Have a read of this: It is no secret that our current difficulty solution is being exploited by the multipools to take the value of out Feathercoin mining. They use our solution against us to mine without moving the difficulty by much. Wrapper and Wellenreiter have spent a long time simulating our current problem and coming up with better solutions. What we have come down to is a much shorter retarget and the use of two averages compared to just the one. We suffer from 'peck' attacks as Wrapper likes to put it, where the multipool throw a huge number of hashes at us for a small amount of time. Due to the 126 block retarget and the 504 average they can do this and leave the difficulty pretty much where it is but this does leave the difficulty higher overall removing room for loyal miners. It is hard to convince people to mine Feathercoin when the profit is so low due to the way multipools mine us. For a while the current difficulty solution did its job but the multipools have now looked at how to maximise their profits and the cost to regular Feathercoin miners. With the new solution we hope to see a significant increase in the amount of coins that can be mined by regular miners as the effect of 'peck' attacks will be greatly reduced. In addition to this something that was raised in the past is increasing the block time. This allows us to react faster to the 'peck' attack over a smaller amount of time. The coin reward has to be reduced proportional to the time reduction. Blocks that are too fast suffer from a large number of orphan blocks being created. The orphan rate drops off significantly at 45-50 seconds and we aim for a block time target of 60 seconds to be safe. Kevlar pointed out before that shortening the block time reduces the risk of double spends. We would also be the fastest coin on BTC-e so that's an additional feather in our cap. Block reward will be reduced to 80 coins to maintain our current inflation model. Soure: https://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php?/topic/6697-dev-hard-fork-to-change-retarget-averages-and-block-time/Unfortunately, because Cryptos are now a serious emerging sector, you have to expect these kind of attacks/exploits more. In fact, Cryptos are the near-perfect tax avoidance/evasion tool! So you can imagine this kind of stuff happening even more because of the potential high-reward. Unfortunately it has been proven lately that bitcoin is more traceable that most of other payments. That's why darkcoin project has been launched.

That's true.... happened to doge after it halved and never recovered since. It used to easile be traded for 200+ sats even on a bad day. When it halved, instead of the prices doubling, the miners left for other coins that could be sold for more profit. The whole miner psychology is usually never long term. Its to be sold in 2-3 days and if next day you made half the coins, but nobody want to pay double the price for it, its on a downhill path. Profit calculators websites will further accellerate it.
Almost exactly the same time as the halving (and the start of the price drop) is when Doge was changed to be 5% inflationary forever. I think that is the real reason for the long downtrend. In case of doge is the hype fading away. But the market usually thinks ahead about the halving so by the time it occurs it's already priced in.

To the casual consumer of McMedia happy meals, the Ukrainian crisis is a consequence of Russia’s yearning for empire lost, a Nazi-style Anschluss that began with Crimea and will end, judging by the big-font hysteria, somewhere near Alaska.
For the more sober-minded observer, however, whose worldview has not been vandalized by misguided Russophobic inclinations, the reality of the situation is a bit more complicated. Some of the US brands, such as McDonalds are quite popular in Russia. Russian nationalists should engage in a non-violent campaign aimed at the total boycott of such brands. And they should stop using computers and phones. And they shouldn't use their oil also because more than 25% is mined with german and dutch rigs ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) time to quote the manic:

Look at the walls of sale mintpal 80K, the whale is calling all to 80K again, who sell now will be gunned!!!
Shouting like this usually creates the opposite effect. The coin will recover slowly by itself after the small bubble we had.

Russians are good at black humour. That's what got the nation through a Civil War, Stalin's repressions, WWII and all kinds of other hardships both before and after.
-Whats was colder that cold water during the Ceausescu regime? -Hot water ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) We share this thing with the humor.

The coin has shown time and time again that once those with weak hands have dumped (and granted there are a lot of them today) it levels out and then rockets upwards sometimes 2 or 300% in a day. I think 25,000 is the new floor here - things are leveling out - there is only so much that can be dumped before the buying must start again.
Those weren't weak hands. Those were smart hands. I've sold also and managed to buy back 150% of the coins plus a nice profit! I've had enough of the strong hands since december when i hodl like an idiot.

What are the reasons for this coin's price going up lately?
Has the PoW period done and is it under pure PoS now?
How many total coins have been distributed so far? Have all coins been distributed already?
oh come on.. can't people read first page? that's why we had the newbie jail

I am not sure if this is just manufactured FUD or if AuroraCoin is a premine scam, can you guys answer some of these questions?
Did the Dev's dump the premine on the exchanges? Did any Icelanders receive the AirDrop? Are the Dev's the same Dev's from Panda?
If non of these questions are relevant can you guys explain what's happening with AuroraCoin?
No/Yes/Probably no

I have 3200 BC that is it so no big deal for me... but I still want to help this coin reach its maximum potential.
I have been watching this coin for only 5 days and it sure as hell has been very, very exciting. But I am one of those people that don't trust anybody and will plaster here my paranoia for all to scrutinize.
1. The stakes on this Coin are HUGE.. anything is possible... I would strongly suggest that if you are a strong believer of this coin you take ALL OF YOUR COINS out of the market so no one can play with them, or borrow them, or steal them to manipulate the market. In Wall Street this is called shorting a stock and is used by big players to manipulate the market. The market manipulation can destroy the confidence and also crush a stock or in this case a coin.
2. This kind of manipulation can come from someone with lots of funds who also believes in the coin and is willing to take it to extremes. For example this coin could be dumped back down to 5 satoshi and kept there until he accumulates all of the weak holders coins. When the capitulation volume is reached then he brings the price back up and will be much richer WHALE! Now if you combine this with such factors as tiny market and an exchange not able to function with such huge volumes... you are looking at some very dangerous situations.
I hope that I am wrong about this but since crypto is not regulated like a real stock market... I think anything is possible and the risk is too high.
3. This kind of manipulation could also come from the opposite angle. Assuming again someone with big funds wants to kill this coin so that HIS coin can be the one that shines above all. Imagine the same scenario of SHORTING this tiny baby and selling the coin until panic and all psychological damage destroys the confidence while his coin rises above all.
Again I hope I am wrong but crypto is not regulated and anything can happen. Today volume and price manipulation reminded me of wall street shorting actions.
MY SUGGESTION: If you are a strong believer of this coin please remove your coins from the market and put them safely away so no one can touch them until this has matured!
First, you can't short cryptos directly and second, no single "whale" has enough BC to dump to take it down to 5 sat. How do you know that you cant short cryptos? Who guarantees that fair game is being played? YOU? I said directly. Read better. I read correctly but who are you assure people that cryptos can not be shorted? you can short BTC at plus500 and bitfinex But not alts. you said cryptos not alts
