261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Between new tokens and old tokens, which would you invest into? on: February 02, 2024, 05:18:08 AM
The bull market is approaching and after that, the altcoin season will start as it has done in other bullish time for the market. Everyone has to be planning for what they'll buying in preparation for the bull run therefore I have a question for everyone. What altcoins will you be buying in preparation for the altcoin season if you only have limited option to choose between investing in old tokens, projects that were launched before or during last bull market or tokens that were launched between last year, this year and the next year. Let assume you only have $1000 and you can put this money in 1-5 projects but they all have to be either old tokens or new tokens that you'll be buying. Which one will you go for, for those that will think they can choose the two type of projects, that won't be possible. I'm trying to see where the attention of investors go when selecting tokens to invest into for the altcoin season.
In fact I have both in my portfolio. But if I have to follow the choice between the old coin and the new coin and if I have to make a choice right now. So I will choose old coins that have been listed for at least 1 year. Because for me, those who have been around for a long time have seen where their lowest point is and where their hype can go. we already have the big picture about it. Meanwhile, with new coins, sometimes we don't know how far they can go up and where they can go down. So the risk is said to be much greater than with old coins.
We often consider a token (old or new) worth investing in if we know which exchanges it was listed. Usually, we choose from a reputable exchange and it is a challenging part that most new projects don't get a chance there but end up listing to unknown and not trusted exchanges. A reason why most investors consider old tokens is not only because of their market price but also because they already established support from the community which likely be our assurance for the project to stay long and profitable.

Whether it is old or new, importantly we know how to determine a legit project. Research is still necessary to have at least a secured investment.
262  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: No one has gone broke taking profits, always take profits. on: February 02, 2024, 04:35:23 AM
Exactly. Taking profits without maximizing them is just as detrimental as actually losing a position in some cases, so taking profits willy-nilly without gauging whether you can still push for more is going to be detrimental to your behavior as a trader and your holding eventually. ..

As a rule, a trader takes a profit when he sees that the price growth has already exhausted itself and the price has approached the resistance level. And the trader is faced with a dilemma, if he does not sell now, then the price of the coin may decrease. And this fear of losing profit makes him fix profits.
But most traders do the wrong way, instead of selling as they already have the profit, they even wait for more until the hype is over. Losing the chances usually happens for greedy traders, and the more they trade, the more they lose.

If all traders just know how to accept small earnings, nobody for sure will end up losing. Sadly, the common instinct is "What if the price increases more"? Contentment is a common problem that is hard to change and a reason for failure. Even though we have deep knowledge and skill about trading but we have a behavioral problem, that's still end to nothing.
263  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Newbie traders, work on yourself. on: February 01, 2024, 08:46:08 PM
New traders need to prepare themselves first because trading theory is very complicated.  If a newbie comes into trading without acquiring proper knowledge, he will face many problems.  So you should prepare yourself at the beginning of trading.  Market analysis, holding, patience, greed control all should be mastered very well before trading.  You have to follow someone who is skilled in trading to learn these things.
Many people don't actually know this or they feel reluctant about the lessons being told to them. Well as they say experience is the best teacher, that's definitely how many newbies will actually learn about trading risk. I once told someone that don't look how easy people portray trading to look like that the act is really really complicated and you could lose lots of money in trying but he never listen so I left him to see the results for himself which turned out to be a perfect lesson for him as he lost about 140$ to the act.
We lose first before we learn, that is trading in real life. Those who dare to take the risk and are still able to lose more will be winning soon as they can already take control of their emotions and are not afraid anymore. What drives us traders especially newbies to get into this job is the aim of making money easily but not knowing how difficult it is as they believe in these influencers saying "You will be rich in trading". It gonna blow your mind but the real battle comes when we are doing this in actuality. Certainly, we lose if we don't have the knowledge because trading doesn't just work through words but actions.
264  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ POLL ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK 17th FEBRUARY 2024 on: February 01, 2024, 01:11:15 PM
So they finally posted the fight trailer and it's even more epic than the Fury/Ngannou and AJ/Wallin ones: https://youtu.be/uw-c-J90_ZE?si=Bx5Hu30z2poHon8o

At least they're starting the promo now. If it had've got to Feb with nothing I would have assumed it wasn't going to happen.

And to think that the fight is what? barely two weeks, so definitely it's going to happen with the released of this promo, probably one of the best that we have seen in recent years. So it bring the hype once more for this fight, and if it doesn't excite us, then nothing will, IMHO.
The link shared by hilariousandco is gone but I saw this one ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RWW1pI8kDo.. This must be the trailer people are talking, just released 17 hours ago. I still find Fury vs Ngannou more unique.  Smiley

For those looking for the current odds,

Fury @1.66, and Usyk @2.14.

I'll take Fury all day. 1.66 is already a go for me, he is still the top heavyweight in his era IMO.
265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 01, 2024, 12:19:04 PM
And the Finals is now set.  Magnolia didn't give Phoenix another chance as they finish the series in 4.

As per schedule, the first game will be tomorrow at 6:15 pm, this is quite early for a finals, so let's arrive home early to be able to watch this.
Betting lines are as follows;

SMB -1.5
Magnolia +1.5

over/under (no line yet).
266  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Know why the exchange wallet are not safe on: January 31, 2024, 08:19:47 PM
In the first place, we know what we are trying to do whether for storing or trading.
Exchange wallets are just intended for trading purposes only, not storage wallets. Sometimes, we can store our funds especially when we are waiting for the right time to trade but it is just a small amount.

Ever since, we have been aware of the safety of our funds with these exchanges and they can't give us assurance which simply means that whatever happens to them, it also happens to our money. If they got hacked, it possibly included our money. We take responsibility for our funds, not by letting others do it as they don't care.
267  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Weak or wise? on: January 31, 2024, 07:41:12 PM
Trading alone is already hard so if you are profiting from your trade despite that you don’t get to finish it, then most likely you’re a wise trader. Not all are given chances to be in profits when trading, some are just trading and even wait till the end and still end up losing. So for me, there’s no need to actually finish a trade if you are already satisfied with your present profits. That’s for you to decide if you can still take the risk and finish an unpredictable trade.
Trading is not an easy thing to do in order to make a profit and if we are already in a favorable condition and we take advantage of it and this really depends on the personality of the person doing the trading whether we can still analyze the market and will be able to get bigger profits. There's no harm in continuing, but if we can't analyze well, I think it's better for us to take the profits we've earned and don't let us become greedy in trading and make wrong decisions that result in losses in the trades we make.
Greediness is one of the major problems in trading, once we never feel contentment, we most possibly we end up losing instead of earning some profit.
Yes, I could recall back my experience and I was supposed to triple my earnings but because I wanted more tried to look for x4, when I just woke up and checked, it was very surprising and disappointed. Now, I realize the bad effect of being too greedy and aggressive, we better take it slow and know how to accept small profits rather than miss all of them. And there is one thing, finish the trade as much as possible before leaving the computer.
268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: January 31, 2024, 11:45:27 AM
Game 5 will start in less than 30 minutes.

The opening point spread is.

Magnolia -7.5 vs Phoenix +7.5,.. Currently it's down to 6.5
The total is 180.5 over/under

My bet is Magnolia -6.5 as I'm hoping that they will end the series tonight and that they'll be able to dominate the Phoenix for the first time. At least no more big come back from big deficit for Magnolia.

Since both are well rested, I'm expecting a highly defensive team, so it should go under 180.5.

Last 3 games outcome.

game 1 79-82
game 2 78-82
game 3 103-85
269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the rush to gain profit in crypto? on: January 30, 2024, 09:58:48 PM
People just need to accept that crypto isn't a shortcut to be rich in just a short period of time.
Earning money was never been easy and crypto is not an exemption you need to know so many things and understand how it works in order to succeed.
You need to learn first in order to earn so it takes time don't rush things.
Perhaps, the idea of getting instant returns and easy money is coming from social media influencers who are promoting their platform to gain attraction which also affects the mentality of greedy people. Many people have fallen into this kind of manipulating trick and failed their expectations, then blamed Bitcoin and even said it was scam stuff.

After all, many people still don't understand what is Bitcoin investment. This kind of investment is not for impatient people, not those in the rush to see results but this is for those who can afford to hold and wait for the outcomes.
270  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why do many people fail in trade? on: January 30, 2024, 09:25:37 PM
Aside from those things that have been mentioned already, many traders expect too much from themselves which is out of reality. Overconfidence brought some negative results. Many traders think that once they know TA, reading charts, etc...they already think that they can do everything and earn huge profits without thinking about how volatile is the market. Even though we have all of the things needed, still no assurance to win. And when they fail their expectations, they just give up. Those who rush for success always end up failing.
271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 30, 2024, 12:38:09 PM

Yes, I do agree though, mandatories are not going to be enforce by this governing bodies, specially with Canelo's star power right now. He can choose who and where he is fighting and those bodies are just going to nod and say yes.

But in any case, it will be a good fight and maybe it could be the biggest for Canelo. Instead of fighting other names, it was reported that Munguia sold out the tickets in Phoenix more than what Benavidez can do in his own city.

Can we now call boxing is corrupt. Because mandatories are suppose to be mandatories, no special treatment or excuses. Canelo is really a cash-cow, very popular in boxing and promoters are making a lot of money when he's fighting. So they like to protect him, at least give him a fight that looks big and competitive but in reality he could control the fight. His mistake was when he moved up in weight think he could beat Bivol but he failed, and I think he won't move up again or challenge Bivol in a rematch as he is enjoying on the current division he is reigning, but he has to choose his opponent wisely.
272  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 30, 2024, 11:24:20 AM
New York Knicks currently have the longest winning streak in the NBA now with 7. Next to them is the Indiana pacers with 3.

Knicks has been so dominant in their last few games, starting from a big win against the Nuggets, they are now winning by double digits in their games. What do you see is the reason why this team is almost unbeatable now? Based on my observation, this started after the trade.

Their game with the Hornets, they won by 21 points and that is considering they are missing few starters like Randle and Anunoby.
What's happening to this team? Can we already consider them as a potential championship team?
273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are memecoins really important for the crypto market? on: January 29, 2024, 09:43:02 PM
Dogecoin is not totally a nonsense meme coin as it also contributed some but the rest is just something we never see as it real use case in the crypto space.
Generally, I couldn't say they are important but yeah, developers have the right and freedom to make these stuff even though people are not needing this.
At the point that meme coins are in the hype, people are happy but now, they are rejected and ignored - they are just considered as the pastime and in the long run, it helps nothing but just another shitcoins.
274  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: January 29, 2024, 01:37:52 PM
Little correction. Majority "dont want Francis to win", but see him as a winner. That is two different things. I have voted that he will knockout AJ, but I dont want him to win. If Francis starts winning, it will mean that anyone from other sports can switch to boxing and win champions or top of the top fighters. That is wrong. Why spend time training and killing yourself in gym entire life , when some guy from the street can come and have same results as you do within few years.

AJ started his career late, at age of 18, in 2007. Got Olympic gold, some other gold national medals, was a professional boxing champion. And on the other part of scales we have Francis, who has spend part of his life working in a sand quarry, spend other part training MMA (this isnt pure boxing, this is only limited arsenal). If Ngannou wins, it will depreciate the value of Olympic gold medal as minimum.
You can't consider a person a champion because he spent his whole life in the training, and then loses to a guy who spent half his life working in a sand quarry. It’s not Ngannou’s fault that he couldn’t afford to live in abundance and train carefree, but he was able to overcome it all and enter big boxing.

It’s not easy to get a champion to agree to fight you, not everyone can send Fury to the floor. And I would like Ngannou to beat Joshua, because if, as you say, a guy who has worked in a sand quarry half his life can beat a gold medal champion, then what kind of champion is he?

Like you have said, it is not easy to become a champion, more hard to become an Olympic champion. But when a guy from other sports comes and beats you, then what kind of champion you are, or are boxing champions really that good?

I bet you can swim. If you beat Michael Phelps suddenly, wont it mean that the effort and time professional athletes spent on becoming a champion is worthless, or their records are fake?  It is not about being able to afford to train like AJ instead of throwing sand and etc. It is about anyone can beat the best. If anyone can do it, wont it mean that that "best" if fake?

I think the discussion have gone too far. We can just simplify this. Not everyone from UFC can become a pro boxer and beat the champion. Ngannou hasn't even proven it yet, and he only became popular because he gave Fury a good fight and was able to knock the champion down. So the hype for him to win is high although bookmakers doesn't believe it will happen as we can obviously see that he is the heavy underdog. However, as the public keeps hyping his name, we might see a slight changes of the odds in the long run, before the fight.

Right now, Ngannou all have is hyped, but the moment he step up in the ring and beat AJ, that's a different story as he beat a champion calibeer boxer, and most likely he could get a rematch against Fury on a championship fight, if Fury will remain as champion after his fight with Usyk.
275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: January 29, 2024, 12:35:25 PM
Maybe game 5 we still have Phoenix +5.5.

They didn't change the opening line, it's still +7.5. I'm sure this will move down in the coming days as sure bettors will be happy to bet on the +7.5 after they beat Magnolia by double digits.  Watch out for the line movement but it's not wise to go against the trend,  the last 3 games belong to the Phoenix, you should bet on the handicap and moneyline.
276  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Patience is power on: January 26, 2024, 02:56:23 PM
Initially before this forum , I was active in trading crypto which sometimes my analysis will enter for me and I will make some money and at a point the phobia of loss enveloped my thought and I stopped trading crypto because of series of losses but when I joined the forum ( bitcointalk) I read a thread that talked about patience and that all the newbies should Hodl coins instead of trading
Trading doesn't necessarily mean that you always buy and sell, sometimes we also need to hold. If you are doing trading in real life, you know when to hold and when to let it go. In my life, not all of my trades went successfully because for some reason and sometimes I sell my coins even if I lose some rather than waiting for long and getting nothing.

There is always a reason for such a thing and this implies how important to learn to hold and become patient because never controls the market movement. This is not just for newbies but all active traders as patience is the key to success.
277  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Short Term Trading Altcoins and Meme Coins? on: January 26, 2024, 01:47:50 PM
Trading altcoins are good but not all the time.
I trade stablecoins and paired with altcoins and sometimes it works fine and profit but sometimes also is a lose trade. It still depends on what altcoins to choose, I prefer to use highly volatile coins which means that there is an active trade and that would mean a lot and can possibly make money too fast.

Chart analysis is quite important here, the more we understand the movement of the market, it is not difficult for us to choose which coin we have to use.
Whether we choose altcoins or meme coins, the most important is to play safe and don't rush...
278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: January 26, 2024, 09:35:51 AM
Francis should have improved a lot since the Fury fight. Months of extra training and they at least now know his limits and what sort of gas-tank he has so they can work on his 'weaknesses' if any. I think Francis has got at least a few years left in him yet at 37 and could even be in his peak shape right now so I wouldn't worry too much about age right now. He could easily get in two or maybe three fights a year up until he's 40. Usyk is also the same age and Zhang is even older at 40 and is having the peak performance of his career right now.
Just remember who is going to be in his corner again, the legend Mike Tyson.
With him by his side Ngannou is going to improve a lot, he is going to learn few more boxing tricks, and I think Joshua has much more to lose in this fight than he does.
I just hope refs wont ruin the fight again with some weird decisions just because he is coming with mma background.

Mike Tyson it is, he is very confident with his fighter and I know they'll do better this time. Just look at this, last time he fought a champion, now against AJ which is a big downgrade, so despite not having the experience in boxing like AJ does, I think he is still very dangerous.

Ngannou learned a lot from his lose to Fury (although fans didn't agree on a loss) so for sure we will see a different Ngannou here, a fighter that will be more aggressive and will know how to conserve his energy well.

And the refs? don't worry about that as this fight will end up in KO. As to the winner, not sure who will win between the two.
279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 26, 2024, 08:54:11 AM
Jesus Christ, the Warriors.
What is left of them these days is hard to watch.
They fought hard to come back and stay in the game and in the final minute they blow it yet again.

Finally having the lead with 40sec to go and Sacramento misses but they get 2 (!!) offensive rebounds and score to take the lead for good.
The final possession with 1 point down and GSW doesn't take the timeout with 15sec to go, run whatever play that was supposed to be and Steph loses the ball and the game.

In the past GSW matches were so much fun to watch but these days it's just sad.  Cry

That's their game, on and off (very unpredictable). That's why I'm done betting on them although I still watch their game. We miss the old Warriors but it will never be coming back as Draymond, Klay, and Curry are getting older and they haven't change theri style while other teams have figured out already how to counter their small ball game.

However, you can't also underestimate the Kings, they have been a good rival and if I'm not mistaken, their score this season is even. It looks like we are on a playoff atmosphere, but it is what it is, they make mistakes, they pay for it, so better luck next time.
280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trend or long term projects? on: January 25, 2024, 09:14:07 PM
There are many investors who move more on new trends but this is their goal oriented thinking so here their selection process can be best. If you are already making a good profit from a coin then you must sell it even if it is 50% so that your original capital is fully guaranteed. This is purely my preferred rule as I don't want to fiddle with a token for a whole month so I only want to keep a token for a few days.
If you can have good timing in trend projects, you will surely be earning a lot of money just like meme coins but missing the timing will also incur big losses and not be able to recover anymore. It is quite too risky, yet it was profitable.

But if we choose to have a safe investment (at least), we better choose long-term projects like BTC and ETH. Though they are not good at earning every day, still be giving us a profit when the bullish comes. But this choice is quite challenging for most as it needs patience which is why some sell their coin earlier.
