881  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling should be considered as a Sickness!! on: March 19, 2016, 09:14:30 AM
I don't agree. Gambling too much or money that you can't afford to lose is obviously bad, but gambing for some fun or successfully is fine.
It's like people complaining that drinking alcohol is a sickness, whereas lost of people enjoy an occasional drink without any side effects.
882  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Debit Card | BIT-X.com | Anonymous or Named | Low Fees! on: March 18, 2016, 10:27:02 AM
Just so that I get this right.

Bit-x sent me an anonymous card, so I don't pay for issuance I assume.  If I load it with 0.5BTC (180€) then:
I will pay 9.95 for activation so I have 170€ I would pay 3.5% on all currency conversions, i.e. BTC to fiat, so I have 164€ to actually spend, and every time I use it it will cost me 2.95€, so say I use it 4 times that would be 12€ so I could spend 152€ of my 180€ deposited? (if I only use it in shops, not ATMs)

Is that right? Can I cancel the card afterwards so that I don't collect extra charges? Has anyone found a good way to use the card without losing 15% of your money?!
883  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [TIP] EDIT: Vanillacoin rebranded ! Now is Vcash XVC #fintech #azure #microsoft on: March 18, 2016, 07:02:45 AM
So that no one has to click on links.

Quote
1. Microsoft Azure

Submit final pull request to Azure Team for template inclusion for one click deploy on Microsoft's Azure BaaS platform. The exact services to be offered will be revealed at a later date when the time is right.

2. Thin clients

Currently there are 3 tiers of network nodes, full public nodes, firewalled public nodes and non-fully validating client nodes. We are adding a 4th tier "Thin Clients" which will download blocks containing only their transactions by use of remote Bloom Filters. The 1st tier will service up to 350 "Thin Clients" per node. The addition of this 4th tier will allow the network to scale to 100's of millions of nodes with ease.

3. Client Ledger Pruning

This feature has already been implemented but not integrated. Integrating pruning will allow systems to run nodes indefinately where previously storage would become an issue with time. Additionally this allows "non-fully validating client nodes" to continue to protect the network via Proof-of-Stake while using minimal disk space.

4. Streaming Initial Download

Initial syncronisation of the ledger will no longer fully validate blocks that are of N depth. Additionally, blocks will be streamed "in-order" and queued for validation. This will allow the ledger to be downloaded extremely quickly while validating it "in the background".

5. ChainBlender R3 Client Protocol

ChainBlender was designed as a client-side protocol which allows modyfing, adding or replacing blending algorithms without the need for a network backbone upgrade. All existing crypto-currencies with ledger anonymity technology is defeated by obtaining a copy of the wallet file or private keys. With the R3 protocol key flushing will be deployed to permanently destroy any private keys used previously in a blending operations. Key flushing solves two problems: 1. In a hypothetical situation where a Government agency may confiscate a wallet file in attempt to trace transactions the privaye keys required for proof will no longer exist. 2. Wallet size will not grow due to cryptographic key accumulation.

6. Decentralised Governance Protocol

Autonomous governance is key to the long term stability and evolution of a crypto-currency. This will enable technology change proposals, project proposals, salaries, etc all settled "in the ledger" removing the human element and extinguishing politics. All votes will be cast by incentivized nodes guaranteeing that those that vote also hold interest in the project.

7. Wallet Tools

We strongly feel that autonomous wallet management is key to the success of any crypto currency. Moving forward we cannot ask end users to perform operations on their wallet files due to the high risk involved. Instead we will be making available a subset of tools via RPC to fix wallet problems such as "stuck invalid transactions", "rescans", "repairs", "import", "export" and so on.

8. ZeroTime based online gambling.

The worlds fastest crypto-currency gambing platform with no operator risk of a double spend scenario.

9. DWAPI

DWAPI is a Decentralised Web API. It works simply by using encrypted websocket connections to a subset of public full nodes. Once connected transactions can be sent in raw form without the need to run a node of any type. The DWAPI can be easily extended to perform complex operations with ease.

10. Thin Client's with ZeroTime protocol support.

When thin-client support is deployed to the backbone we will be integrating ZeroTime into several already available thin-clients such as BreadWallet and Electrum.

11. Fix any known bugs and memory leaks.

No description required.

12. Patents and Trademarks

File all provisional patents and trademarks in the USA under a not for profit organisation.

13. Hire a dedicated web development and art staff.

No description required.

14. Hire more C++ engineers.

No description required.

15. Hire a fulltime public relations manager (candidate is already chosen).

No description required.

15. Mass deploy client/mobile nodes.

For the time being our Android and iOS "non-fully validating" wallets are not available in Google Play or Apple's App Store but you can use them via other means. Once we have "Thin Client" support we will deploy both types of node wallet's in mass to all application storefront's.

16. Deploy the Whisper protocol.

No description required (source code is in github).

17. Come out of Beta phase.

No description required.

* This is a mid-level overview that will continue to be updated in the coming weeks. Additionally as the crypto-currency ecosystem matures items may be updated/expanded/added but NOT removed unless due to obsolescence. Some details/items have been purposely withheld due to competition reasons and will be added when the time is right.

** This timeline starts promptly on day 21 of March 2016 and ends the same day in 2017.

885  Economy / Services / Re: ★☆★ 777Coin Signature Campaign ★☆★ Earn up to .0007/Post (Newb-Hero Welcome) on: March 17, 2016, 07:59:20 PM
I got paid last week.  As long as I get paid sooner or later, that is okay by me.
I don't know why there is no real sign up system though.

I had to wait over a week, then send a PM to the campaign manager before being confirmed as being accepted.
886  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Latin American economies are turning to bitcoin on: March 17, 2016, 07:56:34 PM
That sounds good, but are they? I think if any significant part of a country, or even the rich in a country, decided to 'turn to Bitcoin' the price would be much higher than it is now.

I don't really know why they aren't really getting into Bitcoin, Argentina and Venezuala have huge currency issues and Brazil's economy is a state too.  It would be well worth their while to move some money into Bitcoin, but they are obviously aren't.
887  Economy / Economics / Re: Norway lowers interest rates by 0.25% on: March 17, 2016, 07:50:23 PM
Wow, Norway still had positive rates!  Now that they have got to 0.2%, they can go down to zero before starting their attack on Cash.
It is a joke situation nowadays, rates were cut to near zero, that didn't work, so they want to cut more.  Isn't that a sign of insanity?

I wonder how low they can go before they lose control? -5%? When would you take every last cent out of your bank?
888  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Predictions tonight between Manchester united vs Liverpool on: March 17, 2016, 07:47:16 PM
Record Of The Meeting

11/03/16 Liverpool vs Manchester United (2-0)
17/01/16 Liverpool vs Manchester United (0-1)
12/09/15 Manchester United vs Liverpool (3-1)
22/03/15 Liverpool vs Manchester United (1-2)
14/12/14 Manchester United vs Liverpool (3-0)

This time I will predict the match between Manchester United vs Liverpool and for the final score of the match

Manchester United vs Liverpool (1-3)  Cool

Well your previous meetings don't really support your idea that Liverpool will win at Old Trafford!
I think Man Utd will win 2-1, and go out.

If that happens it should get pretty interesting when Man Utd start pouring forward. The away goals rule could ruin yet another good tie though.
889  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: March 17, 2016, 07:45:13 PM
I fear Man Utd will win tonight, but hopefully they won't do enough to actually win the leg.

Dortmund should close it out quite easily too. Spurs don't want to be in the Europa league, they want to win the league, everything else is just a distraction.
890  Economy / Economics / Re: So I made some calculations today on: March 16, 2016, 03:10:25 PM
So I made some calculations today.
The total world's wealth is estimated around $241,000,000,000,000 (source), the total value of all the gold in the world is $7,290,669,617,313 (source) and bitcoin's market cap as of now is $6,382,047,520 (source).

This basically means that gold represents 3% of the total world's wealth and that bitcoin is only worth 0.0026% of it. In other words, by comparing bitcoin directly to gold: the total value of all bitcoins is 0.087% (or 1/1142) of the total value of all the gold that there is. Looking at it from this point of view bitcoin can easily get to 4 digits. It then seems pretty down-to-earth to say that we will definitely get there before 2020 if nothing goes wrong. 6 digits though, would put us very close (or even above) gold's value, which is hard to imagine at the moment. The millions have already been made but there is still a lot of money to be made with bitcoin and we now have something that pioneers didn't have: stability. Stability is a great thing because it allows for a reliable store of value. I thinks we've actually reached a pretty good balance between prospects and safety of investment.
In other words: we're only waiting for metallurgists to find a way to melt tungsten and gold together. Ok we might have to wait for a while  Grin.

(Also, Ethereum's market cap is already $1,061,551,795, roughly 17% of bitcoin's. Meanwhile everyone is still wondering what the heck it can be good for and no one seems quite sure that the price is high enough as is  Grin.)

You started out well, with sources and information points,
Then it quickly went downhill when you started speculating on what price Bitcoin should be.  Of course it could be 4 digits, it could be 5 digits.  That is not to say that it will, or that it won't be 2 digits.

I look forward to Bitcoin actually being accepted for stuff, and solving the problems that it should be solving - i.e. fast low cost money transfers.  When that happens the price will rise, if it doesn't and I don't really know why it hasn't, then it won't go anywhere fast.
891  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: March 16, 2016, 03:05:47 PM
I like the home double tonight.
I hope there are a few more goal than yesterday, penalty shoot-outs excluded.

I always hope that Arsenal will do well, but they always let me down (or at leats since the invincibles were around), maybe they will turn it around tonight, but I won't hold my breath.
892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Uncharted Territory ....... ? on: March 15, 2016, 12:46:11 PM
I love Bitcoin and it is a revolutionary technology in my opinion, but that dosnt mean that it will be the only crypto to come out of this whole crypto revolution as a winner.  Below is a post i just made on another thread, i feel it needs debate ........ we are in uncharted territory, yes or No ?

Mate no harm but nobody in cryptoland has a clue WTF is going on...... i watched a video of some off the best and brightest in Bitcoin in 2014 saying that Bitcoin would be worth $10,000 in 2015....... WTF  Undecided  We are in uncharted territory anything is possible, wise up

Sorry, what is the question? It is obviously uncharted territory as Crypto is now, but do you mean to ask if the new Alts are game changers?
It will be interesting to see if Bitcoin become the Betamax of the crypto world, or digital gold, or remains the gold standard!

At the moment all we can really say is that ETH is far bigger than any alts have been before and 'could' challenge bitcoin at some point.

Interesting times ahead
893  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: March 15, 2016, 12:41:17 PM
I see 2 quite easy home wins tonight.
Man City don't really have to do anything special, but Kiev don't travel well.
Atletico should win fairly comfortable too, they need to be careful of a score draw, so I expect then to go for it until they are 2 or more ahead.
894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we reduce the blockchain? on: March 15, 2016, 12:39:27 PM
Yeah a notebook with 2TB HD would be pretty expensive and if it were SSD, it would be crazy!
I think fewer people will run nodes in the future, it won't make too much difference, as long as enough people with great internet and massive hard drives do it.

There will always be some people willing and able to do it.
895  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Former Governor of the Bank of England discusses Bitcoin in his new book on: March 13, 2016, 06:25:02 AM
In The End of Alchemy Mervyn King dedicates two pages to discussing the virtual currency. He seems to have a pretty good grasp on the topic too. He also mentions Auroracoin (and Scotcoin in the footnotes) as examples of two scamcoins.

Interestingly he takes an implied stance on the blocksize debate, saying that bitcoin is "more akin to a form of digital gold - appealing to those who distrust governments to control the supply of money but highly volatile in value". Wasn't it Vitalik Buterin who said that if users wanted digital gold they should keep the current blocksize limit in place?

That is some high quality confirmation bias going on there!  That he said it was 'akin to digital gold' does not mean that he has any opinion on the block size!  I would assume that he has no idea that there is a block size limit, what it is, or what the consequences are of it being raised/not being raised.

Good work though!
896  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PoS coins that are worth buying..? on: March 12, 2016, 03:01:54 PM
CLAM ist also PoS.  It is used for gambling on Just-Dice, which seems to support the value of the coin.
The main 'issue' with it is that it was given to all BTC, LTC and DOGE accounts a while ago, so sometimes new diggers increase the supply massively, without warning.  The distribution was fair though, i.e. no IPO.
897  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: March 12, 2016, 02:55:03 PM
Shame that there isn't much happening in the premier league this weekend, and the one game there has been has been 0-0!
Man City really don't want to win the league do they! Every time they have a chance to put pressure on the top teams, they don't take it.

I think Swansea and Soton will win in low scoring affairs in the afternoon games. Yawn.
898  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spanish League Prediction Thread (La Liga) on: March 12, 2016, 02:52:12 PM
How many will Barca score today?  I think they might go big today and get 6+.
Getafe always seem like a team that don't even really bother when they travel to Madrid or Barcelona.

I would guess 7-1 for Barca, should be fun to watch.
899  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: March 12, 2016, 02:50:27 PM
What a wonderful day i have won my bet on Ingolstadt vs VfB Stuttgart for both teams to score after 9 minutes and it happened so quickly like unexpected and now at home ground Ingolstadt is in better position to defend this as like it have good track record.
Nice one, you couldn't have hoped for more really!

I think Ingolstadt will go on and win the game though.
Later Bayern should easily win, I would bet on them minus 2 goals too.
900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Wait, what about Litecoin? on: March 11, 2016, 06:11:00 PM
I have never understood Litecoin.  It is a 4 times bigger and faster than bitcoin, but as an alt it isn't traded as much or as safe.
It offers basically nothing over bitcoin.  Other alts have advantages (and disadvantages) but usually have something different to bitcoin.

Litecoin has 4 times more coins and is 4 times faster.
