Of course there can be life after "death"
We have material and energy but most important then that, we have conscience!
The conscience is our soul.
The conscience is stored in microtubules.
After "death" It is released in cosmos
The sciences think conscience is flowing in cosmos
The Christians ( and not only) think conscience it returns to Creator.
The materialists ( as atheists or others) think nothing but even that they have conscience.

How do you know that?

If you take some quantum view, you might find that consciousness can entangle itself in most everything

Discovery of quantum vibrations in 'microtubules' inside brain neurons supports controversial theory of consciousness

Then... Could mean that all consciousness is entangled with everything, thus everything is consciousness, not simply trapped in our brain? Maybe that vibration is how the instrument that is our brain is acting like a FM radio and that vibration is the frequency of reception?

Possibly entangled in degrees. I can dig what you're (we're) tuning into Smiley

You may find the notion that consciousness is not simply tied to our brains to be worth considering

There is a branch of science that is neurocardiology and some research in the field suggests that the brain is not the only seat of consciousness. Interestingly, the EM field radiating from the heart (when I was still in college we learned that MRI brain scanning had to be corrected against the EM field from the heart) is some non-insignificant size bigger than the brain, and also, the heart is the first organ to form during development.

Also, your gut probably also is a seat of consciousness.

Considering that consciousness isn't localized to just the brain might allow a framework towards extending consciousness to the rest of the Universe

Let a person die for an hour, see if he/she comes back.

Brain without oxygenated blood will be dead (or severely damaged) within 10 minutes.

Cell death is irreversible.

The exception I can think of is when someone 'drowns' in very cold water.  Usually a child with low body mass.  I've heard what seem to be fairly credible reports of long-ish periods of 'death' in such circumstances with a reasonable recovery.  I think I heard of a stow-away in a jet aircraft who achieved a similar result.  I'd point out though that someone who would climb into the landing gear of a jet liner probably didn't start out with a very high level of brain function in the first place.

If entropy uniformity doesn't change too drastically (e.g. H2O in blood et al. crystallizing and expanding when frozen), all it is is a slowing down of continuing metabolic processes.

The "Goldilocks" zone. Heh. Question for you guys: do you think if we observed one of those planets where life is just starting, that life would proceed in approximately the same way it theoretically did on Earth? Or would the life be fundamentally different perhaps? Would there be mammals, bacteria, viruses, amphibians, or something else completely? Given the environment is relatively the same.

many factors is on the line if life is ever to start on a planet that is in a Goldilocks zone.
even if the environment is the same to the in the planet in question.

The rate of living on other planets might also drastically be slower[/faster] than we can detect, implying that what we think is the Goldilocks zone is relative.

i just asked her, and she isn't willing to get married but not signing any papers...

" huh? thats the whole point of getting married, it must be legely binding "

the clock is ticking

i'm fucked

and i'm fairly certain i will NOT be able to propose within that time frame or any fucking time frame.

so basically i have a few months left with her until i can't delay any further and i MUST come clean say somthing like

" today i moved out all my stuff from your place, as much as i love you we both want different things and because of that we could never really work out, i'm sorry it had to be this way, i mean if only your head wasn't so damn hard... grrr.... i'm sorry... goodbye."

is that good?

Whoa, drastic for my tastes as I tend more towards Wu-Wei, but I support you either way

"I can't marry you if you're [seemingly] forcing me to marry you" seems a little more concise :p

Where do aliens fall in aspects to the bible BADecker?
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::;;::;::::::::::

You imagine all the aspects we would have to re-open once aliens come on the scene. They better be sexy!

As I have said before, aliens are really angels. The evil ones fall, and are now called demons. The good ones are sent by God at times, to help mankind.

People on earth are the only sentient beings in the universe who often don't formally acknowledge God. We are way behind on the scale of beings that get things done. And as long as any of us remain in a position of not accepting God, we will remain in a position of not getting things done, relatively.

Cool

I do not understand how GOD can create reality itself and yet limit consciousness in beings in one lonely planet. But that just me...

There are possibly countless numbers of usable planets out there. Forever is a long time, and God set this universe up to last that long, and if mankind hadn't turned away from God, it would have.

If mankind had never fallen into sin, those planets would be places for us to go to when populations reached something like standing room only on earth. There would be no human death. Adam and Eve would have been first to go out there, because they were the parents of mankind in general, and would have been honored in that way.

There are hints in the Bible that there are beings out there that are custodians of celestial places until mankind gets there. They are less than angels. But they are greater than human beings. They are fully aware of God, and many of them are His enemy. What would happen to them if mankind reached the stars? Who knows? It is irrelevant, however. We'll never make it before we destroy ourselves.

The thing that we threw away when we fell into sin! But don't blame Adam and Eve entirely. After all, most of the rest of us have great moments of weak faith in God. And a number of us don't want to believe in God at all.

Cool

Considering that scale, a wedding doesn't really cost that much.
true ~100 people wedding is small ( maybe on the larger spectrum of "small wedding"?? )
but if selling your left kidney wont cover the cost... i think its considered "expensive".

What if we figured out anti-aging and you could live forever? Does that change your views on marriage?
no? why would it?

Good, then can you just tell her that you want to plan it right to do it right, at the right time?
she already knows i dont really want to get married.
she understands that i'm not ready for marriage right now, but she thinks i might change my mind....
she says that either we end up getting married or we break up.
so i'm kinda forced to conclude the only thing left for me to do is break up...

Yikes, ultimatum

Tongue "If you're not too long, I will wait for you all my life."

Why does she want to get married?

Also, probably relatedly, what if she left you (because you weren't "ready right now")?

getting married is one of her "life goals".

in a year or two if i'm still saying "not ready right now" i imagine she would leave me.

i have months to think about this ultimatum.

If she left you just because you weren't ready, isn't that kind of on her?...

Maybe she's just afraid you don't really love her or something because you don't (yet) know if you want to marry her, which is BS but understandable, and probably something that can be talked through

Please Support the Monero Stack Exchange!

http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/98617/monero

TLDR:

1. Go to the above site (make an account if necessary) and follow using the orange button on top left.
2. Upvote a question you think should be on a Monero stack exchange site

Why start a Stack Exchange?

Monero is tough. Its tough for developers, its tough for users. Its tough for developers because the original code from bytecoin was purposefully undocumented, so when a person wants to work with Monero, they have to figure out how the code works first. This usually involves going to #monero-dev on IRC, but not everyone has time to do that, and sometimes the person with the answer isn't sitting in the chatroom. Hell, the monero community funded someone to go through and document the code - this is the state of things. Developing for Monero is tough.

Its tough for users in two ways - the primary client is command line only, and any current third party solution requires some fiddling. Sure, the GUI may solve this issue. The second way it is tough is its conceptually difficult. Hell, I still don't understand ring signatures or the upcoming ringCT, but I'm not a cryptographer. Will a SE fix this issue? Probably not. But it will create some good answers that may help.

What can a stack exchange do that this forum, our forum, or reddit can't?

It can provide a knowledge base of information that is easily updated, curated, and searchable. The problem with reddit, or this forum, or our forum, is that information gets lost. Unless debruyne is available to serve up one of his bookmarks for a given answer, 9 times out of 10 you won't be able to search through the forums or Reddit to find an answer to a problem. More likely than not, someone had the same question you did, and someone provided an answer. But now that answers is gone. It wasn't added to our knowledge base on getmonero.org, and its lost in a thread.

With a stack exchange, a good question may lead to a good answer, and both the question and the answer get upvoted, and this information is findable in the future. Some random person that feels like tweaking monero a bit to increase its functionality can get all their questions answered without going to the chatrooms, because some people just don't like doing that I guess.

So, please goto the stackexchange, and vote on things that are under 10.

AmericanPegasus, this is definitely your worst post ever.  You're all in on altcoins (god knows why anyone would do that) and Monero is coming to a triangle convergence, so now you're making bullshit posts about Bitcoin because if Bitcoin went up, Monero would automatically converge downwards.

You should have known better than to try and get away with a post like this when you know I post in this section.  Bitcoin was rock stable at $420 for months, so there's no way your claim can happen.  The worst case scenario it could do is something like $440.  You even drew an arrow to the closure of Silk Road on top of it to elevate the bullshit to the extreme.  The Monero chart is the real reason you made this post.  There is no reason anyone should be holding altcoins during the BTC halving unless they want to lose money, so please, don't make up nonsense to try and prevent alts from going down

IIRC, BFX longs are at record levels and it is certainly possible those longs get squeezed.
