2301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC is scarcer than gold. on: August 22, 2022, 10:00:13 PM
244,000 metric tons of gold has been discovered to date, 55,000 tons of gold are left.

But there is still a lot of gold left in the universe. There is gold on asteroids for example. One day these will be minable. So the gold supply is not as limited as some may think.

However, gold is hard to move around, weighs a lot, it's hard to sell or buy, it's not practicable.

With BTC it's another story. We all know there are only 21,000,000 coins and 3-4 millions are already lost forever.

There is no Bitcoin in the whole Universe, except on Planet Earth.

BTC is scarcer than gold. I think one day 1 BTC will enter the $xxx, xxx zone then the $x,xxx, xxx HODL BTC

I think that saying Bitcoin is scarcer than gold is totally wrong.

First of all, you can divide Bitcoin into smaller parts and it works just the same. So this divisional fungibility really is what makes it possible for everyone to own some parts of a Bitcoin. Gold on the other hand needs to be a certain minimal quantity to be useful. Secondly and more importantly, Gold can be recycled but in a lot of use cases it's destroyed forever (made unrecoverable or not worth recovering). Bitcoin does not fall victim to entropy after too many uses. It stays fine as it is, no matter how many times it is used.

So you will find it's gold that is slowly fading away and becoming scarce, not Bitcoin.

It seems to me you are confusing scarcity with value because they share the same property of existing in a limited amount.
2302  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you play Slots? (long sessions / jumper / focussed) on: August 22, 2022, 09:33:21 PM
I am very curious to know how people are playing Slots.

Option A : Do you play one slot for a long time, until you hit the feature or until you win something big?

Option B : Do you jump between different slots, play for a while and then jump to the next slot?

Option C : Do you set a target amount for each Slot and then stay with that?

I think people's success with slots might be linked to the way they are playing it, so for instance... people playing one slot until it pay out, might be more succesful, than the person that are jumping from one slot to the next.  Huh

What strategy do you think, will lead to the maximum profits? (Variance and RTP of each slot also determine the way that you are supposed to play on the different slots)

Let's discuss.....  Wink

This is a very interesting topic and I would love to read about all the different strategies that my fellow slot players have.

My very own strategy of playing slot machine games might be a bit messy but it always starts off with a safety limit on how much I am willing to lose and at how much winnings I stop playing.

I set a certain amount and divide it by the number of games I want to play. When I win 200%, I stop for the day. If I lose the allotted amount, I also stop for the day.

This helps to keep my gambling under control and I get to play different games
2303  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is It For The Money Or For The Sport Or A Clear Exploitations on: August 22, 2022, 07:03:51 AM
Internet sensations and celebrity influencers are indeed making a mockery of the noble sport of boxing, if you were to ask me...

I have never liked seeing these "pretend" matches which only serve as entertainment for the lowest of minds in the world of boxing.

Although maybe they are just fillers because there are not enough famous boxers fighting, so they try to fill in the time with the celebrity influencer clowns.
2304  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: POSSIBLE THINGS TO HELP US TO WIN AT CRYPTO CASINOS on: August 22, 2022, 06:07:38 AM
I think that the best possible way to win is playing at an online gambling casino with a long-standing good reputation and transparent and fair games which have been thoroughly vouched by community members.

In fact, the only community members who's word can be trusted would be our own forum members because our trust system really enforces truthful reviews.
2305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you own 1 Bitcoin? (2022 edition) on: August 21, 2022, 05:06:03 PM
I really do not like to resemble anything short of what some people would call a party pooper, but I am not comfortable with the thread.

It's really bad opsec to the identify yourself as someone who has a certain amount of money.

By doing this you put a target on your back for scammers, fraudsters, regulators, tax officers and other criminal parasites.

I think it goes against the privacy that Bitcoin gives you in the first place.
2306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be a Bitcoin believer on: August 21, 2022, 03:19:05 PM
Cryptocurrency pioneers, nice to meet you, this is my dad's account.
He is a dedicated promoter of the crypto community. He used to explain Bitcoin to me when I was a kid. He watched Bitcoin come into being and grow. Because Bitcoin was too expensive to target for long-term storage, he often remorse. Many times he lost money by investing in cheaper altcoins, and the chronic stress of family life and work overload left him depressed.
I read the discussion on the development of Bitcoin in the early days of the forum, and felt very magical and incredible. This is a great invention, a great era. When Bitcoin was born, I was a 7-year-old ignorant girl, and I also missed it. got it.
We weren't there when shells were money, we weren't there when gold was there, we weren't there when cars were there, and I wasn't there when electricity was there. Those who can mine 50BTC or 25BTC in one block, you are the luckiest!
The developers of the Bitcoin community, a group of young geniuses, who did not want to have fun when they were young, but got into the field of cryptography and created a great Bitcoin. For their ideals and beliefs, I adore them very much!
I hate altcoins, they made my dad lose money and they are just imitating bitcoin, a lot of altcoins are just to scam money and then disappear, and the real king is bitcoin. So I call on everyone to join me and only believe in Bitcoin, abandon those altcoins that cheat money, and just follow it!

Allow me to welcome you on behalf of the Bitcoin talk community to our beloved forum.

I would recommend that you walk in your father's footsteps and create your own personal Bitcoin talk account. Gather merits, be active in the community, learn more about Bitcoin, mining, cryptocurrency and blockchain.

But the most important part is to have fun.

If you need any assistance or if you have questions about anything, don't feel shy to ask away as you like.
2307  Economy / Gambling / Re: bitdice delaying everything they can to kyc and withdraw on: August 21, 2022, 02:13:56 PM
Started playing at bitdice. Seemed fun at first.

I deposited 50$, won in the whole session 750$,  super excited but then I saw chats coming in that withdrawals took 20 days or ppl didn't get conformation emails on withdrawals, so I got scared.

I withdrew 750$ and after 4 hours I got asked for kyc. I instantly send the documents and it has been 80+ hours and kyc hasn’t even been completed.

Live support keeps saying they’ll ping the team but nothing happens. Payment team also said they didn't receive my proof of funds which I send 6 hours before that as asked.

They keep making up reasons to delay the whole process and keep telling me to wait 24h and I'm sick of it.

I would not call $750 usd a "huge amount" because relative to the profits and turnover of the mentioned online gambling casino, or any gambling casino, for that matter, the amount is not significant. So I doubt that they have money troubles. They might be stalling to maximize their profits or because they have an ineffective kyc system.
2308  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Influence of "Paid" Streamers on Online gambling..... on: August 20, 2022, 11:42:02 PM
If you ask me I think paid streamers are faking gambling. Its probably all in a secret agreement between them and the gambling casino...

They might, as someone else in this thread already mentioned, get a bunch of fake funds to gamble with, so when they win they can make it look like they made a lot of money and if they lose then they do not actually lose anything of value. Furthermore its all obvious PR and advertisements to get money by referalls. And even if there are regulations in place to prevent this "fake gambling" then the streamers would find a way to fake their winnings for the views anyway without the gambling casino partnerships. They would still get a lot of money from the referalls and other income sources from their viewers.

Obviously the referral reward cost is taken into account and comes from the casino's gambling turnover. So in the end, it's the viewers paying the streamers for duping them into gambling.

This is possible and they're all doing these things in the name of money. They uplift the gambling site by gaining their wins which will benefit both site and the paid streamers. But of course, they will not admit it though their winnings are too good to be true. Their goal is to attract more players by making them believe that they could win as much as the streamers win. The viewers who fall for their trap don't really matter to them so we should be wise and skeptical because not all that we can watch or see on the internet is true.

Well in their defense (although I am not actually in their defense), screwing the small guy over has been the cornerstone of capitalism. This applies to almost any for-profit organisation or business. And it also applies to some non-profit organisations as well, no matter how they try to market it like they are the good guys.

Its just in the nature of humans to be greedy and do anything to get someone else's money/power/belongings/status

I really hope the governments at least try to regulate the bad sides which they can regulate. But again, its also the governments making huge profits off taxes from gambling. So probably there will be little to no change.

The world is not a fair place.
2309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in Casino tokens such as BFG, OWL or TFS on: August 20, 2022, 11:06:15 PM

  • OWL for OwlGames - they offer 43% per annum on their OWL token, their currency has actually went up in value whilst all other cryptos went down - and why? Anyone knows?

Although I am not too certain what is behind the price rise in OWL, I suspect it could be artificial price pumping from the side of the OWLdao team. The reason for this speculation is because their token was very limited when it came to actually selling it.

I worked in a signature bounty campaign where they paid part of my reward in BTC and part in OWL. I did not see OWL fall in price after the tokens were distributed even though the market cap was relatively small. So what happened?

Well, I found it extremely difficult to find a way to sell the OWL tokens at an exchange with enough liquidity. The other option was signing up on some KYC exchange that I did not know about. I was not about to send some unknown exchange I have never heard of my personal information, so I kept waiting for a higher liquidity at the DEX where it was also listed. That liquidity never came so selling was not an option.

I might be wrong but I think thats why its not falling. Because they have made their token annoying hard to swap/trade.
2310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Satoshi Nakamoto Reveal his identity ............ ? on: August 20, 2022, 10:55:00 PM
There are huge speculation that if Satoshi Nakamoto reveal his identity and sell his Bitcoin then the Bitcoin market will crash. This is nonsense propaganda by few Bitcoin community leaders.

When Satoshi Nakamoto will reveal his identity, he will get a Nobel Prize in economic science, he may not need to sell his bitcoins at all. Even if Satoshi Nakamoto sell his Bitcoins and donate to charities, it will not affect the Bitcoin value. When he will get a Nobel Prize in Economic Science there after hundreads of millions of investors will buy Bitcoins. The Bitcoin price will hike and go to the moon. That is my prediction.

Satoshi Nakamoto is a benevolent Economic Scientist and he deserve the recognition for his work.

You cannot even imagine the amount of trouble he will have coming for him. Bankers, regulators, politicians and other corrupt demons are going to ensure that he commits suicide by two shots at the back of his/her head.

Its best if Satoshi stays anonymous forever. There is absolutely no worry about him/her selling his/her Bitcoins. Sure that will cause a dump. But his entire Bitcoin holdings is a bit higher than 5% of the market cap of Bitcoin. So the dump will mostly be caused by speculative panic. And BTC will heal over time. Maybe even instantly.

Bitcoin works. Thats why we believe in it. Its worked for years now. And nobody has been able to prove it as redundant.

2312  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: List of psychological tricks that casinos use. on: August 20, 2022, 01:09:00 PM
I found this interesting read that there are  psychological tricks offline casino's use to make visitors spend more money, I have summarized the article and added the link at the end for anyone who wants to read more, Why? cos like I mentioned, it is an interesting read!

So some of these tricks are;
1. Enticing Design - You know casinos spend a whole lot to ensure that their interiors are exquisite and speak luxury, you always want to come back.
2. Lack of Clocks and Natural Light - No clock means you won't be able to know when it's time to go, the more time you spend, the money you spend.
3. Cashless Games - You buy credit for slots or chips, so you also may not be able to keep track of your money.
others according to the article are: Stimulating Lights and Sounds, Memorable Scents, Near-Misses, Familiar Concepts, a Sense of Control.
SEE ARTICLE HERE

Now I understand that Online casinos are not left out and also apply some psychological tricks on us. The aim of these topic is not to say that it is bad as all businesses have their methods to increase profits, but for us to collectively highlight some psychology that online casinos can use. I have identified some as they are similar to those the articles highlighted as it seemed to be mostly focused on offline casinos, they are;
1. Good and user friendly design.
2. Cashless games is definitely among.
3. Stimulating sounds seem to be one. (Please add to the list)

I am by no means a psychologist or neurologist but I am pretty sure that the gambling casinos also use lights and sounds to entice people into gambling. Maybe even small wins are used strategically to entice more gambling. I know (from documentaries) that the supermarkets we buy food at even use lighting, product placements, colors and mirrors to psychologically trick people into buying stuff they never even wanted in the first place when they entered the shop.

If it were up to me, all those kinds of dirty tactics should be outlawed. Its basically almost the definition of scamming/tricking people.
2313  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: How long to crack 24 word phrase if you know all 24 words out of order? on: August 20, 2022, 12:51:57 PM
However,  if you know the location  of some of those words it would be easier (maybe possible) to brute force it. Because the difficulty increases exponentially
With good hardware, btcrecover will descramble a 12 word BIP39 seed phrase in an hour: https://btcrecover.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Usage_Examples/2020-05-02_Descrambling_a_12_word_seed/Example_Descrambling_a_12_word_seed/. Although not exactly the same due to the checksum, lets assume that if you know 12 out of the 24 words then you could descramble the remaining 12 words in roughly the same amount of time.

If you don't know the position of 13 words instead of 12, then there are 13x as many combinations to try, so that would take roughly 13 hours.
For 14 words, 7 days.
For 15 words, 16 weeks.
For 16 words, 5 years.
For 17 words, 85 years.
For 18 words, 1500 years.

No point calculating beyond that really. Tongue

Not with quantum computers. I assume we won't need to wait 1500 years for the next generation computer to be developed.

Still, at current present technology levels we do not even need to talk about whether or not its possible to crack it because theoretically it is possible but its just technically impossible. Which to humans is almost exactly the same as literally impossible.

Also it bears reminding that by the time we have quantum computers powerful enough to do the entire cracking in minutes or hours or even days, at that point in the future we will have already upgraded the security where even quantum computers cannot crack it.

Its just a simple matter of adding more words.
2314  Other / Archival / Re: Entrepreneurship or Office job? on: August 19, 2022, 04:45:07 PM
I think that the situation mainly depends on who your boss is and how he treats you. You could be your own boss but then you would have an other boss (your clients) but even then they could treat you like dirt. So there is no escaping the situation. Whether an office job and you starting your own business, either way you will make money. But how much money you make and how you are treated really depends on you.

If you have a really great office job boss who is kind and generous to you and always sees your achievements are a net plus for everyone, then some people would take that over being your own boss with crappy clients who make your life hell. And the other way around is true as well.
2315  Economy / Economics / Re: Most people more and more people depend from this on: August 19, 2022, 04:13:15 PM
Everyday we wake up and i ask is btc long or short.
Nowdays this is biggest question and most important one
We wake up morning we ask is the day gona be LONG or SHORT day
Many people asking thus everyday will be short or long and how short or how long will be long or short.
Before we go to bed we think isit going to be short or long if we leave position open for the night.

So yeah.

This only matters to two kinds of people.

1. Daytraders
2. People who are unsure of whether or not they have made the right investment choice

But if you think about it, this has nothing to do with Bitcoin but rather with all investments that fluctuate in value over time. If you buy Tesla stocks, or even a Tesla car, that value of your investment will over time change. It might go up. It might go down. But if you truly believe in your investment to go up over a long period of time, then there is no point in worrying day to day about the current value.

And most people who "flip-flop" on their investments lose money. Its not a good mindset to have.

Either you believe you made the right investment or you are unsure.
2316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The government of my country always blame Bitcoin for their failure. on: August 19, 2022, 02:25:14 PM
When depraved criminal lunatics like politicians need to shift the blame for something that they themselves caused, its only natural for them to point the finger at anything which is popular and easily blame-able.

Smart people will aways be able to see through the politicians and bankers lies because they know the truth. And the truth is that Bitcoin is not something bad, or something which is corrupted. Bitcoin is the ultimate freedom.

If the people of your country only took payment in Bitcoin and refused to pay taxes, then your corrupt politicians would start panicking very fast. Of course they would try to force everyone to pay up by force. Like throwing people in jail or even shooting them.

2317  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin’s longest-serving Lead Maintainer calls it quits, names no successor on: August 19, 2022, 02:03:58 PM
Bitcoin is and always will be a community driven project. If someone in the community retires, there will be someone else to take his place. I see no problem here. The only true way Bitcoin can or ever will die is if every single miner, every single Hodler and every single believer of Bitcoin were to change their minds overnight. And even then you would still have to stop the flow of new Bitcoiners and remove all the Bitcoin PR from the internet.

Basically I am saying it is impossible. And news like this only serves as temporary shorting opportunities for whales. And trust me, they love FUD like this. Because they know that this is only a temporary "scare".
2318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mining can be carbon negative? YES! on: August 19, 2022, 02:07:16 AM
snip

You have made absolutely no effort to explain how this is going to work. Or how mining will be carbon negative. Unless you want to publically explain, instead of demanding people DM you, I only see red flags. Actually the very fact that you would rather speak to people privately instead of showing your startup/mining business's authenticity, is a huge red flag.

Why should any of us trust you with our money? Do you even have team members? Who are they? Who are you? What can you show us?

Until you can bring forth something of substance, I will avoid your project and I would recommend everyone else avoid it as well.

Smells scammy.

BUILT WITH BITCOIN COMPLETES CLEAN WATER PROJECT FOR 1,000 NIGERIAN VILLAGERS

A smile on their faces is priceless...  NO ELON, NO BIL GATES INVOLVED
It belongs to them https://www.builtwithbitcoin.org/family

I don't really know any of them except this guy Ray who started Paxful and have scene him in every other bitcoin related conference summit etc. Seems like he's doing many good things.

The project, funded with bitcoin, provided the Igbaruku village with clean water, where the community previously had to travel miles to reach a contaminated water source.

“At the Built With Bitcoin Foundation, we operate all around the world to provide communities with clean water, access to quality education, sustainable farming, and humanitarian support, all powered by Bitcoin,” said Yusuf Nessary, co-founder & director of philanthropy at Built With Bitcoin.

So this is what a Bitcoin faucet is?

Jokes aside, this is heartwarming to see.
2320  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will You Turn Down Your Old Friend on: August 18, 2022, 04:22:54 PM
THIS IS THE SITUATION: You are undergoing treatment for gambling addiction for two months already and only your family knows it, then one day one of your long-time buddies who you used to accompany to gamble in casinos wants to treat you for a night in a casino, and you have not seen each other for a very long time and he just want to reminisce old times.
Will you turn him down or agree to go to the casino for old time's sake.

Of course turn him down. And if he knew about your gambling addiction then he also is a terrible friend for trying to sabotage your healing process. As far as friendship goes, that man is no friend to you and you should stay away from him, as he is toxic to your mental health.

However since you mentioned that only your family knows it, in this case you should tell your friend what you are going through. If he is supportive then that is a good friend. If he still tries to convince you to gamble again then keep away from him.

You are the only one in control. There will be temptation from all sides. Hopefully you can ignore that temptation and go about your day.

Good luck.
