When logging in the client, I see the Add second passphrase option next to the account number. Why and when do I need the second passphrase? Do I need a very long word for the second passphrase as well?

Your first passphrase is used to generate the private key which then hashes into your account number.  Same as the present nodes do.  The second passphrase is optional, but recommended to secure your XCR further.

The phrases can be as long as 100 characters.  As with other things, the longer the better.

guys, please consider keeping this thread alive and well.

BCT sucks, but its the center of the altcoin universe.

i think XCR risks losing a lot of attention if you move away.

are there any coins that have successfully done so?

GreXX was saying that we are stil in the ANNOUNCEMENT section of BTT.  If we maintain a thread here, it should be in the "grown up" section.

One drawback for using BTT, is that several of the Crypti devs did not check the blog unless we pointed out something needing their attention.  Mostly it was GreXX, Max, and I posting here.

We have had our own blog, but it got spammed by professional robo-spammers.  We have a better one now.  The devs, like Boris, Stas, Seb, Pavels 1 &2, promise to read and post there.  Also it has our real pics there.  I am the handsome one. Grin Grin Grin

An Introduction to DPOS

A new blog post is up at the official Crypti blog. This post is an introduction to our new DPOS system that will be launching very soon (days). If you have any questions or comments about how it will work or any of the info in the post, please comment on the post for now. We will be launching our new CryptiTalk Forum hopefully today and then we will have a thread dedicated to the DPOS discussions and answering any questions.

With that being said, let us know what you think!

Not if you register a delegate early.  The 10K delegate fee is part of the transaction fee reward system, and is divided among the top 101 forging delegates.  So each delegate earns 90XCR for each new delegate that is registered.  If you are a top 101 delegate, and 111 other delegates are registered, you have earned your registration fee back already, not even counting other trans fees earned.

OK. It makes sense. Can you point to me the place where I can find how to register to become a delegate?

GreXX posted this on the previous page, but here is the link again.

Right now, the 10K XCR fee needed to register a delegate will be earned back only after there have been approx 202 Million XCR transferred in the network, and provided that that particular delegate is up 100% of the time and in the top 101 voted delegates.

This 10K seems too high for small fish and it will exclude lots of users.

Can you please explain your reasons and vision for Crypti's future in regards to the hard coded .5% fee?
I mean when Crypti reaches a value of one dollar per, that will mean it will cost me 5,000 dollars to move 1 million Crypti to another address.
Low nominal transfer fees was one of Bitcoin's advantages over traditional money transmitters.
I understand Crypti's goals are aimed more at commerce than a typical crypto so an explanation would be appreciated.

The .5% fee is to make it worthwhile for users to run delegates that do the forging of transactions.  The fee can be changed as the value and price of XCR grows.

Right now, the 10K XCR fee needed to register a delegate will be earned back only after there have been approx 202 Million XCR transferred in the network, and provided that that particular delegate is up 100% of the time and in the top 101 voted delegates.

As for the cost of moving 1 million XCR at $1 each......... If XCR was worth $1 each, and you had 1 million of them, you would be a millionaire and $5000 would be chump change.

At $1 per XCR, it would also cost $10,000 USD to register a delegate.

We were going to have the delegate fee be 25000 XCR, but that would have required a higher 1-1.5% trans fee to have a reasonable return on investment for a delegate.  Right now, the cost of a delegate is 10,000 X 1000 sats, or 10 million satoshi...... about $25 USD., nly 10% of which goes to the Foundation, which will eventually returned to the community through projects in discussion right now.

We will be reconsidering changes to all Crypti related fees and charges as we progress and the price rises.

This is a project in motion, not an unchanging stone pyramid.

let's get an update every couple days or once a week on BTER funds status. I.e. number of coins held
regards,
Brian

You can see the XCR wallet in the Top Accounts at http://live.crypti.me/topAccounts

Foundation wallet is: http://live.crypti.me/address/15292791051968645847C

As for the BTC, I am the auditor for the funds, and Mike is the responsible party for converting them into fiat for bills.  Syrenity pays the bills in fiat and BTC.  There are approx 430 BTC in our balance right now, spread among several accounts and exchanges.  This diversity is necessary to prevent a Bter type loss of all funds.

If you have any other questions, you can PM me as well.

By NEW ACCOUNT, do you mean your node under 0.2.0 with the DPOS?  If so, the answer is NO.
Your passphrase for your 0.1.9g node will still work for your 0.2.0 node/wallet

No. I meant 0.1.9. I have not withdrew my coins yet. I just want to make sure if I need to make an outgoing transaction after I withdraw my coins from bter to my account.

btw, so quiet here. did everyone go to the NEM place today? Grin

When you withdraw from Bter, it is a standard Crypti transction, and will show in the blockchain, along with the XCR fee.  The Bter fee will not show in the blockchain.  The XCR will show up in your XCR wallet/node

As far as quiet goes, its actually pretty busy internally.... Boris is hurry up finish some work so he can get on a train for the next 24 hrs.... Matt is writting about how DPOS works, so every one will understand out version before launch.  The other devs are working on the testing of DPOS.

Your passphrase for your 0.1.9g node will still work for your 0.2.0 node/wallet

You will need XCR in that node/wallet to pay for forming a delegate and voting for your delegate.

Your delegate can forge with 0 balance, as long as it has sufficient votes to be in top 101 delegates.

For the Windows and Mac versions we don't have an install guide, because it's simple click and run. Smiley  (Well to be precise, there is a Mac OS guide, on our unfinished wiki. If you need it I can send you the guide.)

I am using Windows. OP mentions that I need to install SQLite3 before I install the client. When I click that SQLite3 download page, there are many files. I wonder which one I should download to install SQlite3? Also when I tried to install the client I got a message from my Anti-virus software to ask me if the file of hideexe.exe is safe? Is this hideexe.exe a file from XRC?

Hello,

you don't need to install sqlite3 as a Windows user. This is only for Linux users. Smiley

The Anti-virus software might report something, but I guarantee you that there is nothing dangerous in there. We will see, what we can do there in the future. I asked Stas (Syrenity) about it.

Edit: Stas said, that this hideexe.exe is used to hide the DOS process (terminal). So 100% safe.  Wink

In the very early testing wallet/nodes, we had a DOS window on the desktop in addition to the main window.   It really was annoying  That window is now hidden by hideexe.exe.

Norton alerts on programs that are new, and untested by default.  I see it every time I install an updated node.  Once a number of users have installed the newest updated node, Norton recognizes it as SAFE and will not longer alert.

Where is the step by step guide to install the client?

https://github.com/karmacoma/cryptikit

It is listed on the OP for when you need it again.  Karmacoms wrote it.....

- We don't know the Poloniex account, but we can ask them.

Yes, please do and let us know.  Also, is there a Cryptsy exchange wallet?

There's only about 50M on Bter at the moment. 15M were withdrew within a couple of days. In one week we should be at the point where devs are able to launch 0.2.0
Yes. Smiley

So is there more detailed written documentation anywhere yet on just how 0.2.0 voting is going to work?  How many nodes are up now and how do you see them?  Do we have 100 now? How often will delegate votes occur?

There is probably also a Cryptsy exchange wallet, but we don't know it either. We will ask and update you all in the next few days.

There is no real documentation written anywhere. First April (04/01) I have my last exam at university, then I will write every information you need to know on the wiki. Right now I'm too busy with our new forum and new client design, so I can't take the wiki on my shoulders now as well. Wink

Nodes online are here: http://cryptichain.me/networkMonitor

Poloniex wallet: http://cryptichain.me/address/1064014217195323888C

Is that really Polo's wallet?   SHEESH!!!  There is only 2.2 million XCR in it.  Now I know why there is so little trading at Polo..... I own about half of the XCR there!!

I don't think that's correct.. I moved about 550k XCR Yesterday and the day before.
Regards

Polo is likely using more than one wallet, like Bter.

Bter moved 10 million XCR into their hot wallet.   Two lucky nodes forged those blocks for 890 XCR each.

Thats reason enough to keep your nodes up and forging.

I think 100K a day is not enough. 500K would be better.

We are trying to get it higher. Smiley

Okay, soon 500k withdrawals will be available! Smiley

BTER RAISED LIMIT TO 500K

Not a lot has moved! People probably don't know they can withdraw... I really want to see that BTER wallet obliterated. No more centralized exchanges holding funds please!

We asked people to remove their Bter funds last year, after the NXT theft happened.  But everyone was upset at having to pay the 1% fee to Bter, which was originally agreed to as the fee Bter earned for hosting the IPO.  That is now .5%.

Most people, it seems, only moved 1000 XCR out of Bter to make a node that could forge.

I can see BTER has increased the withdrawal limit to 100000 XCR !  Grin

YES>>>>   And I see several large transactions now going thru the blockchain, including my own

What fee is Bter charging?

GOOD to see ya again, Mal

0.5% plus 1 XCR.. down from the original 1

and then there is the Blockchain fee to the network.

I am seeing 9949 net from 10000 sent

Bter withdrawals activated

Finally! After we sent the newest Crypti client v0.1.9g to Bter yesterday (it was midnight in China), they responded to us this morning.

Lin the owner of Bter activated the withdrawal of XCR. Right now the maximum cap is 10,000 XCR. They are raising this cap step-by-step, but first it's important to know if everything is working.

I just tried to withdraw 5 XCR and it's working! Smiley

So, before you withdraw make your it's working for you as well. E.g. withdraw a few hundred XCR first.

Thank you all, for staying with us.

10000 XCR limit  Cry
I guess it's better than nothing...
But wow! This is going to take decades..
Can anyone come up with a good way to withdraw more?

We are working on having the limit raised to 100K, like it was last year, or removed.

Bear in mind, Bter moves any coin from cold wallets to hot wallets manually, which I assume only Lin can do.  I doubt if he trusts any employee with the cold wallet passwords anymore.

The XCR hot wallet is loaded with 12 million moved there about 5 hrs ago.

Perhaps tomorrow, Lin will raise the limit.
