2018, 07:52:11 PM
The most common victims here are always newbies, they came in the market unprepared both logically and emotionally that is why they are left like sitting ducks from this kinds of events. The fear of both not earning and losing money is what makes them take the bait and fall victim over and over again. This won't stop as even before we are using this terms (FOMO, FUD, shilling) or even before this market was made this things are happening in other markets as well, and the common thing they have is that the newbies are the ones being victimized by their own actions.
2525  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Pre-Season on: October 30, 2018, 06:41:35 PM
Time to laugh again!!! Lebron lost again Grin haha Playoff for them is getting darker! haha It always feels good to see them defeated. Kudos to Thibodeau's squad! Jimmy Buckets, you gave me BTC today. Thank you!
As as Timberwolves fan, all I can say good about Jimmy Butler is that he is still playing his best even though he wants to be traded away. It is good for both him and the organization as it makes him more tradeable to some good pieces as he is showing what his worth to other teams even though he is on a expiring contract. But Glen Taylor really needs to act now as nothing would really happen if both Thibs and Scott Layden will be handling the trade offers, I mean come one who will turn down 4 first round picks that easily? Only Thibs can do that.
2526  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-29] French Business School Accepts Fees in Bitcoin for Blockchain Techn on: October 29, 2018, 08:45:16 PM
There move makes sense as having a big class made up of a lot of foreign students there is no doubt that paying in BTC would cut a lot of expenses when it comes to paying for their courses. If students opt out on paying their tuition with BTC this could also be considered as there first lesson in entering a blockchain related course as not all people know how to even use cryptocurrency wallets in the first place. We need to see more of this kinds of schools where they are also aware of the latest trends and topics in which they will apply it into their own curriculum, this only shows that this schools wants the best for their students' future.
2527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Was wondering how many transaction i can sign per second on: October 29, 2018, 02:23:51 PM
What are you trying to accomplish with your test ? What do you want to test ?
That is what I am also wondering, I see no point of stress testing your hardware when it comes to signing transactions, this problem won't even be a problem if you know what you are trying to achieve. If you want a real benchmark to happen on your hardware you can try out Cinebench and 3dmark in order for you to compare your scores to other people, these two are one of the leading benchmark tools when it comes to measuring your pc's power.
2528  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for game developer on: October 29, 2018, 12:34:35 PM
You are better off finding a game developer in UpWork or Freelancer.com as all you will receive here are offers from newbies with out any reputation at all. At least in the websites I have mentioned you will see their qualifications as well as their customer feedback which you won't receive here from offers you are currently getting. And if you posted here because you will be paying Bitcoin as a mode of payment, you don't need to worry as some freelancers in those websites are also accepting cryptocurrencies. Don't fall for this kinds of services that are not proven, they might give you an attractive price but you won't get the work you are expecting to receive.
2529  Other / Meta / Re: Annual Comparison of User Registrations on: October 29, 2018, 10:28:54 AM
The boost of registrations  2018 is massive, likely a combination of hype and quite a lot of bot created accounts. I’ve taken the liberty to break 2018 down per month, in order to see how the correlation between the end of hype and account creation, and the picture is pretty clear:
I would agree with what you have said the boost in registration even after the bull run in December 2017 is brought not by the price of BTC but because of people exploiting Bitcointalk as a means of earning money. This bump bots and spam bots are the main reason why there are a lot of accounts even if the initial hype of Bitcoin has died down. The drop we are noticing in account registration this year might probably be because of the new merit system, bots being nuked, and the cryptocurrency industry being in the bear market.
2530  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: KYC challenges on: October 28, 2018, 06:22:51 PM
In Estonia, the citizens have a kind of Digital Identity, (working with a 2FA or a card with private keys) They can use it for everything needed for administration, banking, or whatever.
We could imagine similar, each citizen has an ID number and private keys and when a KYC verification is needed the citizen will just need to enter a code (keys or 2FA code)
Will this system be applicable to international ICO sales? I think the ICO developers should be aware of this system in order for the Estonians to avoid the traditional way of providing information. This might probably be the most convenient way of providing KYC to ICO developers as it will work well for all the parties (investors, developers, and the government), but the problem I see with this system is data leakages. Can you imagine if this network of data being accessed by other people other than their government and the ICO developers? It would compromised a lot of personal information and it will probably land to the wrong people.
2531  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustabit – The original crash game on: October 28, 2018, 03:17:00 PM
~snip~
Fantastic the site was just down for a moment and its now back up. The improvements you have done are not commonly complained in both the chat as well as in the ANN thread, but they are still nice additions to your gambling site nonetheless. Keep it up devans as you have improved the game and its services even if these areas are not yet causing a problem to majority of the community.
2532  Economy / Economics / Re: harmonization of fiat and crypto on: October 28, 2018, 02:34:01 PM
To even think plans in your proposal we should first ask ourselves if what you are asking is necessary. Come to think of it either kind of currency is destroying another kind of currency as both currencies are being used by both people. And to think that cryptocurrency won't have any value without fiat currency I think that destroying fiat currency won't even be a reality. Fiat currency, Credit Cards, Debit Cards, and Cryptocurrencies can co-exist as it won't be a threat to each other. Also most of the governments on each country also has its own plans about how will cryptocurrency coexist in their country so "harmonization" is really not a big problem.
2533  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did crypto affect your studies? on: October 28, 2018, 01:16:25 PM
This is an old thread but I still have some few new insights on the reasons why he failed. Not all kinds of crypto trading or trading in general can caused that guys grades he might be scalping or doing day trading that is why his time is split on trading as well as his studies. With day trading or scalping seconds and minutes are essential you cannot really do other things without you not focusing on it. There are other trading methods that is well suited for students like me. I mostly do position or swing trading which is much less time consuming compared to what he is doing. I really don't have to watch the prices all day as my style doesn't need me to do so.
2534  Economy / Exchanges / Re: My 1200 BTC Account Is Blocked By Binance on: October 28, 2018, 12:22:11 PM
Surely, I’ve already contacted a lawyer, in order to speed up the process of getting an access to my funds, however, I still can not find a reason of this block by Binance. Anyways, this message is a notification for every trader that one has to avoid he exchange, if they want to have an access to their funds.

P.S.: Funds are not SAFU, guys.

Are you really here to warn other members or are you just putting some dent on Binance's reputation? Either way your accusation will be much more effective if you have put some proof that you really held 1200 BTC in your Binance account, as simply putting an email of their help desk/customer support is not a valid proof, your account might be locked for some other reason which does not involve your alleged 1200 BTC. Other people are also saying the truth, why did you bought a newbie account? And I don't see any newbie restrictions here in this section? You are just making yourself not believable for most of the members here.
2535  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin after 5 Halving - 10 years from now - What will be its price? on: October 28, 2018, 11:15:37 AM
Long terms charts have no connection on Bitcoin's price or what it is now. By that time there is no doubt that more of Bitcoin's supply will be up and mostly available for the market, the question is will the miners make it available to the market or will they just hold it to make the price go up? Other factors such as regulation and mass adoption is also what we need to look at as this will really affect the demand 5-10 years from now, to keep it short having long term price predictions is really not a good idea as it will be inaccurate with a lot of factors to consider.
2536  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-28] Tim Draper says the SEC is “torn” about regulating the cryptospace on: October 28, 2018, 10:22:41 AM
Quote from the article provided:
I think the SEC is torn and I think it’s it’s okay because they’re torn between like going after the fraudsters who are taking advantage of the elderly, and making sure that all that technology does stay in the US. They know that  it’s a competitive world out there.”
Keep in mind the words "I think" in what Tim Draper have said in the news article, it simply means that he doesn't have any clue at all about the current situation the SEC is into, he is just basically expressing his opinion. And if his opinion is somehow true then I think SEC is not the one who needs to handle the regulations on its own, they need to hand it down to their legislative body as it is really taking so long and a lot of people are already affected. They need someone to become an oversight to their plans in the cryptocurrency industry.

I am just giving you one possibility on the question you asked :
^ Then this has to be the dumbest thing I've ever seen, copy a message that was just posted. I still don't find a reason, why would you do that.. Huh
Also keep in mind that his proof of signed message was one of his last post which really does not prove that he was the owner all through out of the existence of the account. He might created this signed message as back up when the original owner will try to recover his/her account.

Chances are somebody new owns that legendary account who was bought from the original owner. The new owner maybe is not aware that plagiarism is not allowed here in the forum thus resulting in a ban. Also its weird that an inactive account (Last post was August 2) suddenly tries to go online 9 days after they are banned from plagiarism. It seems to me that William8062/guigui371 has other accounts that is why he tried to went active again.
2539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Pre-Season on: October 25, 2018, 07:05:48 PM
Kobe was just mocking man, if you watched the full video he says no right afterwards, it's Jimmy Kimmel, that is a silly having fun interview. Kobe won't return no matter what, he already built himself a life after retirement, dude even won a freaking oscar (albeit could be really because he is Kobe and not because the short movie deserved an oscar). I think Kobe is not even that much in the Lakers world at all, he probably watches them but that is about it.
You are right Kobe won't chase another ring anymore and he won't win another one considering that the Lakers team now is really just built around Lebron. Kobe Bryant is already busy doing things regarding his new hobby/job which is investing and I don't think he can now manage doing both especially when his mind is on his investments. Let us not forget that his reason for his retirement is because his body cannot take it anymore and he made that clear in his retirement letter.
2540  Economy / Economics / Re: WILL BITCOIN PROVIDE SOLUTIONS THIS Time? on: October 25, 2018, 06:30:01 PM
Let us just remember that the cryptocurrency market is the one who have stumbled first from the other Markets in the world. We are currently down -67% from our all time high compared to NASDAQ's and DOW's YTD which is +6.08% and +1.04% respectively. Even if their market is falling down now we are the ones who already reached our bottom and thinking that investors will jump ship in order to place their money in our market, think again as this investors won't enter a market where they don't know the bear market will end.
