301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: April 25, 2016, 09:43:42 PM
they claimed to be the successor of ethereum but they never created the code to handle the amount of transactions a successor to eth would. did they not believe in their coin. amazing imagine if people knew this before this would be a whole different story. i predict more errors after launch code is unfinished and done quickly release it next year check it thoroughly

"They" never claimed such a thing. Quite the opposite. (or do you wanna provide some quotes?)
Others claimed all sort of things pro and con, but what can the devs any dev can do about community posts?
This is crypto ppl run their mouth out of ignorance, hidden agenda, for fun or just boredom.

one question, where the hell is the dev/are the devs with some answers?
what are the questions?
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: April 25, 2016, 08:52:56 PM
yeah, I'm feeling dumb too now :/
We invested $5.9M into this ...  really frightening to say the least
Much more were invested into much less on countless times in history.

Crypti code is solid, writing something like this would take at least a year. Its much quicker to improve upon it. The code is much better already after a few weeks and database change will be a major improvement, with various others coming. After the launch with more developers progress will be even faster.

This is the difference between a clone and a fork. Clone takes no time, but its basically worthless, a fork is thriving for something better.
Software development takes time. If they would just cloned crypti it could have been released the day after the ICO ended.

Lets have some patients, we all be better off for it.

As a programmer i know that one month delay is still pretty good and i'm not even mad. It's really good that they find a hole and can fix it, because it will be terrible to find this after release. What i don't understand is why the hell they want to use SQLlite anyway ? It got terrible performance in higher number of inserts and updates. PostgreSQL will be much better choice.
Crypti was (is) using SQLite, as a fork Lisk is using it also, the code is result of a 2 year development. But it was never really stress tested, with little interest from the community. As the test net was set up for lisk and hundreds of potential delegates started running nodes, sending transactions, testing stuff, it turned out that the current code can't handle the amount of transactions Lisk can expect after launch, not even with the optimalization and bug fixes Oliver made to the original crypti code since the fork.
As a temporary solution the transaction number per block was limited (in 0.1.4) and Lisk could've been released like that, and implement better solution later,  but I guess they decided that delaying a few weeks to make the improvements are better than releasing Lisk with such limitations. (not to mention other fixes are also needed)

When you follow delevelopment and testnet events, its really not a mystery, and quite clear what lead to this decision, even when they try to make statements only about facts and not hint, speculate and otherwise fuel the fires of gossip.

This is why these scam accusations and conspiracy theories about playing (expected) bitcoin bubble, planning around Wave ico and other stuff are clear nonsense for anyone who is really following the happenings of lisk. Everyting that happend so far had a natural progression to it, that anyone can see (hundreds of ppl) who are active on the testnet, chat, and Lisk forum.

much after launch after all these screamers want to dump out and move on, to say some gravity waves crap  Roll Eyes Huh
If all screamers dump, that would make around 5-10 BTC volume.

I yet to see someone with significant investment (or money in their pocket for that matter) screaming baseless accusations in a thread.
Only when you have much more time than money do you waste it on writing idiotic posts.
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XCR] Crypti | Dapps | Sidechains | Dapp Store | OPEN SOURCE | 100% own code | DPoS on: April 25, 2016, 11:04:47 AM
It's dead when it's dead, currently it isn't.
No, it's dead, unless someone releases a new version with bug fixes.

Anyone who were paying attention to Lisk development can kill Crypti within a few minutes, very, very easily.
If that happens I'm not sure anyone will bother with bringing the nodes back online again.

Thatīs another story. So theres no way to abandon the ship.
False analogy, if this were a ship, the other passengers would've tossed you off board long ago.

First, disclaimer:
Please know, that I don't have any insider information, or precognitive ability. What I have are deductive reasoning skills, something that most people seem to lack around here.

So here it is:
I think at this point it's more than likely that launch will be around early may.

Why? Today is the 24th, they haven't announced the launch date yet. The reason for this is pretty evident:
- Max won't announce until they can be very sure that the date is fixed
- Oliver has been working on a significant update this week, but it's not done yet
- the launch won't happen until this update happens and it's tested

Even if Oliver releases it today, delegates need to update. Then stress test the network, receive feedback, etc. This takes two days minimum and that's rushing it. Ideally this is a 3-4 days process.

So even if this works perfectly, we are very close to the end of april, and I assume there is tons of other stuff has to be done before launch.

And that is the best case scenario, you know, the one that never happens. It would mean that Oliver is done with the coding today. That the code is working perfectly, there is no need for bug fixing, there are no unforseen events.

So I guess you just have to accept that software development is not done by magic and it takes time, a few extra days are nothing in things like this.

Or you know, alternatively you could do what I know you are going to do. Scream, cry, shout, accuse, curse and whine. (and that is just our legendary investor Wolf Rainer, I'm sure others will have reactions too)
310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: April 23, 2016, 07:22:11 PM

Yes,sorry.
thanks, i mean, this platform is 100% working at launch,or not?
Hope they dont' say that platform is not ready and it comes soon in future.
Yes it is fully working.
Anyone can use the testnet to try it, or even create their own testnet.

There is much work to be done however. Oliver is working a lot (I assume Smiley ), but after ICO funds been released Lisk will need more core devs for sure. Crypti devs made a fine code, but from what I seen Crypti code would not be able to handle the amount of transactions and attention Lisk is going to get. Oliver is workin so Lisk code can. and it will.
311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: April 23, 2016, 07:15:54 PM
Someone reading this thread in the last few weeks may not think much of the Lisk community, as most who wanted to have serious discussions are somewhat abandonded this place (me included).

While ppl here talk about moon, scam, wave, etc, others who want to run delegates are forming a community, helping each other, discussing technical details, creating guides, tutorials, monitoring and other tools, scripts, server setups, some making great suggestions about Lisk code on github, analyzing logs, trying to plan to maximize delegate uptimes.Making plans with various contingencies, making and testing nodes and backup nodes, thinking about ddos protections and other possible ways to help the network during a possible attack.
You can't ask a technical question in the chat and not get an answer no matter the hours of the day.

People are forming a community, one that will determine the future of Lisk. Some may do it for hope of a profit, but they are doing it, and this is good, very good for lisk. This effort will be the backbone of the future of Lisk, not just the tecnhological but the social. Developers getting interested, several people are planning or already actively developting various apps to run on the Lisk side-chains.

Meanwhile Oliver is making serious changes to the Lisk code based on experience on the test net. These changes will make a more successful launch, with better security, more stable and faster Lisk. This is more than worth the wait, unless you are only waiting for the genesis block to sell your Lisk as fast as possible.

TL;DR If you just look at this thread once a week and don't see any progress, it doesn't mean that nothing is happening.

Is fully working or it cames out without dapp?
You don't seem to understand, that its not the Lisk devs role to come up with dapps. They need to provide a platform, that others can build dapps on.
313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: April 12, 2016, 05:19:25 PM
I just released a new version of my Lisk Delegate Monitor for Windows.

It's a tool for keeping an eye on your delegate. If you are not running one it won't do you much, but I'll planning you make something similar for the regular Lisk users. With account monitoring and stuff, we'll see.

In the grand scheme of things an extra couple weeks isn't that long. Plus, waiting a few weeks will draw more excitement which is good for Lisk. I know it's easier said than done, that's why i have gone and prepped a few bottles of wine to get me through until launch  Cheesy Cheesy
How was that a reply to my post? I have not mentioned launch.
315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: April 08, 2016, 09:48:45 PM
Argh. Enforced BIP39.
Max we talked about this. Smiley
But seriously, this is not the first time that you go to great lengths to protect people from their own stupidity.

Which is nice, but for the competent ones you're making a hurdle.
How about a switch on the wallet (I'm not an idiot!) to disable this? Smiley

Eh, nevermind me just bitching. There is always the API.

I don't think anyone would mind a lower inflation rate as it only dilutes their shares without it being needed to maintain security. In addition, the rates in the years after could be adjusted to reach the same average inflation.
It doesn't matter, modifying any terms after is not okay. There lies a slippery slope.
317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: April 08, 2016, 02:42:31 PM
Imo, the rates should be looked at again. Especially with the high valuation in the ico and the potential huge premium over ico price in the coming months, the 5 Lisk is way too much.
True, this (and really all figures, and a bunch of other stuff) were set expecting a much lower initial market cap.
So from this standpoint block rewards could and should be adjusted along with fees.
But on the other side, it would be a serious one sided modification of ICO terms. People invested (pardon, donated) money expecting 15% inflation in the first year. Changing this is more than a little dicey. I don't think they could or should do that.

9:16 AM I’ve created a 1:1 LISK IOU asset on the NXT AE starting at 100 NXT/ LISK, the asset ID is 14738107721483067493LISK currently trades for 290 NXT/ LISK on yobit exchange. I am currently a member of NXTinspect (reputation), NEXT (trading) and WAVES (2.0 crypto platform).

Well... that's not unexpected:

This is an interesting development.
Similar things can and did also happen on the NXT asset exchange before. I could create an asset right now, say Lisktoken, and presto people can buy lisk from me (and after that trade normally from there). The only thing I had to do for it to be workable is a garantee that I'll make good on my IOU. So let's say I create the asset with 1 000 000 tokens, thats 1 million Lisk. If I put 1 million lisk worth of bitcoin (with some safety markings, lets say 10 times ICO price) into escrow with the promise that I'll exchange the tokens for real Lisk withing a week after launch.

319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: April 06, 2016, 04:29:28 PM
Do you think they are doing it with approval from LISK devs?
Nobody has to (or did) approve anything. Yobit can do as they like, as long as they have their customers trust that they will make good on the IOU.
They could trade tickets to a space elevator if they want.
320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: April 06, 2016, 04:16:10 PM
This is an interesting development.
Much depend on how much LISKIOU will gets sold until launch, at what avarage price.
And we will never know of course, because there is no way Yobit don't inflate the volume.

But let's not get crazy, this is not unprecedented, it happend to other coins in some form.
As it happens Crypti was also traded before launch, at bter. They assisted with the ICO, and allowed trading the ICO tokens before switching to the real think after launch.
