2181  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My worst day in gambling on: September 25, 2022, 11:46:45 PM
I believe everybody has their worst day in gambling especially if you started gambling early maybe in your teenage age. My worst day was when I used my school fees to gamble because I thought I will make more money to take care of some of my needs in school. At the beginning I was making profit for 2hrs,I was carried away with the anxiety of winning but later the game turned round and I was losing and losing,I didn't quit hoping I will recover my lost. Before I knew it I was left with 10% of the money I started with, I couldn't just quit the game then because I still feel I will start winning again but luck failed me and I got drained of all I have on me.

Two weeks later it was announced in school that we only had one more week left for closure of school fees payment, I tried borrowing, seek for help everywhere but nobody could help me with the money.  This was how I couldn't pay my fee for that semester and went home with carry overs after the end of the semester as I was not allowed to write some exams.

How about you do you had a worst day on gambling  that you will never forget ?Did it affect an aspect of your life and how ?

Everybody has their worst day in gambling and their best day in gambling. Don't let it get you down.

Obviously you do not forget losing a lot of money and it feels bad for a few days/weeks. But at some point you don't think about it and just go on gambling away as you did before. Sure you might win big or lose big again but that's only when you bet big. Whenever I lost money (and I lost my money stupidly and often), I made really big bets before learning to calm down with the big bets.

Find a strategy which will minimise your losses and hold to it.
2182  Economy / Economics / Re: MONEY IS THE MOTIVATING FACTOR, what do you think? on: September 25, 2022, 11:31:29 PM

Many people do get lead astray because its in human nature to be too greedy. I think the reason for that is biological. Back when the first humans had to survive, greed was a great defensive force against dying. So you grab what you can and do not let go, as it would give you a bigger chance at survival.

Nowadays greed is completely unnecessary, unless you are living in a very very poor country.
I disagree - even people who are not living in a poor country are greedy as well.
I know someone who is living a fine life in a rich country and is scamming people around him - to satisfy his lust for greed of wealth and money - what would you call that kind of creature? It would call them owl.

I think we misunderstood each other. Allow me to clarify my viewpoint a bit:

I already said ALL people are greedy because its in human nature. I also said it was unnecessary (but unfortunately, it still exists). If it did not exist, this world might be a better one. Or maybe not. Who knows?

I am not sure what you mean by owl but it sounds like something that might mean greedy in your native culture. In which case, I would agree with you on what you said about scammers. They have a moral deficit.
2183  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 24, 2022, 05:18:56 AM
There may be some folks who believe that there is an "us" that is willing (or able) to be "driven towards green energy," but I am thinking that you are getting your language wrong here.. because the incentives built into bitcoin gives no ratts' asses whether energy is green or not... There are incentives that the energy be less expensive; however, the extent to which any mining operation is going to be operating at "optimal efficiencies" will depend upon a variety of factors - which (the last time I checked) continue to be decentralized to the extent that individuals, mining institutions (and surely pools too) are considering a variety of factors in regards to when, where and how to conduct their mining operations and "green" aspects may well be discretionary - depending on a variety of factors.

I am not proclaiming that you are completely wrong.. but your suggestion that "green" has to be a priority based on current happenings seems to misdescribe what might be dogs and what might be tails - even though they are both present on the same animal.
Not sure we are talking about the same incentives. Mining with cheaper, green energy instead of dirty, more expensive energy : Which is better? Economically and ethically obviously the clean energy miners. I already gave you the source on green energy production costing less than outdated energy production.

At some point, people will start realizing that they can get the same electricity but at lower costs. Thats when big oil starts dying and their lobbyist buddies no longer have incentives to screw everyone over by polluting our living-environment and bodies. I guess some people just enjoy their fish pre-oiled before cooking. Roll Eyes Guten Apetite.  Kiss

Aren't you presuming too much, goldkingcoiner?  Where do you get the idea that "Green" energy is always cheaper?  Might the cost of energy and the advantages and disadvantages of each energy type differ based on location, and sometimes there could be some justifications to operate some kinds of energy at a loss in order to fund research or the development of future energy-related technologies.. and surely bitcoin has a lot of various ways in which energy can be consumed that had not been previously practical. so I am not really disagreeing with the ideas about the need to analyze generation, transmission and distribution.. . .and it seems that we also have concerns about how energy is consumed too.. especially when it comes to certain kinds of consumption that is deemed to be "less important" by some segments of the population.. so surely generation, transmission and distribution are supply side factors and some concerns about consumption has recently been part of what is being considered in the recent formulas too... and also who consumes the energy.. there seem to be some protectionism regarding who can consume what kinds of energy too, no?  and bitcoin is part of the idea.. but "we" don't want poor people to be consuming energy, right?  They might get richer by figuring out how to consume energy in ways to benefit their situations rather than contributing to the ability of others to be able to consume.  I am not claiming to know the answer.. but it seems that arguments are being convoluted and maybe it is not always on purpose... even though sometimes it seems that the convolution is happening on purpose.. and it is not just on one side of the political spectrum, either
I linked the source. But I guess if you live in the Arctic, it would be hard to generate electricity with sunlight or wind. Huh I guess you are half-right. But a few more decades of global warming and we won't have to worry about that. We will be too busy treating daily heatstroke.

Big oil is the bad guy?  I have difficulties with this presumption.
Your difficulties have been noted and will be taken seriously.

I understand various arguments regarding privatizing the gains and socializing the losses, so I would agree that companies should not be socializing some of their expenses (which would include costs to the environment that sometimes need to be sufficiently and adequately considered).. I am also not inclined to privatize everything, so there is a role for government and also a role to protect various public interests when it comes to energy production and also energy availability, yet I have difficulties considering that the energy companies are always the bad guys.. because there are some needs for allowing for the production and finding of resources and the various supply-side factors that you mentioned.

Big Oil is running on marketing only, at this point. People are either too afraid or too greedy to give our old energy production system up for a better system. Like people who cannot give fiat up even though it is obviously becoming redundant. We call those people nocoiners.

Climate change deniers are the nocoiners of science.

2184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will digital dollar be a threat to bitcoin? on: September 23, 2022, 08:31:07 PM
The digital dollar is proof of governments starting to panic about Bitcoin. They think if they make a trendy "crypto" out of their useless fiat then that somehow fixes the problems that fiat has. Namely centralization, verification and corruptibility. The governments and all the politicians do not truly understand why Bitcoin is as famous as it is. They think its all a PR bubble which has gone too far. This is exactly why the digital dollar, yen, euro, etc. will fail.

I enjoy watching them desperately try to invent a trendy new fiat to replace the same exact fiat. Bitcoin will definitely rise to the top and become the global money. Well, as long as the world still exists. Lets see if we don't nuke ourselves and Bitcoin out of existence
2185  Economy / Gambling / Re: Euphoriabet.io NO KYC Crypto Esports Betting and Roulette on: September 23, 2022, 07:47:51 PM
^
Just like the rest. They have the same or identical terms and conditions which they would really be asking for some verification whenever they do see suspicious activity on a certain user which is something not that shocking and any platforms that we do have today could really asked out those verifications if ever they do see those things. Its not misleading just like on what others been saying
because majority of platforms that we do have in the market doesn't ask out verifications before you can play. You could directly play without sending out various informations
but on the case where there are things which arent right then they do have the full rights on doing so.

I think it very much is misleading and honestly false advertising as well. If a casino says that they do not do KYC then thats that. No KYC. Saying "We do not do KYC" but then saying "Surprise! Do KYC or we will not give you your funds back" is very much misleading. Personally, I would not trust any online gambling casino that advertises like that. It does not seem like a serious casino to me. More like a copy/paste casino with misleading advertisments.

I would rather have a KYC casino than a dishonest casino.
2186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto- If he ever made himself known what would make you believe it? on: September 23, 2022, 06:50:41 PM
I think it would be foolhardy for him to actually show himself. A lot of people would consider him a hero and and idol worth idolizing, however there are many people out there who wish him ill. Especially when it comes to crooks like lawmakers, politicians and regulators in the governments. Everybody would one way or another disrupt his current peaceful life with unnecessary attention. Would he really want all that fame and every negative thing that comes with it?

Personally, if it were me, I would steer clear at this point. I am sure he has made enough money for himself, with a brain that big.

A peaceful happy life or a chaotic, famous and rich life where you have to watch your back whenever you go outside?
2187  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 23, 2022, 05:43:20 PM

The last thing I would want to tell kidnappers is about my secret Bitcoin stash. God forbid they steal my coin and buy shitcoins with it.
2188  Economy / Economics / Re: MONEY IS THE MOTIVATING FACTOR, what do you think? on: September 23, 2022, 05:36:17 PM
Money is a good follower, but is a poor leader.

Money will always lead you astray, but it will follow you well.

Any man that seeks to follow money becomes misled.
Money is meant to follow you, while you are meant to follow value.  Create value, solve problems, and do it well, you'll attract people to follow you; remember, money follows people with value.

What's your take on this?

Its not really money that seems to be the motivating factor but power. Money gives you the power to purchase things or services that you would like. Without money you do not have that power. Money is the storage of value, which is the quantity of the power you can exert, basically.

Many people do get lead astray because its in human nature to be too greedy. I think the reason for that is biological. Back when the first humans had to survive, greed was a great defensive force against dying. So you grab what you can and do not let go, as it would give you a bigger chance at survival.

2189  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chinese version of Metaverse will be great for meta casinos. on: September 23, 2022, 05:09:07 PM

just saw this video published today by Cyrus Janssen.  although he isn't providing link to what he is actually talking about. I did some googling which i found these:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-03-29/alibaba-makes-metaverse-bet-in-china-s-magic-leap-rival
https://www.alibabacloud.com/solutions/metaverse

i didn't know how AR differs to VR. Alibaba will be creating the worlds shopping center where you can use the headset and just literally going to experience this metaverse.

In the future i think its not so far fetch after all to play and travel around the world while at home. the way its been described by Cyrus will actually work best for metaverse casinos than what Zuckerberg have in mind.  i think this is where we can chat on the poker table and make bluffs.

Not sure how you think that the "chinese version" of any original will be better than anything. When, in all of history has a chinese version of something shown itself as superior? Don't get me wrong, meta casinos will definitely see a boost in revenue thanks to this and that might make them quite happy, but if the original version of Meta could not pull it, why exactly would a chinese clone be better?

As far as I understand it, the reason Meta failed had nothing to do with the fault of how it was developed. But rather that there was not much demand for it. So how is this chinese version better? What sets it apart?
2190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GREENPEACE INTENSIFIES CAMPAIGN AGAINST BITCOIN FOLLOWING ETHEREUM'S MERGE on: September 23, 2022, 04:34:04 PM
Here is the link: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/business/greenpeace-intensifies-campaign-against-bitcoin-after-ethereum-merge.

They just don’t get it. Of course, it is impossible to understand something when their income depends on not understanding it. Well, this is the difference between honesty (Bitcoin) and total moral corruption (Ethereum and the rest of the fiat world).

I repeat. There is no such an invention in PoS. This is the way fiat currencies and even the gold standard worked since the origins of monetary history. All modern nationalized fiat currencies (the USD, the EUR, the GBP, etc.) are already digital and working under the PoS model.  Where is the innovation? Nowhere.

This is the computer versus the typing machine, and old fogeys proposing going back to the typing machine because computers spend energy. Well, you type… I’ll use a computer. Let’s see who wins.

2191  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Accepting Bitcoin for a business on: September 23, 2022, 03:41:30 PM
Hello everyone

I have a question for the people that run their own business and they accept Cryptocurrency.

We have multiple services online and we only accept bitcoin/LTC/ETH/dogecoin and USDT (but only 1%-5% of our customers use it)
The problem we are facing is our customers send us the payments and we keep the payments in the store wallet (plisio), we don't withdraw and exchange the money unless a certain amount has been reached, because if we exchange the amounts on every transaction then we will lose a lot of money.

and in the past 3-4 days bitcoin was going down a lot and we lost a lot.

So we are effected by :
1- Withdrawals fees
2- Exchange fees
3- Current market prices
4- We can't HODL or keep the money longer than 7 days because we are a business and we have a lot of expenses/providers we have to pay.

My question is how do you people manage to keep as much profit as you can? how do you not get effected by the market prices?

Thank you in advance!

Well, you could always plan a budget in advance and just cash out the Bitcoin for fiat as soon as you make the sale. The rest of the profit that you do not need for your business expenses can be put in a hodl pile. As to the budget, you should have a rough idea of how much your expenses will be. If you really want to play it safe then sell and withdraw your Bitcoin on the same day as you receive them. That way you will not have to worry about volatility.

As to the fees question, you can integrate the fees into the prices. Although honestly, if you use exchanges to transfer Bitcoin, they will charge your ridiculous fees. So use a wallet like Electrum.
2192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How mentally prepared are you? on: September 23, 2022, 03:36:52 AM
I really do not think that anyone comes into the sphere of Bitcoin ready. Who was ready when they first started out with Bitcoin? Nobody. We just tried it and started learning more and more and also making one mistake after another. I think the newbies need to travel the same path and find out what Bitcoin is and what it stands for. Saying something like "how mentally prepared are you?" might make it all seem like a hard-to-do thing and that alone might discourage newbies from becoming coiners.

The only real mental preparation you need is understanding how increasingly worthless fiat is becoming and why the reason is for that. Thats the core motivation to start wanting to keep your money safe. Especially from becoming worthless.
2193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much money do you leave in crypto casino? on: September 23, 2022, 02:50:53 AM
Since most of the crypto casino nowadays offers free withdrawal fee on most of the cryptocurrency sometimes immediate withdrawal after the game is very convenient now but for players like me that usually play on irregular basis, I really want to leave my balance on the casino so that I can play immediately whenever I like.

I only leave money on casino balance if it’s less than 1000$ or less but this is only applicable on casino that I used for more than a year.

What about you guys? Do you leave your balance in your casino balance or you withdraw immediately regardless of the reputation of the casino?

I don't leave any balance on the casino as 99% of the times I lose all of the money that I have allocated for playing. In the rare 1% case where I win also withdraw immediately my money as I have the opinion that money stays better in a wallet where I have the private keys rather in some third party wallet where I don't own the private keys despite the casino being one of the most reputable ones or the most reputable one.

I have been burned by CEX.io centralized exchange where they have frozen my funds by their will despite me proving them all evidence that my funds come from mining so I don't leave money or balance in any other place that is a wallet in my full control,I learned the hard way but better late than ever.

I agree. Leaving money on any centralized platform, whether a crypto gambling casino or some exchange will always lead to problems. Not your keys, not your coins.

However I am amazed and sad that something like that happened to you. I wonder why the froze your account despite your evidence? Were they even legally allowed to just do that? If you believe that you have been wronged and want your money back then maybe you should talk to a lawyer or something? I cannot really give you any advice as you are the only one who knows what happened.

Hope you get your money back, though! Centralized services are never to be trusted! Decentralization was invented to fight against those types of dirty tactics...
2194  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Twitch To Ban Gambling Streaming By October 18th. on: September 23, 2022, 02:23:10 AM

~snip

What do you guys think of this development?
According to the published article, the reason for the ban is due to backlash they(Twitch) received from influencers.

Do you think backlash received from influencers is enough reason for Twitch to ban gambling streaming on their platform?

I am a bit worried at this development, to be honest. Not only is twitch shooting themselves in the foot by banning a large audience as well as many infliencers, but they are also destroying an important part of the gambling casinos cash-flow. I think bigger online gambling casinos won't bother this as much as it will the smaller casinos trying to make names for themselves. Marketing tactics will have to become a bit sneakier. I wonder what kind of marketing the casinos will go for next, once gambling streams become completely regulated away  Huh
2195  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to choose an online casino? on: September 23, 2022, 12:00:45 AM
the current problem is that when someone goes to google to do research they will find many casino review sites but they are sites of people who because they were paid will write good things about the casino even if the casino is a scam, that's why many people are still using scam casinos. and only after being tricked and robbed and people discovering this forum

Going to review sites is not and has never been considered doing research. Its a lazy way to buy into a scam. Someone, in this case, a third party review is going to tell me which casinos are best? Sorry Thats not going to work. I would not trust them to tell me the truth but rather try to sell me their endorsed scam.

But no need to grow anxious, there is a better way of finding good casinos. You first of all search for negative reviews. Nobody pays for other people to post negative reviews. Those can be widely trusted. After that you visit the gambling site and go through their rules (terms and conditions) and have a look at whos running the casino, whether they have a license and if need be, they would have a social media or telegram channel you can ask questions on.

2196  Economy / Economics / Re: Will crypto jobs make government jobs irrelevant in the near future? on: September 22, 2022, 11:01:51 PM
I think that at most, and speaking completely out of my imagination, in such a case as you described, we would probably invent a new kind of decentralized government for crypto. That would be really neat. Incorruptible, automated and decentralized democracy. That is really the next stage we need to improve our democratic system, if you ask me. Hell, even things like Visas should be decentralized to stamp out forgeries. There is so much new potential that has not been explored yet. But I have no doubts that it will be implemented someday in the future, hopefully soon.
Blockchain used in political stuff would be amazing. Right now the spending that governments do could be seen in some websites but for some reason people do not really prioritize that for elections, if the part that wants to become the ruling part, and the part that is ruling part all attacked each other on which one spends money where, and who gets paid how etc etc, the money that goes in and out, then we would have a chance.

Blockchain could help that, that way everyone would know who spends money on what, and everyone would be more careful, all politicians would be careful about where they are getting money and where they are spending it as well.

The old phrase "Don't trust, verify" would become an entirely new meaning in the world of future politics. No more scandels, no more voting fraud or sham politicians winning over votes with shady methods. Blockchain could indeed become a very powerful tool. The democratic system that we have now has been cracked, has so many loopholes and insane, unneeded and unecessary bureaucracy attached to it, that we as a species should not be trying to make it harder for ourselves by doing things by the same old ways that we are used to. We really should think a step further and implement blockchain in politics.

2198  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gacha Game on: September 22, 2022, 05:03:04 AM
Anyone here played games like FGO, Epic Seven, or Summoners War before? Do you consider it to be some kind of gambling addiction if a player whales or spend tons of money in the game just to get a certain item?

For those who don't know, a gacha game is a genre of video game where players pull, spin, or roll using an in-game currency to receive a random item. That item can be something that could make their characters stronger or sometimes it's just some limited skin which has no effect other than to make their characters look cooler.

Personally, I have never had the pleasure of trying out "Gacha Games" but it does ring a bell. I think it has to do with Japanese gambling that was modified due to Japan's extremely strict gambling laws. They basically found a loop-hole in the law to make sure the payout was not in cash but in a token which you could then use to "purchase" certain prizes, like bars of gold (Which you could then exchange for actual money). It seems like a silly grey area that they should have gotten rid of already but the Japanese seem to enjoy gambling too much to close down the concept of Gacha...

Personally I would steer clear. Why? Because those tokens can become completely worthless the moment vendors decide not to accept them any longer.
2199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to choose an online casino? on: September 22, 2022, 04:55:41 AM
choosing the right online gambling casino? That may be a bit difficult due to how much research you should do before trusting them (or anyone running centralized services) with your funds. Bitcointalk is a very active and morally conscious place and we have a very active sub-forum for gambling. So everybody is always looking out for bad and good casinos. A lot of data can be found in this sub-forum. Other than researching, I guess I would have to say you need to try a few casinos out for yourself if you want to understand when you find a "good one". Its all a subjective experience.
2200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nobel prize for Satoshi. on: September 22, 2022, 04:28:18 AM
Satoshi Nakamoto does indeed deserve a nobel prize in economics for the discovery of next-gen money. I think he has given the people part of their freedom back and that is worth so much to me that its indescribable. If we knew his identity he probably would have already gotten one. But I do not think that faceless anonymous people with fake names get awarded nobel prizes. Which, is a wrong way to think. I would want to honor Satoshi Nakamoto either way. Even if he is just a "decentralized being".

If you really think about it, shouldn't we all be striving towards his attitude of "I don't need nor want fame, power or wealth. This invention is for the people Do what you will with it".
