I guess I finally capitulated. I selected 6500-7000 in the poll. I've always chosen bullish before this and been wrong so so so many times. Does that mean the price is finally going to rise?
If it makes you feel any better, I selected "$7,000-$7,500".

This has been an awful Bitcorn season.

Not sure what the harvest is gonna be like in December.

>$8,500

Guess I'm hopeless. Smiley

I guess we are still waiting on you to capitulate then, it will rise only after the very last hold out falls.

Hodlers don't capitulate. I think it's possible that if there are enough hodlers, we may not see a textbook capitulation event. Or we've already witnessed it.

We shall have to add "Do Not Capitulate" to our wills. Cheesy

Well, I do my figuring for taxes from month to month (some 'small' and I mean 'small' mining yet in the bsmt) ...so stalling till

Sept 1st (next months figuring) before I have to sell some altcoins for my fabulous (er boring) retirement lifestyle.

I wonder if not a lot of folk are just not waiting till this 'ugly' month of August 2018 is done and hoping like me for a pump

by Sept 1st to pay bills (it is a dumb theory but it is my theory so that is what I'm doing). I can start a 'new mess' of figures

for capital gains and the rest in September and leave August behind! So using September 1st as my arbitrary must sell

to pay bills date, regardless of price, thus can just blame the BTC fairies/fates for my glory or demise on that choice.

hey, it's an angle

brad

I seriously had to check the calendar to see what month it is right now.

Perhaps it's because I'm on Thailand time which starts a bit sooner than most of the rest of the world but I am showing that September 1st has passed already.

yeah, duh....the crap I'm looking at for taxes is from sept 1 to 30th ..I mis-spoke? mistyped? whatever?

but anyway Sept sucked...August was not a lot of fun either

thus again, kicking my selling down the road good or bad idea till after the first..then I will have to pay no matter what

(count on a crash..it's how I roll on such decisions)

sigh

You know I'm getting more and more frustrated with this situation. I have messaged Lutpin earlier today asking him to just give an update in this thread like he has in the other campaigns he is a part of and no response. While he's posting about gambling sites instead, that really annoys me.

Lutpin, please acknowledge the issues going on what steps are being taken to resolve it rather than just casually posting while ignoring this campaign. It's been a ridiculous number of missed payments with zero updates.

Is this the only campaign that he pays cash or $$$. If so he may have got jam'd up when the price of BTC dumped last month

and is waiting for a pump in price to cover the difference. (Why I guess most campaigns pay in BTC up front for a few months in

advance so you don't get caught in such a situation)

This is speculation on my part, however, just only thing that seems to make sense that he has not addressed the lack of payment

of over a month on this board.
Hes just the middleman and manager from my understanding, and the bitblender people just added the funds last week.

again..I probably should not speculate.....just saying the dangers of such campaigns...on price drops (or rises) in either direction

whoever funds such, can be left holding the bag going huh?

we will be the first to know I guess chump or champ I guess

2047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: September 23, 2018, 12:51:26 AM
I was not around for a while at the Siacoin project. Is this coin still worth to follow? What are the next plans for this coin? Will there be some releases in the near future? Would be nice if someone can give me more informations.

they plan to fork the coin, as you can see previous in the thread with the amount of siacoin mined via other ASIC's this last year and the

fact siatech has no real network up to use these coins with more coming as the obelisk (doorstops) have arrived and will add more hash to

the process...

the odds are slim to none you can ever ROI on these units, even with a fork to obelisk only ASIC use

I am on day 23 of my 1st obelisk (doorstop still in box) I got the other 4 on Wens 9/1918(I got 5 total that was the last of them) thus they

are on day 3 as doorstops status not worth pulling them out of the box at a $1 a day loss each after electric

I suppose I could use them as bookshelf supports or doorstops left in the box...other than that out 1.11 BTC after taxes I would have

paid on the mining of coin to pay for these after gross and the 25% 1 year all equip deduction of 2017.

So got something back on this, but still, 1.11 BTC would have been nice to stay in HODL mode, even at these prices

So in other words, someone now could GIVE YOU a siatech obelisk sc1 blake2b siacoin miner and/or an obelisk decred miner

and you would never ROI (I think a decred miner, available now would be $1 a day, by next month when they arrive IMHO,

they won't ROI either.

I have a FREE decred miner coming 2nd batch, I got for my 5 coupons 1/2 price back in the day. But even FREE when it arrives

I doubt it will be worth running vs electric loss vs price when it shows up in 4 to 6 weeks.

So feel free to follow this 'clusterf*ck' but keep far, far away as to not get sucked in.....it is likely to go noplace.

Siatech will move the machines out, take their 20 million in assets and close shop, again IMHO. They will have shipped

the doorstops so we can't say it is fraud, they will say market conditions changed (like BFL) and that will be that. Will

divvy up the 20 million to pay of debts and split the rest among the founders I'd imagine and walk. Letting the corporation

take the fall vs their personal wealth. Rinse/Wash/Repeat...how things are done in the USA these days.

Get the units out the door, doorstops, divvy up the assets and bankrupt the corporation to protect your private funds via

the corporation taking the fall. The sad state of affairs is, besides the fork, which I doubt would work, even with the best

of intentions, it took them a year to make the ASIC's and bitmain and others 3-4 months max...thus these units are 8 months

too late to matter

so it goes you win some you lose some

Seems we've working on a loophole but put those relief applications in. Still will be much higher than 2.6%.

So again this is for big shippers? or are they gonna come after everyone since 2015 who got a $2.5k miner or so?

curious

not much I can do about it but pay, assuming they bother to look, I'd also bet money it is the carriers like fed ex and ups

that actually are doing the calculations...no way enough bureaucrats

so if you had 50k of equipment you'd pay a catchup of 2.6% or about $1.300 USD retroactively to the shippers for not following

the 2015 rules sheesh

If you don't wanna go through all that text, here's the short summary for you: VanEck SolidX ETF decision postponed

No problem, ETF's will be approved eventually.

Bakkt will be bigger they will launched it in November.

I would not be so sure about that, bureaucrats and politicians can kick that can down the road for years, IMHO. All they

have to do is stall and point to dodgy exchanges to accomplish this. As far as lobbying goes crypto is peanuts for $$$ compared

to other big money moving towards the powers that be. Thus, no bureaucrat ever got in trouble for being slow on controversial

decisions in any way or in any history I've ever heard of!

I guess the banks, killed that puppy dead...

That was all the talk months back, now nada...

2053  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: September 20, 2018, 04:26:27 PM
I was wondering if there is so much online storage demand, why are people still not using crypto as a decentralized storage option. This would be the perfect thing for encrypted backup right. You still don't hear a lot about it really.

Simple answer is...its not production ready yet

Yeah, that's the rub...the other ASIC makers making 10x or more Siacoin than expected for the debut of their Obelisk ASIC's and

NO, as you say production-ready cloud storage setup ready yet by SiaTech. With the current ASIC's fork or not adding to the amount.

Without the network up, Siacion in my view will hold little value, their network cloud storage now makes or breaks it, IMHO.

this includes people who trade and speculate, no scarcity argument to hodl for the network too many siacoin, thus scarcity for value

is off the table, again IMHO.

Then again, a buddy said they have $20 Million in the bank, they are not in fraud mode they did deliver a doorstop...thus if it

all goes to hell, those as SiaTech will go, ah well, we gave it a shot and be sitting pretty anyway!

(rinse/wash/repeat Butterfly Labs/GAW Miners/KNC games/Bitmain games/etc etc)

I see the OP was on today but posted nothing...that never seems to end well.

I am much more optimistic, his post 9/19 was to the other two campaigns acknowledging he screwed up and has been slacking recently. I don't know how long this went without pay we just haven't gotten the post in here yet.

Ok, I can accept that for now I guess. This is why you should just say BTC amount, rather than cash, you can get your ass caught

if the BTC does not stay stable or go up. Just a guess why the scramble. (or again why I should never run a signature campaign...I know my

limitations...)

2055  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your plan for the next world wide recession. Are you planning on such? on: September 20, 2018, 02:27:03 AM
Debt is a killer. When the last recession of 2007/2008 hit i was made redundant
after 15 years in the same company. With the redundancy money i cleared all
of my debt bar my mortgage and kept my dept to a very minimum. I dont have
a credit card since 2008 and only a small personal loan on a low interest rate
which will be cleared next year.

Other than keeping my debt to a minimum and trying to stash some bitcoin i
really cant do anything else.

as an aside Amex green or gold card you can put any amount on it eventually if trusted enough...but if not paid off in like 5 weeks they can hit you with

29% interest and take the card away. Why they call it a rich man's card. As an example, if you had an accident say out of state and put say 10k in say

bills of some kind (medical?) that you had to pay. You could use Amex and take a signature loan out at your bank (remember Amex charges only $80 a year

for the gold card, the green card is less. The gold card includes equiv of a AAA car service that in the states is $80 a year that works..so I call it's a wash and just

pay the yearly fee...I usually put 20k a year on the Amex..treat it like cash pay it off each month.. the only bill is the $80 a year because they don't allow a

balance with interest on the green and gold cards) Anyway, you go to a bank an try to get that signature loan at 9% vs VISA 18% plus and the bank says

NO. You have outstanding credit on VISA. On the Amex card used for the same purpose paid off every 40 days or so and kept up with NO balance ever..they

go sure and you get your 8.9% sig loan to get you out of the hole. This gold Amex card is the only credit card I have (besides the usual bank debit card visa folk

get now from banks) Had it like 27 years...works slick. So if you do have regular credit cards, cut them up as I did and pay them off like a regular loan and use

the Amex card...but knowing you can't cheat on it is a big deal..keeps you honest as you hack down and out of your traditional credit cards. Amex does have

blue and other cards that act JUST LIKE VISA. IT IS ONLY the Green and Gold Amex cards that are a holdover to the past that does this yet.

anyway, just an FYI on having a credit card and emergency fund in one place w/o the danger of going 'hell with it' and adding to credit card debt after too many beers! Smiley

It is kinda a 'cheat' but keeps me honest, knowing this in the back of my mind, keeps me in check.

Never bothered to change after I paid off my other credit card debt, it is how I roll now. Smiley

2057  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your plan for the next world wide recession. Are you planning on such? on: September 19, 2018, 09:08:36 PM
Interesting poll, but I couldn't choose a single answer mainly because I have a mix of everything.

I have reduced my debt to zero (paid off all loans and don't owe a single penny to anybody now). I have accumulated enough fiat to retire so I have minimal risk in case my income reduces in the future. Not to mention I have ample crypto in cold storage and continue to accumulate more by trading / investing.

I'm doing the same. Was gonna just live off liquidation of altcoins but at these prices may be a year short of my goal of 66 years and full retirement soc security etc...I have

2.5 years to go, retired Jan 14th, 2018 when BTC and Altcoins were high *guess I broke the works*. So probably will have to tap into Bitcoin Hoard at year 65 a year early

at this rate. One good thing is next year is the last year to spend crypto on Health Insurance ($12,800 per year for only Silver Plan available...because of mining income

that is without any subsidy). Anyway, when you turn 65 years in the USA, you can get Medicare/Medicaid (not sure proper term for retired), so that will help a bunch.

I'm figuring as I said on a recession and just taking all my traditional investments, no debt, and reducing crypto and all the stuff by 1/2. As a result, I made 35k before

working with the dev disabled before I retired, I easily can make 35K in these next 2.5 years in full retirement, even if BTC tanks more, then at 66 years w/o the social

security figured in again $35k (47.5k or so after soc sec check). Thus, the only risk is to my ego if it all goes 'tulips' and BTC and crypto are 'worthless'. Again this is with

crypto/traditional stocks/staying out of debt all cut in half. (Fun fact about the USA, that can change quickly and go to NEGATIVE NUMBERS OF $$$ IN A HEARTBEAT, IF YOU

HAVE SUDDEN MEDICAL PROBLEMS, THUS AQUIRE DEBT! (knock wood I stay healthy, that will be my only debt concern and/or a depression could shoot the works as well.

I'm just a happy 'ray of sunshine' in this post, huh?

Angle, you always need an angle. Also, if I'm wrong and we have another boom in the economy to compensate for the 7-10 years of the crash that drag'd us down,

I"m still golden, for being incorrect. But again, I kinda doubt it and betting on a 40% correction and ugly recession at least, IMHO.

Always, best to cover your butt. (too bad I did not think that with my 'moon fairy dust/unicorn and pixie fart view' when BTC was 18k or so. (sigh) Smiley

Again, only do crypto with what you can afford, and 'desensitize' your ego. Bitcoin is an 'evil wench' and likes to mess with your mind on WTF is actually going on.

I have been investing in Siacoin for almost a year and mining SC since the beginning of this year.
I wish Siacoin all the best.
I support whatever it takes the Devs team and community to make the Sia project better.
BTW, I just sadly realized that my JR member has been demoted and I am a "newbie" member again...
Can anyone in this thread help me?  It would be greatly appreciated...

Did someone hack your previous account? If so the only way to get it back is if you had saved your BTC address on the profile and then send the devs

a msg via private msg to prove you own that BTC address...then they can give it back. (or at least that is how it worked years ago). A blank paper wallet

on the profile with access to the private key for such purposes works just fine also. Stuff it in a book, someplace, just in case or simply copy-paste the

info on the empty wallet somewhere you can get at also.

As to your current problem, if you were demoted to a newbie because of a hack, and did not do above, you are out of luck.

Let us know if you have been demoted for another reason I"m not aware of..if for no reason contact a Moderator and ask...

could be a bug I guess

brad

Thanks so much for asking.
I just realized that there is a new rule in place,  senwhich requires at least 1 merit to be a Jr Member. All existing Jr Members who didn't meet the requirement were demoted.
The following is the post stating the new rule:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5030366.0

To be honest, I really do not believe that I am a "newbie" to Bitcoin or Blockchain technology and I never spam in this forum at all.

sent you some merit and a PM...did not seem to do any good Sad

you may have to research this more.

Don't forget. Garlicoin was recently integrated onto the the Switchain Instant Platform.

We have just launched our affiliate program as well!

has to have dev involvement and use...once the GPU's stop mining garlicoin (soon) with the new algo ..they will be screwed...not like an ASIC will be made to mine their algo

I suppose at that point they will go POS coin or something

just saying they should have stayed scrypt N ....fujicoin is scrypt n and kicking their ass lol Smiley

Not impressed, dead project IMHO. They are simply moving the deck chairs around on the Titanic. An affiliate program is of little use with no vision on the devs part

nor development.
