Also, who remembers the $1k Bitcoin party...

I do. Didn't last long though.

It wasn't the most fun for me as I was coming to realize I wasn't going to get my 50 coins back from Gox and I had <100 coins left.

Luckily 2014-5 gave me the opportunity to buy back many more than I lost.

This time I was much calmer. The day my Bitcoin stash was first worth over $1mCAD, I spent $1.2k on a new ultra-light powerful bass amp (bought with fiat) and had a few beverages.

I'm still gonna wait for the price to double a few more times before getting into my stash and making any real purchases. Anything under $10m is still just comfortable. I'd like to experience being rich before I get too old to enjoy it.

Over $9.8k both Stamp and Finex.

Go Bitcoin go.

Hahahahahaha

That does look like what would be a younger version of Jimbo...

Finally. Another ATH.
3046  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 28, 2017, 01:41:09 AM
This is how real Bitcoiners amuse themselves during those boring times between ATHs... by laughing at Roger Ver.

I can't help but find it hilarious that Ver calls everyone except himself and Jihan Wu "brainwashed by social media" while he's obviously been thoroughly brainwashed by Wu.

3048  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top 20 days for Bitcoin on: November 28, 2017, 12:41:55 AM
Another fine day... 3 consecutive jackpots and a couple more milestones.

GBP broke 7k while CAD broke 12k only a day after breaking 11k.

Life is good in Bitcoinland. Go Bitcoin go.

3051  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where can I check pre-ICO prices of already ended ICOs? on: November 27, 2017, 09:33:09 PM
You might be better off looking in the altcoin section:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67.0

There are no ICOs in Bitcoin.

...the good ole days, when the price was in the $1k range...

Lawl. Earlier this year, you mean.  Cheesy

For years we dreamed of quadruple digits. Before that we dreamed of triple digits.

Now a grand a coin is the "good ole days". As a Canadian, 5 digits is becoming old hat. Now it's 6 digits or be damned.

Aren't we the spoiled little brats.  Grin
_______

Bedtime for me. Hopefully by morning (noon) we'll have digested this little profit-taking/consolidation and we'll be back on track toward $10k.
3053  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 27, 2017, 08:45:23 AM
I usually look at bitstamp and coinmarketcap for my USD prices.

Does anyone know why they are always about 200 USD apart since a few days?

At the moment: Bitstamp: 9600, Coinmarketcap: 9770

Bitstamp is an individual exchange. It is sometimes referred to as Bearstamp because its prices are often lower than other exchanges. The prices at different exchanges vary greatly due to location, features and other considerations.

Coinmarketcap is a price indexing service like Bitcoinaverage, Preev, or the Coindesk BPI. These indexing services use averages from multiple exchanges, weighted by volumes.

I only use  Coinmarketcap for altcoins because I find that Bitcoinaverage gives a truer indication of global prices, as it averages more exchanges and excludes volumes from zero-fee exchanges. Bitcoinaverage is also the base price used by the majority of BTC ATMs here in Toronto, so to me it's most representative of real-world prices.

Something that seems to have gone unnoticed around here is that the total crypto market cap blew right past a quarter trillion dollars and is now approaching $.3t.

We waited a long time for this. Is the adoption curve getting close to going vertical?
3055  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 27, 2017, 12:43:14 AM
Oh looky. It's another ATH at Stamp.

I love how honey badger shook off the correction/profit-taking so quickly and moved right on up with not a sign of panicking.

Let's see $10k. Go Bitcoin go.
3056  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mark Cuban douchebag on: November 27, 2017, 12:35:28 AM
They're TV actors. It's their job to be idiots.

Don't take them seriously.
3057  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top 20 days for Bitcoin on: November 27, 2017, 12:29:52 AM
Nice. That's 2 consecutive jackpots and 3 landmarks... over 9k USD, over 11k CAD, and over 1m JPY.

Bravo. Go Bitcoin go.

About your user name, are you a big fan of Doc Cox?  Grin

I'm a big fan of the wanker's song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqJHoZBJYxI

I didn't discover Biggun/Cox until the 1980s and wore out the cassette tape playing it for people.

My favorite was called "I Can't Stand It" and it was about being teased by jailbait, no hint of pedophilia or anything. Just the opposite... it was about trying to avoid it. Instead of his usual banjo/ukulele skiffle schtick, it was set to a rock & roll beat.

"Oooh ooh ooh, you're much to young to screw, but when you do the things you do, I can't stand it..."

Unfortunately it didn't seem to make it onto Youtube.
3059  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 26, 2017, 08:22:59 PM
Tell them to buy sats instead, they're cheaper than doge at only $0.000091 each. They can buy 100,000 sats for about $9.

I was gonna say the same thing. Why dick around with millibitcoins, which naturally sound small when you can use satoshis, which sound more important.

I'd rather just use bitcoins. If people can't figure out basic grade-school arithmetic, perhaps they shouldn't be messing around with Bitcoin.

Maybe gasoline should be sold by the milliliter or ounce instead of by the liter or gallon, to keep the price down.  Roll Eyes

Gotta love these nice little corrections as we go. It was almost starting to look like entering bubble territory.

I don't mind catching our breath. While $10k today seems nice, I'd be happy with seeing it by month's end.

Finishing today over $9k would be just fine.
