3181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The difficulty of explaining Bitcoin to people is massive on: February 09, 2022, 05:30:11 PM
People usually only like to hear and see things that they are used to and that they actually like. Its very hard to break that powerful psychological barrier. But in the end, they will have to come to the conclusion that Bitcoin is a very good thing that will help them in life. So sooner or later, they will be interested in learning about it. Up until that point, the most we can do is basically just the "marketing" portion on our part.

Lets hope the world adopts Bitcoin faster. Grin
3182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hypothetically keeping your bitcoin when you die? on: February 09, 2022, 05:10:38 AM
If a person dies while hodling Bitcoin, and there is no family to which you can give it to, the most ethical thing to do, from my own personal view as a Bitcoiner (and I suspect many Bitcoiners in this forum will share my opinion) is to let it forever be lost in the Blockchain. Irredeemable. Lost. Gone. Like yourself.

Except that those Bitcoins will still serve 1 function: to prop up the Bitcoin value by reducing the Bitcoin supply. So even when you're gone and dead, you are still fighting with us, against the governmental injustice that is inflation.
3183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $3.6 billion in Bitcoin seized from Crocodile of Wall Street on: February 09, 2022, 03:56:58 AM
Thats surprisingly dumb of them to get caught. But now that all that money has been seized, what will happen to it now? Are they going to return the money to the respectful owners / Wallets or are they going to keep them? If they keep them as stolen goods, I take it they won't be sold/auctioned off anytime soon? Honestly with the US justice system being the absolute dumpster fire it is, I would be nervous as to how this is going to affect the Bitcoin price in the short term.

Also, what kind of amateurs can't keep 3.6 Billion to themselves? How did they even get caught? Should of Hodled it.
3184  Economy / Gambling / Re: Help me to find a good casino/bookie on: February 08, 2022, 06:40:46 PM
I can see that many bitcointalkers have rushed to your aid and have given you lists of very decent online casinos, however at this point i would suggest you be a bit more careful when choosing and always do your own research on these online casinos. Some of them have dubious rules in their terms and conditions, so always carefully read those before you deposit any money.

You can always peruse the scam accusations subforum to see anyone complaining about some of the casinos: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0
3185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People Overthink Potential of Bitcoin on: February 08, 2022, 02:29:14 PM
While I can agree that some people do tend to overdo the whole fanboy aspect of Bitcoin, it still remains a sturdy truth that Bitcoin is an amazing alternative to fiat. And thats the reason why we are seeing Bitcoin prices as high as they are today. There has never been a decentralised money which is out of control of the government. So  really, most of the people praising Bitcoin are in part praising the Blockchain technology.

Amazing things ahead.
3186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Role of BTC in the metaverse? on: February 08, 2022, 01:08:51 AM
I have been thinking about this for sometimes.

If the metaverse becomes a reality, what will be the significant roles of crypto in its economy?

If crypto such as bitcoin, Mana, Sand are used as means of transaction in the metaverse what will be the reaction of the government?

Bitcoin's main use case for about 4 years now has been an easy way to trade altcoins.  Sadly, this is what has become of it.  The Lightning network is a poor substitute for Bitcoin in my opinion, but it could be the technology needed for Bitcoin to have a metaverse presence as well as a way to trade NFTs with much cheaper fees than some of the more popular networks.  The problem is that development tools and hubs of communication are few and far between, along with the toxic Bitcoin maximalist attitude that Bitcoin will retain it's first mover advantage forever even if nobody is using anymore.  Hopefully time will weed out the toxic attitude, as massive altcoin outperformance of Bitcoin hasn't.  Honestly, I think if it wasn't for Tesla and MicroStrategy I think the ETH/BTC flippening would be much closer than it is to happening, and am concerned that a handful of entities is really all that is stopping this phenomenon currently as every new entrant in the crypto space I've met in the last 4 years has a much larger altcoin portfolio than exposure to Bitcoin (if any at all).

https://www.blockchaincenter.net/flippening/

I would have to agree with most of this assessment. But going by that same logic, any successful altcoin will pull the value of Bitcoin up into the air more and more. So its not really that much of a bad thing if you think about it. Also, its main value is really just being the gold standard. Its much more trustworthy than any altcoin and that confidence inspires investors to buy Bitcoin.

That being said, I see absolutely no future for Meta as it is now. There is absolutely nothing special about it aside from its amazing marketing budget...

Bitcoin is number 1 and will stay number 1. Why? Because its the new gold standard.
3187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What's a pleasant way of marketing? on: February 08, 2022, 12:28:49 AM
There is not really a "pleasant" way to market your project. There are many unpleasant ways to throw out nets and hope you catch a loyal follower. Once you have had the pleasure of spending a meaningful amount of your time catching followers, you will find it becomes easier. At that point, they do the marketing for you. Of course, this only pertains to projects with good products. If your product sucks, no amount of marketing will help.

I can help you out as a marketing advisor. Pm me if you would like.
3188  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino KYC how it works and to what effect on: February 07, 2022, 05:27:36 PM
Realizing how negatively kyc is seen by many players mostly in cryptocurrency casinos players am confused what kyc does in a casino, why do some casino operators have kyc and others don't have. I email also a part of kyc because most casinos often than not request email. What are KYC's advantages and disadvantages.

Some people tend to learn favorably towards the "know-your-customer" regulations. As they view this as something that will protect their money from hacks or unrightful possession. This is only somewhat true.

A good online casino will adhere to the laws and provide a basic level of security and confidence for their customers.

I believe that a crooked casino, will be crooked regardless of whether there is KYC or not. In fact, crooked casinos may do more damage than just take your money, if they have your kyc documents. So, basically, I am quite anti KYC. There is barely any advantage and too many risks for large disadvantages.

3190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you answer a couple of questions to a potential bitcoin buyer? on: February 06, 2022, 08:23:43 PM
Looking at some of your previous threads ( "Bitcoin Doesn’t Exist, Or How Satoshi Nakamoto Tells Lies To People", "Bitcoin is like a token of Trump's bankrupt casino" and "Bitcoin Exists Only in Satoshi's Imagination" ), you are not potential bitcoin buyer, so no point really getting into any sort of argument with you, your mind is set. Or to quote Satoshi, "If you don't believe it or don't get it, I don't have the time to try to convince you, sorry."

I absolutely agree with what this guy is saying. At this point, its just basically a troll who is not interested in investing in Bitcoin anyway.

If you have made up your mind, then thats that. Or perhaps you are having self doubts when it comes to finally buying in? A lot of people like that finally decide to buy Bitcoin and panic sell when things go downwards. They push the blame on Bitcoin, instead of having a bad mental state that they produced themselves. And all that bitterness just gathers and becomes larger when Bitcoin goes up without them, again.

The original poster does not seem serious about investing. No point in giving him advice for basic questions that can easily be googled.
3191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin may not experience blood bath on: February 06, 2022, 06:49:43 PM
If you are going to be a somewhat decent trader then you really need to stop thinking about whether or not your investment becomes a blood bath or when and if we see the bubble pop. These are all things that manipulate your emotions. At some point it all becomes psychologically to heavy and you betray your own trading strategy with a short term moment of emotional weakness.

And you end up in a blood bath...

Best not to spread FUD and emotional traps.
3192  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🦉 Owl.games 🦉 Web 3.0 Crypto Casino & Sportsbook - BTC-Metamask-Walletconnect on: February 06, 2022, 06:24:44 PM
Hey hey! Owl.games has an ongoing fan art contest that will end until February14th 14:00 UTC. I don't know why they didn't post it here in Bitcointalk. You can try joining them and stake your $OWL token for BUSD.

It's time to take your creativity to the next level with our Owl, and show your skills! Customize our beloved OWL! -  Budget of $300 in $OWL among 3 winners!

Registration form 👉 https://t.co/frdQ8j8w5K https://t.co/LwKQEjKwCC
Maybe because OWL is busy so they don't have time to post on the bitcointalk forum and this has been informed by you, maybe some of the community already knows and can participate in what is being held on Twitter.

And the day I tried some pretty profitable slot games on OWL.Games might be a good day I did this game. Cheesy
Prefer it on OWL as more altcoins I use.

Sure, I believe OWLgames is very busy. However its always a good idea to keep up with the community. At least 1 person should be in charge of responding every now and then on Bitcointalk. Thats just one of the ways to keep the snowball rolling and making it bigger. Leaving it alone is a waste of marketing potential. But then again, if they are THAT busy, then it might be a very good sign that things are going good.

day 8

This Omicron shit is weak sauce, man. I had a temperature of 37-37.4 C° for a couple of days, then a very sore throat with stuffy nose and now a persistant cough. Unfortunately the worst part about all of this is that I have had to endure a painful middle ear infection for the last couple of days.

Otherwise, I am basically good to go.

How is this an illness worth panicking over? This is basically like a mildly weak strep throat with occasional diarrhea. HA. Please.  Roll Eyes
3196  Economy / Economics / Re: China considering the use of Blockchain Technology on: February 01, 2022, 07:17:31 PM
The decision by China to conduct a trial use of blockchain technology in it major cities of Guangzhou Shanghai and Beijing giving the permission to about 164 organizations to run the trial test of the blockchain technology, this was made known as a report from China Central Cyber Space Administration makes the approval.

Quote
“The notification requires that capacity-building be strengthened. All pilot units (regions) should give priority to adopting blockchain software and hardware technologies and products with interoperability and sustainable development capabilities; actively guide blockchain applications to develop towards value, scale, and industrialization; accelerate the formulation of relevant technologies and application standards,” the notice said.
https://finbold.com/china-sets-certain-conditions-for-blockchain-use-within-the-country/

As it was generally known that China has a total ban on cryptocurrency last year and it decision has remain steadfast as the government took drastic measures to bring to an end existing crypto firms, mining rigs to shutdown, stating that it imposed a danger to their economy. But to a latest development, its giving the use of blockchain technology application a trial opportunity stating that the proposed blockchain differs from the bitcoin blockchain.
what's our intake on this?

China has been pushing FUD whenever it suits their cause. I would not take anything China has to say as serious or even, god forbid, the truth. Everything coming out of China is fake and has zero credibility.

Even if it were to take a more crypto friendly stance, I would not believe it.

Blockchain itself is not illegal in China and has more uses than just for making cryptocurrencies. And as I understand it, its just the cryptocurrency part that China seemingly has a problem with.

A case could perhaps be made that more blockchain adoption will lead to higher cryptocurrency adoption.
3197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Man lost everything to Crypto on: February 01, 2022, 05:55:12 PM
Real-time incident of an user who trained himself to be a trader. Got addicted and lost everything. Steven is the person who kept adding more cryptocurrency to his portfolio. In an interview he mentioned drug, cryptocurrency and alcohol has destroyed his life. In the beginning Steven knew what he's doing. Later he ended up losing around 5-10 bitcoins. He don't know any information about the addresses and now struggling to recover it.

He says trading is gambling. He has learnt by his own and has always been a good trader. Now he spends day in one of the rehabilitation centre in Scotland.

Data : Man Lost Everything to Crypto

Im not quite sure what to make of this story. He lost his addresses? Or he made bad trades? Because if he is a good trader who just lost his addresses, that does not really say much about him having an addiction problem. But from the context of the story I am guessing he made bad trades that lost him those addresses?

A bit confusing, however either way it just goes to show that anything can be addicting and anything can lead you to make bad, emotional mistakes.

Except if you hodl. Hodling is the way to go, in my eyes. Grin

I just googled it. A single patty big mac exists. They just named it the mac jr. instead of the small mac. Disappointed by this new information, I am off to bed. GN WO

I feel like we glossed over the whole small mac idea and I am not comfortable with that.

~

You are completely ignoring the inner conflict which sparked a civil war in Ukraine. You seem to think this all happened AFTER Russia "invaded". The newly installed Ukraine government would have definitely attacked the Pro-Russian Separatists in Crimea, had it not been annexed. And exactly that would have led to a great loss of life in Crimea. If you don't believe thats what would have happened, then you do not really understand the conflict.

You think you're helping by provoking more wars with your attempt to force your own specific brand of "democracy" on other countries? Hows Afghanistan doing? Or any of the 39 sovereign nations after the US invaded them? Lets ask Iraq on their thoughts on the matter.

Or maybe you want to talk about a more Crimea-relatable invasion? Invading Panama because it was "necessary to safeguard the lives of U.S. citizens in Panama" also "coincidentally" worked out in America's favor (aka helping America become the big daddy of the oceans). What a coincidence! See, when the west invades, its "different". Right?

What did NATO do except provoke a war in Georgia and then leave them to their own devices? Where were the American heros? Where was NATO and their ambiguous promises? All they did was instigate war and then let them burn.

As I see it, Russia is fighting to protect its influence while America fights to spread its influence. Hard to say which has the moral high ground.  I would say both are wrong. But Russia's hand is being forced, is the main difference.

Russia is going to protect its influence and will lash out if you keep forcing it into a corner.

edit:

out of respect for the WO, I am going to let this be my last political post on Ukraine. Either you get what Im talking about or you never played CIV 4. Don't @ me.
