261  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Putin barely let Carlson speak, then humiliated him on: February 09, 2024, 11:08:22 PM
~
Imagine how this interview is going to look in the history books...

This whole situation with Carlson seems kinda sketchy if you ask me.  I mean, here weve got this presidential race going on, plus the Republicans are trying to block aid to Ukraine and  then Carlson goes and interviews Putin out of the blue? Come on.

Putin seemed pretty smug about the whole thing.  He basically told Carlson flat out that if the US stops sending weapons to Ukraine, the war would be over "in a few weeks".  Not exactly subtle.  Clearly Putin sees a guy like Carlson as useful idiot to spread his message.  And Carlson will get a good financial benefit from the network from all this... So, win-win!
262  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM: Anonymous-casino.com (a-c.bet) refuses to pay $17,000 on: February 09, 2024, 09:30:18 PM
BTW, I found anonymous-casino on ltccasino's ANN thread.

Let me introduce absolutly new, revolutionary crypto casino - Anonymous-Casino.com

Does anyone know if they are confirmed to be related? or this is the first case hinting they could be?

Wtf is going on with LTC casino?

Their main domain (ltccasino.com) is down, and they initially posted a notice redirecting players to a new .io domain, but later removed it.

Now, they have gone even further by completely changing the title and first post of their ANN thread to Anonymous-Casino.com.
263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can't Access LTC Casino on: February 09, 2024, 09:14:28 PM
Wtf is going on with this casino?  I see that they first put a notice about the change of domain and then removed everything:

Dear Player!

Due to accessibility issues faced by users in several regions, LTC Casino has shifted its primary domain from https://www.ltccasino.com to https://www.ltccasino.io

For any support-related inquiries, please reach out to our team at the updated contact address: support@ltccasino.io

We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding!

I dont know why such questionable and shady behavior...
264  Other / Meta / Re: Locked topics, free speech on: February 09, 2024, 08:40:29 PM
I haven't tried to argue with anyone.   I'm not really the argumentative confrontational type.  Apologies.

I don't see an issue with having debates or talks if you have solid arguments and stuff to talk about.  This is a discussion platform, after all.

However, making claims like "I'm Satoshi" or "I made this forum" without offering any proof or rationale makes it seem you havent thought stuff through and just makes you look stupid.

I do like to write code though and that's why I'm back on the forums.  It's a strange feeling to revisit the past.  Aloha everyday

What do you mean by "I'm back on the forum"? Your account is less than a month old.  Are you making empty claims again?
265  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What are best and secured tools to create public keys ? on: February 08, 2024, 11:12:36 PM
~
In the past, a few wallets even supported receiving Bitcoins using public addresses but it is no longer common these days.

I think you might have a small typo there. Currently, all Bitcoin wallets allow users to receive Bitcoin using public addresses. Its the primary method for receiving Bitcoin.  Did you perhaps mean to say 'receiving Bitcoin using public keys'?
266  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Isn’t it better late than sorry? on: February 08, 2024, 10:56:31 PM
I agree. Its really not too late to get in the game now.  Sure, Bitcoins glory days of crashing down to three or four-digit numbers are likely behind us at this point but that does not mean you still cant slowly build up a position through dollar cost averaging or bit by bit out of your savings.  Even starting today, youd eventually find yourself sitting happy on a little pile of sats in the years ahead.  No need to wait around until it feels too late and regret sets in and  the time to gradually accumulate is right now while this thing still has plenty of upside in my opinion.
267  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have a habit of tracking your gambling progress? on: February 08, 2024, 10:48:32 PM
Tracking your gambling can be tricky.  It can help you watch your money and catch issues early.  But it can also suck you in more and make you obsess over losses.  So its kinda risky and  you gotta think hard about whether it helps or hurts for you.  Personally, Id be careful with it cause gambling already pulls at addictive strings for me.  Its still nice to have the data but keeping some distance helps me stay sane.

But if you find it useful to steer through all the betting and stuff, more power to you.
268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Blue card to be introduced in football. on: February 08, 2024, 10:35:27 PM
I don't think we really need it when the yellow and red cards work fine.  FIFA should think hard whether the blue card would help or just cause more referee headaches and  in my view, the current yellow for small fouls and red for big ones works okay.  Adding another card color could get messy unless it is for some specific situation that isnt handled well now.  But even then, seems like theres enough stoppages already without adding more.
269  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Im new here Im looking for your opion of my cryptocurrency real estate idea on: February 08, 2024, 09:56:22 PM

Ok, but I dont know why you need a new topic about it...

The last thing you posted in your thread was that you were looking for a bounty and social media manager. How did that end up?
270  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you beleive in the concept of "Luck"? on: February 07, 2024, 10:59:18 PM
  • Do you believe in Luck? If so, how do you describe your perception of this concept?

I do not believe in the concept of "luck" in any supernatural or spiritual sense. I describe the perception of this concept as an event or a series of events that statistically have a small chance of happening but still happen due to the randomness effect.

  • How lucky do you think you are from 1 to 10?

I do not.  As I said, I do not believe in the concept of luck in that sense

  • Does your sense of luck in regular life correlate with your luck in gambling?

Yes.  If the result is truly random and not manipulated by a third party, then I believe that the chances of something happening in gaming are the same as in real life, if the conditions are the same.

  • Do you believe that some special things or actions can increase your luck?

You mean like some superstitious rituals or something like that?  No, I do not think that such a thing can have any influence on the outcome.

272  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy bitcoin now? on: February 06, 2024, 11:02:27 PM
Do you think it is convenient to buy bitcoin now according to your predictions? Or wait for its value to drop further?

Sure, why not?  If you are comfortable with the risk and the price feels right, go for it!  Nobody has a crystal ball, and waiting could mean missing out if it starts shooting up again.

But ultimately, the decision of whether or not to buy Bitcoin now depends on you.
273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin be stolen? on: February 04, 2024, 08:25:36 PM
Now, can the security system of a wallet be weak?
How is that determined?

Well, Id say it can. The security of a wallet can definitely be weak.

Wallets are like any software - they can totes have security issues.  Hackers can take advantage of stuff like weak encryption or bugs in the code.  It is kind of like how scammers will call old people and pretend to be the IRS to get them to wire money.  But with wallets instead of using social engineering they exploit vulnerabilities.

So yeah, wallets can absolutely be insecure if the folks who put them together didnt lock down all the doors and windows so to speak.  Any piece of software comes with risks.  But theres good ones out there too - wallets made secure by design from ground up.
274  Economy / Reputation / Re: What happens if someone sells an account on a neighboring forum? on: February 04, 2024, 08:04:01 PM
At the end of the day, you have gotta watch your own back when dealing with strangers online. If you come across someone with a teleported account on the altcoinstalk forum, it is your responsibility to verify that information and confirm that it is indeed the same user as on the bitcointalk.org forum.
275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: way to sign/verify to prove ownership of an address without revealing it? on: February 04, 2024, 07:40:27 PM
~
I imagine in said document you could simply reveal Y & Z but in theory, an attacker could then cycle thru known addresses until one hash matches, so was looking to avoid this. Is the simplest method to just hash the revealed components one more time, withholding one of the inputs?

Is there a reason you have to reveal the entire message right away? In your scenario, you could first simply reveal Y (partially) & Z. Then, when proof is needed, you can reveal Y in full, and X to verify and confirm the signature.  That way, there is no real chance of an "attacker" finding X ahead of time.
276  Other / Meta / Re: If I'm Satoshi Nakamoto How do I prove it? on: February 04, 2024, 07:21:53 PM
As far as I know, theymos was appointed forum admin by satoshi himself. Later, a decision was made to separate the forum from the main bitcoin.org domain and move it to a new one. This decision was reached by consensus among prominent Bitcoin figures like Sirius, Theymos, and some other developers, exchange operators, etc.

You might consider exploring other posts from theymos during that period, such as this one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=33393.msg417531#msg417531

Well, thank you for that link and some clarification. The link is about the transfer of Forum domain to another and I don't think my question has been properly answered. I bolded some part of your comment which is the genesis of my initial question. I know it doesn't make any difference but if Satoshi himself appointed thymos as the admin, it could mean that thymos knows Satoshi or vice versa. I don't want to believe someone built a platform and all of a sudden, he left everything under the control of total strangers whom he never knew or met and disappeared. I might sound childish but thymos probably know whereabout of Satoshi, either dead or alive.

It was probably not all of a sudden. And as far as I know, theymos was not the only admin on the forum. You will notice that he is one of the oldest members and joined the forum only a few months after the forum was created. So it makes sense that Satoshi chose members who were active members of the community at the time and showed an interest in technology in the earliest days of Bitcoin. This does not necessarily mean that they knew each other or ever met in real life.
277  Other / Meta / Re: USE OF CHAT GPT-RULES on: February 03, 2024, 09:56:01 PM

I'd love a Btalk Bot that has kind of like a chat GPT engine but geared direclty towards helping the users/ newbies with literally anything. Would love to see this THEYMOS! I wonder if this has been discussed? Huh

Im not convinced we are there yet.  Tools like AI chatbots seem handy, but we gotta think about problems like misinformation, fake news, and whether they can really give people customized help and,  like say your Bitcoin wallet is acting up and you might lose your hard-earned coins - would you rather get a generic response from something like ChatGPT that might be wrong, or get advice from somebody trustworthy on a forum who really knows their stuff?

Im just not sure AI is ready to solve actual issues folks have.  And when your money or livelihood is at stake, you want a human who understands your specific sitch and has the skills to help, not just a bot spitting out what its algorithm thinks applies.  This stuff keeps improving but its gotta be way more advanced before Id rely on it for anything important.
278  Other / Meta / Re: If I'm Satoshi Nakamoto How do I prove it? on: February 03, 2024, 09:08:42 PM
Does this mean that Satoshi and thymos or other administrative staffs have any form of relationship? I'm just curious! If I am not mistaken, he (Satoshi) created the forum and I don't think anyone will handle anything vital as this forum to a random person and disappear. If he did not personally handle it to them, how did thymos and others assume the leadership role in the forum?

I'm not too good in tech and I don't know how the system operates but something is not clear to me here. I hope I'm not thinking nonsense... I really need some enlightenment.

279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Making informed decisions is our responsibility on: February 03, 2024, 08:04:27 PM
You make a fair point...  Knowledge is important, but this crypto landscape shifts quicker than a jackrabbit on caffeine and  trying to know it all can have your head spinning in circles.  Rather than aspiring to be a walking textbook, I think you should prioritize cultivating core critical thinking skills. They will serve as your foundation.

Think of it like constructing a house: logical reasoning provides the resilient framework while factoids are the bricks slotted in later.  Sure, scammers are crafty, but sound logic helps sniff out fishiness.  Steer clear of questionable links, vet info thoroughly before acting and be wary of too-good-to-be-true opportunities.  Getting rich quick often leads to losing money quicker.

With sharp critical thinking guiding you, the intricate details of crypto become less urgent.  Absorb knowledge steadily, but dont overwhelm yourself.  Having an inquisitive yet reasonable mindset helps cut through the clutter in this breakneck digital world.
280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you use profits from the crypto market? on: February 02, 2024, 10:21:37 PM
You make a fair point - those personal wins may seem trivial to some folks, but they can also mean a lot to some.  And there is nothing better than seeing the joy on your loved ones' faces when your crypto profits give them something special.  I have watched people rake in the cash only to forget to actually use it! They get caught up reinvesting everything back in, which is fine, but you gotta treat yourself sometimes too.  A crypto-funded pizza party? Heck yes!

To answer your specific questions:

1) Have I made profits and cashed some out? You bet!  Finally took that big family vacation weve always dreamed about.

2) Do I reinvest profits or use them? Id say I do both.  Reinvesting for potential future gains makes good financial sense but enjoying some rewards helps keep things in balance.

3) Is using some profits important? Absolutely, 100%.  Its all about finding that sweet spot between growing your investments and living a fulfilling life.  Crypto shouldnt be all stress and charts.

So yeah, pulling out profits here and there to enjoy or share is hugely important for me.  Keeps this rollercoaster rewarding on a human level.
