1901  Economy / Gambling / Re: Poker tournaments why tournaments in other games on: August 23, 2022, 02:53:18 PM
A lot of poker game tournaments have been announced on this board over time, and am I kind of wondering what makes poker games so inclined to the tournament and we don't see such competitions being announced for other games?

Poker is one of the few casinos games where you don't play against the house, you only play against other gamblers and everybody has the same winning chances. It makes it the perfect setup for a tournament because you can play with 2-10 people per table and can include a large number of players. The main thing about tournaments is the prize money and the more participants means the higher the price money. Another good thing about poker is the blind structure that keeps increasing, this means that games won't last forever and there is pressure on the players to keep defending their blinds. Maybe casinos could think of other tournament structure for the future, like who roles the highest numbers. But these games will always be directly against the casino and not so interactive.

1902  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this true or not? on: August 23, 2022, 02:04:41 PM

Bitcoin was less than $1 before, it got to $10, $100, $1000, $10000 and reach all-time-time of $69000 last year, now at $21300. Is that not an hedge against inflation? Bitcoin is highly volatile, but those that hold it for long see it as a hedge against inflation.

I also don't agree with the article, in my opinion bitcoin will be a good hedge against inflation in the long run. If you bought BTC last year near the ATH than it's not a good hedge. The high volatility we are seeing at the moment can discourage some investor now to invest. But the cheaper you manage to buy bitcoins the better it will be as an hedge in the long run. Another thing with the bitcoins price is that it's always quoted in USD and the Dollar had a very strong year, rising 10-20% against many other currencies. Taking that into consideration for all of the non USD investor it's another boost to the inflation hedge.  The number of real bitcoin wallets is hard to calculate because so many wallets change their address for every new transaction. Even the mobile wallet that I only use for small transaction below 100 USD changes the bitcoin address regularly, and then most of the investors have not only 1 or 2 wallets but probably 3-5.
1903  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling on Psychology & Sociology Perspectives. on: August 22, 2022, 01:34:45 PM
I don't get the "trying your luck via gambling" thing. You could try your luck without betting money on it. Grin
Unfortunately most of the people gamble because of that hidden subconscious thought that they will make a "big hit" and they will win big money without any efforts. This is basically your "monkey mind" playing tricks on you. I remember that the subconscious mind was called "monkey mind" by buddhism and keeping your monkey mind under control is the most important part of growing as a person.
I'm no expert in Chinese culture and we have to ask some Chinese guy about the theory of gambling being a big part of Chinese culture.
My culture definitely doesn't require me to gamble. Gambling is still viewed as a bad thing where I live, despite many people visiting the offline casinos and playing lottery.

Same in my country, gambling has a negative stigma to it and people never really talk about it in the open. And yet in every bigger city there are physical casinos, sports betting places and at every cigarette shop you can buy scratch cards. From my friends I know that they all also like to gamble from time to time, even it's just playing lottery. The motivation behind this kind of occasional gambling is winning the jackpot, it's not about making 5 bucks and feel like you have luck. It's rather losing a small amount of money to have a chance of winning big and also the opportunity to dream about making such kind of money. It's fun to talk among friends what to do with the 50m jackpot. But it's not really testing how lucky you are. This is very different to people who gamble regularly every week in casinos and invest a lot of money with it. For them it's still about making money but it can't be the only motivation. Investing so much money and time it became a form of entertainment and a way to relax after a stressful day,  similar to drinking some beers in a bar after work.
1904  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Casino Trends For 2022 on: August 22, 2022, 01:12:12 PM
They have seen that players are liking these slots so for their own profit motive also they have added the same slots but some casinos have different one's also to attract new players. But speaking of dice it's almost everywhere and there is huge bets placed over dice rolls while some casinos have only dice rolls in the past. The only change they can implement is game rules and UI but almost the same one over all casino.

It's true that most online casinos look very similar in terms of games offered. Slot machines and dice are definitely the most common games and will bring in the biggest revenues for casinos. Card games are not so popular anymore as they were 10 years ago during the poker hype. I think the number of poker players and the casinos that offer big games have been declining. For the player it's a lot of work to stay ahead of others given how far poker theory developed, most of the basic strategy will not bring a positive return anymore. For online casinos poker was never a favourite game because they don't take active part in it. There is no house that has the highest winning chance, they only earn a fixed rate as commission based on the number of played hands. Less players and less play time means less money for the casino. The important trend this year for a casino is not the games itself anymore, but being a reliable platform that has good costumer support and offers a wide range of crypto currencies to accept deposits and withdraws.
1905  Economy / Economics / Re: Tips to save my finances, to grow personal economy on: August 22, 2022, 07:05:52 AM
Saving money became a big objective for many young people over the last few years because living expenses have been growing exponentially compared to wages. In today's time it's almost impossible for a family with 2 kids to live of the salary of only one parent working. One thing is that the a lot of new constructed apartment houses become much smaller to make them affordable. A good alternative is to live in shared apartments when you are younger, or even making money of it. A good friend of mine did this in university for 3 years, he was the one who managed a house with 3 floors of student rooms for an old lady and could live like that for free. I think in total there were 9 rooms and he had to advertise all of them as soon as a student left. And he also took care of small maintenance repairs and the garden around the house for which he got paid separately. In the end he got paid for living for free, but had to spend quite a lot of time managing the whole house. In depends on how much time you are willing to put in and if you can find a landlord that is willing to do it. I don't think it's such a good idea to do this without the consent of the landlord, because when you rent out a whole house alone he might not agree with the large number of occupants there will be. It can also be that many of tenants leave at the same time and you will be stuck paying the full rent for a month or two will not making any profit.
1906  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Average crypto futures trader monthly salary is 9000$-30,000$ on: August 22, 2022, 06:53:53 AM
Yed is true average monthly salary is 9000-30k.
Becouse average profit is 2000-3000% a month

Future trading most best thing with fair pay as 9k is small a money a month the 30k sounds fair salary.
Why would you even work any other jobs ?
Dont waste ur life and time learn futures trading;)

30k USD a month? No way you are pulling such kind of profits consistently over a long period of time. If you do please share some actual proof and good for you. I am not jealous if this is reality, just a little cautious when it comes to claims about making money online. Futures is trading is a very risky business, you are trading with leverage and you profits can be really huge, but so can your losses. The first time I traded futures with a friend in university, we lost several thousand USD in less than a week, it took years to recover from that. It also depends on how much money you actually have to invest it. For margin payments you need at least 20k USD in capital to start with. Making 9k+ USD from 20k in a month seems to high in my opinion, or maybe you run a very risky strategy and became lucky.
1907  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is It For The Money Or For The Sport Or A Clear Exploitations on: August 22, 2022, 06:43:41 AM

Should we allow or support internet sensations to fight in the ring I'm ok with the Paul brothers but these two other so-called internet sensations are making a mockery of boxing.

Boxing is the same as any other sport, it's a form of entertainment that is meant to attract viewers. Without any viewers there would be no sponsors and no money in the game. Professional athletes couldn't afford to only be involved in the sport and need a real job. Money plays a big role in any sport and makes it also more desirable for young kids to follow a career in sports. The biggest events are usually the world champion ship games or big title fights, that attract the most viewers and will also generate the most money. And in today's time things seem to be changing, if big internet stars can attract an millions of viewers for amateur fights. Without the internet this would have never been possible. To me it seems this is all about the money and people use the excuse of feuds between each other to settle it in the ring. Trash talking has always been part of boxing and helps to make it a bigger event. There will always be more viewers if two big rivals fight each other than if two friends fight each other.
1908  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The bitcoin price drop is an excellent time to buy bitcoins on: August 22, 2022, 06:22:16 AM
We saw another bitcoin price drop last week, with a big drop on Friday BTC is down 8.5% over the last 5 days. Right now BTC is back at 21,300 USD. In my opinion these are good levels to buy again and I hope the price will stay like this during the week, because I can only buy new coins in the beginning of next week after getting my salary. So far this year was a good year for anybody who wanted to top off his bitcoin holdings. I have been buying for the last 6 months following the DCA strategy, to me it's the best way if you take some money each month from your salary and keep buying new coins. For this year my average purchase price for bitcoins is around 25,000 USD. I am sure next year at this time we will be much higher in prices again.
1909  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Influence of "Paid" Streamers on Online gambling..... on: August 20, 2022, 02:53:30 PM

On the flip side of the coin..... Some people believe that "Paid" streamers are actually "feeding" or "funding" other people's large wins. They can only "sweep" other peoples funds, when they win.... if someone else win before them... the opposite happens... right?

That is true, but isn't it the money from the casino in the end? The casino pays the streamer to spread their games and offer online marketing to them, so all the money the streamer wins or losses is always from the casino. Instead of feeding the jackpot through paid players, the casino could have started the jackpot higher. I am not against streamers at all, it's part now of the new Internet culture. There are people who like to show the whole world what they are doing, and then there are people who prefer watching others than risking large sums themselves. But when it comes to gambling streamers I think that most people are very critical. TV is always flashy and enjoys to exaggerate reality, it feels the same happens in the streaming world. It's hard to believe everything we see online is legit and I don't think I the same luck happens to me. But atleast gambling streamer are entertaining.
1910  Economy / Economics / Re: Effect Of Delayed Gratification On Investment Outcome. on: August 20, 2022, 02:07:28 PM
Does it therefore mean that the outcome of an investment can be determined in advance when we delay enjoyment/gratification?

I don't think delaying the gratification of our investments is the best method to determine the success of our investment. Your are right that keeping our money invested longer usually means we get a higher return. Both consumption or saving in a bank account gives no return at the moment. Together with the inflation the only alternative we have is to invest, but there can be bad investment. In case we pick a mediocre or bad investment it will not lead to good returns, even if we delay our gratification. That's why we need to keep monitoring our portfolio and reevaluate oir positions. Sometimes it's better to cut losses and move on, instead of waiting for something to turn around. Long term investing is still the most important tool to build wealth.
1911  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: List of psychological tricks that casinos use. on: August 20, 2022, 01:43:36 PM
I have identified some as they are similar to those the articles highlighted as it seemed to be mostly focused on offline casinos, they are;
1. Good and user friendly design.
2. Cashless games is definitely among.
3. Stimulating sounds seem to be one. (Please add to the list)

On more thing the casinos like to do is install air filters that keep the air clean and adds fresh oxygen to it. This helps to make the gamblers feel more awake and fresh. Together with the no window rule the time will pass more quickly. I remember my first few nights in Las Vegas leaving the casinos and realising that's it already 6am and the sun is up again. The whole concept of physical casinos is entertainment, free alcohol while gambling is a big part of it. For online casinos all these things are not an option, for them the casino games itself are the focus. I wasn't aware that casinos play thei music, my browser might have the sounds turned off and I mostly listen to my own music or have the TV running in the background. I think having a large variety of different casino games is the best for online casinos to stand out from others and keep the gambler engage the longest.
1912  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I am losing money because take profit orders are not working. on: August 20, 2022, 01:16:20 PM
Hello I was scalping and I had a take profit order in my exchange to sell bitcoin when it reached 24448. And today at 14.13 tradingview was telling me that bitcoin was 24450..but the take profit operation was not performed in my platform..what could be the reason?

There can be multiple reasons why your profit order wasn't filled. The first question would be to check how long the bitcoin price stayed above 24.448. If it was only a short period of time than there might not have been enough buy orders to fill your sell order. It can also help to check the traded volume at that time period to see how many people actually managed to sell their positions. This week has been a bad weak for crypto markets, there were a lot of more sellers than buyers in market and the bitcoin price dropped a lot. It can be that there weren't enough buyers to take off all the bitcoins before prices falling. Also trade size might play a role, if only small or large orders have been prioritised. I would still recommend you contact the exchange directly and inquire about your trades, just to be sure that everything is legit.
1913  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How often do you use Bitcoin? on: August 20, 2022, 11:19:03 AM
Looks like I am part of the majority that uses bitcoins less than once per month. The crypto bear market this year is the main reason for me to not use any bitcoins anymore. With prices below 40,000 USD it feels to me that bitcoins are very cheap and I don't want to give mine away cheaply. Using bitcoins for purchases means to reduce crypto holdings while saving fiat money. And this year I want to do the exact opposite. With inflation around 8% it makes no sense to keep any fiat cash around. The only form of bitcoin transaction I am doing now is buying new each month and use bitcoin whenever I withdraw money from a casino.
1914  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESL ONE Malaysia 2022 Discussions, Predictions and Betting on: August 20, 2022, 07:25:24 AM

In my opinion, OG is a heavy favorite in this tournament. They have performed very well in the last tournaments they have competed in.

I agree with you, OG looked really strong in the last few tournaments. Getting 4th place in the Arlington Major was a good performance, and their loss for 3rd place against Team Aster was very close. The final might between the two teams again in Malaysia and at the moment it feels like a coin toss. Before placing any bets on who wins the tournament I would wait for the first few games to see who performance better. As for Team Secret I am not so convinced if they will pull through, I am rather rooting for Nigma Galaxy.  Looking at the groups I think that OG will be first in Group B and Nigma Galaxy second, in Group A it will be Team Aster first and Team Secret second.
1915  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will You Turn Down Your Old Friend on: August 18, 2022, 02:22:04 PM
Obviously yes, why risk all the progress I made in 2 months fighting my addiction for a single night out? The risk of getting hooked again is too big in my opinion. I haven't experienced gambling addiction myself or among my close friends, all my information I got is from reading online. What I read is that the hardest step is to try and break the addiction by getting help. Taking treatment is the right way to recovery and requires hard work and determination. There can be relapse during the recovery, but good friends should help us rather than be a temptation. If he really is a long term friend than I would tell him of my problems and I am sure he wouldn't try to convince to still go with him. I think going for a nice dinner and some beers would be a good alternative to catch up and talk about old times.
1916  Economy / Economics / Re: Most people more and more people depend from this on: August 18, 2022, 07:05:27 AM
This not really me you describe here, I am not doing any day trading anymore. Thinking about bitcoins is one thing, but being the first thing you think about in the morning and the last thing at night seems a bit too much for me. If you are a trading cryptos every day than it's your job and it's important, but are you really depending on it? Right now the market seems so volatile and it's mostly a sideways trend between 20-25k USD that trading every single day seems to much. After a 4-8% rise we see a similar drop the next day. Based on technical analysis you might find the intraday signals for each trend, for me this is too difficult and will likely result in over trading. In the past I tried day trading myself with mixed results. The amount of time I had to invest to achieve a profit was not worth it in the end, a more long term approach suits me better and it also lets me sleep more peacefully.
1917  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some Tips To Aide Successful Sports Betting. on: August 17, 2022, 12:19:46 PM
  • Gather as much information regarding the match and the players involved.
  • Select the odds from the respective gambling site based on the prediction after analysing head to head statistics.
  • Watch the game live, because at times the prediction goes wrong, and by the time can lower the losing placing a bet on the opponent.
  • For users who doesn't want to gather information and go for a bet on a game can go for live betting.

I agree with you that it's a good idea to watch the games we place our bets. It will help us to see if our predictions were accurate. Watching summaries of the game is fine but it will never show all important parts. And maybe our team lost due to a few unlucky situations. So far my experiences with live gambling wasn't really successful. I used live bets a few times in the past to close down bets I placed before. This always meant to take a save loss with no more upside chances. Too many times I have seen the game turn around in the last 10 minutes, which made me feel horrible for closing out the bets. Since then I kind of stopped betting in the opposite direction. If you are skilled sport bets gambler this is a good strategy, but for beginners it seems a bit too much. It's also good to make a prediction and stick with it to the end.
1918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you want to be a hero? (maybe not) on: August 17, 2022, 11:47:30 AM
It's hard if you put all your money and trust into one bank and when the time comes that you need your money the bank won't give it to you. I haven't heard of a similar story before, the actions of the bank are not okay, but it's also not okay to take matters into your own hand and take a hostage. There are rules and laws we need to follow. Taking the bank to court probably takes a long time and he might not have that time in an emergency. I have similar fears myself with the big banks in my country. Even though the government guarantees bank deposits up to 100,000 Euros, I still don't trust the system. We should learn from this story to never put all our money into a bank. I use 1 bank that has branches in my city and 3 different online banks to spread my money. One bank to save, one to do my brokerage for stock trading, one bank where I have a loan and then my main bank for every days business.
1919  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How profitable Is investing in a crypto casino or sportbook? on: August 17, 2022, 06:18:50 AM
I am not really an expert on the profitability of crypt casinos or sportbooks, but it's obvious that they are a really profitable and good investment for their owners. The boom in the online gambling industry over the last several years saw a rise in new casinos who are competing for market shares. Even with strong competition among the casinos and offering promotions like 200% deposit bonuses it' still a lucrative business to operate your own or be part of a casino. All of the games a casino runs has a house edge, this positive expected value means that the more people play their games the higher their profits. We know the winning percentages of the casino from the Roulette or BlackJack, here the casino usually has a 4-6% edge. In slots the number is even higher, the RTP is between 90-96% that means that on some slots the casino can make up to 10 cents for every $1 played. It's the same games a physical casino is running and they have to pay for rent, electricity, a lot of more employee, security, etc. When it's already profitable for a physical casino to operate with all these additional costs than it makes it so much more lucrative for a online casino to operate the same games. If you have the chance to invest in a crypto casino or sportbook you should look at it in great detail, it's important not to overpay for your share.
1920  Economy / Economics / Re: Credit cards | A scam or a tool? on: August 16, 2022, 08:46:48 AM
What's your take on this? Are you against credit card usage?

I used to like credit cards a lot for travelling, it was a guarantee to get money and pay bills even when other bank cards didn't work. I never used credit cards at home, only when abroad. As long as there is no monthly fee I have no problem with them. Charging a monthly fee for a card that is rarely used seems like a rip off to me. I remember the first time travelling abroad my grand parents gave me traveller cheques and told me I could use them anywhere, which was completely outdated nobody accepted them and I took them back home. After that I got a credit card as emergency from my parents. And now after using it for many years I am not sure anymore, during my last trip to Thailand I noticed that exchanging cash locally was getting much better exchange rates than the bank was giving me at ATMs or in restaurants. It seemed really wierd to pay a fee and get worse rates. I could have saved atleast 120 USD by using cash instead of a credit card. So at the moment credit cards seem the most convenient solution but not the cheapest.
