2761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: advantages in the cryptocurrency industry on: November 01, 2021, 10:21:19 AM
I agree with your first and second point, both trading and investment are profitable ways to earn money in the crypto world. If we make our own research and identify optimistic projects we can make a lot of profits. But your third point with gambling is not so straightforward. There might be people who are lucky and manage to earn a lot of money through gambling, but the games are not in our favor. The casino has a house edge which makes gambling very profitable for the casino in the long run. As the average gambler we shouldn't look at casinos as a reliable way to make money. A fourth point o would add is offering services or selling things in the crypto world. If we can get paid in cryptos rather than fiat money we have another way to take advantage of the rising crypto prices.
2762  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Don't lose your profit unnecessarily on: November 01, 2021, 10:07:21 AM

What way do you take your profit ?

Or you feel the regained profit is same profit that you lost  Huh Roll Eyes

I agree with you that taking profits is important if we want to grow our portfolio. HODL is a viable strategy for crypto currencies, but if the outlook of a coin is not optimistic anymore than shifting our money into projects is important. For me there are a few things I try to consider before taking profit. The first one is if I need money in the near future. For any bigger expenditures I look at using fiat money or if necessary crypto money. When needing money I try to take profit in the coins where I made the most profit. But before I sell any crypto coins I also look at how profitable the coin might be in the future. Because if I take profit today, I try to avoid buying the coin back in a few weeks. Saving some transaction fees can sum up over time.

The CSGO major in Stockholm finally started and there are so many matches to bet on. So far I bet on Astralis and Big. Probably many of us here who watch CSGO have bought the Major pass to earn some souvenir packages. The Pick em challenges are a nice addition to watching the games but we can't really win money there. I am just curious guys are you keeping your packages or selling them? I remember in the past the souvenir packages became very valuable over time.
2764  Economy / Economics / Re: What happened? on: October 31, 2021, 07:56:16 AM

Did anything happen, that would cause such a synchronized dip and recovery?
Thanks in advance.  Smiley

Welcome to the forum, always great to see new users. Following bitcoins and other crypto currencies will show you more sich synchronised price changes in the future. Bitcoin is still the largest crypto market and has a large influence on other price. That is why we see such strong correlations between cryptos. So every time bitcoins are falling it is very likely that the alt coin market is going to follow. But the larger the other crypto projects become the more independent they should also become. In my opinion the correlation between crypto coins should be weaker in the future and get more into the direction of stocks. Where there is still general market risk that affects all stocks at once but also individual risk.
2765  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Twitter can make impact in the BTC world? on: October 31, 2021, 07:46:55 AM
I think Twitter together with reddit already have the biggest impacts social media can have on crypto currencies. Twitter is the best Plattform to spread short news and hashtags around the world, there are millions of active users in every corner of the earth. Facebook or Instagram doesn't have reach of Twitter. If you make it on to the trending section of a country everybody will see. For the fastest news coverage I would rely on twitter and for a more fundamental approach I would go for reddit.
We have seen the power of Twitter in the crypto world on the past. Elon Musk and his famous tweets about bitcoins or doge coin are the best example of how twitter can impact crypto prices. When Elon Musk tweeted that Tesla would accept bitcoins for their cars the bitcoin price jumped.

2767  Economy / Economics / Re: What is better - cryptocurrency trading or investing? on: October 28, 2021, 10:46:56 AM
It all comes down to what suits you more and where are you more profitable with. There are good investors and good traders who both make a lot of money. We can't just say that one is better than the other. The two are very different from each other, so a good investor you would not necessarily be a good trader as well. As an investor you focus more on long term trends and the big picture, whereas the trader takes advantage of short term opportunities and profits of price anomalies. As a trader you need to have a good stomach and be able to sleep well with taking higher risks. I tried both myself and find that investing suits better my risk appetite. The younger you are the easier it is to get used to the fast path environment of trading. Why not try both yourself and see what is better for you?
2768  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Anonym Gold kaufen mit Bitcoins on: October 28, 2021, 10:11:06 AM
hallo,

Was ist denn schlimm daran seinen Perso vorzulegen?

https://www.pfh.de/umfragen/index.php/586974?lang=de

2770  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading with leverage on: October 27, 2021, 11:43:26 AM

How many of you here are using leverage to trade crypto, and how much, and through which broker? Let’s bring to light the many unknown aspects of crypto trading, besides what is known - that you screw things up when you don’t understand technical analysis and blindly enter and exit trades.

I am not using any leverage when it comes to trading. In the past I traded some futures with friends but only short term. The higher risk for trading on margin was not for me. You said that higher exposure we get through leverage is a positive thing for trading, that is only true when the market moves in our direction. When we are losing the leverage will make our losses even worse because we still have to repay the loan in the future. That is why I would never recommend new traders to work with leverage. Even when using tight stop losses there is always risks involved to lose more money. Even experts in trading who know technical analysis very well can get hurt with leverage. Trading is not a guaranteed success, no matter your experience level. Unforseen risks like a market crash can be devastating when using leverage. In my opinion there are two ways to trading, either you try to maximise your returns, at which point leverage can be helpful, or you try and minimise your risk for a certain amount of return. These days I am trying to focus more on minimising risks.
2771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin - a joke or a way to make money? on: October 27, 2021, 11:24:56 AM
Everybody knows that Dogecoin was created as a joke, but now it is worth real money. Do you think it is real to earn on it or it's all a big bubble?

Dogecoin is a popular alt coin these days with many investors here on the forum either owned some in the past or still hold some today. The project may started out not so serious, but today it's definitely not a joke project anymore. There are plenty of shit coins out there which are still attractive for investors, so why should Dogecoin be so? Personally I still own some doge from the past and didn't sell any this year. Maybe it was the wrong call to not sell in the last rally, but there can always be another bull run around the corner. The reasons why I didn't sell my coins are that there are famous investors like Elon Musk who likes the coin, another few positive comments from him could increase the price again. And Dogecoin is a very famous coin now, a lot of media was following doge during the last rally. With so much attention from the media we could see a new ATH next year.
2772  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A good book to learn how to trade. on: October 26, 2021, 12:26:19 PM
I would like to ask for the link if possible. I like reading books especially about cryptocurrency which helps me gain more knowledge. I'll try to find it since I wanted to trade but I'm lacking of knowledge about trading, this might help me.

Trading is risky if you don't know how to, so better to give it a try.

I haven't read the book myself yet but I know the Wiley Trading Series, they have a lot of good books published, usually very thick and expensive books. Out of there series I read parts of "High-Frequency Trading: A Practical Guide to Algorithmic Strategies and Trading Systems" - also a great trading book I would recommend anybody who is interested in HFT. Providing links to download the book might not be legal, better be careful when trying to get the book on the internet for free. In my country "Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns" is still being sold for 100 Euros, this might be a lot of money but if we can make a profit from it, it's worth it. If you really want the book but can't afford to pay so much money then I would recommend to just buy a used copy. On Ebay there are always people selling their older trading books much cheaper. The Wiley books are usually written by industry experts that can teach us a more practical approach.
2773  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker Tips- what kind of strategies do you use when playing? on: October 26, 2021, 08:34:25 AM

As I wrote about it, if you don't know how to bluff here and there you will not be able to win anything in the long run! Simple statistic, I had moments in games where I couldn't win with a normal hand, I can't get anything... the hands I won are just from scaring others with rises and reraises, it's always risky but it was like the only way for me to get some chips and stay in the game!
We play our cards as we think it's the best at that moment, for sure "sometimes our play will pass, sometimes it won't!" that's poker... the better you are in choosing your hands to fight for and win and the ones you should avoid will make you a better player!

I fully agree with you, bluffing is a very important part about poker. If we don't bluff then we are losing too many hands and will not be profitable in the long run. Only playing the nuts is not enough to win back the blinds and turn a profit in the long run. With 10 players at a table we are only winning on average 10% of the hands by playing the nuts, if we start bluffing we can increase that number. Also if our opponents start to pick up the fact that we only play the nuts we become exploitable. In a heads up match the chances are that both you and your opponent didn't connect on the flop, with both players behind it comes down to who wants to bluff and buy the pot. This doesn't mean of course that we should be bluffing all time, if we play too loose than the others will notice it too. It is important to switch between playing nuts and bluffing all the time to be less predictable.

Go for a walk, drink wine or beer, have sex.

Not sure if this is the best advice when it comes to Poker because it will likely make us more tired and less concentrated. When I am playing poker I try to not drink alcohol. In the past I played some session after drinking and usually just lost money. Drinking and gambling is usually not a good mix, at least for me. Coffee or energy drinks are much better.
2774  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Das Loser/Winner Gewinnspiel: Diario El Salvador - BITCOIN DAY Ausgabe on: October 26, 2021, 07:56:35 AM

Bin beim nächsten Gewinnspiel dann wieder dabei.

2775  Economy / Economics / Re: When you sell is no longer "yours" on: October 26, 2021, 07:06:12 AM

When you sell, is no longer yours. When you sell your bitcoin for more than you paid, you may be happy about it, but unless you have an investment to make or would like to buy something else, all you have left is... fiat. And fiat finds its way out of pockets very quickly.

You are right, after we sold something we have no legal rights anymore to decide what is going to happen with it in the future. Especially for older people it becomes very hard to part with things they were in possesion of for a very long time. I have a similar experience in my home town with the childhood house of my dad. He only lived in there until he was 14 and it was sold like 20 years ago, and still every time we pass the house he is looking at everything, making comments how dirty it looks and how they don't take care of the garden.
When it comes to selling bitcoins or other crypto currencies I always keep comparing the current price to my sell price. I know it's wrong and it does nothing than making me feel bad. Unfortunately the brain can't just turn it self off and stop thinking about something. This is why I have a bitcoin price of 10,000 USD in my head when I sold a lot of CSGO skins into bitcoins, instead of holding the BTC I converted everything to fiat. Letting go of some past trades is difficult.
2776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China is thinking about unbanning bitcoin mining after price rise on: October 26, 2021, 06:47:55 AM
What do bitcointalk’s community and users think and speculate about this latest news development? Would anyone consider that the Chinese government might be recognizing that they have made a mistake and might be ready to unban mining for bitcoin and other cryptocoins?

I really hope so. Crypto currencies became such a big part of our everyday lifes. Why should a country with more than 10% of the World population be completely against it? I understand that China has a different mindset than western countries and is very protective of its economy an currency. But free world trade only works if countries open up their markets. The exact same goes for crypto currencies. The world will move on without you. I believe that China realises they can't stop cryptos and need to find a different approach now. Like the saying goes of you can't fight them, join them. Instead of outright banning cryptos it would be so much better to work on tight regulations and profit of the boom. Because no ban will mean a 100% stop of the activities, there will always be a black market as long as there is demand.
2777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin is good. It’s hard to persuade parents to invest in it. on: October 25, 2021, 09:56:45 AM

It’s hard to persuade those middle-aged people to invest in crypto. Do you think so?

My parents are not middle aged anymore, they are already retired but still they have heard about bitcoins and crypto currencies. My family knows that I am involved with cryptos for years now and they keep asking me about it regularly. There is definitely some interest about the new asset class but investing they don't want. My family holds most of their money in cash at the bank which is the worst kind of investment right now. They don't get any interest and have to pay fees and lose money due to inflation. I don't know how to convince them to invest into cryptos. Going straight for alt coins might be a bit risky, but atleast buying some bitcoins would be a good thing for the. Everytime I see my uncle he keeps asking me about bitcoins, he is very interested, but everytime I ask him if he wants to invest a little, he just says in the future. Hard to know why he is still afraid because prices went up so much offer the last years. It would be nice if we can get more older people involved with cryptos.
2778  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Weekend Trading, how do you feel about it? on: October 25, 2021, 09:39:35 AM

What do you think about Saturday and Sunday trading Huh

Considering it with week days which do you see as profitable or they are just the same thing to you.

To be honest with you I never trade on the weekends. On Sunday and Saturday I try to spend as much time with friends and family as possible and check my coins very rarely. It would be interesting to know how many of us here on the forum trade actively on the weekends. Maybe you can add a poll to your thread?
In general I would expect less traders to be around on the weekend, which would mean that markets are not as liquid as during the week. This lower liquidity and higher spread between bid and ask prices could be picked off by good traders. But trading everyday of a week without getting some time off can burn us out. Having atleast one day to relax helps me a lot to recharge batteries for the next week.
2779  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Going for the Underdog or Not? on: October 25, 2021, 09:01:58 AM
Interesting question, I am not a betting expert, but doesn't it just comes down to personal preferences? Because if we don't know anything about fighter A or B then the odds from the bookies are the only information we can rely on. So the champ is going to win with higher chances and the underdog is going to give us a higher profit. In your example when I only had 10 USD left I would definitely go for the champion, because its higher chances of winning and if I lose I would be broke. In trading the worst thing that can happen is going broke. We don't have any chances than of recovering if our bankroll is 0. We need more information if we want to make a better decision. The more information we can gather the better our prediction of the outcome. I try to only bet on big events when I feel that I have an advantage. For example when a popular team plays at home against a small team than I believe there is more demand from the famous team and odds might be a bit off.
2780  Economy / Economics / Re: The Economic Gap has Exceeded the Tolerance Limit on: October 25, 2021, 08:36:44 AM
I understand your frustration and fully agree with you, its not fair. There is no real argument why any one person needs more than 1 bn USD. How can you spend such kind of money in a lifetime? I wish we as ordinary humans could do something, unfortunately it's not realistic at the moment. In my opinion society is not ready to make policies on a global level. When it comes to Super rich we can't just change the laws in one country. Let's say in USA, China or Europe we would create a wealth tax of 25% above 10 million net worth, then the rich would just find ways to circumvent the law. First of all rich people like to put their money in trust and not in their personal names. So it becomes hard to proof that one person owns all that money. And we still have plenty of tax havens in the world. As long as small countries compete against each other to attract the most rich people in the world it is not going up work. Also the most trastic way is for the super rich to get out of some form of wealth redistribution would be to return their passport and become a citizen of a different country.
