1301  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how about removing ALL computers on: April 06, 2015, 09:36:38 AM
something bothered me,since ive started bitcoin

i think all the transactions are stored in computers, thats the core, right?if that's the core, what if we remove all the core's existence?does this mean all the bitcoins existed will be lost?

Even a massive solar flare that hits the earth, wiping out all electronics, wouldn't destroy the entire world, only those that are facing the sun at the time and are unprotected, i.e. not in basements or covered by metal.

The chances of the blockchain being wiped out is incredibly small, I reckon even if a virus was started to destroy it, there would still be blockchains on usb sticks, or offline that could restore most of the info when the virus was eradicated.
1302  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Global Economics and Implementation of Bitcoin on: April 06, 2015, 09:32:48 AM
I want to start off by saying I am an advocate of bitcoin.  With any new innovation there will always be people that are affected by change and will shun that change because it will impact how business is conducted.   One of the biggest hurdles I see with the implementation of bitcoin is that congress will create legislation that restricts bitcoin from becoming a world wide denomination of currency.  Why?  Money is power!!!!!

First and foremost, lets look at what happened after the United States won the Revolutionary War.  One of the grunting points the "Rebels" had with the King was Taxation without Representation.  Shortly after the defeat of the British the politicians elected realized that without any income they have no power.  Taxes had to be implemented to give the US government a means to create infrastructure.

My big question is what would the role be of the National Treasury, Congress, and Execute branch be if bitcoin were to be adopted as a world-wide currency?  Is there a way to implement bitcoin and still have the same type of government without us being taxed the same way?  Is there a different system that would work better for our society?

My hope is that bitcoin will get ride of a centralized bank and let currency finally be free to the public.  However, it seems that the individuals with the most bitcoins can obviously corrupt the system.  Where is the middle ground?  "Hi, officer I'm sorry I was speeding here's 300 bitcoins for your trouble goodbye", said the richman.  How should the ones that abuse the system be held accountable?

Thanks,

Publicx

If bitcoin is to take over as the world currency, it will take a revolution, it won't happen through slow evolution.
If the monetary system of today completely collapses, and the Fed, treasuries of the world and other central banks all fold, then Bitcoin could take over.

In the stock market they say you should never fight the fed, that is the same with bitcoin, if the fed wants to beat down bitcoin, they will.  It will only be after they are gone that Bitcoin can flourish.
1303  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ISIS destroys Syrian Church on Easter Sunday on: April 06, 2015, 09:29:53 AM
Seize all the Western assets of Saudi Arabia and Qatar and distribute them to the victims of the ISIS genocide. These two nations are responsible for the ISIS curse.

I don't understand why they don't attack israel, they proclaim muslims but they kill also muslims so this is not "really" rational. However (ontopic) what is the purpose for destroy a church?
They aren't that stupid?

If they attack Israel, they will be brutally eliminated and Israel will take massive chunks of lands as their own, like every other time Muslims have tried to attack Israel.  ISIS like to pick their battles, Israel would be a poor choice.

There is more that one type of Islam, so I guess they don't mind killing muslims either, they also have political goals, not just religious.
1304  Economy / Gambling / Re: DirectBet – LIVE Sportsbook & Racebook. Rated # 1 by Bitcointalk Members ! on: April 06, 2015, 09:27:11 AM
Do you ever offer each way or top 3 bets?
I want to bet on the Tour of Flanders, but I have a few picks for the top3-4 but I'm not so confident on the winner!

We should have additional top 3 bets later, closer to the event.
Ok thanks, I didn't get to see the market on the day.
I backed Terpstra to win, he came second. Shame, like I say though, it was likely he'd be top 3 but winning is a crapshoot.
1305  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 1TH/s mining power in today's world, April-2015 on: April 04, 2015, 07:36:25 AM

funny thing is that all this taking into account that he have free electricity

one s5 cost about 1.5 bitcoin(best price so probably more), this mean you need 225+(250-300 if we count the diff) days to roi(with free electricity)...sound ridiculous

Don't forget the cost of a psu, he'll need one to run his S5.
Yeah, even in a hypothetical situation with free electricity, low difficulty increases and a free miner, it will still take months to get a 1 bitcoin profit, it's like $1.50 a day profit.
With a 1.5 btc outlay and a perfect situation, it would take a year to get the miner paid for, is anyone willing to bet that there aren't better miners available in one year?

Which leads to the question, why does anyone (except the big farms) buy miners???
1306  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Does Anybody Know Where I Can Purchase A North Korean Won? on: April 04, 2015, 07:30:44 AM
I should have asked if you want post 2009 won, or older non-currency won?

Are they valuable in the west? It sounds like quite a few people are after them, it could be a business to bring some back over here, unless they confiscate at the border, then I can see why it would be so rare in America.
1307  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is still in the year 2013. How do we get past it? on: April 04, 2015, 06:54:06 AM
2013:
- Largest exchanges getting "hacked" (Mtgox)
- Largest Bitcoin mining companies scamming users (BFL)
- Online black markets scamming users, losing money, and getting shut down (Silk Road)

2015:
-The largest exchanges are still getting hacked (Bitstamp, Bter)
-Largest Bitcoin mining companies scamming users (ASICMiner)
-Online black markets scamming users, losing money, and getting shut down in the same exact fucking way (SR 2, Evolution)

Still no multi-sig in use. Still no use of decentralized platforms like Mycelium Trader and Open Transactions. Is this still 2013? We're walking into the same wall over and over and we don't know how to get past it. Are we praying for Ben Lawsky's Bitlicense (which seems to be dragging on into eternity) to come save us? Are we waiting for Satoshi to come back and say "Guys, cloud mining is bullshit. What are you doing?" I look at coinmarketcap.com and there's a blatant scam (Paycoin) in the top 10.

How do we get past the year 2013?
The base is bigger now than in 2013. Mt Gox was the be all and end all in 2013 until it started to go badly wrong, whereas when Stamp shut temporarily, there was very little disruption to the market.  Unseen on this board, between 2013 and now bitcoin has been made far more Chinese, with those exchanges taking over.

Essentially main stream acceptance is the answer to your question. Like cash, bitcoin will always be used for dodgy dealings, but no one associates cash with scammers as it is ubiquitous, so those scams are a very small percentage of the total usage.
1308  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao - Who are you taking? on: April 04, 2015, 06:47:08 AM
I honestly think that no one who is commenting watches boxing, as Mayweather is 100% the better fighter. He still has a change but I think that Mayweather is going to take it easy.

You reasoning behind this because in your personal opinion you think mayweather is the better fighter, that is fair enough but because you believe that does not mean others do not watch boxing because they see different to you. We will see who wins i think it will be a good fight and i am with Pacquiao because i have never seen a boxing fight Tongue

It is not a opinion it is a fact. The odds of the game have n in favor of like 3:1 or something. He has never been KO'd or lost a fight, Pacquiao has lost twice and once to a unknown dude. In the end they are both great but Mayweather is better.

if you based your bet on odds, this will be your biggest mistake since odds favor those that are better, but that doesnt mean that actually mayweather will 100 % win the game, I would say there are 50 % chance for each another to win as this is a very intense battle
I do not bet solely on odds xD, but odds do determine the better pick. The odds for this fight are not 50:50 for the two they are favored in Mayweather like 3:1 meaning that he is three times more likely to beat Pacquiao. These numbers are not jsut stringed out of thin air, they are  analyzed and determined by how people are betting.
The whole point is that no one knows but it is out best analysis. More relevant than PacMans loss 9years ago is recent form, which has been quite good, but without power. He is definitely past his best though, I think that when he beat Cotto, he would have beaten Floyd.

Floyd hasn't been as good recently. He made hard work of Maidana, who is a good but not great fighter. He has had a few scares in his career but managed to stay 100%. He has to be the favourite but I don't think he has a 75% chance of winning, I would put it more like 60%.

I will be backing the draw, I can imagine Floyd winning a dodgy decision, leading to a rematch, but at 22-1 in a fight that is near certain to go to points between two well matched fighters who have a big financial incentive to draw, I'll take the draw!
1309  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 03, 2015, 04:43:39 PM
Trolls keep trollin', meanwhile bid support at 250 rising steadily...

still relevant

I can't get too excited about being supported at $250 to be honest.
Looking at the number of trades and the amount of investment in bitcoin this year, the price is a bit of a joke.

I guess we should be happy of a good buying opportunity, but only of the market wakes up and reverses the long down treand too, there is no point in being technically right, but losing money anyway!
1310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is slowly warming g upto the Wall Street on: April 03, 2015, 04:39:01 PM
I believe that Wall Street acceptance s gonna determine the fate of Bitcoin. If it gets accepted and traded like oil or gold, it ll go up big time. On the other hand, if they label it as a tool of scammers, bye, bye BTC.

It has already been labelled as a tool for scammers, but in fairness that has also been pretty accurate!

I think that indirectly Wall Street will help Bitcoin. In one way they will pour money int it and increase the market size, on the other side they will collapse the world economy, which will also lead to bitcoin being more widely adopted.
1311  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Leaders Debate UK Election 2015 on: April 03, 2015, 04:36:42 PM
clear from watching that if it wasn't before that every party except ukip supports mass immigration and sending as much british money abroad in "aid" as possible. masterful of cameron forcing 3 minor party leaders on us to deny farage as much air time as possible.

Oh oh, a UKIP supporter!  I don't think Cameron wants to give as much money as possible abroad, but they don't want to be the "Nasty Party" anymore, so realise they have to give some foreign aid.

If the UK leaves the EU, what will UKIP do then? Will they just disband, or do they want to go further with their Britain for the British idea?
1312  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 0bama to End Nuclear-Related Iranian Sanctions – Peace in Our Time on: April 03, 2015, 03:14:11 PM
Peace in our time? Except that there is a proxy war going on between the Saudis and Iran as we speak, and that the US not supporting Israel anymore means that they might decide to pre-emptivly strike on a few of their neighbors to ensure they remain safe.

that along with wars being wages in Africa, Europe and Asia, I'm not sure we'll see peace in our time, I think it's going in the other direction actually.

You Americans think your politicians suck? Well check ours out.
I though Ed Miliband constantly looking straight to the camera was very American of him (and annoying!).
It makes it a bit pointless that leaders of real parties only wanted to talk to each other, whereas the others had to get involved as they were there.

The greens are a joke, SNP shouldn't vote on English issues, same with Plaid.  The other 4 are the players, with only the conservatives or labour actually needing to make any statements that they could possibly be held to!

I think the conservatives will win, as people don't trust labour with the economy, I think they should apologise and try to say they have learned from the mistakes, whereas they seem keen to try to make them again!
1314  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 1TH/s mining power in today's world, April-2015 on: April 03, 2015, 02:45:49 PM
Hi every body.
It is said that talk to a expert and it is worth than reading book for 1 year.
So, guys, Can any body guess, with mining power of 1000GH/s, what will I be able to earn in today's time of April-2015, regardless of energy consumption. I just wanted to know, How much time, it will take to earn 1 BTC, if miner stays running 24/7.
Also, It will be a great help, If some one can mention, What is the best pool for a miner of 1TH/s? which is considered good in every aspect.

So after 500 days you should have made 0.68 Bitcoins, so probably 750 days or so to make a Bitcoin.
That is assuming the difficulty rises 20% a time, which it might unless a new generation of miners is released in the next 2 years - likely.

Assuming no difficulty increases, and no costs or pool charges it would take about 100 days to get your bitcoin.

There is lots of info on the mining forum, they have questions like this a lot.
1315  Economy / Economics / Re: A Social Currency on: April 03, 2015, 02:39:23 PM
People will always find a way to get hold of far more of the currency that they should have, given a fair starting distribution.
Clams were given out to people who had active bitcoin, litecoin or dogecoin accounts, so the distribution should have been very very fair, but now I would guess that over 75% of all of the coins claimed are owned by, or are stored at Just-Dice...

It's human nature, if you try to make everyone equal, they will soon make themselves unequal, some for the better and some for the worse.

As for getting the whole world voting, people vote in their own self interest, so China would do very well out of this currency!
1316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Rant on: April 03, 2015, 02:33:42 PM
Blockchains and the blockchain are good things and people are realising that instead of writing everything down, then having copies stored right left and centre, they can just have an online secure blockchain that will bring all modern transactions into the 21st century.

I agree that it isn't the main point of Bitcoin, but it is a big point of bitcoin.  Especially give that it is the best defended blockchain in the world, by a long way.

Avatar advertising.

Yes or no?

No thanks
The normal avatars can be funny and interesting, I think people see the companies enough in the signatures, there is no need to overwhelm the forum with avatar advertising too.
1319  Economy / Services / Re: DaDice Signature Campaign - The BEST Yet | HIGHEST RATES! | JOIN THE FUN! on: April 02, 2015, 08:14:23 PM
DaDice Avatar Campaign has now been officially withdrawn.

Sorry guys*.

*To those who voted yes.

Did the admins stop avatar campaigns? or did you just decide against it?

I would like it is they allowed avatar changes for a few days, then stopped them again, so that only the few who are active at the moment can get them. Especially now when the price of bitcoin is so bad.
1320  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: April 02, 2015, 01:32:26 PM
Do we know how many they are supposed to have stolen?  I had heard that they were arrested about the silk road theft but I didn't know it could be Gox related.
Are there any actual updates about getting money back from Gox?  Or is that about as likely as it ever was to be allowed to withdraw money from Gox?!
