2281  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Take This 2 Minutes Nine Step Quiz To Access Yourself In Gambling on: August 31, 2022, 05:53:04 PM
Have you assessed yourself on what kind of gamblers are you, this quiz which is a 2-minute nine-step quiz that will assess you on what kind of gamblers are you after you take the risk to be sure to answer the poll so the community will know how many of us here are Non-Problem Gambler, Moderate-Risk Gambler or High-Risk Gambler.

Quote
This self-assessment is based on the Canadian Problem Gambling Index. The higher your score, the greater the risk that your gambling is a problem.
Self Assessment Quiz

Well well well, here I thought I was a low risk gambler but it turns out I am not quite that careful with my money and my gambling habits. Roll Eyes

High risk gambler is now an attribute which that little quiz has given me.

Although I somewhat doubt the accuracy of that test, as it seems a bit too simple for any realistic assessment (it seems like more of a Facebook personality quiz, to be completely honest), it did make me reflect on my gambling strategy a bit harder. So thanks for that.
2282  Economy / Gambling / Re: I need advice from experienced users of this forum on: August 31, 2022, 12:04:43 PM
Hello. I really need advice from knowledgeable and experienced people like you, so I decided to turn to you. In short, I have an unpleasant situation with the MBit casino. You can read the details here if you are interested. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5409934.new#new

I filed a complaint on several sites, like GURU and AskGamblers, but none of them gave any results. However, I don't want to give up, as casino representatives behave dishonestly towards me. I want to try to file a complaint against the license provider. In other threads with fraud accusations, I have seen similar advice.

Could you help me with this? Tell me how to do it correctly. I will be very grateful for any advice and details. I believe that such things cannot be left just like that and we need to fight to the last. I would also like as many people as possible to find out about the dishonest behavior of the MBit casino and not repeat my mistakes.

I would have to agree with the previous poster on this matter. It might be more prudent to seek help from a lawyer or at least warn them about the lawyers incoming lawsuit action.

If they don't start sweating with a warning then the moment they get your lawyers letter, they might take things more seriously.

A lot of unprofessional online gambling casinos think they can get away with not paying up or prolonging the cash out. It's very unethical but a practice which is becoming common, unfortunately.

Good luck to you, hope you get your winnings
2283  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "The Lower-Risk Gambling Guidelines" Is this a joke? on: August 30, 2022, 09:15:09 PM
Those numbers that you posted seem suspect to me, as well. It also seems like a lazily put together sheet of data that someone pulled out of their own bottom instead of doing the research. The numbers change depending on factors such as where you live, how much you earn, how much your expenses are and how much you need to put aside for emergency savings and so on.

If you're making 10k a year and live in a first world country you have bigger problems than worrying about your gambling expenses. But even then you could afford to gamble more than 8 bucks ( that is if you don't have a family to worry about)
2284  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots 101: Basics, Strategies, and Discussion (with poll) on: August 30, 2022, 04:34:06 PM
Hey guys, does any of you experience a certain glitch in Play N' Go Moon princess?  I got a bonus round on Moon Princess and chose Love for the bonus round, in the last spin of the bonus round, I got a 5-of-a-kind and three-of-a-kind premium symbol, which supposedly fill the combo meter and gives me a + 4 bonus spin.  But I was surprised when it didn't and the bonus round end.

Sounds like the glitch was perhaps only from your end? Basically a client side glitch.

It's not unusual. A glitch from the server side would be much more unusual but it can be detected perhaps. It could be a good idea (in cases of large sums of money) that you ask support to look into the matter.

The only glitches I personally have experienced were cosmetic glitches from my end. And they were not any slot games.

My slots experiences have gone quite smoothly until today, really.
2285  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 1k to 10k Challenge Update, I MADE IT! on: August 30, 2022, 01:34:39 PM
Some of you guys saw my posts and know that I started a 1k to 10000 challenge, where I fully document my journey (entry, when I close and daily update), after 19 Days, ups and downs. I can finally say proudly that I made it!! Been transparent since day 1, shared all the moves, never deleted any post or faked any shit and I am extremely proud of this achievement. 10k is not a big amount for me but the achievement is nice, also met a lot of fellow degens on the way, had a lot of fun with the community, the night trades/talks we had on tg.

All to say that I LOVE YOU CRYPTO!!!

Day 19 Final Update: https://twitter.com/shorterprince/status/1563150259991130112

If what you claim is true then

Congratulations to you!

Making 10k out of 1k is a huge deal and you should be proud of yourself. I see you making over 100k in the future.

I recommend getting a tradingview account for your next trading adventures. that way you can show everyone your predictions and on tradingview they make it impossible to delete your trading ideas, that way everyone can see that you are indeed an impressive trader who knows what they're doing.

Best of luck to you!
2286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be worth zero? on: August 30, 2022, 01:05:12 PM
We all know how volatile and unpredictable the cryptocurrency market can be. One month, a coin may be at its peak of value, and the next, it may have almost no value at all. Unfortunately, this is simply the name of the game when it comes to cryptography. But what would happen if the oldest and most valuable asset on the market, Bitcoin, dropped to zero?

https://portalcripto.com.br/en/crypto-crash-2022-bitcoin-pode-valer-zero/
font: https://portalcripto.com.br

Truthfully, I very much doubt Bitcoin will ever be worth absolutely zero. Even the dollar note could never be worth less than the paper it is printed on. There must always be a bottom value. And unless we see an abrupt and sudden deadly, unfixable flaw with Blockchain, the technology behind Bitcoin, then there is nothing to worry about. And anyway, its best not to dwell on impossible scenarios. They only fuel your personal FUD.
2287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My feelings after 11 years with crypto. on: August 30, 2022, 12:00:54 PM
Hello everyone, today i want to tell you about my crypto-depression.
So in 2010 i was working in IT company and my friend from work told me about bitcoin mining.
Next day after this information i register on this forum and start mining coins, everything going perfect but bitcoin price was really low and unstable.
I was investing everything in gpu. Couple times i lost my fund's on scam-exchange but i still had a lot of "mining power".
In 2015 i quited my job and invest my whole savings in bitcoin, in that time i had more than 15 bitcoin's and gpu worth 20k$.
And after 2 or 3 week's everything fucked up, in same time i lost my job and my wife get sicked.
In Nov 2015 i selled everything but still i had -$$$$ to pay, so you probably asking why i made this post?

Now after 6 years i have biggest depression ever, if i only burrow money from somewhere 5 years ago and didnt sell my miners...

I have feelings that i lost my biggest life chance to get really rich and i just want to forget about crypto and work in normal work but it is impossible.
It's hurt much more if you can see that your old crypto-friend's get cars and houses from crypto profit, i wonder if someone have some feeling's as me.

A lot of people on this forum are feeling the very same way as you. We all missed out big time at some point in the past, more or less. Only a few very lucky ones  did not fully miss out. But really, who would have thought that Bitcoin would reach such prices? Many did not have the luxury of even discovering Bitcoin until it was at 5 digits and by then many did not think it would go any higher.

I myself see this as a valuable lesson for the future. The lesson is to hodl
2288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fear is not Real. on: August 30, 2022, 09:50:27 AM
When BTCitcoin is under 1 dollar people think it's another WebMoney kind of thing, greed was becoming Fear people failed to hold on it.

Same thing keep repeating itself first Greed enter's and it turned up into fear and bought wrong judgements.

Fear of loosing FOMO is where we get out of positions and accept losses, FUD is what makes market down and it keep repeating itself.

New entries are more infected by these two viruses FOMO & FUD, with experience we learn how to deal with it. If there are no more new entries BTCitcoin will become more stable.

90% of crypto geniuses failed just because they failed to HODL it learn from them don't be one of them.

First thing to learn in BTCitcoin is Hodl it - Fear is not Real

Fear is indeed very real and very easy to exploit in people who do not know how to keep their emotional states under control because they made investments in Bitcoin that they themselves do not truly believe in.

What I think you mean is that fear has no use and can only hinder your decision making.

Whales count on this chaos because it's how they make money.

People need to understand that, and once they do, fear becomes ignorable.

I used to have fears back in the old days of investing and all those fears did was make me lose my Bitcoin. It's just never worth making fear-based decisions. I do not recommend it.
2289  Economy / Gambling / Re: Some Crazy Fun Facts About Casinos And Gambling You Might Not Know. on: August 30, 2022, 08:57:46 AM
Exploiting prisoners to make a profit is the most American thing I have ever heard. I bet they were given horrible odds as well.  Roll Eyes

I knew about the japanese loophole already. They should just legalize gambling in Japan already. At this point it's just a charade. Probably just a way for politicians to save face.

The part about gambling addicts soiling themselves because they can't get away from gambling is a bit sad but makes you wonder if online gambling addicts do the same at home...

Awesome facts, my man. Have a merit!

2290  Economy / Gambling / Re: 1 - The copycat epidemic within crypto casinos. on: August 29, 2022, 01:55:01 PM

TL;DR - if you want to go up against the king, you should probably be better than them in some way.

I completely agree that copycat online gambling casinos are lazy and they do not spark the confidence of the person who wishes to deposit their funds on such a unprofessional website. But as far as Stake.com goes, it does have the exact opposite effect. Everyone copying them means they have built quite the decent website.

Many of the new copycats are understandable. They are new businesses with low capital so they cannot afford anything fancy, just yet.

It would be bad for them if they were victim to an exploit. Using a stable build might be better until they learn more about how to run a casino.
2291  Economy / Gambling / Re: The History Of Gambling. on: August 27, 2022, 05:05:27 PM
Here is another gambling history note.  In the year 1978, May of 26 (Memorial Day weekend) the first casino open in Atlantic City.  It was reported that players waited over two hours in line just to get inside.[1]

[1] https://www.funtrivia.com/en/Entertainment/Casinos-Gambling-6258_4.html
this is a very interesting fact,
people waiting in line must be very curious about what is really in the casino, I can't imagine the euphoria that happened in the world's first casino.

Even though it was the very first casino, which may have contributed towards the enthusiasm and excitement of the whole situation, I doubt that the people did not understand the risks of gambling as gambling itself was definitely not a new concept. People just just gambled in private.

The crowd was probably just thrilled at the idea of official gambling and something new. Gambling may have not quite been legal yet, at that point.

I imagine its like when weed got legalized.

Gambling does exist in different forms before it actually becomes a business. People used to play gambling at individual levels however as the technology evolved, gambling become a proper business and thus it was promoted to the public as a means to get quick income without much effort however the reality is otherwise.
When internet was invented, online gambling was also introduced and now everyone can access gambling platforms on their laptops and phones.

I agree with most of what you are saying however there is a single point with which I would have to disagree. Calling gambling a business, or rather, a proper business is rather a long shot. It's always been half a scam due to its widely unregulated and unchecked nature. That has not really changed with today's technology. In fact, the internet may contributed to this wild side of gambling
2292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Btc crime on: August 26, 2022, 08:50:25 PM
A criminal using bitcoin as a means of laundering money does not make it a Bitcoin crime. Your title is wrong and misleading.
Criminals have always had means to clean stolen money long before bitcoin was envisioned.

You did not include[1] an article to the news.

[1] https://news.bitcoin.com/israel-arrests-3-in-crypto-scheme-to-launder-millions-stolen-from-france/

- Jay -

Thank you for your useful contribution. Indeed, using Bitcoin to launder stolen money is not a Bitcoin crime and should not be attributed to Bitcoin. He could have just as well used any other different store of value as a means to an end and would have reached the same result.

We should be careful about putting Bitcoin in a bad light as this will only slow down the rate of Bitcoin adoption and give bankers smiles on their faces.
2293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I Disliked Bitcoin on: August 26, 2022, 08:15:47 PM
Better late than never!

A lot of people are still pushing the "bad guys use bitcoin hurr durr" narrative not even taking into account that literally any tool out there can be used for both good and bad; and even forgetting that the very currency they're using everyday is being used for malicious purposes as well.

I believe that the narrative of "only bad guys use bitcoin" has got to be propaganda of Bitcoin opponents who actively have something to lose (in most cases, obviously profit) from the mass adoption of Bitcoin. These are the pushers of said propaganda. I cannot imagine anyone else wanting to hurt the reputation of Bitcoin with such obvious lies. Anyone who adopted Bitcoin even a week ago knows it's a lie. So it can't be ignorance fueling the anticoinery. It's got to be bankers and regulators.

2295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We are all Hodlonaut on: August 25, 2022, 07:11:46 PM
So I just stumbled across this post from Greg Maxwell on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/ws8wfd/starting_september_12th_in_oslo_norway_hodlonaut/ikxqxoo/. Everyone with even a passing interest in bitcoin (which includes you, if you are reading this forum) should read this post. In fact, I would read the whole thread, because Greg has made a number of excellent posts.

Next month a pseudonymous individual by the handle of Hodlonaut will go to court in Norway to defend himself against known fraudster CSW. For anyone out of the loop, here is an update on the case: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/culture/timeline-of-hodlonaut-craig-wright-case. The very abridged version is that Holdonaut posted on Twitter what everyone knows - that CSW is not Satoshi - and now there is a court case to determine whether these tweets are lawful and whether Hodlonaut has to pay damages to CSW.

This case doesn't just affect Hodlonaut; it affects all of us. Hodlonaut is not just defending himself; he is defending us all, as explained in Greg's post I linked to above.

So what can we do to help? Well, CSW is being bankrolled by Calvin Ayre and CoinGeek. Hodlonaut, on the other hand, is being bankrolled by nobody. Got some spare sats kicking around? I can think of no worthier cause than the defense of bitcoin itself.

I can't believe that a delusional scumbag like fake-toshi (aka Craig Wright) is still among us. Such disgusting people usually run afoul of the wrong people at some point in their life and either screw themselves legally to the point of imprisonment or worse.

I think he has mental problems which is why he is so starved for attention to the point of publically making a fool out of himself.

I am definitely on the side of the poor guy he is suing. But there's no way in hell fake-toshi will win. In fact, I hope he gets what's coming to him for putting someone through such emotional distress. Roll Eyes
2296  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it profitable to hedge/cashout bets before end of sport event? on: August 25, 2022, 11:52:51 AM
I think that in some regards, gambling on sports events bears some similarities to day trading. Which is to say if you make a decision and back out early, then not only do you miss out on profit, (or in the case of gambling, winnings) but you miss out on your own funds because you make losses while "flip flopping" because of your own uncertainty.

It's a really bad decision, in the long term.
2297  Economy / Gambling / Re: Poker tournaments why tournaments in other games on: August 25, 2022, 01:11:59 AM
A lot of poker game tournaments have been announced on this board over time, and am I kind of wondering what makes poker games so inclined to the tournament and we don't see such competitions being announced for other games?

That is actually quite a good question. One that I have never thought of until now. If I had to make an educated guess, I would say that with poker games it does not feel like the players are entirely involved in a luck based activity like gambling but rather it feels like each player has a strategy behind each of his moves. There is even a psychoanalytic component players try to calculate. I guess this makes it fun to watch for observers. But that's just a guess of mine.
2298  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should Employers Screen Applicants for Problem Gambling Before Employment? on: August 24, 2022, 08:58:35 PM
Should employers screen employees for gambling problems before hiring them?

The fact that people ask questions like that shows how incorrigible and corrupt our ideas of employment are. Why should anyone get to pry into someone's life like that?

What's next, do employers get a list of my medical history and my bank statements for the last 10 years?

I think employers should not be given such rights. It's in human nature to make mistakes. We should not be penalized by random strangers in the future for them
2299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which option will better to take? on: August 24, 2022, 05:22:09 PM
Recently it has been seen that some countries have accepted Bitcoin as legal tender. But my question is more adoption of btc and taking it as legal tender aren't going to harmful for the economy of a country, specially when btc is in bearish ?

Or is it better to use it through control to avoid illegal or the bad side effect on economy?
Many countries have still outlawed it for not being able to control it.

That last sentence that you wrote really puts what i wanted to reply in a nutshell.

Many countries have outlawed it because they are not able to control it. And honestly, by now they have proven that they simply cannot do anything except scare people into believing that they somehow can.

The economy won't be harmed. In fact, a transparent, fair and verifiable market which cannot be corrupted will only benefit the economy.

The only ones it hurts are the people who profit from financial corruption. That's why corrupt countries like china try to desperately ban it.
2300  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Casino Trends For 2022 on: August 23, 2022, 11:20:10 AM
Here is an interesting article for online casino lovers. This article talks about the online casino trends that are happening because of the rapid advancement in digital technology in the gambling and the gaming industry.

The article lists the trends in online casinos in 2022. These trends are highlighted below:

  • Crypto is dominating gambling circles
  • Gamblers in restricted locations can still play
  • Rapidly changing consumer habits
  • More live games on offer
  • Virtual reality games on the rise
  • Land-based casinos trending downwards
  • Evolution of slots games
  • New table games
  • Gambling on smartwatches on the move

Have you noticed any online casino trends in 2022 not listed in the article?

You can read the articles here: https://blog.bc.game/online-casino-trends/

Online casino trends are a fantastic idea for this gambling discussion subforum and I think we would benefit from making a yearly or even monthly traditional of gathering the data and posting it here for our fellow Bitcointalk gambling community members.

Although having said that, I don't want to make your post seem inauthentic but I must ask: where and how did you gather the data (sources)? We should make sure that the data stays accurate.
