1821  Economy / Economics / Re: Price of goods goes up, salary never goes up!!! on: May 16, 2019, 04:32:03 PM
You know that this isn't true right? 30 years ago or in the 1980s you would expect to have a starting salary of 18,000$ annually and at the present date you are expected to at least earn 50,000$ for anyone who at least finish a college degree, now even if you factor in inflation and 50,000$ for a starting salary is a much bigger bump in price compared to what we have 30 years ago. Now that you have been an employee for more than 30 years than I expect you to at least go over than 50,000$ with the expected salary increases and promotions you jave received in the past.
1822  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bull or bull trap on: May 16, 2019, 03:28:48 PM
Why are you even asking this question? Obviously the market right now is way beyond any chances of its current movements on just being a bull trap, why? Because simply together with its upward movements along the way he had broken three key resistances that made Bitcoin go down in the past, another key indicator confirming that is it never  attempted to weaken on these levels confirming the bullishness of the market.

Other simple indicators are as simple as looking at the volume where you will see that the increasing volume is also supporting the increasing prices which simply mean that the price increase is not manipulated by a small group of people.
1823  Other / Meta / Re: The fastest UNBAN for plagiarism on: May 16, 2019, 02:46:28 PM
Is this enough to avoid punishment for plagiarism? And what do you tell other banned users?
I'll gladly answer your question but first can you define what's enough by your standards? Because if you are just asking me a two year ban on signatures and a 60 day ban on posting and sending pms is enough for a user to learn his/her lesson after being given a second chance. The duration of the said bans will also show us if the member is really here to be active in contributing in the forum again or just wants to be here to earn money.
1824  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2018-2019 on: May 15, 2019, 08:17:44 PM
It looks like an open final, both teams have a fair chance of winning, but Liverpool looks like the favorite to take the Champions League trophy.  Liverpool just lost one game in the premier league this season but Tottenham lost 13, and both matches between Liverpool and Tottenham ended with a 2-1 win.

Winning in PL and winning in CL is totally two different story. I will not take them (Tottenham) as an easy target. I hope Liverpool at least gets the CL title. We were really close to get EPL this year.
If we are talking about Premier League and Champions League comparisons here than Tottenham will be Champions here, if you have forgotten Tottenham Hotspurs have defeated the top club in the EPL during the Quarter Finals in the Champions League, Man City lost in an upset at their own home. So if we are talking about Tottenham being an easy target for Liverpool than think again they overcome the top club in their own league and they are most likely match with Liverpool in this sense.
1825  Economy / Reputation / Re: REEE: What's wrong with Vod, and Hhampuz on: May 15, 2019, 06:55:51 PM
Just to clarify, because I haven't read all the posts and threads in this drama:  what would Vod be getting a pass on?  Did he dox OgNasty?  Did he report him to the IRS?  I may have missed where these things actually happened, or the posts might have been deleted before I read them.  I read a bunch of threats on Vod's part, but I'm not sure what he actually did.  And are the huge merit grants part of this issue or what?

I'm not trying to shut down discussion on this.  On the contrary, I think it should be discussed until there's a resolution.  I'm not playing ignorant, either.  I have a tendency to skim threads, but in the ones involving Vod and OgNasty I did read them but don't know what Vod's offense was.  I know he thinks OgNasty is cheating the IRS and was going to report him, but while that's controversial within this community it's not exactly wrong (if it's true).
I too haven't catch up with what happened and the original thread might have been deleted but theymos' post gave a brief background on what happened.

Post by theymos

I was disgusted by the reckless and vicious doxing in this case, where:
 - The evidence was very thin.
 - Even if all of the allegations were true, it'd likely result only in civil penalties, not criminal.
 - The whole thing was motivated merely by past arguments. OgNasty never caused Vod to even lose anything, as far as I know. An utterly ridiculous & disproportionate escalation.
 - It's based on the premise that purely statutory crimes are directly unethical, which I don't agree with at all, though I'm willing to mostly look past this as subjective.

It's good that Vod came to his senses on this after the fact, though doing it at all certainly blemishes his reputation in my mind, and I added to my notes the fact that those users merited such a post. Meriting it is saying basically that we need more posts like this on the forum, and we do not need more posts like this on the forum.

Red-trusting Vod over this is an appropriate usage of red-trust, since his actions here are highly trust-relevant. But I tend to think that since he edited his post and seems to genuinely regret at least the public doxxing part, it'd be best to forgive.

For the meriters, I can understand the argument for red-trust, but I tend to think that it's at the wrong level. If the meriter was meriting it because they were actively thinking, "I want to make the forum really vicious, where everyone is constantly tearing each other apart for stupid things, and this post moves in that direction," even that's not really a trust-relevant motive, just a very unhelpful motive. And probably the meriters were thinking more innocent things than that.

So from my understanding Vod may have shown public information about OgNasty with regards to the allegation he is involved it and got red tagged from it as well as the ones who have sent merit/s from the post, all tags were sent by teeGUMES. So with the long discussion involve and even though theymos supported and gave a green light to the red tag for Vod, teeGUMES had spoke to Vod privately and fix some things that lead to the removal of the red tags for both Vod and the merit senders.

Post by teeGUMES
After having a grown up conversation with Vod, we both understand eachother's side and have had the edited dox post in Investigations deleted. I have removed my red ratings from the merit posters. If a different tool were available to achieve this same effect I would have used it, it was never my intention to tarnish the great work that the four individuals do every day on this forum. If no tool ever appears I will act no differently in the future, your exclusions may remain and you will not be excluded in retaliation.

Summary
  • The Dox has been removed
  • Vod has been contacted by teeGUMES
  • The conversation may have ended in good terms that result into the removal of the red tags
1826  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The Urgency for Scammer Blacklist on: May 15, 2019, 03:12:28 PM
The Bitcoin industry has been rife with a wide variety of exit scams, phishing attempts and other such schemes since its earliest days, but nevertheless there have not yet been any serious attempts to formalize such a blacklist system.
And how can such blacklist stop exit scams and phishing attempts from happening? Not unless they have the power to block ip addresses, phishing sites or stop transactions from happening a blacklist is just a list with no power from stopping any scam from happening in the future. Harlot is right to say that they could easily create a new identity and not only that they can still create new phishing sites as well as new scam HYIP sites in order to fool more people again.  Scams won't stop not unless people stop being victimized by them already.
1827  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Selling your own token for fiat currency. Possible? on: May 15, 2019, 02:14:25 PM
I believe that's what you call a ICO private sale but the only difference is your ICO sale has already been finished and you are selling your token with the project's own supply after the token allocation. In my personal opinion in a investor's point of view I wouldn't like to see the project on selling anymore coins after an ICO has finished as it can easily be translated to them just dumping their token after the ICO sale. If a lot of investors have seen your token as a pump and dump coin it would reflect negatively in your token's price which I have seen in a lot of times in the past already.
1828  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-5-14] SEC Again Delays Decision on Bitwise Bitcoin ETF Approval on: May 15, 2019, 01:10:57 PM
With the delays I am seeing for more than a year now on Bitcoin related ETFs I am starting to wonder if the SEC is just purposely denying and extending the deadline and that they are just following on one of their higher ups above them. Because this isn't the SEC I know who acts quickly when it involves around their Stock Market or even their Money Market. Add a lot more extensions than I think it will just confirm what I am saying that they really don't have any interest on having a Bitcoin ETF or someone else is just telling them to do so.
1829  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: May 14, 2019, 08:39:17 PM
The difference between Sixers and bucks is that Giannis is actually a great defender whereas whoever guarded Kawhi most of the game (sometimes Ben Simmons but he is know as a passer not a defender) but when it comes to Giannis dude can literally lock down anyone because his size and wingspan is incredibly so he never gives you a clear shot, even if he is a bit late when he jumps his arms are covering that distance. That is why I think raptors are going to have a lot of trouble working the ball on Kawhi as much as they did on Sixers series, however same goes for Kawhi as well, he is one of the best defenders in the league if not the best defender which means Giannis will not be beasting over him that easily, Celtics had no solution to him whereas raptors have Kawhi defending him.
I've never paid attention to any Kawhi/Giannis matchup in the past but out of the 4 games they met in the regular season Toronto Raptors only won one game and Kawhi in that game only scored 30 points while Giannis I think scored 43 points. Given with their regular season matches the Bucks really do have an edge here since they have outscored them by a lot in the three games they won against them. Toronto needs to find a way to neutralize their scoring in order to defeat them and defense isn't one of the Toronto's specialty.
1830  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Union Bank To Launch Peso Stable Coin (UPHP) on: May 14, 2019, 07:39:43 PM
Malakas ang kutob ko na ang UPHP ay para lang magiging Gcash or Smart Money ng mga Telecom providers natin. Yes it will be a stablecoin by design but it has no means of becoming a traditional crypto that Filipinos need to learn.
1831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Revealed in 21 Minutes (James Harris Simons exposed is my guess) on: May 14, 2019, 07:03:02 PM

Here's your satoshi, an "AI" who would deliver in your news or some kind of content to monetize people. This was just a marketing strategy to gather as much attention as they can for free. This is just some kind of product that have used a textbook marketing strategy to make some buzz in the industry. People should have already taken a hint when they have announced partners right in their website wondering why they need to have partners just for an announcement of  revealing an identity.
1832  Economy / Reputation / Re: Regarding: Recurrent Reproaching Restitutive Responses on: May 14, 2019, 06:21:51 PM
With regards to thread hijacking I think that the user has more control if he opted out on making his thread self-moderated. Self-moderated topics are some kind of repellent signature spammers and trolls alike that even if they attempt to ruin the conversation the OP has the choice to remove the worthless posts on his own.
1833  Economy / Economics / Re: Starbucks, Nordstrom And Whole Foods Now Accept Bitcoin on: May 14, 2019, 04:22:17 PM
One big question here is what the media and pro establishment response will be, if any.
One thing I learn about the media is they'll pay extra attention to the bad news and exploit ot rather than good news. Because all they want to see is mistakes within the system as its what creates the buzz and more traffic for their website. To be honest the media don't even give a damn about the progress or developments for the crypto industry all they care aboit are juicy news that can make them earn cash.
1834  Other / Meta / Re: [UNBAN APPEAL] markiz73 on: May 13, 2019, 08:24:20 PM
~

I don't think it's fair to compare everyone to ChiBitCTy or other unbanned users. Users can contribute to the forum in different ways. Is markiz73's ban "net negative" for the forum? Possibly. Worth a try to appeal it I think.

Yeah, I do get that and theymos made the point that it's a case by case basis on the way of handling ban appeals. I'm just giving the OP an example of a user who got unbanned based from the other things he have done in the forum which obviously had outweighed the plagiarism he did. I just hope theymos is in the same page on viewing markiz73's case even though he is only mainky active in the Russian board, in this case maybe some Russian members commending him might help the decision.
1835  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: May 13, 2019, 07:43:37 PM
Domenico Berardi said on a statement that he is open to any moves with A.C. Milan saying that it his part of his maturation process he gained from playing with Sassuolo. Milan might bite with his interest since Samu Castillejo hasn't showed any good performance for the team. The main problem with this move would likely be about the money involve with the transfer. Since Berardi is the most valuable player for Sassuolo I don't think they would accept any flimsy offers for him.
1836  Other / Meta / Re: [UNBAN APPEAL] markiz73 on: May 13, 2019, 06:47:44 PM
When theymos said it's "handled case-by-case" I do think he only meant deserving people to be given a second chance in the forum. From what I know ChiBitCTy was one of the recent members who got unbanned from plagiarism and using him to compare markiz73's contributions to the forum you will see that he doesn't compare to ChiBitCTy in a way theymos would reconsider him back in the forum. For one ChiBitCTy has a lot of Trusted Feedback associated with transactions in the forum compared to 1 Untrusted Feedback markiz73 has. His contributions are only limited to topics related to mining in the Russian board and some announecments on new mining equipment while ChiBitCTy on the other hand have organized charity events and even though he got banned from posting he still is active in the forum reading topics and chatting members through chat groups consisting of forum members while markiz73 on the other hand shows that he hasn't been active in the forum since the day he was banned. Using ChiBitCTy's situation as an example I don't think that markiz73 is qualified to be unbanned in the forum but it's really up to theymos to decide on his case.

You can see the ChiBitCTy's ban appeal thread here

By the way for people who are wondering his unban conditions also comes with a signature ban. Just go to his profile and you will see his sig section saying "Banned from displaying signatures until March 09, 2020, 08:24:44 PM" so if you just want to unban him for him to join signature campaigns you need to consider this one.
1837  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Defending your profits without timing the market on: May 13, 2019, 05:16:29 PM
I prefer to margin trade to accumulate BTC rather than cash out for dollars.
I believe that what you are doing isn't called margin trading since it involves you borrowing/lending money out for a loan in order to trade in assets, you might just be re-investing your profits earned from trades in order to accumulate more when it has bottomed out. This is a popular approach for traders who aren't willing to add more additional capital to trade they just rather sell high and buy low to accumulate again and for the type of market we have this is a an ideal strategy for a lot of traders to profit at the same time accumulate more position.
1838  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to sell my BTC? on: May 13, 2019, 04:11:29 PM
Maybe you should ask the question differently, you should ask yourself is where you can't sell your Bitcoins in? Because most international or popular exchanges and wallets out their only cater cash outs via bank deposits to countries such as United States and some European countries and if you aren't living in one of them your best bet of cashing out is moving your BTC or coins to a local exchange or a local wallet provider in your country since they offer a wide variety of cash outs only available for your country, I'll choose to sell my coins on a local exchange since conversion rates in local wallets are always in favor for the wallet not you. And if you aren't patient on your sell order being matched in the exchange then transactions are faster in localbitcoin as you directly transact to a buyer.
1839  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-12] ‘Facebook Coin’ Will Be More Like Bitcoin Than Starbucks Rewards, S on: May 13, 2019, 03:09:30 PM
But regardless of the type and number of predictions put forward, one thing is sure. Facebook’s digital coin won’t be anything like Bitcoin.

It will be issued, developed and controlled by a centralized authority. Its ledger will not be immutable, and access will likely require your Facebook account.
Well this is new, the website created a misleading headline for the news and instantly told the truth in one of the parts of their article. Nevertheless its still a misleading headline I'm just glad that they contradicted what the analyst have told in the interview. I'm a regular Facebook user and I have seen it change a lot, they recently added a "marketplace" section for people who buys and sells and have heard news of implementing a payment scheme within their messenger app which is a vital tool for people transacting in Facebook. FB won't be doing this for free since they implemented this to monetize it soon enough and this new crypto might be their way to earn from its users again.
1840  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Simplex.com SCAM on: May 13, 2019, 02:24:25 PM
Hey there @gopu5 can you talk more about your transaction with Simplex.com because I have seen a Reddit post which is pretty similar to your case but the OP has been contradicted by a lot of users of the same service. Other recent post like this one has also receive the same feedback denying that the service is doing any kind of scam and they have more than one transaction with them. This is probably just an isolated case that can be resolve by forwarding an email to them.
