Crypto-Games has the lowest possible minimum bet on dice (1 Satoshi) for Bitcoin and they also accept multiple altcoins. The minimum bets on other games are also pretty low, but maybe not the lowest of all casinos.
You can definitely test all the games their with the faucet.

I would personally also invest in some privacy focused coins like Monero and/or Zcash. You can already see that Monero is doing really great and it's only going to get bigger in the future due to a lot of illicit services switching from BTC to Monero.

The obvious answer here would be finance of course, we are in a Bitcoin forum after all. But aside from that, I think another area that could greatly benefit from blockchain would be notarization.
Blockchains are a perfect way to store information in a way that it can't be adjusted or deleted, I imagine this would be very useful for notary purposes.

It's possible to send a timelocked transaction to yourself that can't be spent before a certain time and date or alternatively by certain block height. That way you can lock away Bitcoin that you don't want to spend on gambling, it's pretty easy to do. Have a look at this topic if you're interested in learning how to create a timelocked transaction: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2415595This is the best advice to gamblers who wants to save from their winnings. I also thinking on how to do this since gambling is very tempting, it will tempt us to spend the amount we are saving to bet it on gambling games. Now this advice gave hope to people who wanted to invest and/or play and wanted to avoid spending their Bitcoin savings. Thank you for the link this really helps. No problem, it was about time that someone said something useful in these kinds of threads, it's usually just regurgitated crap mentioning the same stuff over and over. It's actually thanks to one of Andreas Antonopoulos's talks that I remembered the existence of timelocked transactions. He mentioned that it could be used for people who have a shopping addiction, so it's probably also useful for people with a gambling addiction

Because litecoin is much cheaper than other significant coins. Many people then bought litecoin and then now its price skyrocketed.
I personally don't think people buy a coin for it's lower pricerange, they could've just bought 0.05 bitcoin for example. What I think the reason is, after reading all the replies on this topic, is the slow transactions and high fees on Bitcoin and Ethereum the past few days. Litecoin is the best choice after them, so many people started using Litecoin. Yeah, Litecoin has seen a pretty big spike in transaction these past couple of months so it looks like people are actually starting to use it for its intended purpose. Currently we're seeing almost 160k transactions per day! Source: https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/litecoin-transactions.htmlI mean why shouldn't people use it instead of Bitcoin? Transactions are 4 times faster than with Bitcoin and there's no drama in the community as with Bitcoin.

Yes, decentralization is important for Bitcoin because the reasons you've listed. Bitcoin could be easily taken down by governments if it wasn't decentralized, it's comparable to the torrent protocol in that way. This doesn't mean that there isn't centralization within the Bitcoin ecosystem, most people choose to exchange Bitcoin for fiat and altcoins through centralized exchanges. But as a user you're not forced to make use of any centralized infrastructure, you can easily just use the blockchain for p2p transactions. Here's a pretty good article from Erik Voorhees about the matter: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/bitcoin-truly-decentralized-yes-important-1421967133/

I didn't know too much about hardware wallets, so I was surprised to see that these past forks have been supported by Ledger.
Quoting Ledger's CTO on the matter: "We can easily support forks that have a price and are legit. I don't believe [ Super Bitcoin][...] is, but that's just my opinion" Both BTG and BCH run with the same chrome application as the Bitcoin app does, the changes are considerably small for most forks. IIRC syncing the BTG node took them more time after the fork than getting the code and app ready. It's nice of them that they offer this service for all of their customers while they don't have to, in my opinion at least. I have a Ledger Nano sitting here, but haven't touched it yet, it's probably going to be the easiest way to get future forked coins...

you're no longer going to distribute any further forks.
They didn't say anything of the sort. They will keep distributing forked coins, provided they're supported by Ledger, which has always been the case in the past. It was pretty late and I just quickly skimmed over the article, so I missed that part, you're correct. I didn't know too much about hardware wallets, so I was surprised to see that these past forks have been supported by Ledger. I've edited my previous post to avoid any confusion and not spread misinformation, sorry for the error.

An important step in bankroll security and announcement about future forks can be read on our blog. I don't mind that in order to have better security, you're no longer going to distribute any further forks. Glad that you guys are switching to Ledger Blue hardware wallets, it's probably a step up from your current custom cold wallet set-up Also, it would get pretty annoying if you'd have to keep distributing forked coins every few weeks... EDIT: I was wrong, forks will be distributed as long as they're supported by ledger. See my response below.

Exchanges will definitely not disappear because some people are just not technically adept enough to make use of atomic swaps. Think about how many people only use Coinbase or other exchanges to hold their Bitcoins and altcoins.
I'm sure that there are many other reasons why people will continue to use centralized exchanges, aside from ease of use for newbies.
That said, I really hope atomic swaps will arrive sooner rather than later. At least lightning network is further than I originally thought.

What do you mean? Altcoins are actually doing pretty good in my opinion... Litecoin's value just trippled in less than 7 days time! It went from $100 to around $300, you call that a slump?
Just because Bitcoin is getting all of the attention due to one ATH after the other doesn't mean that you can't make a decent profit by trading altcoins.
Monero is another altcoin that has been doing really good and there are dozens more.

|
Why do you trade and calculate your profit in dollars?? You can also trade with the purpose of getting a profit in Bitcoin instead of fiat currency. Try and focus on increasing the amount of Bitcoin you have by trading if you're good at it.
You should have no problem increasing your Bitcoin principal at the current volatility.
Anyone who is not good at trading should just hold, maybe do some trades at large price movements.
|
|
|
When you look at volatility as a percentage, you will see that it has been dropping steadily for a really long time now. This trend will definitely continue and volatility will keep decreasing as the market cap increases. It will probably still take a pretty long time before we reach the same level as gold or traditional currencies. You've clearly built this using a free app builder and it looks a bit unprofessional. Can you remove the advertisement ('Created in Gamebuilder') that's seen in one of the pictures? And why use those unclear pictures, I think it would be difficult enough without doing that, just doesn't look too good.
Are you planning on adding this to the play store?

These casinos should be sued for fraud, I mean how is it possible that they can blatantly cheat on live video without any consequences. Someone should file a complaint with the local gambling authority to have their license revoked.
I wonder to what extent these live games are rigged in favor of the casino...
If this isn't good advertisement for provably fair gambling, I don't know what is. Support provably fair casinos instead of these scammers!

Yeah, this section is suited if you need some more help with planning or if you want people to review the details. If you're just looking for a place to make an announcement about your workshop, you can also post in the 'Meetup' section. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=86.0

Do you guys offer binary options and sports? Thanks for letting me know!
Not at the moment, no. Lutpin, you have your username in your referral link, is that something everybody can do or is it something custom? With me it's just random numbers and letters, can I just replace it with my username?

I prefer to gamble with alts on Crypto-games because they also offer an exchange service on their website. I can just play with Bitcoins and then convert to altcoins on their website to cash out when the mempool is full like now.
They also offer instant withdraws for all their coins, which is a must for me personally.
