301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any advice for altcoin day trading? on: May 11, 2017, 05:33:14 AM
Try to invest a big amount in trading you well get a high profit and income small investment in trading is not worth for a full time work also try holder your altcoins in years it will give u a big amount but not easy to do and also risky at a time.
dreadful advice. Bitcoin is already a risky prospect, altcoins are a step further removed.
You are investing your actual money at the end of the day.  Are you happy to give your money to scammers or pump and dumpers?

Don't invest more than you can afford to lose, move in and out of bitcoin depending on price. Don't be afraid to trade out for a loss, instead of holding for a bigger loss!
302  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: *** BitcoinCommodities - FREE US SHIPPING and LOWER PRICES *** on: May 10, 2017, 06:19:03 AM
I was a bit surprised by the lack of a thread about Bitcoincommodities, given that they are backed by / related to Bitcoin.de.
The prices are fairly reasonable, above the fiat seller prices, but much better than Bitgild.

I made an order yesterday and have received a few updates since then.  I am looking forward to my delivery and will post to say how everything goes.
It is a bit scary sending fairly large amounts of money to small Bitcoin businesses online, but Bitcoincommodities seem legit.
303  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Paying TAX on: May 09, 2017, 09:49:49 AM
Of course you can always lie to the IRS and pay less in taxes than you should according to their regulations.

If you do not get caught then all is well - you are a winner!

If you get caught then you lose and you face:

  Paying the taxes anyway
Paying interest on all the taxes you did not pay
  Paying huge fines
Going to jail for tax evasion

This is true whether you hide income and capital gains using gold, Bitcoin, good old fashioned US dollars or any other means.

the point is that they will never know, it's more easy to hide with bitcoin, especially if you hide your coins in other altcoin, simply impossible for them to trace all that shit

with gold it's far more easy to get caught, everythign about gold or fiat is traceable, cash the same, people think that cash are anonymous, but they are not, to get cash you need an ATM which is traced

everything that run on visa or mastercard is traced
I wouldn't bet that your Bitcoin transactions are quite as hard to trace as you think. As soon as you have done a KYC verification somewhere, your info is in the system.  They can track the coins, I mean that is the point of the blockchain!

Once you get into alts they will get you by auditing exchanges.

We are lucky in Germany that if you buy and hold for 1 year, tax isn't an issue. I think tax could be what destroys bitcoin in the future, it is so complicated for businesses.
304  Economy / Speculation / Re: ALTS vs BTC on: May 09, 2017, 09:45:47 AM
Its just a whale game to pump&dump alts to steal noobs their btc. Thats whats going on. Greed is the backbone of the altcoinmarket. Let them play while btc keeps going up. Btc is long term; alts = pump&dump
If it is a whale game of pump and dump, they have decided to pump Bitcoin and dump alts today!
I just took my regular look at Poloniex to see the prices, the sea of red that I found was pretty shocking.

I guess people who invest a large percentage in alts must be either used to it, or happy to hold. Bitcoin is hardly a stable priced currency, but in comparison it is a rock!
Stellar was 300sats a few days ago, went up to 3300sats and is now 1440sats. That is crazy.

Bitcoin is the real investment anyway, I don't trust alts for anything more than a quick in and out trade.
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: [WARNING] Large number of Poloniex members can not withdraw funds. Exit scam? on: May 09, 2017, 09:42:02 AM
I moved some Bitcoin out of Poloniex 2 days ago. It was processed pretty much immediately.

I don't think it is a scam, they might sometimes have short delays, but that is fairly normal.
35h is a long time to wait, it must hurt when the price falls like it has in the last few hours.  Really though, for alts trading it is Poloniex or nothing.
306  Economy / Speculation / Re: do not be afraid of the alts-rally on: May 08, 2017, 09:02:12 AM
I agree mostly to the OP. I'm pretty sure that we are seeing the final stage of the alt rally these days, while Bitcoin has some air to the upside - specially because there is a real possibility now that Segwit gets really traction (Antpool mining a Core block, ViaBTC's poll).

ETH seems to seriously struggle with the 100$ barrier and Dash doesn't seem to be able to score a new ATH. The XRP and NEM pumps were that crazy that they are very likely to be the last pumps of that cycle before a dump takes them back to reality. There could be some coins of the second row to be pumped in the next days, but I wouldn't bet on it.

-when alts have reached their peak and tank, part of that money invested in alts will flood into bitcoin. lots of investors will lose their gains and get burned but some of them will try to learn and switch to bitcoin. imho the positive effect for bitcoin will outweigh the negative ones.

Just a small note: If investors buy altcoins via Bitcoin ($FIAT -> BTC -> $ALTCOIN) without being interested in Bitcoin, then some will go back to fiat via BTC when they take profits ($ALTCOIN ->BTC -> $FIAT). This could have a negative incidence in Bitcoin's price, although it should not be enough for a serious crash.
I see alts like a bonus account of Bitcoin. If there are billions of dollars invested in Alts, they are poised and ready to buy into Bitcoin at any moment.
I don't really believe that so many people are interested in Alts, or that they are seen as a long term investment.  They are just people who bought Bitcoin and want to trade with it when the price is less volatile.

ETH should have a struggle at $100, that is a huge price for ETH. DASH too is crazily high, they are at prices that Bitcoin was at a few years ago, but with few of the prospects that Bitcoin had then.

Enjoy the ride, don't be scared of alts, but do think of them as penny stocks. You don't want to be left holding when the bottom falls out of the market, which can happen at any time for any coin. Look at the Poloniex delisted coins that fell 90% in a few minutes. It is dangerous stuff!
307  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Macron supporting bitcoin? what does it mean for us? on: May 08, 2017, 08:17:16 AM
He may be a crypto user, but that doesn't mean that he supports it.
I think that one of the worst things that could happen for most crypto users would be that someone in charge really understands crypto.

They will know how people trade, when taxes are due but not being paid, they can follow the blockchain to find illegal transactions. They can shut down non-regulated exchanges, the would require more KYC etc etc.

It might be better for the long term acceptance of Bitcoin, but it would kill the idea of Bitcoin as a non-centralized people's currency
308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ASK] Why do people buy altcoin? on: May 08, 2017, 08:13:43 AM
1) Pump and dumps
2) quick trading when the Bitcoin price is stable or falling or
3) They really believe that the project is good and has a future.

1 works well for the whales.
2 works well when the prices are volatile/rising
3 is näive!
309  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin credit card? on: May 05, 2017, 07:20:28 AM
The fees for using Bitcoin debit cards are pretty hideous usually.
I have an unactivated Bit-X one lying around somewhere, I might use it some time, but there are fees for activating, and everytime it is used, or if it isn't used!

I don't know how exactly a Bitcoin credit card would work. You want to amass debt, then pay it off with Bitcoin?  Apart from the fact that that seems to be against the tenants of Bitcoin, I don't think that banks are involved enough in Bitcoin to make it a viable option in the near future.
310  Local / Off-Topic (Deutsch) / INSIGNITUS GOLD - kennt jemand das? on: May 04, 2017, 04:35:08 PM
Kennt jemand hier INSIGNITUS GOLD?
Ich habe die gerade entdeckt, aber schicke ungern Geld an eine mir unbekannte Firma.
311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavin Andresen: stay away from Blockstream, Greg and Samson are toxic trolls. on: May 04, 2017, 11:59:58 AM
I don't wanna get into the drama silliness but Mow really does troll pretty hard on twitter lol
Well if it is good enough for the leader of the free world, then it is good enough for Bitcoin!

But in all seriousness, wouldn't it be nice if people could sit down together, even if that means remotely, and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the different block sizes, respect each others opinions, and not troll each other or bad mouth each other afterwards?

I know that when money is involved, that won't happen, but it would be nice!
312  Economy / Economics / Re: Can bitcoin improve the economy of a country? on: May 04, 2017, 09:05:37 AM
I think it can help lessen the people who doesn't earn or the unemployed,
They can earn through this crypto currency and help their family and their selves .

Yes, it will be an excellent opportunity for unemployed people who have plenty of free time to study bitcoin.
How exactly? I see bitcoin as money. You don't get given it (in any meaningful amounts) unless you earn it.
Faucets give away fractions of cents. People may be able to trade to make a profit, but I doubt that the unemployed will invest thousands in Bitcoin to try to make money out of it.

To the OP, I guess governments will all be aware of bitcoin now, some regulations are in place, but they don't really care about it yet.  I doubt they consider it a threat or a great opportunity.  The number of users is small, but increasing. They might actually take note of crypto in the future, hopefully they will have to!
313  Economy / Speculation / Re: The simple truth is.. on: May 04, 2017, 08:48:54 AM
It is kind of true. People looking to buy into bitcoin now will not want to buy $500 worth, meaning 0.33BTC.
They will want at least one whole Bitcoin. That isn't really viable for a lot of people though.

I feel lucky that I bought in the 2014 dip and have more or less held. I am not sure that the only way is up, but I am scared that if I sell, I will be left looking stupid when Bitcoin is worth $25k per coin!

How many of the total Bitcoin supply are actually available to buy anyway? I reckon way less than 1mil
314  Other / Politics & Society / Re: World War 3 on: May 02, 2017, 02:14:18 PM
Only 1 country has even used nuclear weapons in war, and I would expect them to be the next to use them too!
People often write about Russia, India or Pakistan using them, they would never do it!  They know that they would be annihilated almost immediately.

The good old US of A would get it's missile defences up, then nuke someone and claim it was a necessary act, otherwise *insert name here* would have nuked America first!
315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin eventually kill Altcoin? on: May 02, 2017, 02:10:05 PM
People just move their money into bitcoin to get involved in the price rise. To so that they sell their alts.
That starts a little cycle of Alts falling, so people selling more to get into Bitcoin, meaning that the difference gets even bigger.

It'll only last a little while, until the Bitcoin price stabilises and people look at the new lower price of Alts, so move back into them!

I try not to stress too much about it, if you are in the big alts, they will bounce back.
316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What makes the bitcoin price stronger in the market? on: May 02, 2017, 06:21:38 AM
I think the price is high because people feel it could be used in the future, not because it is used now.
Even now the market cap is far too low to be used by the super rich to move money around.  I think it is useful for moving smaller amounts internationally, without risk of having it confiscated.

Bitcoin should have a niche in the currency exchange market, but unfortunately that market hasn't even started yet.  If I want to exchange Bitcoin for Pounds sterlins to use in the UK, I have to sell for Euro, then pay the normal currency fees, before getting my GBP.

I think the low market cap means that hope can hold the price high. It could be much much higher if it was actually used.
317  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BITGILD.com - Bitcoin to Gold || LIVE CHARTS - BITCOIN TO GOLD || on: May 01, 2017, 08:13:44 PM
Why does an gold ounce now cost more than €100 more if you pay with Bitcoin that if you pay with Euro?
I mean it isn't even close. The price of a gold ounce Kangaroo is 1218€, Bitcoin is at €1280. The price of the Kangaroo in Bitcoin is 1.05!

That is crazy, if you don't want to accept Bitcoin, don't!  It's a shame though.
318  Economy / Economics / Re: The dream of getting rich with bitcoins on: May 01, 2017, 08:04:13 PM
I don't see myself getting rich any time from Bitcoin, but it is definitely helping my overall wealth quite a bit.
I have a low double digit number of Bitcoins, I couldn't buy a house with the money, but it is possible that in the future I could swap out my Bitcoins for a house!

That isn't really dreaming of getting rich, but dreaming of being better off for sure.

My main worry is selling my Bitcoin and regretting it if the price really goes crazy to $10k+ in the future.  Some even think it could go even higher than that!
319  Economy / Speculation / Re: [UPDATE] $1,400 HIT (Next goal is $1,500) on: May 01, 2017, 08:00:33 PM
Bifinex prices don't count, the average of the others should be the quoted price.
It seems like there was a quick jump up again, the price doesn't seem like it is going to dump like last time.

I'm never keen to say that this time it is different, but I do think that the base price is much higher now and could peak up to nearer $2000.

Exciting times for holders.  I am still not hearing anything about bitcoin in every day life, so the chances to rise more in the future are immense!
320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Enforcing Transparency and Accountability through Cryptocurrencies on: May 01, 2017, 07:56:27 PM
I like the idea of wages being paid in Bitcoin.  That would improve the transparency of wage structures in companies.
People could also see if others are saving, or if they are broke.

It would be a very different society if that happened, but I personally think it would be a good thing for the greater good.

You could always hide you wealth in different wallets, but the wages part would be good to know and see. Transparency isn't to be feared.
