How about Vod Blamer?
Im blaming Vod for this thread.

Don't drag user's name into this.

If you really like it, put "Vid blamer" in personal message.
3142  Other / New forum software / Re: New rank? on: April 12, 2015, 10:28:33 AM
Can I suggest an opposite thing (related with the ranks). Why not decrease the activity when an user been banned (for spam reason) this should improve the quality of all the posts and I am sure the users will put more attention in what they write here (in the forum). That was just my personal opinion and I don't think it is necessary to add a new rank, but I am still supporting the color for each rank.

It should be good idea. What if the ban was for PM spam? Does this still apply or only for "substantial posts"?

P.S. Admins should tell about this in the ban notice or else, we will have to see many threads in Meta.
3143  Other / Meta / Re: Report Comment Field on: April 12, 2015, 10:25:45 AM
I have not seen any character limit in the "report comment field" and mostly my reports consist of a single word or two "Spam". The rest I leave on the moderator to judge the comment and delete it or leave it. It's tough though to write in a single line text box and I need to press the home and end buttons to re-read my reports.

IMHO you should add more details when reporting. For example, if you just add "wrong section" and if mods see any other reports about this topic, they will move to correct section. When they do, your report will go to another mod's queue. When he looks, he mostly likely will mark your report as "bad" as the thread is in correct section and mod won't know whether you made the report when it was in other section.

Borrowed from BadBear's post.

P.S. This wouldn't be a problem if you don't care accuracy rating.

BadBear's post is better than mine:

I don't know if I get you exactly. If it goes from hilariousandco's queue to mprep's, how could the report be handled? Can he know if the report was moved earlier or should he have to look modlog? If modlog is the choice, the limitation of the actions showing will affect, right?

Educated guess. If the report just says "wrong section", and at that point it's in the right section, it's probably going to be marked as a bad report. If it says "move to alt currencies", or "is not bitcoin discussion" then he'll probably know what happened and mark it as handled. It's not exactly an uncommon thing, and the mods are smart folks.

It's part of the reason why people shouldn't stress over percentage points.
3144  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: PLEASE Backup your wallet! A Paper Backup is *Forever*! on: April 12, 2015, 10:16:36 AM
newb question.  Is it necessary to update core and armory for every new instance if you have cold storage watch only wallets that you don't use often...beyond adding funds?

It is your choice. However, you should at least update Bitcoin core and Armory when they release critical updates.

3146  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do islam hates people? on: April 12, 2015, 09:55:05 AM
Thank you, Spendulus for your inputs! I still think there is something bad on "destroying" "every" copies and I don't think they are "useless" or "unneeded" "documents". Anyway, I don't think there is much we can do about this and it is hard to find the truth. We can believe the widely-known belief now.

Yes, there are millions of muslims out there, therefore the hateful muslim extremists that go around doing that jihad shit are a minority, the problem is, you even know who is on the process of becoming a radical, about to blow himself up in hopes to get some after life pussy. Jesus christ, what a bunch of nutjobs, it never gets any less insane no matter how many times you reduce the whole thing for what it is.
The problem with Islam regarding Muslim extremists is, because of the words that express hate and violence in the Quran and Hadith (or seem to), Islam can be interpreted by sincere extremists to be a religion of violence, or it can be used as an excuse for violence by insincere extremists. Sometimes the two groups are mixed, the insincere Muslims using the sincere ones.

Smiley

Do you know what "extremists" mean, don't you?! "Islamic extremists" are often used in a "false way", in a single word "misused", nowadays. As I mentioned a few times, "extremists" bother to spend most of their time to "pray" and do other "must do" things such as Zakat, Fast etc... "Extremists" will know almost every rules and teachings of Islam but muslim terrorists contradicts these rules and teachings. Still they are "extremists"? I don't think so.

Some time back I was walking along a beach in a very popular tourist spot.  To my right was the beach with all the girls sunning topless. Hundreds.  As far as you could see.  To my right was some Muslim guy walking along sort of angry looking.  Behind him trailed four women with just the eye-slits burka things.

I started wondering about stuff.  If he had four did that mean that there were three guys somewhere (where ever he came from) that didn't get any?  That'd make them rather crazy.

Maybe they'd go for that after-life pussy then.
Well just going by the stats there would be more than three that didn't get any(there are Muslims who have more than 3 women too) and plus the male to female ratio is not at all balanced.

What if one woman was his wife and others were his sisters or cousins or one wife, one mom and one sister? There are many possibilities too. And yes, It is also possible they are all his wives.

To answer your statement: A muslim is permitted to have upto 4 women at a time but even with two wives, it is hard to do justice to them. I read Islamic teachings when you have more than one wife, I must say, it is really hard. I don't even think about having more than 1 wife that time forth.

Male to female ratio is unbalanced not because of muslims "only".
3147  Other / Meta / Re: How to know the account has been banned in the past ? on: April 12, 2015, 08:51:05 AM
There is no publicly listed ban list. There's a modlog that list the latest activities but It's not publicly monitored by the forum.

Just make sure that you don't do something over the top with the account like too much spamming and you won't receive a ban.

All bans listed in "Deletion log" are permanent bans. So it won't work for OP. There is a chance that Admin undo ban after appealing, it can be found by searching because theses days, appeals are done by posting in Meta.

Oh, Sincerely thanks. I think that your way is very good to know a certain account banned . However, almost when buying an account , we do not know
what is its username ? Seller usually don't reveal it to us. So we can't check that account's post history.

Use an escrow who will check quality of posts of the account you are buying.

P.S.

Most seller will not reveal the username of the account, this will be like hitting for jackpot in search of an account with good post history, best thing you can do is to buy account from some reputed member like quickseller, although there will still be no guarantee to that

Quickseller and ACCTseller stopped their account sale.
3148  Other / New forum software / Re: New rank? on: April 12, 2015, 08:42:33 AM
Yes , new rank can be added. And at least it should be about 2000 activity.

But also some changes are needed for activity system.
For ex: 1 post in gambling should nt be equal to some post in discussions topic. Maybe,  also like system can affect activity more than regular posts.

Anyway,  my rank name suggestions are Students of Satoshi (SoS) , or Sub-Satoshi  Grin

Posts in all boards should be treated equally for activity/posts.

Sub-satoshi isn't good and it may confuse others. -1.
3149  Other / Meta / Re: Please No (Hard) Drug Avatars on: April 12, 2015, 08:38:56 AM
No, I'm not. I'm referring to the avatar you have for your account. That everyone can see including people such as the OP as well as other people not willing to make posts or threads about it. Your user title has little to do with anything. Its like showing a meth addict smoking a pipe saying "don't try this at home kids".  Not trying to be an ass, but just have respect for other people.

What if I told you that I have a need to look at the crystals with a daily reminder of I DO NOT CONSENT in order to not relapse myself?

I don't think that is plausible. If you were looking at a dead man or injured man and some drugs near to him with a daily reminder*, it may help you. What you said now doesn't work IMHO. You may like to use that avatar, but you should also consider other's request. I hope you will.

* I am not saying to put it, just an example.

=snip=
would I paralyze Bitcoin Core - Wallet by uninstalling Bitcoin-Qt?

Thoughts . . .

Nope. It won't but it is better to make a backup before you do something.

Are 2 Bitcoin core installations showing in "Programs and Features"? When I install latest version, it usually overwrite old version. In your case, probably, it didn't overwrite because of a big difference in version. I maybe wrong though.
3151  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need to know more about cold storage on: April 12, 2015, 06:03:46 AM
first of all the wallet does not contain anything, but just private key that you need to access to your bitcoin in the blockchain

imagines that the wallet is like a bunch of keys and the blockchain is a chain of many safe box all connected, inside every safe box there are 25 btc(those 25 can belongs to multiple person)

now to retrieve those you need the correct key associated(or many keys for every box, if the btc inside it belongs to more than one person, which is usually the case)

if you have the key you can access the box with your funds and if your funds are splitted among many safe box, you need more key

so you actually never transfer anything to an offline wallet, you transfer them to the correct safe box, which your key is associated with

First, I though you meant "blocks" by saying "box", then when you said "keys", I understand you were saying about addresses. If it is, see below.

Okay I think I see where your confusion is.
So for your cold storage address all you need is the public key aka bitcoin address. This can be generated completely offline, the only thing you need to do is then go to your hot wallet and send coins to that cold address you just created. Now your coins are in an address where the private key has never seen the internet. The transaction will be on the blockchain, and everyone running a node will know that you sent bitcoin to that address.

Bitcoins aren't stored in Bitcoin "addresses", coins are stored in "blocks". However,

"It's also important to note that the blockchain technically doesn't store "coins" it stores transaction information. The coins themselves are not discrete things which need storage."

So how where are Bitcoins stored? Technically, "nowhere".

"When coins are sent from A to B, that transaction subtracts from A's balance and adds to B's balance. This is similar to the way that your employer may, via EFT, send "money" to your bank and you can use your debit card to spend that "money" in a store, all without anyone ever seeing a discrete physical dollar bill. Most money in the world today exists merely as transaction histories and balances - Bitcoin is no exception."
3152  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: making mining pool problems on: April 12, 2015, 05:58:49 AM
am i to guess that i cant start mining on the pool until the entire block chains down etc ??
got all compiled cant run stratum till block chains downloaded

Yes, you can't. You can't earn anything from it unless you have a lot of miners but you can learn from it.
3153  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NO Miracles in Koran on: April 12, 2015, 05:29:03 AM
So.. Islam is great and peacefull..

Yes but some people aren't.

Lets make some muhammed drawings,

Isn't what you are saying UAE laws rather than Islamic laws?

lets drink some alcohol and let woman do what they want and dress as they like.

You shouldn't dress as you like unless you are wearing normal dress of the place you live.

Oh shit.. People in Dubai got in prison for drinking

There isn't a rule in Islam to imprison someone for drinking alcohol. It is UAE law. And alcoholic drinks and drugs aren't allowed in Islam because it is the door of bad habits.

UAE law:

Drugs

There is zero tolerance for drugs-related offences. The penalties for drug trafficking, smuggling and possession, of even residual amounts, of drugs are severe. Sentences for drug trafficking can include the death penalty and possession of even the smallest amount of illegal drugs can lead to a minimum 4-year jail sentence. The Emirati authorities count the presence of drugs in the blood stream as possession. You should take care over the import of prescription drugs, some over-the-counter drugs and certain substances known as herbal highs, such as Spice or Space, which can include synthetic cannabinoids.

Many people stop off in UAE airports on their way to other destinations. UAE airports have excellent technology and security, so transiting passengers carrying even residual amounts of drugs are arrested.

Alcohol

Non-Muslim residents can get a liquor licence to drink alcohol at home. These licences are valid only in the Emirate that issued the licence. Residents must also get a permit to be able to drink in licensed venues.

Alcoholic drinks are served in licensed hotels and clubs, but it is a punishable offence to drink, or to be under the influence of alcohol, in public. The legal age for drinking alcohol is 18 in Abu Dhabi (although a Ministry of Tourism by-law allows hotels to serve alcohol only to those over 21), and 21 in Dubai and the Northern Emirates (except Sharjah, where drinking alcohol is illegal).

Passengers in transit through the UAE under the influence of alcohol may also be arrested.

and having sex without being married.

It is UAE law.

Relationships outside marriage

Sex outside marriage is illegal and if any offenders are brought to the attention of the UAE authorities they run the risk of prosecution, imprisonment and/or a fine and deportation. Same sex marriages are not recognised.

Problems will be encountered if an unmarried woman gives birth in the UAE. These problems can range from a refusal to issue a birth certificate to arrest and imprisonment. To get a birth certificate from the UAE authorities, you must provide a marriage certificate. The registration authorities may compare the date of the marriage against the date of birth.

It is against the law to live together or to share the same hotel room with someone of the opposite sex to whom you are not married or closely related.
Homosexual relationships are illegal.

And women get slaughtered if they wear Normal clothing..

Slaughtered? You must be kidding...

UAE law:

Dress code

Women should dress modestly when in public areas like shopping malls. Clothes should cover the tops of the arms and legs, and underwear should not be visible. Swimming attire should be worn only on beaches or at swimming pools.

Such Peace.. Much Open.. No conflics.

Don't spread FUD.

Now, I can connect without VPN. I still don't understand what was the reason, however, some of them told possibilities. Anyway, thank you!

3158  Other / Meta / Re: An exact/estimate reason why Bitcointalk doesn't load without VPN for me? on: April 11, 2015, 06:26:26 PM
I guess it could indicate an issue with the 3G device's connectivity (maybe it is just losing a lot of packets due to poor signal).

This probably is.

Your VPN software might be using UDP rather than TCP which perhaps could explain why it appears to work better via the VPN (but quite a bit slower I would think if this was the case).

The speed is same. Doesn't look a bit faster or slower.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply! I really appreciate it.
3159  Other / Meta / Re: An exact/estimate reason why Bitcointalk doesn't load without VPN for me? on: April 11, 2015, 04:56:12 PM
Nope. I tried with different ISP which was much faster than this and I get same problem.

Hmm... both were 3G or one 3G and one ADSL (or other)?

Yes but different ISPs. Could that be the problem?

I think it would be nice if you show us or you compared just some network diagnostic results. I mean ping, traceroute by ip and by name with VPN connection and without VPN connection.  Wink
It is normal procedure in such cases.

edited: fixed errors
You should post a traceroute both with your VPN and your ISP. This will most likely yield much more useful information and will give much more conclusive results as to if it is the anti-DDoS service or an issue with your VPN

It is an expected result to have timeout errors when attempting to ping the forum's IP address when you are unable to access it

Okay! I will post traceroute tomorrow. ATM I can not do it.

“The end of time will not come until someone will tell a lie and it will immediately reach the horizons of the Earth” - Muhammad(PBUH)

Obviously you need technology to do such things, and such technology was not available before (except through a miracle). Note that it talks about reaching the "horizons of the Earth" and "immediately". This is done by the Internet and television, hence the "world wide web" (www). The satellite covers the whole world. Imagine how can anyone predict such a thing 1500 years ago, especially in a desert Arab society?
On level flat ground the "horizons" are about ten kilometers away....

Quote from: Wikipedia
For an observer on the ground with eye level at h = 5 ft 7 in (1.70 m), the horizon is at a distance of 2.9 miles (4.7 km). For an observer standing on a hill or tower 100 feet (30 m) in height, the horizon is at a distance of 12.2 miles (19.6 km).

However, if it was about a small distance, only "horizon" was needed. It is mentioned "horizons of the Earth" and also it is mentioned "immediately". Even with a fastest living thing you can use to send a message, you can't make it reach "immediately" even if it only covers 4.7 km.
