301  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin go up to 20k usd on mid this new year? on: February 10, 2018, 10:39:08 AM
nobody can tell you that. if you want to invest then do it now and if you are afraid of losing money then maybe investing in general is not your cup of tea.
and remember you can always invest a tiny amount that you don't  care about losing like less than a $100
302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Almost all Altcoins gained *against BTC* today!!! on: February 09, 2018, 02:28:35 PM
no, you are just caught up inside an illusion because you just saw a green percentage in front of the altcoins when you looked at a webpage.

but if you get a closer look and pay more attention to the details you will realize that the "gain" was pathetic compared to the loss. and it is only because they lost so much that they are not recovering a tiny part of it back. it is not magic nor diversification. it is the same newbies falling into same traps.

if these newbies get lucky and bitcoin stays stable around $8000 then their bags will continue growing more in value. but if their luck runs out and bitcoin starts rising or worse starts falling they have to say goodbye to their investments.
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Future of Litecoin on: February 09, 2018, 12:27:16 PM
Litecoin is stepping up be the number one choice for payments

nah, if you want a good cryptocurrency for payment you either choose the most popular cryptocurrency which i bitcoin which is the most secure and with lightning network will be the fastest and cheapest one.

or if you want an altcoin you choose one of the coins like IOTA, RaiBlocks/Nano, Byteball. which are fast and cheap. and even free like IOTA!
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GREEN, GREEN, GREEN a great color on: February 09, 2018, 11:05:07 AM
just make sure to not be blinded by the GREEN color because whenever that happens we are left with a lot of wounded newbies who have lost a lot of money because they bought at a bad time and the smart investors dumped on their heads as they made their exists and left the newbies holding bags of coins that they are going to continue to wish for their rises. a wish that may never come true again.

Following Key points (and probably more) will be presented at the Event.

New Website
New Logo
New Lisk Wallet in the interactive Desktop App + WebApp
Lisk Shop
Lisk Academy
+ the entire Subreddit will be revamped for the rebrand

- snip -

None of the point on the list could make significant impact. I guess there will be slight price increase because of the euphoria, but most of the changes are just cosmetic.

it doesn't matter at all. there are a lot of coins that got pumped for a lot less than this. for example they change their name and it gets pumped 1000% for no reason at all. i have even seen one coin get pumped because they released a new version of their wallet!

and LISK is just trying to have some movement with some tactics that were tested before. it deserves a pump too after all this time.
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: RaiBlocks (XRB) is going to be a top 10 coin on: February 09, 2018, 09:52:57 AM
with their recent name change (rebrand) from the weird name of RaiBlocks to Nano things got exciting once again with this coin. it attracted a lot of attention and that has not gone anywhere yet.
on top of it, this coin has some good potential for rising and has been attracting a lot of volume when you check the market. with its supply, it wouldn't be strange if it could grow big enough to enter the top 10 coins.
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 2 Ethereum or 15 NEO for long term on: February 09, 2018, 09:45:08 AM
So i want to upstake my position in NEO. Is now a good time to upstake or should i wait?

it is always best that you buy these coins when they have a big dip and reach the bottom. meaning in the past couple of days that prices were very low.
not it is not that late but it is still later.
with that said i think NEO is one of those coins that has some good potential of growth. compared to ETH it is not as pumped so it makes it a better option too.
308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is Big in Japan on: February 09, 2018, 07:33:14 AM
bitcoin is big everywhere. it is a decentralized currency that people have chosen to use and invest in all around the world. it is even big in those countries that have issues with bitcoin or even banned it. like Venezuela for instance.
it is the power of bitcoin as a decentralized currency that makes it big.

it is bigger in Japan and more noticeable there because of the regulations that bitcoin has in Japan. because they adopted it as a legal way of payment with 0 taxes and that helped with the mass adoption among lots of merchants over there. so you see it more often.
309  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why bitcoin price drop so fast? on: February 09, 2018, 07:26:19 AM
my theory is that the fast and big price drop of bitcoin was mainly because of the excessive number of newbies invested in bitcoin. and these newcomers who have never been in bitcoin and never bothered to educate themselves are considered weak hands. with the first sign of FUD they panicked an started dumping their coins. so the drop became huge whereas it could have been a lot smaller if not for these newbies.

all the rest of the drama like calling bitcoin a "bubble" or talk of "bans" are pure bullshit.
310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Waves Sell Or Hodl? on: February 08, 2018, 02:28:09 PM
everything has been falling down significantly recently as bitcoin price started going down. it is not just Waves.

it is very hard to say whether you should hold it or not but considering that
1) you held your coins this long during all the drops and also considering the fact that
2) drops in bitcoin has stopped and consequently the drops in altcoins have also stopped (even if the altcoin drops are temporary)
you may want to hold longer because there is a good chance that the big recoveries start from now on and we see some pumps too.
311  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why almost everybody suggest to hold? on: February 08, 2018, 02:09:46 PM
IMO, only HODL on to promising coins with an active GitHub and/or other developments + if their MCAP is greater than ~20Mil USD.
Anything below that is too high a risk to HODL in my opinion.

good things to consider but during the times when there is a price drop in bitcoin which is then causes the market wide dump it is not such a wise choice to keep on holding altcoins that are dropping so fast and hard. there are altcoins with big market cap that lost 70-80% of their value and they won't recover from this big dump for months until their next pump starts.
312  Economy / Speculation / Re: Read this before you think to sell on: February 08, 2018, 01:45:39 PM
sometimes this market seems too emotional to me which is why the swings like this happen. you can see the headlines in that article all of them pointing to the rise and how everything is fine and happy. then compare those with current articles saying how things are dark and dying, everyone seems to be banning bitcoin or dropping it.

and all the while the "wise money" is being invested in bitcoin in each dip.
313  Economy / Speculation / Re: two ways to face the price drop on: February 08, 2018, 01:30:39 PM
Im feeling myself shit for not having sold at the top. It was a opportunity to have more bitcoins now. And I missed it.

Now Im trying to predict a top, but theres all this talk about banks going to buy bitcoin for its reserves, after that US senate meeting. So you sell and get burned as it can go higher. I still believe we will reach 25k by march.

not all of us can be traders. either for lack of experience or lack of time. and sometimes doing nothing is better than getting involved and selling/buying.
now it obviously is easy to say i wish i did such and such because the chart is clear but at the time price is going down everyone is asking the important question "is it the bottom or will it go lower".
314  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex is adding USD trading and opening up for new accounts on: February 08, 2018, 01:09:03 PM
it is a good news but unfortunately it is a news from a scam exchange. it would have been great if this news was about any exchange other than bittrex.

they are no longer trusted among traders and they lost a lot of their users when they decided to scam them and then they lost a lot more because they left them when they saw the scam.
they may be desperate  for volume at this point which is why they added new pairs!
315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apple founder has sold all his Bitcoin on: February 08, 2018, 01:04:36 PM
As I have said several times, all the whales are getting out.

this is excellent news.

less whales > less big players > less manipulation > less power in hands of some people with a lot of money > more distribution of bitcoin > less volatility > much more adoption > much bigger rise > soon better future for bitcoin

318  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin capital fleeing to Ethereum? on: February 01, 2018, 12:34:47 PM
Right now Bitcoin have a market cap of $172B, and for Ethereum it's $110B.

because bitcoin has 16,800,000 coins while ethereum has 97,330,000 coins. that is 5.79x more supply while it has 0.63x bitcoin's market cap!

What do supply and market cap have to do with eachother? The only thing it shows is that the value per coin is lower for a higher supply coin..

market cap is supply multiplied by the price Wink
↑ supply => ↑ M.C
319  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another slump, do you buy BTC at the bottom this time? on: February 01, 2018, 12:24:32 PM
the sell pressure is too much for now to have any kind of rise in my opinion. it doesn't seem to be coming from normal sources either. i'm afraid we might have a longer downtime than previously anticipated.
