And this my dear sir, is a very good idea.

1. You could make it so you visit a website with all the coffee variants, simply clicking on what you want, and you will be presented with the payment information, from where you can pay using whatever Bitcoin app.
2. You could scan the menu card, which would have QR codes for every coffee variants, and be directed directly to the payment.
3. Only imagination. But wow what a roller coaster we are about to embark on.

i was more thinking of a quickpay app bips could make.
customers:
registration - get given deposit address to PRE-PAY a small pocket money amount (this is to preconfirm payment and create a balance/credit)
using it - app shows a list of merchants to pay that use the quickpay gateway. customer selects the merchant.
customer scans a product barcode or qr code that holds info like the price and product name
API call from the app goes to bipsquickpay server and changes the balances/credit in favor of the merchant and sends the order via API to the merchant.

no waiting for confirms as the funds are technically already in bips hands. and as it is only 2 API calls and a balanace/credit database alteration it should take only a second or 2 to complete
28022  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Send bitcoin by sound waves (Point of Sale; Mobile Checkout, bitcoin eWallet) on: October 13, 2013, 12:44:08 PM
i went to the chirp website and read their waffle.

it involves pressing the yellow button to record the sound.. and is done best near the sound with limited background sound to work best..

now lets imagine 2 coffee orders going through at the same time from 2 cash registers.. both customers hearing each others sounds and all confusion.

now imagine sitting at the table outside starbucks seeing the staff are busy and there is a queue.. you need to indicate to a waiter or join the line to get another coffee.... and get the record button ready.

but my idea is to just stay sat at the table, select starbucks from bips app, scan the coffee QR code from the menu and then press order.. no staff needed, no chirps needed, no unique addresses needed for the merchant to distinguish between transactions. no confirms needed as funds are pre-confirmed..

that is how things should be done..

EDIT: whats not fast enough, what part of the transaction is slow (having never used it i thought id ask)
28023  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Send bitcoin by sound waves (Point of Sale; Mobile Checkout, bitcoin eWallet) on: October 13, 2013, 12:13:36 PM
sending files via sound...

can anyone remember the annoying noise that 56k dial up modems made. or the beeps and hums a zx spectrum PC made when loading a program. with NFC, Wifi, bluetooth, and cameraphone (QRCODE) being out for a while now.. isnt this 'sound transmission' a little backwards.. like 1990's style of data transmission.

i imagine star bucks telling the customer the total, the customer saying they want to pay via bitcoin. then suddenly the staff member shouts "everyone please be silent this customer needs to receive a soundbite to pay us"..

customer is then loading up his phone hitting the microphone on button and then nodding in silence to inform the staff member he is ready to receive the soundbite.

all the customers inside starbucks then get a screeching sound in their ear.

-

now the way i prefer to see it is that bips have a server containing deposit addresses for 'members' to put in a small pocket money amount (say 0.2BTC($25)) to cover a weeks worth of coffee or sandwiches..

the customer simply opens their bips app selects starbucks and then scans the drinks QR code from a menu found anywhere instore and pressing send order. this via mobile internet/wifi is received by BIPS/starbucks that member 123xyz ordered a double latte and at the same time the funds are moved from the members deposit balance into their bips starbucks account ready to transfer into FIAT.

and because members have pre-paid, the funds are already confirmed

all that is needed is a app made by bips to connect merchants and members together. and a server holding bitcoin addresses for people. thi same app could list any merchant that was 'affiliated' with BIPS.

this way they can order before they enter star bucks. or at the table without interacting with staff. making staff more efficient by making coffees instead of standing at cash registers.
28024  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinmap.org shows almost no retailers accepting BTC in China/Japan/Taiwan on: October 13, 2013, 10:05:18 AM
perhaps the reason is more simple then you think.

maybe having multi-lingual instructions to add a location is the answer and then post the link in the asian section of the forum to advertise it is all that is needed...

PFFFT I don't even have a basement Tongue

Anyway, AFAIK most people here are INTX (as in <85% based on the last poll), and NTs in general are predominantly male.  No, not all the NTs here are working on projects related to Bitcoin, but they're definitely the vast majority.  I'm fairly certain the last poll was in the main Bitcoin forum, or at least somewhere most people would've found it, so I see no reason to mistrust it.

i can disprove most peoples belief that over 85% of them think they are strategists or engineers.. most men when doing tests exadurate their positives and undervalue their negatives..

such as. teenage gamers that stay home all day.. most of the world would say they are loners.. but to them. they are communicating with the world via the internet so they will always put social skill questions as being a high rating..

also. being objective. while these same teenage gamers set an objective of staying up 40 hours to watch a TV series marathon or get to level 50 Uber god mode on a game. thus thinking to rate objectivity as high.. their family will see that they havnt taken a shower or done the chores for 3 months.. same with neat and orderly.. he looks into his computer case and sees all the cables all zip tied nicely... but ignores the laundry basket in the corner.

these tests should be taken with a pinch of salt
28026  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is way behind at mobile payments on: October 13, 2013, 07:15:52 AM
The UK banking system is far more advanced and flexible than the US one.  In the UK, you can send a payment from any bank account to any other bank account in the middle of the night on a weekend, and it will get there in less than an hour.  And it is free.  And all the accounts have two factor.  So I guess you could say that bitcoin is EVEN FARTHER BEHIND the UK than it is behind US-based Simple.
Shocked Why on Earth are there so many UK Bitcoin users with a seemingly-great banking system like that? What could they possibly do to make people leave - keep government database of everyone's transactions without need of a warrant? Disallow cash withdrawals? Huge monthly fees and no interest?

as a brit ill tell you
i do love the speed of wire transfer, but i do hate the requirement to log into my bank. type in the other persons bank details. receive a phone call to verify that im processing the transfer. and then sending it.. it takes longer to set up a transaction then it does to actually send/receive.
where as bitcoin is less of a headache, even if both methods take about 10 minutes from start to end

theres other reasons, such as Teentrepreneurs (teenage entrepreneurs) who cant get fully functional bank business accounts due to being under 18, which snowballs onto being unable to open and start businesses due to requirements of a business account to hold funds..

bitcoin gives them more freedom to do what they want, how they want without all the red tape.

but with all that said there are not as many bitcoiners as you may think and convincing merchants of bitcoin benefits is a harder task compared to america. the 'faster payment' is a hurdle to jump over when trying to convince merchants
28027  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I Figured Out Who Satoshi Is on: October 13, 2013, 06:37:26 AM
why you guys want  more information about Satoshi he is anonymous its ok for him otherwise NSA or FBI will take over him

i personally don't care who he is, im just poking at those that are investigating him and feeding the trolls. but in seriousness if he was to be found, exactly what information can NSA or FBI garnish from him that they cant get by simply reading the white paper or opensource code.

if there was any reason to arrest/question anyone related to making bitcoin functional, these days it would have to be GavinA and his team of coders. because as of today its only them that would know any backdoors or all the weaknesses for governments to use/abuse for whatever reasons they desire.. should they even have desires, which i do not think they do...
28028  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin have a Gender Gap Problem? on: October 13, 2013, 06:21:59 AM
From a psychological perspective, specifically looking at jungian personality, there is an easy explanation.

If you look at the poll taken of bitcointalk members, you will see that bitcoiners are overwhelmingly "INTJ" and "INTP" personality types (meyers-briggs).  Among these types, males outnumber females about 3:1 over the general population.

on the development sub forum i agree with you. but in the main bitcoin forum area i believe they are more like this:
comedy trolls(ESFP) 10%
basement dwelling trolls(INFP) 10%
donators/investors(ENFP) 40%
coders(INTP) 20%
project developers(INTJ) 20%

you will never know exactly how many women are into bitcoin because the last time a few females i know of personally signed up, they were receiving personal messages from members once people realised they were female..

so most females use the anonymity of bitcoin to its max, by never telling anyone what gender they are and ignoring silly polls
28029  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is way behind at mobile payments on: October 13, 2013, 05:30:24 AM
the app looks like it connects to a server that finds peoples profiles (picture, name, etc) this is one thing that nobody in the bitcoin comunty has done as they believe it goes against the whole 'decentralised' ethos of bitcoin.

although i do prefer the decentralisation of bitcoin, i do find that having a voluntary centralised service to put small amounts into for fast payment, preconfirmed funds to be held in. This would benefit the 'small transaction' mobile payment crowd into accepting bitcoin.

EG having a gateway that just stores £$25 (0.2btc) so that you can go to starbucks everyday that week and just press one button and walk out the door to pay, without waiting.

the mobile App solution for bitcoin needs to evolve passed a bitcoin-Qt clone, if its ever to gain a mainstream acceptance.
28030  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I Figured Out Who Satoshi Is on: October 13, 2013, 04:51:51 AM
so there you go, british education and a superfan of pokemon (nobody researches and adopts the name of the creators of something unless they superfans)

the being a superfan narrows it down to an age bracket of the under 30yo(to have been at adolescent age to enjoy pokemon) and over 20 (else he would be adopting twilight or beiber based names as nicknames)  Grin

now that should narrow it down for you
28031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin have a Gender Gap Problem? on: October 13, 2013, 04:22:56 AM
Most women don't play computer games, they don't even know computer much or graphic cards much.

??
hmm i see the opposite, i see women playing Wii games all the time, facebook games, online bingo games, which when combined far outpace the amount of call of duty/Warcraft population

and what do graphics cards have to do with bitcoin anymore.. i think your stuck in the past, much like your sexist comments.

its more likely that these people with sexist comments don't themselves see many women in their life to actually judge what women know or don't know. after all while sat at home playing your xbox how many women cross your path everyday? maybe the girls you do hook up with that from your experience dont know much about computing is more of an admission of the 'type' of girl you prefer, rather then a observation of ALL women in general.

now if you went to a work place you would see more women working cash registers, being secretary's, PA's, receptionist's, accountants, etc (computer roles). while the men are in the warehouses or restocking shelves, mending things, etc.

women these days are more handy with a cellphone, ipad then men are.

but this thread totally proves the point of why women don't attend bitcoin conventions, because of the mindset of men here do not respect women, do not see them as equals, as intelligent or as business savvi.

so that is what needs to change to get more women involved.

28033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin have a Gender Gap Problem? on: October 13, 2013, 12:46:17 AM
lol

the IQ test was designed for all, aimed at measuring the intellect of children. its about maths and puzzles. which both males and females can accomplish. there is nothing sexist about IQ tests.

what is sexist is the Ego of men.. those with high IQ will show off, join mensa and get books deals to write about their lifestory being smart. where as women are not as ego-centered to publicise their intelligence.

thus it is found that male EGO's make statistics look more favorable to males. because the statistics look at how many men vs women are in mensa. not how many men/women get the minimal IQ requirements to join.

and this point is proven by the OP. he based his idea that women don't understand bitcoin, not based on talking to women, but based on how many, or lack of women there were at a convention.

to those that actually have girlfriends, wives etc. we all know when arguing with a women, us men will never win. they are very clever and whitty to get what they want, in many ways. and they are subtle about it too. they dont show off their intelligence they do it with cunning and strategy...

once the naive hormone induced bitcoin fans make sense of this, and that bitcoin conventions become more about official business instead of dating hook-up spots. you will see a few more women turn up.
28034  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I Figured Out Who Satoshi Is on: October 13, 2013, 12:04:52 AM
looks like your research equates to about 20 seconds of a google search. missing out vital points.

the main one being

Satoshi Nakamoto has had a UK English based education. this is based on his writings being in the UK English grammar and spelling, as oppose to american.

many other people have tried looking into it. so please reply in those threads with better evidence instead of opening a new thread with little to no evidence of the links between nakamoto and whomever you find
28035  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin have a Gender Gap Problem? on: October 12, 2013, 07:32:21 PM
Women

Just wait. Computer science isn't a male-dominated field any more, and actually is projected to become female-dominated in the future. Bitcoin will follow.

Minorities

Like anything that involves money, Bitcoin lacks minorities. However, look at Bitcoin adoption in China and Africa. As these countries adopt Bitcoin, their diaspora will too.

computing is not a male dominant field...

there are more men doing construction, mechanics etc. but when it comes to computing, you will find more women at a computer then men.. the whole women arnt into computing is the naive thought process of the adolescence that never hear many women on a xbox live group game, or see them at a geeky conference. its all due to the hounding and stalking that goes on.. but in actual workplace scenarios, women do dominate the computing market.

women are in the community, you just wont see them. what we need to do is concentrate on making bitcoin a serious business where ANYONE in business can attend, not being concerned about gender, but about the tone of the event.

EDIT:
while writing i see 2 posts have been done with sexist naive remarks about women. lol. this makes my point even more apparent.. men think of women as housewives that are not smart. this is where bitcoin needs to change..
28036  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin have a Gender Gap Problem? on: October 12, 2013, 06:50:24 PM
here we go again,

if you want to meet women at conventions .. go to cosplay conventions. bitcoin is about business and finance, not meeting woman. in my eyes woman are just as business savvi as men so whether male or female the mainstreaming will move forward at the same pace so making a point that more women are needed sounds more like you want to turn these bitcoin conventions into dating hook-up locations, rather then business meeting points.

women do not like guys glaring at them and hounding them. i have seen many a time that a woman in a convention would have more men lingering around her, as if she was made of catnip. then some other person that actually has a business plan worthy of hearing, would have lingerers.

this deters women from turning up to such events. and as such they would still be involved in the community, but not be tempted to attend conventions.

so my advice is to not think of ways to make bitcoin more friendly to women. but to make conventions less friendly to hormone filled basement dwellers with no bitcoin business plans. that way it would remove the lingerers that only attend for dating hookups, due to their immature thinking that they finally have something in common with a woman to talk about.

if this were achieved where bitcoin meetups were based on business as oppose to the social side of meeting women.. more woman would feel comfortable to attend. because there are plenty of women in the bitcoin community, you just wont see them at conventions (at the moment)

this is a lie...

phin does do it for a pat on the back....... not for the money. the money doesnt go to him it goes to charity Cheesy

28038  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When is Bitcoin's birthday ? on: October 11, 2013, 08:28:02 PM
for those comparing satoshi history to biology of human reproduction:

conception - putting words to paper
basically the whitepaper is the act of sex, without sex there would be not child without whitepaper there would be no code.

gestation period - paper translates to programming
white paper becomes code / sperm and egg become fertilised (embryo)
first compiled code / baby's first ultrasound showing it has 10 toes and 10 fingers(embryo becomes foetus)

foetus is born - first sign of the blockchain (block zero)

its first laugh, cry - block 1 (first spent coin)

babys first tooth (no longer relying on mothers teet) - first non coinbase transaction

so the question is the 3rd of january is the day of birth.

right now due to all the uncertainty of regulation i would say bitcoin is at its 'terrible twos' (toddler stage) just starting to fight off authority (toddler tantrums).  so its interacting with other small scale merchants (goes to kindergarten / play-school / nursery)

soon it will go mainstream (school age)

then it will go through its biggest asset competing phase against FIAT/rare metals (teenage rebel stage)

P.S - its true what they say, women are most susceptible to getting pregnant again straight after birth (altcoins)

I know that people on this forum seem to denote some sort of superiority complex when i comes to management skills, so i will layout more details for you.
I have contacted the page owner and he seems to be very busy, because i have not gotten a reply yet(1), i sent him my info(2).

As for transfering to FIAT they would need to do that in order to use the money.

Next time i will not follow thru with an idea until i have the board of Bitcoin director approve my plan.

so let me get this straight.
there is no prior agreement for them to accept bitcoin or even know what bitcoin is(as far as your aware)[1]
he doesnt know you personally[2].
so i take it this bitcoin address does not belong to any of the organisers, but is a wallet with a private key owned by yourself. and you wonder why asking for a donation for a good cause gets such high attention. its to help ensure-assure people that the end parties actually receive the funds and that the funds dont end up in some random persons pocket, never helping the cause or the bitcoin community.

i would suggest next time dont just pick a random charity/organisation from a google search and then request donations by flashing a few hyperlinks about. try contacting the organisation and get them setup with bitcoin first.

once its established the charity or organisation itself is accepting bitcoins, the donations will start flowing..

and try not to get negatively emotional about people not willing to donate unless they see proof of intent/involvement..
28040  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Enterpoint Bitfury USB Stick on: October 10, 2013, 10:08:51 AM
thats like intel advertising a 3.6Ghz CPU (which everyone knows can be overclocked up higher) but in reality its only manages 1.83Ghz CPU once you put it into a motherboard. and intel replying, thats what customers should expect...

and now i tooo have bit..fury.
by that i mean, darn these bitcoin industry manufacturers... they say one thing, and mean another lol..

no offence to enterpoint as i know its not their chips...

.. still atleast these sticks are gonna be alot better then 333mhash
