I find it so fascinating to see what people think "agents" do.

Bitcoin is more of a private network than an anonymous one. It can be used in ways that make it basically anonymous, but it will take some effort. You may want to look into "coin mixers", and using addresses only one time. Every single transaction that has ever been done with bitcoin is reviewable by anyone. The sending and receiving addresses are recorded, however no identity is associated with those transactions.

This link is to a website that let's you explore the blockchain. You can see all the activity on the network. If you wanted to know who is sending/receiving all that money you must associate the addresses with identities. This may be done by figuring out a mathematical relationship between addresses that proves several addresses come from the same wallet. Once you have that you can start to look for references that link any of the addresses to anyone. By extension the other Tx's from that wallet surely have the same owner.

Appreciations for your reponse Smiley

I have read into mixers, could you let me know if I'm on the right tracks...

1) Open new wallet with a wallet provider
Close. to hide your identity you will want to run a full wallet like core or electrum. Wallets that are hosted share control and identity.
2) Pay Fiat Cash to bitcoin merchant
Obtaining BTC anomoyously may be a challenge. While bitcoin protects your identity, exchanges must know your identity to accept fiat. It is a law almost everywhere. Your best bet wuld be a face-toface Tx using https://localbitcoins.com/
3) Give him my public address, he sends me funds
That's right. All you need to send BTC is the receivers address. They should do it right in front of you with a smartphone or laptop. You can confirm that it is sent via blockexplorer. Just check the address with any internet device/phone/PC. Never use that receiving address again.
4) I send to bitcoin mixer
**(would it be better to use the mixer to send to the person/market I wish to receive my coins or back to my wallet)**
Basically a mixer throws your coins in a wallet with many others. What you get back are coins that have been moved around a bunch and are no longer linked to their past. I would do this after securing the bitcoins.
5) Spend bitcoins
Yes. That is the easy part.
6) Repeat (including step 1?)
If you liked it? I think you will.
Is that a example of how to use bitcoins anonymously (or as anonymous as possible)... Is there anything missing I should include? Does there seem to be anything I'm not understanding?

2764  Economy / Lending / Re: i need about .0059 on: June 29, 2015, 05:30:57 PM
To get a loan you will need:

1. Secured collateral valued higher than the principal.
2. A third party to handle escrow.
3. Additional money to pay interest.

There may be more requirements but no one is going to just give you money. And a loan is the most expensive way to acquire BTC, you could do way better just setting up an account at an exchange. Please add your collateral and clarify if you or the counter-party is paying escrow.

Thank you for your kind words and condolences. But really, the money I'm making is reward enough.

2769  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your opinion of gun control? on: June 26, 2015, 08:24:09 PM
The most effective way to achieve many of these goals is to teach gun safety to everyone, including age-appropriate training for children. That way when a gun owner fails to do the right thing, those around him are less likely to hurt themselves, and more likely to recognize the unsafe behavior and correct it.

I think we don't need to involve children in weapon issue. It's not enough to just teach gun safety to people, the main point is why people need the gun in their home, and also you must need a license to using a gun.

In my experience ignorance is more dangerous than knowledge. I think it makes sense to teach kids what to do if they find a gun. Just like they should learn to swim before falling into a lake. In the U.S. there are many free/cheap programs to teach youth gun safety. The apple seed project for example, or the hunter safety programs sponsored by most states.

Even though she is a fairly good shot, my wife has little interest in guns. But I insist on her visiting the range once and a while to keep up her basic safe handling skills. If there is going to be a loaded gun in the house then every family member should be able to:

1. Children or those who know nothing about guns should know to get an adult if they find a gun and know to stay near and keep any other children from touching it. Your guns should never be unattended or kept loaded with young children around.
2. Older children who have shot a gun may be trained to cover the gun with a bucket or something and guard it from other kids. But again, your guns should be locked up at all times when children are present.
3. Adults who are familiar with basic gun safety should be able to disarm a firearm and block the breach. If they can do this then you could keep a loaded gun with that adult present. But it should not be a surprise.

P.S. - I think it is true that in every state one can keep a loaded long gun in their home or shoot at a range with no licenses of any kind. It is only carrying the gun hidden on yourself that requires a CC license.

I think there's a great danger in defining what symbols mean to other groups of people. ...
That is a well reasoned argument that makes a lot of sense.

WTF are you doing at these forums? lol.  Cheesy
2771  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your opinion of gun control? on: June 25, 2015, 05:18:23 PM
Another thing that gun owners I know try to do is not use their guns. Here are the guys currently working my neighborhood. They have not (so-far) been armed or hurt anyone. I would hate to shoot one of them as I think they are not really that hard as criminals. In fact before this story came out over the weekend I believe I had a beer at the park with these two. We talked in Spanish and some English about the weather and our families. I knew they were criminals. They were covered in gang/prison tats, but they were cool with me and I thought perhaps they had cleaned up their lives a bit.
It was disappointing to realize they were robbing my neighbors. I was also concerned for their lives as most of my neighbors have a gun locked and loaded for defense. So our neighborhood got together and made wanted posters to plaster everywhere. I think that will encourage them to move on. But I'm still worried. A friend and I are going to the park where they hang out and tonight and try to talk some sense into them. I'm willing to help them get away from crime and connect them with resources if they want it. If they keep walking into houses like they are doing it is just a matter of time.  I hope they make the right choice.

2772  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anyone Lending Their Bitcoin To Shorters Is An Idiot on: June 25, 2015, 03:13:13 PM
This is capitalism. We don't cooperate, we compete. While you may be right that most any lending is a dumb idea. Trying to get competing, self-interested participants to work together is not going to work. It's like a few years ago when the rage was trying to get people to hold their coins to drive up the price. There will always be people who will take advantage of any success and sell for a higher profit.

Have you decided to impersonate BADecker because he hasn't graced this thread with his presence yet? You even ended the post with a smiley! All that's missing is a some christian fundamentalism or a diatribe against the courts because "something something common law" and you'd have me convinced!

lol, I think we are coming from different places. I'm an atheist. But I am cool with most people and that includes religious people.  If you want to be part of the world and spread peace then I don't care how you got here, I'll stand with you. Just as I stand with the families of the victims in Charleston. They are my brothers now and I will do more to end raceism in my community.
Sorry Dylann (Ruf?, roof?), your actions are inspiring people to show their best side and support each other. I think taking the confed flag from all government flags, license plates, etc. is a start.  Something that, in fact, you started Dylann!

There is terrific irony in his actions of hatred inspiring people to come together. All this focus on the confederate flag though, it almost seems to me to be scapegoating and definitely knee-jerk. I do wonder if all the focus on the flag is robbing us of an opportunity to deal more directly with the problems.
Yeah' I think your right. It is just a symbol and does not directly address the problem. But at least is a disincentive for those who think this kind of killing furthers their cause. Plus it's a little weird that the flag of revolt against the United  States appears on state flags and licenses plates. I have heard the arguments about Southern pride and history, but I'm sure the neo-Nazies would say the same thing about the swastika.
2774  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your opinion of gun control? on: June 25, 2015, 02:10:50 PM
IMO, people should be given the choice whether whey want to own a fire-arm or not. In places like Texas, where home invasions are very common, the possession of a fire-arm can save many lives. However, the government should make it impossible for people with a criminal record, and those with mental issues from obtaining fire-arms.

However, the government doesn't give people with mental issues firearms to begin with.
They get the gun, and then they become insane.

Also, people home invade not to kill people. They just want their shit.
In that case, not possessing a firearm will actually save a life... even if they're criminal.

So guns cause mental illness? And home invaders are just good guys who need a little extra cash.  Huh
You do not know any criminals, do you?
Jesus, no wonder so many people die curled up in a ball, hiding under a desk in utter disbelief at the evil people do.
2775  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anti-intellectualism Is Killing America on: June 24, 2015, 05:52:54 PM
I for one welcome ignorance. Since we compete for jobs and money in our capitalist system, the more stupid people there are in the economy the better off I am. So please do prattle on about your conspiracy theories during any job interviews.
2776  Economy / Economics / Re: Cameroon Government Is Trying To Rip Off Citizens Via Centralized Altcoin? on: June 24, 2015, 05:49:38 PM
The government of Cameroon has implemented a centralized, insecure and potentially dangerous blockchain protocol
and currency Trest in their project to enable the unbanked to transfer money quickly without transaction fees.

Unlike Bitcoin, transactions on the Trest blockchain are not verified by miners or any entity incentivized by the network.
Doesn't it look like the government is trying to rob its own citizens of their money?

Just as predicted by some, governments will not necessary ban Bitcoin, but will not embrace it and instead will create their own cryptos without everything that makes Bitcoin good (decentralized, open source, not tied to any institution..)
It's happening guys, get ready for the era of the e-fiat scam.

Spot on!  Wink
Congratulations, a government has re-invented the frequent flier mile.

2778  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: transaction with zero fee on: June 24, 2015, 05:11:39 PM
As a side note: This will become more of an issue as the block reward goes down and miners become more dependent on fees. I would not get into the habit of sending zero fee Tx's.

I call for a love war!  Cheesy

There is not going to be a race war. Only old people and hillbillies are so deluded to think that. In fact the nation becomes browner each day and in twenty years no one will be black or white anyway. It will be beautiful.

I am not sure what drugs do you take, but Id love prescription. Those must be strong as hell.
It's called love. And It's the bomb! I'm high on it most of the time and because it's legal the cops wont hassle you. Best of all it's free! You can score some by giving love. My parents turned me on to it as a kid and now I'm hopelessly addicted.
I know a lot of people these days do hate instead. But hate comes with so many health problems and turns you into tiny, feeble, paranoid complainer. Someone constantly in search of a scapegoat to blame their failings on. Not a drug I would do. I wake up early and happy and sleep with a smile on my face.
