Bitmain

the L3+ is $54 now. I suppose some of this is because the whole unit is likely under the 25% tariff and of course I think it is? 2.6% import fee on top of that.

Bitmain now has to account for that add on to the price and of course, their shipping has also gone up as well...

But again, all those $100 coupons that can't be used on any Bitmain item if the coupon is more than 50% of the value.

scrypt-pow mining is a mess and development for LTC is a mess due to no real development happening of note, IMHO...

the worst of both worlds now reflected in price Sad

bitmain: evil is as evil does  (tm bitmain)

how long is the 'other top 101 ban' going to last? till you get them below 50% of forging... I know you have a bonus not for not voting

for the other delegates in elite pool and etc, till they mend their ways or whatever it takes.

curious

Is there a medium article or some kind of detailed info about the hardfork that we can see. I heard that there was a sliding scale for ratios of SC distribution after the hardfork but cant find any definative info.

The real question is ..do I mine like hell now with my previously 5 doorstop obelisk sc-1's to Siacoin or to BTC?

That is a crap load of siacoin out in the world that those 4/5ths of other equipment (now can't mine siacoin) they may be in HODL state..previously but.now wanting to

dump to get ROI and any losses for a positive ledger on their now *obsolete equipment*

without any information on the 'supposed' network for cloud storage and progress by sia-tech, I'm guessing the best bet is just mine and convert to BTC to

be safe. But conflicted...

what are the rest of you thinking on this fork cluster***k?

1944  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ALLMINE INC - FPGA Cryptominer on: October 31, 2018, 05:40:41 PM
those of you that have these

are you actually managing to mine any obscure coin and move to ROI or is that a non-issue now...in that you are still

trying to tweak/develop card or firmware etc?

just curious if the $3.5k USD bet has at least started to pay back for those who have a card

thanks

1945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Hyperspace - Distributed Storage App (Sia Fork) on: October 31, 2018, 05:38:52 PM
Yes I agree so many cheap A3 - and so many useless now.

I am looking for this S11, or maybe a B52 miner, 5x more hashrate for same power, don't hink twice

still can't see it working to buy one for those..if you have one of those...maybe..but now...naw....best to just hold your coin of choice on a pump in price

on crytpo and btc or we are all doomed to failure in the next 6-8 months of anything we do. Trade/hodl or mine. Sad

1946  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: October 31, 2018, 05:31:19 PM
oops.double quoted was gonna delete this post and can't

hmmm......

well as an aside, any 'hope' or fixes by obelisk for the obelisk dcr1 decred miners?

(doubtful, but I have this blank post I can't delete...so I may as well kick this beehive as well)
of
I have ONE coming free (no shipping to data hall) for swap'ing 1/2 off coupons from my 'dubious' 5 siacoin miners I got that may and I say may...of course the sia obelisk

sc 1 miners MAY....

NOT BE DOORSTOPS AFTER A WHAT IS IT 1.5 MONTHS AS DOORSTOPS Smiley GASP! Tomorrow, November 1st 2018!

My one FREE decred miner ...er...not so much.... Sad

Anyway, still think it is beyond amusing that I got this unit free (hey its a paperweight, better than the 5 coupons) it is the 2nd batch..so by the time I get

it even free, I can't make any $$$ ...weird as hell huh? Smiley,

anyway, will try to remember I can't delete posts on this board for a day or so

anyway...could be worse for you guys who ONLY got sia sc1 units....indeed!

RIP to the overload of SIA miners that have been dumping daily - killing the SIA price and destroying our supporting miners. NO MORE - it stops NOW. Finally.

Miners that give a #@#$%@ about SIA and community are back in control.

Check out all of the daily miner SIA dumps happening for the last time today ... Good riddance to all of you and may the door hit you on the way out! So long Jihan and Bitmain crew that has rekt SIA's pricing support for far too long.

Also, SIA > USD --- This is really big news, Don't see the other coins/tokens getting USD support at POLO & Bittrex.

Something brewing with SIA, the infrastructure occurring on exchanges is incredible.

That in my view will only (unfortunately) last 2-3 months. It will be a fairly easy fix to any new ASIC's to do the forked siacoin. In Bitmain's case it usually takes

them 1.5 months to mask chips and 1.5 months to get them into the world. This is very temporary. Innsilicon/Baikal/Bitmain will have a monster miner out

at the lastest in 3-4 months IMHO.

The only chance this MAY not happen is if the price of BTC and other Altcoins are sideways in price or drop further...thus not making it worth their while

to make these units...But betting against that cuts my neck in my hoard value of altcoins and BTC so I have a problem looking at this in that manner indeed!

whatever. Chump or Champ. We will be the first to know Sad

Hang in there my friend! Smiley

There is no 'fix' for adding circuitry/hardware to existing Asic miners. The changes made would require redesign, which Bitmain LOST their lead Asic designer some time ago - if anyone missed - this large event majorly offset their IPO plans and halted productions. Jihan has pissed off the majority of the few remaining workable asic prod facilities, in kind they contractually refuse further design agrmnts.
Bitmain is unlikely to rollout any new hardware designs as the setup process can take 6+ months before prod of any unit begins. Also requires large initial $cash$ sttlmnt - millions - Jihan admitted these setbacks with Bitmain as documents/evidence surfaced during the first IPO attempt (many details became public).

Bitmain cannot easily fix this, nor can they quickly/easily reproduce the single required Asic for mining SIA.

Other mining hardware manuf face these same hardware redesign challenges - this is not a quick fix , time + severe costs.

No worries, The obvious deterrent here is sufficient to secure SIA mining in the future.

SIA would not have made this move if it was a simple quick step to change for other mining hardware. Alot more to this.

And now, we see the final last of the daily miner dumps happening up until the fork later today. Take note of this.

*Don't forget Bittrex USD>SIA added for easy 'On-ramp' (Institutional? Coinbase add? Huh)
Anyone else opinion as to why Sia was selected from the 300+ Coins listed on Bittrex for USD?

I certainly hope you are correct. My other major concern is their vision of a decentralized anonymous network at 10c to Amazon Cloud's $1 in fees.

Any idea how likely that is to 'fly' in the near future? Without that siacoin is deader than dead IMHO. But all I've been hearing is that the interface

sucks and it does not pay to setup a cube anymore to provide storage (the other leg in this 3 legged stool with price and asics and of course this network vision)

[....]
and if you hold sia's for longer time don't forget to claim your hyperspace coin, as that fork already happened

what is that exactly?
I have not heard of it yet.
I have been hold Siacoin since January 2018. Can I still do something there?

Yes - Check out Hyperspace links here:

Alas, I got a bitmain unit B3 for $50 on eBay for 'shelf art' ..it included shipping. After taking it off as 25% off equip for taxes..I have a big $37.50 invested

in this. Alas, someone mentioned this would make 90c a day. Or say maybe $30 a month. the electric cost is $90 a month ...oops..back to shelf art. heh....

I also got a Bitmain V9 BTC miner for the same cost above...you guessed it 'bookends' Smiley

1949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: October 31, 2018, 04:48:12 AM
yes you are right litecoin is mature project and not gonna give you huge numbers of growth but there is one more thing and that it is having very less chances of loss and other project who are not mature yet having more chances of investment loss then this so
first top 10 crypto having a very less chances of invested money loss
In reality, more than matured, Litecoin is one of the best crypto projects, and has been ranked at the top on CMC.
Bitcoin is Gold, and Litecoin is Silver; this one is a classic sentence on the intrinsic value of Litecoin.

Ah...there is the rub..that WAS true..but every trader and newbie I've talked to now thinks Bitcoin Cash is Silver to Bitcoin's Gold.

I don't like this. But it is getting hard to refute with the price of BCH compared to LTC and the decline to below last years prices for LTC.

The devs of LTC need to step up some innovation...get the debit card back..something...to stem the tide and show some promise again for this coin.

IMHO. Of course.

damn lot of hats on this thread...

why are we doing this exactly?

(fell into a frigging hat cult me thinks) Smiley

1951  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 30, 2018, 04:10:30 AM
In other events, it looks like we may get to see how well bitcoin weathers a proper bear market in equities, for the first time.

What is your point?

Is the stock market and PMs expected to go down in the coming weeks/months?

Are you referring to any other assets, or currencies?

You are contemplating whether BTC is going to be correlated or not?  And, BTC along side with the performance of other cryptos?

Maybe in the short term all assets and currencies go down together?

It's looking more and more like the stock market is tanking. Today steered me onto the bearish side.

And yes, I'm curious how correlated bitcoin and the other markets may be.

Depends if folk are trading or buying and or buying and/or hodl'ing BTC with discretionary money or if they are treating it like GOLD as a hedge against bad times...

If it is just being held up by surplus cash, we are gonna be in a world of hurt, IF the stock market goes south, IMHO.

Not saying either is so.

We will see Chump or Champ I guess

Well...

Oct 30th, 2017 LTC was $54.90 on www.worldcoinindex.com

Oct 29th, 2018 LTC is as of 2 hrs short of 1 year exactly $49.06.

Guess I should have not held on to the remaining LTC I have now huh?

Missed selling anywhere in the bubble of the last year. It is like 2017 never happened!

(2017 did not happen, tell yourself)

Back to Basics.

How goes the decentralized anonymous cloud storage network that siatech wants to make and compete with Amazon Cloud at 10c to the $1 at Amazon Cloud rates?

1) Can you build a rig that will make a profit on cloud storage under siatech yet?

2) How is the interface for the user, or does it still suck?

3) Any other comments on the projects progress

Any siacoin of any fork...sia obelisk fork or sia classic fork or whatever will all eventually depend on this vision being successful. Otherwise siacoin of any flavor

is all 'smoke and mirrors' and will be essentially worthless.

The Hat-ism in this thread is repugnant.

We're trying to play the larger game, here, as I believe someone else stated.

We can't have moon until we have full cap-itulation... or something.

Don't mind me. I just sit here, HODL Bitcorn, wear this hat, doing my part to stay strong until the next orbital cycle.

Recommendation for upgrading your Fujicoin Core

· The latest version is v0.16.3.
https://www.fujicoin.org/downloads.php

There is a vulnerability against 51% attack on v0.15.x and earlier versions.
Major mining pools and all exchanges and wallet services have been taken countermeasures.
So the current Fujicoin main net is resistant to 51% attack.
However, individual users using older versions may be affected by attacks.

There is a Denial of Service component and a critical inflation vulnerability in versions prior to v0.16.1.
https://bitcoincore.org/en/2018/09/20/notice/

We recommend upgrading to v0.16.3 to those who use the old version.  Smiley

Note: Old version of above is the only wallet that allows you to import paper wallets at this time...just so you know and don't waste time

trying with the others. FYI.

yeah...I miss the days when BTC was around 18k and I'd get a 'bitcoin woody' ..sigh.....

25k and this forum will be filled with " which bitcoin to buy" or "should I buy now" threads.

This day in history:  27 October 2014.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.186220

Including this humdinger:

I got out a while back. A sold my coins a bit above 400 to some poor guy.

hahahahahaha

Shroomskit.. what a whiner!!!!  He whined a long time, continuously, and did not have much to contribute beyond the entertainment of his various whinings (even less substance than Rosewater, believe it or not.. hahahahha), and if I recall, he was even correct and profitable for a short period with his couple of rage quits, until he wasn't.

Fairly common theme of the "I told you so, and I sold my BTC at a higher price than the current price" and then those folks don't buy back in but continue to assert that they got out at a profit.. blah blah blah...   surely variations of "getting roached."

ah...October 27h 2014...so young....barely past 1 year being a 'newbie' ...I miss those days when I was under the illusion that I had all this crypto and bitcoin stuff figured out

sheesh...I was one lame newbie.... Smiley

(damn...I'm embarrassed...to even think about this) Sad

1958  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: October 27, 2018, 02:14:29 AM
which wallet will support Sia Classic after the fork?

for SC we have to upgrade to the last one, I got that, will Sia Classic use some of the earlier SC version of the wallet or they bill make their own new wallet (UI)?

A Sia Classic would need to build their own wallet, but don't expect much value from such coins for years if ever.

The SIA Classic is going to suffer to gain traction and community support IMO, what is drivig people now is greed, why do we need another chain when the community decided this is what we want, community support is very strong for SIA and I don't think anyone would like to trade his/her SIA coins for SIA Classic.

just thinking that lot of ppl have a bitmain miner for sia... i don't think they will put it in a trash or like something ornamental lol siaclassic will born and who knows... but i think that battle are good to have a winner... btc and bitcoin cash for example...i mean it's good to push dev to work and deliver new stuff... it's a good free marketing and we will earn some free coins Smiley and in a bull market it is always good a pattern like this Smiley

I agree (sorry to say) that they will NOT (at least right away) turn off 4/5 of the blake2b miners just because siatech forked siacoin to obelisk only...it may not work...but they will

take a shot (unfortunately) on siacoin classic and continue the old fork or even start a new blake2b coin from a difficulty of zero and a start date. This may not work, but it will happen

(again, sorry to say)

When is the next payout on this campaign? Did it change to monthly or something and I missed the memo?

thanks

It's whenever Lutpin gets around to it I think, he's probably running a few too many campaigns, I think he's having trouble with keeping up with all the post counts.

What I figured, but wanted to clarify in case the method/date or it went monthly or something Smiley
