@sieve66,

what country are you located?  (You don't have to answer in public but you can email us support@bitmain.zendesk.com)

S3 or S3+ control PCB is BRIKED, then it can be serviced in USA, EU or Ukraine at the moment at minimum fee.  ($15 USD for North America & 15 Euro for EU/Ukraine area)

If it is burnt, then no, it can not be serviced.

@luthermarcus,

If you bricked the S3 control PCB, and you are in USA/EU/Ukraine/Russia, we may be able to reset it for you.

Please DO NOT connect S3 hashing PCB to S4 control PCB.  You may damage both!

Luck at the Antpool was a  bit low, but it is turning around and coming back!

Stay tuned!

Please wait for the details.

Does anyone here know what the component labeled "G337 V2" on the Antminer S5 hashboards is? It's a 2-pin package, looks to be built for high current, and is silkscreen labeled C2, C3, etc. There's one in between each pair of ASICs -- i.e., one for each stage in the string, shared by both strings. My best guess is that they are shunt voltage regulators intended to serve as a bypass in case the voltage gets too high (dead ASIC?), but I don't really know. Ideally, if someone at Bitmain could chime in with a link to a datasheet or a part number, that would be ideal. We're investigating an issue on behalf of another miner in which some of them appear to have burned out.
288  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S4 PSU replacement alternative on: April 24, 2015, 06:43:16 AM
Thank you for the info share with pictures.  EVGA 1600w can also do the trick and a few other 1500W or stronger PSU!

Last night I wired up a harness to adapt the S4 to an IBM 2880W PSU with 10ga wiring and ring terminals.  Here are some pictures (Cables are a tangled mess, need to be cleaned up and wire tied in place):

The PSU's are rated to handle 2x S4's. Because I don't currently have a 2nd S4 to test with, I have 2x Asicminer Tubes running at 270 Mhz each connected as well, which should put at least as much load as a 2nd S4.  So far the PSU has no problem keeping up, nor should it.  I have tested the PSU's to around 2950W for weeks at a time without problem.  I will try to fit a 2nd S4 to run both off the IBM 2880W and show pictures.

Breakout boards for the IBM 2880W can be found in J4bberwock's thread for Europe/Asia/Worldwide: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=893159.0
Or in my thread for Canada/USA:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=966135.0

For cables I used 24" PCIe to PCIe cables cut in half and stripped, crimped butt connector and shrink-wrapped 10 ga wiring for both power and ground as well as a ring terminal.  If anyone wants to make up a similar harness, the measurements for the 10ga wire length are as follows (in addition to the 12" of PCIe cable with bare lead connected to the board)

12V+
21"
27"
22.25"
27.25"

12V-
21"
27.25"
23.25"
28"

Additional PCIe cable to power BBB board is approx. 36" to the breakout board.

Cables to power 2nd S4 (if stacked underneath) can be same length, but connected to the closer side of breakout board.

Your hashing PCB are not being recognized by the control PCB.

One hope (if you are lucky), reload the firmware from here
https://bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=007201407180243004432lBQW28O0633

If this doesn't work and if you have another working S3, swap the control PCB and see if the good control PCB can make this miner alive again.

Hello, today an s3 of mine stopped working,  when I turn it on the fans immediately start running at full speed, and it does not hash, blades and fan speed don't appear on the miner status tab.

Does anyone know what could happen?

Thanks in advance

Air intake is from the front (PSU/Ethernet port side)  THere are 4 fan connectors on the control PCB!  Wink

Always the policy is any modification of the unit will void the warranty...

side note, reversing the fans should not do any damage.  2 fans to intake and 2 fans to suck them out of the box.

Bitmain,

I assume air intake is on the front of the unit, where you plug the PSU? Is it OK to reverse the airflow by switching all 4 fans around? I need the front to be the exhaust side.

1 thing for this S4+ is, it is a new PSU different from the previous S4 version.  It is stable on 208v.

if you like the rack mount system, you will definitely like this unit.

Also, not like S4, this unit does not require human interaction with the switch on the back during the power cycle.  When the power comes on, it will boots right up!

Just had a negative growth and it may be another negative growth in about 12 days YAY!!!

Thank you all for all the input so far.  If you are visiting New York between April 27-29, one of the S4+ will be displayed at the Inside Bitcoin Conference.  Please stop by and say Hi.  (We are also thinking about having a local Bitcoin Tax specialist at our booth to answer questions regarding mining and tax in USA. *)

Here are some preview from the S4+.

Noise wise, this is measured with a smartphone app.  So it could be a few +-% off.  Its not measured in the non-echo room.  Room with Drywall as the wall material.

If the S5's internal firmware was corrupted and no other damages to the S5, it can be restored by using the MicroSD card.

You can download the bootable MicroSD card image for the restore purpose from here

https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203461209-Jan-7-Firmware-Image

and you can use HDDGURU.com software called RAW DISK COPY to create the bootable MicroSD card and revive your S5. http://hddguru.com/software/HDD-Raw-Copy-Tool/

P.S:  Yes, bitsolutions guy is correct.

294  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: April 20, 2015, 03:04:49 AM
Please try with other pools and see if Antpool connection was the cause or not.

Thank you!
295  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: April 20, 2015, 12:40:00 AM
These pins are for internal use. It will not effect any mining result or the speed.

can somebody please tell me for what are this pins:
this is antminer u3 batch 2

Its pure luck Cry

Example.

I turn on my s3 and after was runing example 8hourse and right now turn off miner 2 minute turn on miner , continue (resume) from 8 hourse if begin 0 hourse and my luck the end ?

@ jds1119,

What pool are you using?  It could be the S4 or it could be the pool side or it could be the network restriction.

To test the PSU, please disconnect one of the four hashing PCBs from the PSU inside the S4.  If the unit remains powered on and continue to hash without any problems, then it could be the PSU being degraded and not able to produce enough power for 4 hashing PCB.

Can  you try hashing at KANO.IS to see if the miner stay connected and continue to hash? You can try BTCGUILD.COM as well as GHASH.IO. (Process of Elimination here... if the cause is on the pool end or not)

FYI:
We are hearing more an more Corporate Network being limiting Bitcoin Mining Activities via various way to restrict mining activities from the work place.

If someone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. I have a 4 S4's. Today one of then just stopped hashing. It still runs but just not doing any work, says o ghs on the led. I restart it and it gets up close to the 2TH and then slowly(over 10 mins) goes to 0 again. I updated the firmware, same thing happened. I leave these at work so its a pain in the ass to go there 3 times on a Saturday to reset them. I just got back the final time and as soon as I get home it say zero again. Please and thanks. Is this a symptom that I need a new PSU or is there something wrong with the miner. Thanks again

299  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: April 18, 2015, 10:21:22 PM
these missing data or filled with 0 second will usually be updated in a few hours.  Sometimes may take longer than 6 hours, but it eventually updated with proper data!

sorry for the inconvenience

Antpool web-based interface is stuck on zero. Seems to be mining though.

Yeah I saw that earlier; I guess they are battling other mining pools and suffered a major blow somehow. We may be witnessing the re-birth of the Romance of Three-Kingdoms (Antpool; F2Pool; BW.com). Maybe a new Shaolin technique was used or the Wu-Tang is at it again who knows.  Undecided

(As you can see; I love Chinese lore)
