Windy is hardly a perma bear, he's one of the few here who actually changes his opinion after weighing up what the market is doing.  He was very bullish for the second half of last year, even before the upturn in November.

Everyone seems to be in denial (cue pictures of Egyptians) at the moment but what he is saying is pretty basic -- people have to buy BTC for the price to go up and there is no new currency on the order books, the bid/sum ratio is creeping back to 1:2.

Everyone seems to think the toothfairy is going to wave her magic wand and buy 50K BTC out of nowhere (but I suspect she is a bit disillusioned with BTC and its associate fraudsters, dodgy exchanges, bans and bad press).

Now, more than ever, its time to realise BTC is about the technology not the currency.

Never use everyone , everything...
It sounds like you're the only one holding the supreme truth and this is hardly the case.

Besides , you shoudn't take this board as a model of how the market feels. I doubt that more than 10% of the top 10 traders and holders of BTC use this forum frequently.

Isn't it ironic that the libertarian bitcoiners, champions of laissez-faire capitalism, are betting all their life savings on the hope that the Satoshi Bitcoin will be one day the only cryptocurrency in the market, so that they can charge monopoly prices for it?

No , it's ironic that from February till now you haven't understand what BTC is really about.Smiley

They still have to decide is it going to be just one big motor-railway bridge, or somewhat smaller bridge and a tunnel. Anyway, total costs may climb up to staggering 3 billion $  Shocked

Still much cheaper when compared to the Adler–Krasnaya Polyana road (28 miles long, cost almost $7 billion).  With Putin, corruption is always a major concern. He will make sure that the contract goes to his friends only.  Angry

You didn't say that... did you?
So they've changed one corrupt government for another corrupt government, just as I said two months ago Smiley. Welcome to mother Russia Smiley.

And China for the 20th time killed an uptrend. But hey, let's just keep following a dying exchange. The sheep can't wait to completely totally go full retard when Huobi gets closed down one of these days.

They will kill it 28 or even 38 times (numbers signify prosperity) until they will finally run out of luck.

Every day I see those volumes on huobi I wonder how the hell is anyone believing the trade volume is not manipulated.

It's a dying exchange with limited amounts of depositing and the volume is still the in the same % comparing to the others.

But unfortunately, I believe we will see people (sheep for you Smiley)  watching huobi even after the next chinese year.
2404  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [BDG] [BADGERCOIN] FIRST X11 POW/POS Hybrid - 8d POW left - 4 EXCHANGES on: May 02, 2014, 11:25:16 AM

You should really list the exchanges you get your prices from , if not with hyperlinks just plain text so people have a clue where the data is coming from.
2405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.6 HARDFORK MANDATORY UPDATE on: May 02, 2014, 11:22:06 AM

Goodness, someone wants doge to stay down for a little while. On cryptsy, it will take 419 BTC to move Doge up 8 satoshi to 120.
Those are some heavy hitters.

An, as I said 2 weeks ago, halving isnt good for the coin.... see nethash....

And as I said 2 months ago and one week ago , halving won't do anything major to the price...
The market already priced the events in. My only doubt is about the Dogecar
2406  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Risk of nuclear accidents is rising, says report on near-misses on: May 02, 2014, 11:04:29 AM
How about sharing the water equally?  I know I know it seems silly and simple.  From my point of view the same could be said about unnecessary death and nuclear war.

So let's say India has enough water for 1 billion people.  They need water for 1.2 billion people.

They can easily get the water for 1.2 billion people by building more dams.

Are they going to let 200,000,000 people die for Pakistan?  When they have the power to prevent those deaths?  A leader would have to be insane to come to an agreement to let two hundred million people die.  Meanwhile those dams will cause 200 million people to die in Pakistan.

I tell you my friend - there is a finite supply of water and not enough to go around.  War is inevitable.

Let's believe for a bit in science?
Improved fusion reactor and desalination plants might overcome this problem.

So now that the Chinese have finally calmed down a little , do we get series of FUD from the gox ghost?
I don't see how those news could affect the price.  The MtGOX drama has slowed down to court speed, so it will be a year or more before it moves any coins or changes the market's perception of bitcoin's future.

By the way, is there any estimate of the amount of bitcoins (and other altcoins) currently sitting in all the exchanges' wallets?  More importantly, of the coins "on the market" -- in the those wallets, or in the hands of traders who could quickly bring them in for speculative trade?  It would be interesting to compare that to the MtGOX heist...

Probably not..
But with the last incident involving sheepmarket someone mistakenly traced one of btc-e addresses
https://blockchain.info/address/1CbR8da9YPZqXJJKm9ze1GYf67eKAUfXwP

It did hold over 90k coins at one moment.

But it would be a pain in the ass to keep track of these coins ...
2408  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Crimea on: May 02, 2014, 10:53:10 AM
This is a good thing from my viewpoint.  I don't dare say I know what is best but I think this is up there on my list for what could be considered a positive outcome to a very serious problem.

You just sound like a politician.
You express you concern you are welcoming the results whatever it might be but at the same point you're not saying to much to make people quote you in the future about your political "view" in case you were wrong.

WTF?  Which is it?

Common , don't ask him serious questions about his posts.
He's a FUD dispenser that whenever Bitcoin drops 10$ is coming to the board and start it's posts about the end.

If he was here when Gox was hacked he would have probably collapsed of joy if not worse.
2410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1,000,000 bits = 1 bitcoin. Future-proofing Bitcoin for common usage? VOTE on: May 02, 2014, 10:44:26 AM
I really like bits.  For one, you can have a conversation with bits.  mBTC and uBTC is awkward; mBTC is worse as it doesn't roll off the tongue well, uBTC isn't as bad.  But bits is 1 syllable, rather than 4.  It's also easier to type, as it's all lowercase.  And you get two decimal spots, which everyone's already accustomed to.  Not that we'd need them anytime soon but perhaps someday.

Perhaps we could make a lowercase bitcoin symbol to represent bits.

Totally agree with you on this one.
It seems that the few attempts so far to change to mBTC have not been that successful , let's see if we try and switch to this "bits" how will end up.

The only issue with this that  I see right now is that the value of a "bit" will be that low it will create a few problems. Plus the prices will look a bit hilarious =12 612 651 bits?  A bit like the Zimbabwe dollar.
And i'm sure we can get a cool symbol for it , w8 Smiley

The non-statist version: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=590970.0
Looks like the plan IS to get the police in.
Very interesting read indeed.

(But what a funny definition of "police" you have got there...  Wink)

Interesting that Sunlot is based in Cyprus.  Could perhaps there be a connection to mysterious Mr. Brewster, whose past before going to Cyprus seems to be clouded in mystery denser than Mr. Karpelès's frappucinos?

Police is an institution, like State or Law or Church. From the Gendarmery to the SS or Three-Letter-Acronym-Agencies. They are state mandated violence (not debating right or wrong here).

I don't think there's anything remarkable about Cyprus. It's just the perfect place to run a hit-and-run money operation and that's why EVERYONE uses Cyprus.

So now that the Chinese have finally calmed down a little , do we get series of FUD from the gox ghost?

Also I thought that Cyprus was no longer a safe heaven for hit and run  stuff , and that since last April Smiley.
2412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: May 02, 2014, 10:36:04 AM
it would nice to include in the footnotes where the data comes from. is this all cryptsy data?

Just click on the volume of any coin and you'll be redirected to this page :
http://coinmarketcap.com/volume.html

There you can check from what exchanges the data is coming.

Think you're the first person I've seen switch from Ritz back to PD.

Actually no, I'm not the only one. But has nothing to to with payment or rates it's more personal.

There's been one or two that switch back and forth between PD and Ritz's deal so maybe that's what this guy is doing.

While I did switch to ritz on the 22 or so I think it was a bit of mistake my part ... see above  very short explanation. Wink

It is interesting that even if 30,000 NEW adopters a DAY will emerge  then it is only 11,000,000 per YEAR ... ( and only 110 millions per 10 YEARS witch is not even  2% of population )

I'm looking at the bright side,  even if you just started acquiring your BTC you will still be called an early adopter 10 years from now Smiley.
2416  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 01, 2014, 10:09:34 PM
Igorr posting graphs of price crashing , this is a bullish sign.
If we start ignoring China also , we're on the right way .. to the moon!!! Smiley.

I have received the payment with no problem and I must congratulate Ritz for this.(Left some feedback also).
But I will not participate in this campaign during this month.

this will suffer the same fate as bluecoin.

Wait a moment!
There was actually a coin named bluecoin? Same pow then pos principle?

White, blue and yellow.
Same dev.
Same shit.

 Wink

Well , whitecoin at least hit the exchanges and it did a bit of volume.
This one looks like a failure and the blue one , well , never heard of it.

Will have to credit him with a 33% success rate.

I think Illuminati are known as Bilderberg Group these days.Am I wrong?

Every damn time somebody needs a conspiracy theory it has to throw in the Illuminati . Just because the name is kind'f cool.
But really , nobody has a real clue if what who when those guys are .
