263  Economy / Reputation / Re: Petition for TheButterZone on: January 01, 2018, 04:13:57 AM
It seems like a bit of an overreaction on their part and I don't think that was ever the original intention of the trust system. Some people do take auction rules very seriously though and it does take time to set up, so they do not appreciate people who waste time. That said, the feedback is nonsensical and could be much better explained.

Bolded for emphasis, file under: Nothing is ever good enough?

Just let everybody get away with PTSD-bullying me, breaking contracts all over the place, by saying what amounts to "oops" every... single... time? No.

Everyone owns their fuckery.

That includes me being taken off DT (that I never asked to be on to begin with), for thinking that contractual terms can & should be written & enforced.

The highlighted auction term OP broke was quoted in the feedback.

OP's breaking of the auction term was quoted in the feedback.

OP complained after the auction term specifically said "...you agree to receive & NOT complain..."

The auction term specifying what it would take to have the feedback removed was also quoted in the feedback: "...the exact amount I lost when I did use an exchange - BTC1.84915808..."

The only thing to do after violating the auction term was to ask me for a SegWit or standard address to pay the BTC1.84915808. And since it was the only time anyone had violated that term, I would be willing to transfer that debt & my account documentation (thanks UpsilonTrooper) in case FinCEN ever does prosecute/seize/repay the stolen BTC.

Just want to get some clarifications. You are auctioning your 50000 XRP with a starting price of $0.99 each? Or $0.99 with the whole XRP?

The reserve amount is what you will pay for the whole 50,000 (and decimal change), not the price for each.

I would have put $0.99 USD/XRP if my reserve amount was also denominated as $x USD/XRP.

I don't really want to lock or move topic>edit>move back before the first bid, so this auction might take a loooong time if people don't read.

271  Economy / Goods / Re: TheButterZone's Mystery Boxes OF HATE - SegWit-ready! on: December 29, 2017, 01:37:50 AM
Could you do a poo in a box and then post that to a random address ? People pay extra for glitter I hear. Exploding glitter bombs with poop make good hate gifts.

That's a specific box of hate, not a Mystery Box OF HATE!

The problem is old sport that there is an undefined level of hate in the hate box. I.e - would the recipient of the "box" be painfully blinded permanently ? Or would they be slightly anxious for days over the voodoo spell with dead wood head kind of hated ?

Pick up a dictionary, look up "illegal", then smack yourself in the head with it.
272  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Mycelium Local Trader for in person cash trades on: December 29, 2017, 12:12:52 AM
As I've already exposed their creds above, screenshots would be academic. Mycelium doesn't display the full BTC address in user info & the offer they made was one where I would have gotten BTC (otherwise it would have showed me their full address to start, or upon my acceptance of their offer, I think).
273  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Mycelium Local Trader for in person cash trades on: December 28, 2017, 11:42:53 PM
IDK if there's a better thread for this, but I got a scam attempt from (no Bitcointalk username match) nicoled on Local Trader. ID 1JcUks...BDvL2w

Tried to get me to send XLM first, claimed I was "new" despite my 876 day account age vs their 24. I referred them to bitrated.com/thebutterzone/linked (and put my trader name in my profile for them, temporarily) but they ignored all my cross-linked ratings, then they tried to run the "increments" con, then after my last refusal they said "Yea and I'm stupid enough to send btc... No thanks" and stopped the trade.

Afterward, I found their offer under Buy Bitcoin in Los Angeles, CA. Screenshots taken if anyone wants me to upload to Imgur.

276  Economy / Speculation / Re: If you knew Bitcoin would never change in value, would you buy it? on: December 26, 2017, 10:29:34 PM
If the fiat/BTC value went up to the all-time-high and THEN never changed again, I would buy/accept BTC after that.

If the fiat/BTC value was fixed permanently right now, any BTC I have now would have to be sold/spent at a loss.

278  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Looking for guarantors against exchange hacks/"hacks"/thefts/seizures on: December 26, 2017, 07:28:34 AM
I can ask someone to jump off the cliff, whether or not they do it, is their choice. You don't want to join a trading exchange, that's your paranoia. Don't expect someone else to cover your ass for that.

It's not a question of can, it's a question of should. Should you be unethical/immoral? Thank you for your admission of guilt.

/yawn @ the inevitable "paranoia" canard, after what, hundreds of thousands of BTC have been lost to compromised exchanges?
279  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Looking for guarantors against exchange hacks/"hacks"/thefts/seizures on: December 26, 2017, 05:53:51 AM
So let me get this straight.
You want all the fun of trading, WITHOUT ever taking a risk? How is that moral or ethical?
What you're suggesting is a type of insurance. It can be done. But what you're actually inferring - where someone else is covering for your ass. Then that, is not okay in my book.

The only risk should be in making bad trades, not giving/taking immoral/unethical advice to commit economic suicide by using exchanges that inevitably suffer a hack/"hack"/theft/seizure.

Come to think of it, people have committed mortal suicide after following advice to commit economic suicide.

So, is it OK in your book, then, to tell people to play Russian Roulette with a full cylinder?
280  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Looking for guarantors against exchange hacks/"hacks"/thefts/seizures on: December 26, 2017, 03:30:41 AM
Can a decentralized exchange solve this ?

In theory. In practice, I don't know of any "decentralized" exchanges that don't charge brutal fees separate & distinct from the Bitcoin TX mining fee.
