Hola Bitcoinland. Happy Thanksgiving to all you Gringos. Enjoy your Black Friday. I got some great deals this past weekend at El Buen Fin in Playa Del Carmen. I'll get to do it again in Toronto on Boxing Day.

Nice to see some semblance of sideways again... currently $4492USD/$5924CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Let's hang tough until I can get home and buy this dip.

The. bear. market. is. over. The writing is on all of the walls. I'm telling you. I'm staking my reputation on this point.

Can't take you seriously without a hat. Don't doodle on our fucking wall.

Your wall?

I think BMB/RWF/TC has a little seniority.
____

Hi Mayor old buddy. Glad to see you seem to have shaken the gloom and left the doom in the Rose garden.

Welcome back. Life's a laugh if you let it. A bitch if you don't.

Thoroughly enjoying myself living happily ever after, currently in Mexico with my face full of fresh new implants, thinking it's almost time to declare happy hour. Picked up some Hendrick's gin in Playa, some Martini & Rossi extra dry vermouth here in my jungle town and was gifted a Rancho Escondido shotglass and a needle-less syringe to measure exactly 1cc of extra juice to accompany a stuffed Manzanilla olive. I think I'll make a perfect Martini. Better throw a glass in the freezer.

I do agree though that a nice new hat would do wonders for framing your shining face.

Cheers.

Dozens of tiny drivers? We used to think that Bose 801's made good PA too - back in the day.

(Truth be told, I've not heard the PJ's. But in my experience, plentiful bass requires surface area.)

dude, "there is no replacement...for displacement" used to be my mantra

I was agog when I heard that little thing, genuinely shocked.

i dunno, i prefer lots of 10" drivers in bass cabinets. faster response than 15"s because of the lower mass. gives more punch.

but cabinet design and driver specs makes a difference too, so it depends i guess.

I was always a big woofer guy myself. Ever try an Ampeg Portaflex B-18? The extra 3" of speaker diameter really made a difference over the more common B-15. It was like having 32' bass organ pipes.

Today's acoustically coupled multiple small woofers have started to win me over though. My little Roland busker's bass amp with its four 4" speakers puts out surprising bass.

The concept of acoustically linking an array of smaller speakers is actually quite old. I was only 12 years old when Popular Electronics magazine published a hi fi speaker construction project called the Sweet Sixteen in their January 1961 edition. It used 16 5" speakers to achieve "sub-sonic" bass response of 20-30 hz, which was very good for the time.

I so wanted to build one but being in grade school at the time, it was beyond both my budget and my abilities. $50 was a  good week's wages for an adult in those days.

I couldn't find the original article but here's a PDF of a follow-up article a few months later when they added a tweeter.

https://www.jimkyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Sweet-16.pdf

There's nothing new under the sun.

Dig Bicks is the NotLambChop of this cycle.

I suggest you put him/it on ignore.

I waited the longest time before I finally made NLC the second name on my ignore list, after MatTheTwat.

At least she had a glimmer of intelligence though, despite being an obnoxious asshole.

Can't say the same about DB. He's obviously not the sharpest wad of gum in the knife drawer.

His choice of an image to post speaks volumes in support of what my post implied.  Roll Eyes Stupid kid just doesn't get it.

Sigh.

I'm curious about your user name.

I can clearly see the spoonerism but why is it pluralized?

Is it what you like?  Grin

In between I sold bits of coin to buy myself a nice Gallien-Kruger bass amp and a Honda generator to back up the unreliable power grid in my village in Mexico.

The GK stuff is nice, but are you hip to the Phil Jones amps Jimbo?  It is counterintuitive, they are based on a 4" ported cell, you want louder/bigger, they just parallel a bunch of them up.  I played with a guy a while back that had the 2x4" shoebox.  I was understandably dubious, but that thing was unbelievable!  Give them a look for portable, seriously.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out.

For the present, my GK serves me just fine for my electric basses. For my rubber string Goldtone acoustic Microbass, I use a little battery-powered Roland modeling bass amp with 4x4" speakers to add a little bottom end and make it really sound like a stand-up bull fiddle. Use it mostly in "flip-top" (Ampeg B15) mode.

My GK is the 150 watt alloy model with a single 12" speaker and solid alloy chassis. I've used it in small clubs, larger 400-500 seat rooms and even outdoor open-air gigs without having to turn it up anywhere close to all the way. It has a sound and presence that absolutely rocks.

Perhaps I should mention I prefer a clean undistorted sound with lots of bottom end, minimal mid-range and just enough treble for some pick snap when I use a pick.

Flat wound strings of course. In fact I'll rub cigarette ashes and butter into new strings to get rid of the annoying treble. No Rotosounds for me thanks. My bass guitar heroes are Carol Kay, James Jamerson and Duck Dunn, not Jaco Pastorius or Flea.

Where are BlindMayorBitcorn and Aminorex and Jimbo at these days ??

Jimbo's in the jungle with spotty internet

BMB/RW is hiding under his bed whimpering and calling for his mommie

I'm in the jungle with working internet for now (touch zapote). Heading back to Toronto in a week. Hopefully I'll still be able to buy some coins at these bargain prices. Why is it that the best buying opportunities always seem to happen when I'm in the jungle?
_____

I'm pretty sure I know where BMB/RWF is but I'l remain silent out of respect for his opsec.

Good morning Bitcoinland. Back in the jungle with my new implants, stitches removed, and a working internet connection.

I see we seemed to have bottomed out last night and we're on the rise again... currently $4810USD/$6368CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

It went all the way down to where we were in October 2017, over 13 months ago.

Medium-term (3-5 years) holders are still doing quite well for themselves, with values increased by thousands of percent. Longer-term holders have done extremely well for themselves.

Life is good in Bitcoinland.
_____

Regarding "hodling", I noticed the debate about what constitutes holding. Some seem to think that it somehow involves never selling.

I consider myself a holder but I have certainly sold bitcoins when I needed fiat currency for whatever reason. It's just that when I sold it wasn't based on the price, it was based on need.

My first purchased coins cost me $68CAD each. My average cost is less than $300CAD each. Last January I sold some coin for $21kCAD each to buy my house in Mexico. Last March I sold some coin for over $10kCAD each to pay for dental bone graft and sinus lift surgery and buy 2 more Mexican properties. A couple of weeks ago I sold some coins for over $8kCAD each to pay for my implants ans trip down. In between I sold bits of coin to buy myself a nice Gallien-Kruger bass amp and a Honda generator to back up the unreliable power grid in my village in Mexico.

Holding doesn't mean not selling. It means being an investor rather than a trader/gambler.
2568  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 16, 2018, 05:51:30 PM
No chance. We’re at the bottom now.

I agree mostly, but I said the same thing at $5780 back in June.

I thought we'd seen capitulation with volume in February and that when it went below $5.8k in June it was just the final double-bottom dip before the slow climb back up, similar to the August 2015 dip down under $200 after high-volume capitulation the previous January.

Wednesday's medium-sized dip was enough to prove that wrong.

That said. I'll be buying as soon as I get back to where there's competitive Bitcoin ATM commerce.

good,GOOD,GOOD someone thats keep the BULL alive in WO

Don't worry. There are lots of bulls around here.

They're just to busy enjoying the fruits of the Bitcoin lifestyle to bother trying to get a word in edgewise between the sniveling of the worrywarts.
2569  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 16, 2018, 05:08:02 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

We seem to have leveled off after the dip a couple of days ago... currently $5636USD/$7407CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Could be going sideways for a bit. Then again, the honey badger just might come out of hibernation at any time. Sometimes any little spark of news or FUD can be enough for the market movers to send it shooting up or down again.

I think they're still in accumulation mode and this $800 discount is serving them well. Too bad for the traders and others trying to make a quick buck. Holders and other long-term investors don't give a rat's ass about this minor crap. Anyone who has been buying the dips for years and only selling as necessary will still be earning a fiat profit any time they do have to sell.

All the whining and capitulation gives me heart though. Maybe we're getting closer to real full-market capitulation, turning around and properly heading back up again. More likely, it's more sideways for a while.

Oh well. That's that.

I don't get a prize for being in the lead for the longest time, do I?

Holy moley Bitcoinland.

I've been without the internet since going out to the jungle a few days ago. Dude was working on fixing the service as I was leaving to go to the city for my delayed dental implant surgery today. Just woke up from the aftereffects from the anesthesia and logged on at the hotel.

Yowzer. Seems we had the big dip some people were waiting for... currently $5638USD/$7422CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

I'm glad I was able to pay for my surgery (around 3 coins) while I could still get over $8kCAD/btc including fees. Got an extra kiss when the dentist offered to wait until May for the $8.7kUSD that I was going to pay him with one of my credit cards  that was refused, despite having a $10k+CAD credit balance.

As is it, I now have 16 fresh new implants in my face and instead of having to sell some Bitcoin to pay off the credit card when I head back up north, I'll have enough spare cash to buy some coins while the price is still low, and I won't have to sell any more coins until May when I finally get zirconia "Hollywood" teeth. Life is good.

Unfortuneately it seems I'm eliminated from Micgoosens' bottom-price-by-the-new-year game. Oh well. Win some lose some.

Good morning Bitcoinland from lovely Playa del Carmen.

Still going sideways... currently $6406USD-$8470CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

At least its not going down.

An extremely early good morning Bitcoinland.

Still sideways... currently $6501USD/$8515CAD (Bitcoinaverage). Nothing new.
_____

Sitting in the airport waiting for my plane. Maybe a few weeks in 30C+ weather will help me shake this cold I've been fighting for the last week or so. Looking forward to 16 lovely new dental implants.

Thank you Bitcoin.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still going sideways... currently $6543USD/$8577CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Sorry, a mere $100 rise is still sideways to me.

Yawn.

I just noticed that my activity just broke 2 grand.

I'd get all you guys a drink to celebrate but I've gotta run to do a gig. Gigging helps keep me young and gets me laid (sometimes).

See you in the morning if I'm not too hung over.

Now researching supermodel chests.

I've got nothing against supermodels' fried egg tits. I'm more of an ass man.

That said, I'm turned off by fat-assed skanks like Kim Kardashian. She really needs butt reduction surgery. Worse than an over-titted cow with nipples at her knees.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still as flat as a supermodel's chest... currently $6440USD/$8420CAD (Bitcoinaverage). Ho fuckity hum.

Actually, now that I've already sold what I needed for my trip/implants, I don't mind the price being flat for a little while longer. I'm expecting revenues in January  and the chance to get cheap coins then would be welcome.

This is probably the most interesting and fun thread on the forum, from the fact that I saw. All with such beautiful caps. When I have a high rank, I will also wear an avatar with a cap “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. Thank you for the good mood!  Grin
Welcome, comrade! May all your llamas be fat and your private keys in your own possession!

Welcome Oprah. Buy what you can afford to not worry about when the price dips, hold on for dear life, and sell only when necessary.

V8, didn't you mean alpacas?  Cool

you might even have to give your hat up.

Not a chance. I could bring you back a cheap tacky straw tourist sombrero though.  Cool
