281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: IceRiver io seems scammy, your opinion? on: March 27, 2024, 09:09:57 AM
If you buy ASICs, you can do this from trusted sellers on marketplaces. You will usually have time to inspect the equipment before your deal is closed and the seller receives your money. Before you start mining, talk to miner groups in your country and you will learn a lot of useful information.

When I am CPU mining with 7950x in Windows, with standard settings it automatically selects AVX2 protocol instead of 512. I could not find help for this anywhere. Do you maybe know what setting should I include in appsettings
I don't use Windows, but I would start looking for the answer to the question from the BIOS settings or from the miner software settings.
Usually optimization is enabled in the miner settings

If you are unable to set up the miner, then ask for advice on the project’s discord.

Not every celeron cpu is good for multi gpu mining. I remember from eth mining days when I bought wrong celeron for my 19xpcie motherboard. Celeron G3900 works with multiple (8+) gpus at x1 pcie.
Do not use first pcie slot, IMPORTANT it is x16 and it uses up most pcie lanes.

TLDR: DO NOT PUT GPU IN FIRST SLOT, LEAVE EMPTY

If you are using an x1 raiser, then there should be no problems with 8 video cards on a regular motherboard. And you should also not use NVMe drives.
If there are more video cards, then it is better to think about buying another processor in advance. But for me, the ideal number of video cards on a motherboard is 6, so that consumption is no more than 1 kilowatt per hour.

I wish I had read this earlier. In such cases, you usually need to change the motherboard and processor. Many Tesla P100 video cards do not work on all older platforms. And for old video cards, your Onda B250-D12P-D1 Motherboard will still be relevant even with a old Celeron.

289  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hiveon. №1 OS for mining on: March 23, 2024, 01:01:02 PM
7 cool commands for HiveOS

1. nvidia-smi dmon -s et -d 10 -o DT
Usage: Shows whether risers are generating errors. Good risers and cables have a 0 in the PCI Errors column

2. intel-info
Usage: Shows status/information about your Intel dGPU processors.

3. nvtool -h
Usage: Shows all nvtool command parameters (throttle, etc.).

4.amd-info
Usage: Shows the status/information of your AMD devices.

5 nvidia-info
Usage: Shows the status/information of your Nvidia devices.

6. nvidia-driver-update
Usage: Updates Nvidia drivers.

7. Keyboard shortcuts as a bonus:
Ctrl+C
This combination stops any running command.

Ctrl A+D
Use this command to exit the screen (miner or agent). The screen will continue to work.

Ctrl A+A
Using this combination you can switch between screens if you have a second few miners running.

291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: UK mining with current electric prices on: March 23, 2024, 12:50:28 PM

The RX6600 are such a great and efficient card - your right about the power draw. I had 15 on 2 rigs until eth 2.0 was released, then they became expensive space heaters until i sold them, they sold very quickly but at a loss unfortunately. A week or 2 after i sold them, i saw people were making a decent profit sending their GPUs resources to AI farms. Not sure how profitable that is now however i now wish i had held onto them. They also could of been used for hashcat hash cracking rigs used for penetration testing...
The RX6600 was very good at mining Ethereum and was often used in Europe due to its good energy efficiency. In Russia, as a rule, they used RX480 8 GB. But now such weak video cards bring very little profit. The market is already becoming saturated with inexpensive, silent ASICs for the home.

lolMiner 1.85 Beta Pre-release

This release is intentionally flagged as a beta version. The reason is that some features are missing that would make it complete. See the list below. All the new additions that are mentioned have production grade quality though.

Changes
Significantly improved Gram hashrate on AMD RX 5000 and higher cards by almost 10%
Added support for mining the Fishhash mainnet. New parameter -a FISHHASH. This will automatically use the new Ironfish stratum format that is mandatory after the fork. Supported GPUs: Nvidia GTX 1000 series and newer, AMD RX 5000 series and new. Supported dual mining options with Alephium (ALEPHDUAL), Gram (TONDUAL) and Radiant (RXDDUAL).
Removed old Fishhash testing codes.

I wouldn't believe all the announcements in the news. There were a lot of such announcements, including from Intel, but mining equipment from Bitmain is the most widespread in this market and therefore the best. I remember only 1 case when a private company released an ASIC for Ethereum, which was very good, but the supply was limited.

Ethereum Foundation Faces Inquiry From a Government; Fortune Says SEC Investigating ETH
After the publication of this article, Fortune reported the SEC seeks to classify ETH as a security.
The Ethereum Foundation – the Swiss non-profit organization at the heart of the Ethereum ecosystem – is facing questions from an unnamed "state authority," according to the group's website's GitHub repository.
The confidential inquiry comes during a time of change for Ethereum's technology and at a possible inflection point for its native asset, ETH, which many American investment companies are seeking to offer as an exchange-traded fund. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has slow-walked their efforts despite recently approving a series of Bitcoin ETFs.
After the publication of this article, Fortune reported the SEC is seeking to classify ETH as a security, a move that would have major implications for Ethereum, an ETH ETF and crypto as a whole. The financial regulator has sent investigative subpoenas to U.S. companies in the past several weeks, according to Fortune's reporting.

Any info about some good cpu coin?
QUBIC
Find all known coins for mining on a processor on this resource

What happens with payouts, I had 3 solutions and I didn't get paid this wednesday, and all my solutions got reset.
Would really appreciate help, thanks
If you have used a mining pool, then it is better to ask this question in the community of miners of this pool. If you are mining solo, then it is better to ask this in discord. With mining on pools, everything is stable now. But you should give more information about how you mined the coin.

I am using app.qubic.li for pool like every tutorial said.
Can anybody with legendary status confirm that poolsolutions.io is legit.
Thanks guys
Why do you need someone else's confirmation?
If there are instructions for Hive OS, then what are you afraid of?
Chat with miners in discord, request payment data. I have not encountered cases of non-payment of coins to miners on a pool, but sometimes I have encountered underestimated payments, so it is worth trying several pools.
298  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Huge Russian mining center in Ethiopia on: March 21, 2024, 02:41:23 PM
That's too much work for little to no gain, anyone who runs a mining farm should be able to afford a PC or laptop of some kind, if the farm has many gears then tracking them on a mobile app is going to be a nightmare, if it has a few then monitoring apps are not really needed to begin with.

Not trying to discourage OP, but the best question to ask yourself before attempting to sell a new piece of software is "why would people use it", since 99% of the users won't be to able to safely check if the software is "honest", chances are -- most of them won't run it anywhere near their mining farms, all you need to have a miserable couple of months ahead is a nightswitcher or antbleed virus infecting a dozen miners on your farm.
I don't understand what you want to say about the laptop. Do you think that a large miner will not have enough budget for several computers?
The main control is usually on the computer, but the chief and duty engineers usually have an additional application on their phone that notifies about problems and failures during mining so that the staff can respond faster.

In this video, the procedure is done very carefully, but in Russia some miners do this using a regular metal file
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmQ7IU8Nj2c&ab_channel=JayzTwoCents

This kind of manipulation really helps. From 92 degrees the temperature dropped to 85-88 degrees. True, we also had to solve the problem with uneven pressure on the cooler. Replacing thermal paste with a more effective one allowed us to gain a few more degrees.

300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining DOGE with Antminer A3 on: March 21, 2024, 02:21:26 PM

Any modern and expensive processor and video card will lose to ASICs in mining. You compare your processor with an old ASIC, and if you compare it with a new ASIC 9.5Gh, then it will be clear that mining on the processor will not give a profit.

Of course.
I wanted to compare ASIC with CPU before buying ASIC Miner. If a CPU with a hash rate of 4 kh/s gives 1.4 doge in 24 hours, that means even the old Antminer A3 with 500 Mh/s will give (500 * 1000 * 1.4)/4 =  175,000 doge in 24 hours. This is very profitable even after the electric bill.

I was discussing whether this scaling is possible or not.
With my tariff of 5 cents and consumption of 800 watts, I have a very noisy box with a profit of 36 cents per day.
I don’t know your electricity tariffs and your consumption limits, but scaling is not always possible, and if possible, it is very expensive, so you will have to buy modern ASICs. If you have free electricity, then this is a different situation.
