521  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the big whales are not cashing out? on: December 13, 2016, 09:45:59 AM
I am no big fish, but as someone who has an average price of under $300 per bitcoin, I don't really feel the urge to sell.
The recent rise has been slow and steady, I expect that if the price starts to fall, it will also move quite slowly.

I don't expect to be at a paper loss anytime soon, hopefully ever, so I am happy to sit and wait.  I am not buying at the moment, but I am not selling either (gold parity might change my mind though)
522  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin v Tax on: December 09, 2016, 02:27:31 PM
I heard today that $36 trillion is held offshore to avoid tax.
Bitcoin obviously isn't a big part of that market as it is only has a market cap of $12.4 billion. (0.0344%)

Lets hope people really start using bitcoin to avoid tax, then the price could easily be 100x higher!
523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Zcash price will go upto $1000 [Hold your coins] on: December 09, 2016, 02:15:28 PM
I've just made up got some leaked news [cannot share the source] but believe me zcash going to up again. Just hold your coins or you will be regret it.
Source tells In my dreams zcash will go to at least $700 or might be $1000 at the end of this year.

Fixed that for you
524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Zcash is closer and closer to 20$! on: December 09, 2016, 02:09:12 PM
Zcash is every day down price
only wait zcash price can reach to 20 dollar
maybe in end year, is natal and new year holyday, zcash price can down to under 0.05 bitcoin maybe can reach to 20dollar/zcash

It such a pity, zcash actually got the potential, seeing the price keep on decresing is such a sad story, but once the coin lose the trust it will be hard to regain it back, it is possible in the middle of 2017 the price will be 10$
Where is the potential of zcash and a chance for ZEC around $10 is so high? The coin was decreasing anytime. But the ZEC miner still dump the coin.
It can be worst decision for buying it right now.
The worst decision was buying at higher than 2BTC!
The people who bought at 30BTC or higher have more money than sense, even now that they have lost so much money!
525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Patent trolling in the Bitcoin world on: December 03, 2016, 06:57:09 PM
If Coinbase has developed the best private key protected, then they can and should patent it.
If they try to patent the protection of private keys, then it is stupid.

If you look at Apple and Samsung, they patent everything, no matter if it is worthwhile, new or even used.  I guess the same will happen in bitcoin, but to lesser extent.
526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does anyone ever look at "Announcements (Altcoins)" anymore? on: November 24, 2016, 10:36:31 AM
I also stopped ages ago, it is either incredibly long threads that have taken on a life of their own, or sh!tcoins.
I couldn't name the vast majority of the coins announced now, and that is probably a good thing to be honest!
527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: No one wants to spend 10,000 of their Altcoins for a Pizza on: November 23, 2016, 08:44:39 AM
I think this seems to be the problem with most altcoins.  None of the people want to follow the example of Bitcoin.
I guess they don't want to fathom that right now it would take 10,000 of them to buy a pizza.   Smiley

The number 10,000 is irrelevent! If I hold an alt that has a value of 1 satoshi, I will gladly spend 10,000 of them on a pizza, it would be a great deal.
I wouldn't spend 10,000 Eth on a pizza, no.

Other than a very small group of Alts, none have the potential to be worth $100 per coin, so the fear of being the guy who spend 10,000 Xcoins on a pizza shouldn't be in your mind.  You could always buy more for fiat anyway, so there would be no loss at the end of the day!
528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: time to buy Dogecoin on: November 23, 2016, 08:39:21 AM
There seems to me to be 2 ways forward for the Dogecoin price.
Either there will be another pump taking the price back above 60, as has happened 3-4 times before.

OR

a long slow death!  At the moment the price is slowly falling pretty consistenly, this could continue for a while yet getting the price down to 20 or even lower.

The historical chart suggests that it is due a pump, but plenty of coins have slowly died too, so who knows!
529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: wow ,almost 30,000 unconfirmed trans on: November 23, 2016, 08:36:05 AM
Want to do something about it.

Everyone BoyCott BTC for 24 hours because of the Ignored Transaction Problems
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1690300.new#new

 Cool

FYI:
It was higher the 50,000 earlier today.
Sounds like trying to kill the currency that we want to move forward!
If the users stop using it, then why will it have value?

There are problems to be solved, but a boycott could adversely effect the future of BTC
530  Economy / Economics / Re: Switzerland=Bitcoin Boom on: November 18, 2016, 09:46:28 PM
It really does sound like Switzerland could lead the way in Bitcoin in the near future.
How hard can it be to run a bitcoin bank? No fractional reserve, so just keep people's money in safe wallets.

I guess many have failed with that last part, but a government or bank should be able to secure some Bitcoin wallets!
531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum wallet not showing balance on: November 17, 2016, 03:13:26 PM

I suggest that you nuke your blockchain data and reload again from scratch with "geth --fast".
Make a backup of your keystore first, this is always a good idea.
This thread could be helpful as well: http://ethereum.stackexchange.com/questions/603/help-with-very-slow-mist-sync

I couldn't catch up previously because the blocks downloaded so slowly.
I had heard that it is partially because I had an HDD, so I now have a SSD and decided to delete my chaindata and download the whole chain again.

That is where the problem came from. I know you can spend without being up to date, but you can't if your wallet shows up as being empty, even when it isn't.
532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Good Altcoins Fail on: November 17, 2016, 03:09:51 PM
Why do you think good altcoins fail to keep going?   It seems there are some that are good and people collectively have put in tens of thousands of hours supporting, but the team decides to give up midway.

Do you have any examples in mind?

I would guess that most are unique when released, then slowly become overwhelmed by clones and then newer faster, better alts.  Alts are basically a big pump and dump scheme anyway. That isn't to say that some of them aren't good projects, but one people are done pumping them and dumping them for profit, the interest in them slowly fades away.
533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are we in a bubble? on: November 17, 2016, 03:02:28 PM

FYI:
Nov 13th, 3 years ago , BTC was ~$1275 per coin, it has been going down in price for years, and the people that brought at the high, all lost money on BTC.

For my information? I know, I was watching at the time as it flashed new ATH in the corner of bitcoinity!
It hasn't exactly been going down for years, it is lower than it was for about 4-5 months in late 2013/early 2014.  That was a bubble though.

The problem with bubbles is, you can only really see them after they have popped. It is harder again with Alts as they are hundreds of smaller markets that each fluctuate.

The Combined Altcoin Market Capitalization chart doesn't look very bubbly (I hadn't seen that chart until today), it does look like it is at a quite high level though. The Bitcoin dominance is lower than historically too, even though the price of Bitcoin is historically high. I guess we will find out soon enough!
534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fastest transfers from wallet to wallet? on: November 17, 2016, 02:46:37 PM
Nobody can beat the speed and safety of Vcash. Poloniex ran Zero Confirmation deposits for 6 months publically and had no problems with it whatsoever. This is why Vcash has only 1 confirmation on Poloniex, because we are waiting for competition in the Zero Confirmation arena + speed. ZeroSlot.com is about to show how slow all existing cryptocurrencies are with the exception of Vcash and the Alpha release of ZeroLedger is truly decentralised client with with no block chain. Don't wait for the future, it's here. Cool

https://v.cash/forum/threads/version-0-5-0-zeroledger-alpha-2-release.678/

wow!no one is able to debunk your statement
Poloniex confirmed to me in the trollbox that they accept Vcash without confirmations.
That was a while ago, so maybe it is 1 confirmation now, I can live with that though.
535  Economy / Speculation / Re: Nobody is talking about the reason for this rise! on: November 17, 2016, 02:44:11 PM
The crazy low Renminbi is the reason that makes most sense to me.
In fact the very strong Dollar generally is a good reason to buy, unless you are in America.

I also think some people are spooked by Trump getting into power, they expect inflation to follow.  He also seems like he will be pro-trade, that might be good for Bitcoin.
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum wallet not showing balance on: November 16, 2016, 07:54:10 PM
Almost exactly the same thing has happened to me.
I guess I will have to wait until they release a half way decent client, then I will get my ETH back.
537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Are we in a bubble? on: November 16, 2016, 03:41:14 PM
I follow crypto stuff and have done for a long while, but I justed looked on coinmarketcap and saw in the top 30 some names like DigixDAO, PeerPlays, Stellar Lumens, Shadowcash, Stratis and Xaurum.
I haven't heard of any of them!  They all have a market cap of over $8mill too. One year ago only the top 10 coins or so had a market cap of over $8 million.

I know lots of fanboys who hold the above coins will now post saying that they are great (until they sell them), but it looks to me like we are in a bubble.

What do you think, bubble or just lots of good coins!?
538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if you could buy bitcoin at $0.1? on: November 16, 2016, 03:31:35 PM
Remember the old days when bitcoin was at $0.1?

What if there was something similar that you could buy at that price, would you take it?

I recently came across ICONOMI, a crypto designed to revolutionize the Funs Management Industry, this industry is worth Trillions of dollars - No other crypto is on this field.

Currently trading at about $0.2 on the Kraken exchange (Symbol: ICN) in the last days had an increase of already 100%+, it's not even in Poloniex yet.

I think Iconomi will be for Funds Management the same bitcoin is for Money, a big fat revolution.

Have a look at it:

Get in the train before its too late! This coin is going to reach at least $2 in the next few days/weeks.... that's 1000% ROI, just watch.

Lots of announcements, releases and good things to come! Just read about it and you will understand.

Can you rename the thread - iconomi pump thread or something, it will save people reading the thread under false pretenses.
539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin IS basically DESTROYED on: November 11, 2016, 07:17:17 AM
One person or collaboration needs to have 51% to double spend, and as you know that would destroy Bitcoin so it wouldn't be in their interest anyway.
China is not a person or a collaboration, it is a country of 1.4billion people!
540  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Ordered something from all4btc.com on: November 09, 2016, 08:02:18 PM
I have only had good experiences with all4btc (except for them misspelling my name!).
It can take a day or 2 before the place the order, but I like using them as I don't have to trust anyone, when I bought something with Purse.io I ended up getting letters from lawyers afterwards.
