301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ARK - DPoS with Dynamic Fees 🔹 New CORE v2🔹 ARK Deployer 🔹 on: August 11, 2019, 07:10:27 AM
By asking them to manipulate the price, you mean that you want them to spend their development budget to buy up more of their own coin, centralizing it in the process so that you and some other "investors" can sell their ARK at a higher price, right?

Then the price would fall again, ARK team wouldn't have enough development budget, the projected would die.

Is that what you're asking? Is this what an investor wants or maybe what a short-term moon-boy wants?

I would consider myself a real investor and what I want is for ARK to finish their product, start big collaborations and have many apps and games built on it. Then, I can feed from the fee profits on these services.

Not that you are wrong for preferring coin development over manipulation, but it just struck me how the entire US stock market works exactly the way the other fellow suggested. Companies are constantly buying back their own stock.

Some of the coins now being crushed by BTC may have to resort to a 'stock buyback' so to speak, if they hope to survive to see another altseason, that is. I wouldn't view it as short term moon-boy stuff, it's more like an issue of coin survival.

You have a good point, but I believe stocks might be a different case and they can't be compared to altcoins.

For example if a US company doesn't keep their investors happy and they sell its stocks, their stock price will fall and so will their buying power since the company could sell some stocks in order to invest in development or make a deal.

But when an altcoin company holds part of their budget in other currencies other than their own, then they don't have to immediately worry about their own token's price.

For example if a company holds enough money in BTC and USD to last 3 years without extra financing, then they can focus on development and not bother with their token's price for 3 whole years.
Heck, it might be even better for them to allow the price to fall, it'll become easier for them to do a 1000% like pump when they decide "now we're ready to focus on investors, let's buy our cheap tokens"!

I'm disappointed, I came here expecting ♨️ (hot springs) and there's none! Tongue

Amd if your transactions were going through immediately and now they are not, I would be careful with this service. Better not manage big amounts.
303  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you think about Gambling and e-sports? on: August 10, 2019, 06:45:57 AM
Sports or eSports don't have any actual difference.
In Sports the athletes train their bodies, in eSports they train their brain (and fingers! Cheesy)

Other than that, the same principles exist in both, so betting on either is the same.

4. Avoid accumulators, sometimes these are good but if you in it for the money avoid them! I know many will say if you don't risk it you won't win or say something like "go big or go home" but honestly think about it , you place an accumulator with 3 games and 2 games with big odds of 5 and 7 odds go through and you are left with the multiplier of 1.2 odds which goes on to lose Huh I guess you get my logic

Actually, to be honest, I don't get the logic, sorry! I don't really bet on casino games so this might be the reason why I didn't understand. Roll Eyes
So... What is an "accumulator"?

GRIN - Bringing anonymity to transactions AND network hashrate until 2019! Grin
Maybe some charts are showing the hashrate of a specific pool and others the hashrate of the overall network?

I'm not sure if your site is down if my firewall is blocking it... why would it block it though when I don't have any issue with other similar sites?
I wanted to check your site and make sure, but from what I understand by reading here you have a wide variety of services huh? I see from eSports to fighting games!
308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Grin | PoW Mining | Electronic transactions for all. Community driven. on: August 09, 2019, 06:47:36 AM
@Febo. Agreed, however the miners might be speculating something optimistic to occur hehehe.

@RivAngE. As Febo showed, the hashrate has increased 3x in the last 3 weeks. There might be more GPU mining farms transferring from other cryptocoins to Grin.

Which would seem weird, seeing how GRIN is not that profitable so why would they come over to GRIN?
But the coins they come from might have been taken over by ASICs and FPGAs, so for whatever reason they're forced to stick with GRIN regardless of profitability.

I guess they have "free" power... Roll Eyes
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Grin | PoW Mining | Electronic transactions for all. Community driven. on: August 08, 2019, 04:56:33 PM
I'm a bit confused here, did the profitability fell dramatically just because of the low coin price or has ASIC miners started being used?
But it seems c29 is less profitable that c31, however c31 is the ASIC friendly algorithm and c29 should't be more profitable with my GPU if ASICs are introduced.

So, how comes c29 is so much less profitable than c31 right now? What have I missed?
310  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why Choose Lottery Instead Of Anything Else? on: August 08, 2019, 07:15:22 AM
Lottery even gives better opportunity to have other investments because in most cases the money for lottery is usually very small compared to other types of gambling’s that takes more money.
you mean the tickets cost less compare to other games ?  the standard lottery ticket on our place is at .50 usd but there are also different lottery games and the tickets can cost higher . on the other hand there are also gambling games that you can bet cheaper than that .

Quote
Its true that the chances of winning in lottery can be slim but when lucky to win, its as well always huge so I consider it worthy to play and I believe this is the reason so many players choose lottery as well.
you said that winning on a lottery is hard so why would people chose it ? they could rather play more on winnable games  .

there are tons of different casino games and gambling games that we can play out there and they are more fun than a plain lotto so why not try them ?

It seems that we're living in a sad world where many people (after all) are thinking how spending a penny today could make them a fortune TOMORROW!
The fact that they'll have spent thousands of $/€ in just one year and it's still 5000 times more likely that they'd be hit by a lighting eludes them...

I was looking forward to the AMA with Michel, but some clown banned me from Ark slack.  Roll Eyes

That's sucks! The reason I will never participate in any Slack, Reddit, manual edit thread or thing like that for any crypto. If they're not liking you or your idea then they would just kick you out and ban.

Yes ARK is too centralized.  Which is ironic because they  like to preach against centralization. TBH I can be a bit abrasive though.

You were banned for a reason and I fully support the moderators for doing so. (personally i believe you should have been banned years ago with all of your constant rule breaking/bending, harassment, lies, bashing of community members, bashing of team members and constant fudding.)

All those things are called "decentralization" from people like him!
Being able to troll and make fun of other people's rights is considered their "right"!

Personally, I'd call it anarchy and not decentralization.

The predictable never ending of bleeding, there is no point to HODL

Okay, goodbye forever..... See you in 2 days! Tongue

And why would you hold in the first place if it was predictable as you said? Huh Personally I hold because I see value here but if you don't... why do you hold?
313  Economy / Gambling / Re: How is the best way to go against an online casino? on: August 06, 2019, 08:59:01 AM
Are you sure you're not confusing 30 BTC for 30 Satoshis?

Its obvious you're lying, you write in a very calm tone for someone who has lost 30 BTC and you don't provide any significant information like for which country you're speaking or which site.
What I don't understand is WHY you're posting this bullshit, just pumping your post count??

311 pages and counting, trully one of the oldest sites of this industry and going strong!
I wonder what will the future bring.

If the projects were being valued by developement progress, ARK would be on the top 10 if not the top 5.
Especially based on GitHub, I haven't anything like you guys other than Bitcoin and Ethereum!

I believe you'll be ready to take the lead on this technology on the next rush-on-crypto that will bring in companies and inovators.
In the mean time, moon-boys can keep selling their coins for pennies... what can I say...
316  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why Choose Lottery Instead Of Anything Else? on: August 06, 2019, 06:52:39 AM
Not all lotteries are as you describe. The two popular ones i know in crypto give you precisely the statistical odds of winning as your # of tickets. These are freebitco.in and crypto-games.net it's just a prize pool split completely with the winners.

In the former tickets are even free, in the latter edge is 0.

Now of course I know the ones you are referring to. But you see, we're talking about the chance to win millions for a low initial outlay.

Even at dice, with a max payout at most places around 10,000x, 1 dollar gets you 10k.

I buy those million dollar payout lotteries too, knowing very well the odds are insanely stacked.

But hey, that's still a shade better than 0 chance if I don't buy it. Also, I quit smoking. I now spend a fifth of my savings from that habit on the lottery haha...

I suppose there are provably fair lotteries too, where you know the exact chances of winning, that's a bit better than having to calculate the chances yourself and depend on some numbered balls, but the chance are always higher with games that require some skills.... as long as you have the skills that is! Cheesy

Do you love to drive cars without insurance or do you prefer to drive cars with insurance?

Between driving a car with an insurance from a company that will do nothing when I need them and driving a car without insurance, I prefer to drive without insurance and keep my money.
If I want to waste my money, there are shreders, I can drop them there and have the same effect as paying you to "insure" me.
318  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why Choose Lottery Instead Of Anything Else? on: August 04, 2019, 03:54:10 PM
So I guess the main reason is greed... people want to invest as little as possible and get as much as possible in the shortest possible time... that's kinda discusting!
Put some freaking effort damn it! No wonder that even people who win a lottery won't become more happy, their whole mindset is wrong and they should work on that first instead of thinking money will solve all their problems.
319  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM: Bitcoin SV (BSV) - fake team member and plagiarized white paper on: August 04, 2019, 10:14:09 AM
https://blog.moneybutton.com/2019/07/29/towards-scalable-wallet-infrastructure/

Money button, one of the few BSV services out there, had their own node crashed.

They also state that in future they won't be able to afford to run a node.

Way to go.

I like that their reason is this...
"Running a node is expensive.
Our new instance will cost thousands of dollars per month to operate. As blocks continue to get larger and we have to upgrade the instance many times, this cost will balloon."

This Craig-guy proves himself so incompetent and clueless, it turns my previous thinking of "he might have helped a bit in coding the original BTC" to "he might have been making coffee for the original BTC developers".

For those not understanding why increasing the block size is stupid, read the section "Why increasing the block size is problematic for full nodes" in this article,

320  Economy / Gambling discussion / Why Choose Lottery Instead Of Anything Else? on: August 04, 2019, 10:00:38 AM
So I've been wondering a lot time now why some people choose to play lottery which is made in such a way that it's statistically impossible to win and not any other game that gives about 49% chance to win? In online crypto-gambling there are a lot of such services.

Personally I'd advice against gambling overall (ye I know I wear a gambling signature at the moment!) but if someone insists on playing something without thinking or using skills, then why not buy a random stock? That'd give them 50% chance to win and with some research they could increase this chance.

I found this nice video a day ago, it tells the truth about lotteries in a funny way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PSWTDhHGt4

A very good point is made at 2:55 about the probabilities
Also at 4:07 they lottery in comparison with gambling and stock market in a funny way... "we take away all the skill of blackjack or poker just to make sure we have the best chance of getting your money"! Cheesy
