2861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you in support of paying your taxes in Bitcoin? on: March 13, 2018, 03:38:27 AM
Not really a big fan of such in the usa ..but in my case

1) bank told SEC I was up to something in 2013 ..on basis all BTC was evil then (fun times) (cleared) as a result
already on radar ..that boat sailed

2) If you ever want to spend your crypto for $$$ you need to pay taxes..or else if you go over too much...IRS will figure it out..thus
my plan is AFTER TAXES my crypto is still worth more than enough for travel/trophy girlfriend/retirement/etc

But again, I was caught up in the gov't net a long time ago in 2013 and had to prove my bona fides to the powers that be..thus gonna always be a house cat
unable to run free in the crypto woods like others...neutered Sad

Color me confused...but won't ethereum just FORK

I know the Baikal N unit is gonna try to slam a mess of GPU coins with that ASIC and there

is a groundswell to fork and make the units doorstops before they even ship

(fun times)

or does Bitmain have enough of a solution with other coins this does not matter

anyway, curious on their options ...on such...

2863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: March 13, 2018, 03:28:09 AM
I think I asked this before

but has MinerBox for network use with Sia ever ship from last summer

have not heard anything ..so curious (did not get one...just remember this)

and/or in folks view the general health/progress of the network before the ASIC units in June 2018 (supposedly)

thanks

2864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCR] Decred - Community Governance | Bitcoin Devs | Lightning Network on: March 13, 2018, 03:26:25 AM
Is Decred planning to fork with the ASICS coming out

Sia-Tech (August 2018)

Bitmain (likely July Pre-Order)

Just saying, not sure how the devs handle such

Baikal N does a mess of other GPU coins coming out and there is a 'groundswell' to all FORK and turn them into doorstops before shipping

Was just wondering about Decred as an aside

thanks

2865  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: March 13, 2018, 03:23:51 AM
throwing salt on the wound, wd bitmain

A mess of threads are stating Bitmain is coming out with an Ethereum protocol (I forget what it is called) miner and a Decred miner

My bet is it will be after the 6/1/18 coupons expire.....then after that pre-order run (available fall likely..I've seen August) they will announce

the next gen scrypt-pow and sha-256 miners AFTER they have run them for 4 months in the summer...another pre-order while they run

difficulty up...

Bitmain: Where evil pays, because Jhain Wu got bullied in his youth...(we are so screwed) (tm: bitmain)

Again, just tossing out speculation about this...but looking pretty good on these miners though, or so the rumor mill goes

2866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BAIKALMINER Giant-N cryptonight 20000h/s 60watt on: March 13, 2018, 03:20:10 AM
What about all this talk about coins this machine can run...forking

seems an uproar in the coins in question and devs and such saying fork!

unsure, if enough of them would do this...but they sure are yelling about it on the threads

anyway, for further reference indeed for those thinking of getting this unit (just in case)

FYI

Side note here, taking a chance someone may have looked at this

Is Ella an option for coin payout on www.prohashing.com

unlikely, but figured I'd ask

2868  Economy / Speculation / Re: Apocalypse BTC! How low will it go? on: March 13, 2018, 03:16:32 AM

Well hopefully the next mt. gox trustee dump will not freak the market out..in that it will be a 'known' event..thus...not as much freakout..

while the BTC infrastructure digests such dumps...I doubt the mt. gox trustee is gonna stop..seems clueless or does not care about getting maximum

profits on liquidation..which would be 1) sell to exchanges that wish to buy directly in bid war...or 2) auction...

every time he dumps he just drives the price down for his clients ..again clueless...

2869  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: March 13, 2018, 03:12:38 AM

I have quoted this message to remind you at next block halving.  Cheesy

not out on LTC or BTC HODL'ing...I may be out of personal LTC minnig the way I was pushed out of personal BTC mining in 2014....

sigh....

I need another equipment miracle this year...

'unicorn equipment falling from the sky" that makes sense and can ROI in a year w/o the usual bitmain ...dumping them like toaster games...

seems unlikely

2870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: March 12, 2018, 01:32:43 AM

I have the tax man to pay...so somewhat clueless on when I'm gonna sell some LTC to cover for such...

I will inform you all here, I always sell at the low and buy at the high...so at least some of you can time your buys to match my

ugly sales...(its a gift!)

surely if you don't sell them, it's not yet money... just keep 'em in the wallet.
But it is money. You can pay with litecoin no problem. As long as you can use something to pay for something else, shouldn't it automatically be considered 'money'?

when you sell is the key.....if the price is high ...you sell ..to cover expenses...if the price is low you have to sell more

also in the USA cryptocurrencies are considered property...if you sell before 1 year and 1 day it is 40% on capital gains and 10% to my state taxes (more or less)

and it is 20% on capital gains and 10% tax man..in that most of my LTC was at around $4.15 as you can tell this is gonna suck!

by the by ..I'm retired and trying to live off ALT hoard (saving BTC hoard) for the next 3 years..with hopefully mining at least into Fall 2018 worst case

thus have to keep ahead of the taxes that MAY be do..month to month..don't want to be caught behind the curve to tax man..if mining stops and income from

such stuff stops...or again..if price is low more ALT coins out the door like LTC to cover that optional stuff like: food/heat/clothing/medical etc Smiley

Sell OTC, tell nobody.. !

Funny enough.. i recall you saying that you were out of mining at the end of 2015... you're an old miner like me, you'll mine on until the day they put you in the ground brother!!

Yeah...well, KNC Liquidation Sale of 2015..got 6 new titans and a 7th new one off eBay....then I got a mess of Bitmain L3+'s April 1st, 2016 ordered...I posted on $4.15 LTC a $6 LTC floor

and was ...mocked...about it...I"m some kinda ASIC Savant..or something (or was) Smiley

went to $50 LTC promptly...every ..year I tell the CPA no more home business mining and/or unicorn equipment falling from the sky...currently waiting for the 'unicorn dump' of 2018 with

little hope...seems Mt.Gox Trustee is selling ($1.9 Billion to go) and hates everyone and panic sells on the low price....panics like a 12-year-old child....messing up BTC and Altcoin prices ..big time...

Also, remember Bitmain has captured all the Unicorns of many ASIC flavors on the equipment end...

We will see..this year I may be out!

2871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: March 12, 2018, 01:20:52 AM
when can we expect LISK to recover?

When the market recovers.

Also the expected open beta launch for Lisk (in 3 or 4 weeks) will help.

Look around bitcointalk...I don't have the thread off hand but the mt. gox trustee is dumping ...on each dump we hit a low...the trustee is clueless...I've read

that he has had offers to buy off exchanges from legit folk and that he would make more on an auction..but he seems to be panic dumping thus is mainly the

cause from the drop from 18k folk are saying. Thus since Nov 2017 or so...about $500 milion BTC have been dumped to USD and $1.9 Billion dollars to go!

sh*t we could be looking at 1,000 BTC again..if he panic dumps wrong.

So anyway, until this clears up ....we are looking at sideways at best or Jan 2017 $1,000 prices at worse ...till they clear this up...my fear is they have a

'deadline' to move BTC to cash..if that is the case...the whole works could go tulips....

what a cluster

thus LISK will have to stand on its own merits...and such.....because the link of price between alts like LISK is strong....we could be sucked into a downward

spiral of price...we have no control over...oh ....and with our luck the other shoe will drop with tether coin also....FML...

I think the Gox trustee has sold enough to pay off the debts, so may not sell anymore. Also now that he is been called out, if he does sell more, perhaps he will do it a more constructive method like you mentioned.

We can hope...unless he is giving advanced notice to relatives ..before he dumps as a mt. gox trustee...

Also, from what I heard of Japanese Bankruptcy...IF he pays off all the debts.....a portion will got to mark karpales....thus he probably will still be in the money as well

all we need now is the other shoe to drop on tether coin ...and it will be a party then! FML

Further...it is BANKRUPTCY ...I think ALL of the remaining $1.9 Billion has to be sold to USD, as a result...thus we are screwed....(why they call it bankruptcy..there is a

method to it...liguidate it all) again FML

2872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BAIKALMINER Giant-N cryptonight 20000h/s 60watt on: March 11, 2018, 06:14:49 PM
This won't be able to mine Monero after V7 right?. I wonder if the Giant-N is based on FPGAs as the other Baikals, and if it could be updated to V7 in the future. Without Monero this miner is not that interesting.

IF 60 watts is legit, IMHO, it would have to be FPGA based.....ASIC's burn electric....(ASIC: their mother was a space heater..their father was hair dryer) Smiley

So, IF, FPGA...I think they are programmable for other coins without issue...

2873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal Giant N - Cryptonight, Cryptonight-lite ASIC miner on: March 11, 2018, 06:11:28 PM
With Cryptonight ASICs on the horizon, when (if) Ethereum does go to POS, it's starting to look like AMD based miners are in for a shit-show.

there are threads here on bitcointalk  of Bitmain making both an ethereum miner and also decred miners....I suspect they will be announced in

the middle of April 2018 right after the giant dump of asic equipment of many flavors from nov to march of bitmain products...

may be a rough 1/2 year with BTC price and Mt. Gox BTC dumps and affected ALT prices and difficulty dumps on massive equipment hits...not counting above

FML

You have been permanently blacklisted. Go away.

@Searing I'll answer your messages soon.

Not a problem...I think I have the info from above in the thread and a couple other PMs..my concern is my usual 'postings' may not be legit anymore...along with the

moderators that likely canceled some threads to drop my numbers.....I/we may need a heads up on that again...on any changes

anyway, posted on here and got some pm's so you would not have to worry about the hassle....so think I'm caught up on what is what, besides my maybe concerns

of some threads that used to be good ..being moved by bitcontalk moderators may no longer be so..that is unclear as heck

as usual, thank you for your time on this and the thread..we appreciate it

2875  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 11, 2018, 06:04:10 PM
At least Bitcoin trading doesn't give you increased flatulence, nausea and intestinal cramping (unless you just lost $1 million).

Perspective: Apologies in advance if this comes off as a brag-post, but fuck losing $1M. Your entire perspective changes when you see your portfolio swing $10M in the matter of a couple days.

Learn how to ride those waves for few years of HODLing and <insert Mr Bean on Rollercoaster.gif>

All I can do is sit back and either laugh or shrug. (Please keep in mind my entire stash at this point is "house money", so perhaps my perspective is atypical)

If Bitcoin trading is a serious cause of, no-bullshit real life stress like stomach cramps and other anxiety symptoms, then perhaps that is a sign you may be a bit over exposed.

Nevermind your physical health. That's just fundamentally not financially healthly.

yeah..from the $18k high I'm down more than 50%....from high in value...with more of this Mt. Gox drama...where he seems to sell at the low in a panic sell mode....my concern is

if the Mt. Gox trustee has a deadline where he needs to move all the BTC to USD...if so we could be looking at last January 2017 $1,000 BTC again

Best case right now I can see is 'sideways' as we digest this Mt.Gox stuff and that could go on all year (worse if he has a hard deadline to xfer BTC to USD)

FML indeed!

SCAM

you sir could very well be correct.....

though their 300mh baikal cube last may 2017..was/is only 75 watts (in my bsmt)

but odds are 70/30 you are correct...or it is just 'puff' for baikal to see if it pays to build such a unit...floated out in the world..which

means all the facts/power will change...if/when they ever really announce and then of course ship in their usual 'kludge' fashion

So any info on price? If this makes about $500-$600 a month (assuming the hashrate won't go too crazy), then I think $2000-3000 seems reasonable.

this thread says 3600 USD

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3104350.0

not sure if the group buy on the above link is legit...but the price was from above

2880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal Giant N - Cryptonight, Cryptonight-lite ASIC miner on: March 11, 2018, 05:44:28 PM

can i see a video of this thing mining at 20kH/s?
are the certificates in order?

very interested, looking to buy 10 pieces.

Yeah, a video is needed indeed.

Also, the power seems dead wrong and the power connectors make no sense on how they are pictured IMHO...weird

Likely I will NOT get any on a group buy..they always seem to be 'iffy' on the OP on those...and also tend to be late as hell..like the last stuff shipped (again, IMHO)

we will see I guess

Bitmain will be jumping in with 2 new protocol ASIC's as well, I've read...Ethereum ASIC and a DECRED ASIC..or so the rumors work

at these BTC prices and driving ALT prices down with MT.GOX trustee dumping BTC on the lows (1.9 billion USD to go) this could get an ugly price/equip and all sorts

of directions all at the same time...

anyway, a video of this unit would be nice...or a review like from Philpma1957 on bitcointalk
