And then the last one should read: Get liquidated because you fucked yourself trading derivatives.

Seriously, it should have ended at hodl. I would have saved myself so much headache and loss of coin if I hadn't traded deriviates. I would have had a Lambo by now - FFS.
2443  Economy / Gambling / Re: Good gambling tipster on: July 19, 2022, 08:35:40 PM
Nope, we don't know him. I guess the person on the video is either you or someone you know that you would want to advertise here at the forum.

PS. I don't think is that great for me to be convinced to bet on GSW. Also, I think he is a warriors fans

Exactly what I was thinking. I doubt anyone is going to fall for this scammy marketing tactic. Most people here know better than to trust some youtube tipster/influencer with their hard earned money. And those who did, lost their money and learned a painful lesson that they will not soon forget.

In fact, I am starting to believe that these anonymous newbie tips on influencers and tipsters should be banned or at least deleted from the Bitcointalk forum. Its extremely annoying and obviously shady.

Have some decency, OP. Don't promote these charlatans and false seers.

One could argue those two labels should be reversed:

BTC Hodlers: Not giving a shit and relaxing in life even if others think they are crazy.

Celcius: Trying to put on a pretty face; pretending to be a bank whilst it's a load of bollocks you are better off without and would only cost you money in the long run.

Perhaps. But what I was going by was:

He looks homeless, has got his tit out in his ripped shirt (or maybe thats just the lighting) and has a pained expression. Like a hobo who got beat up, robbed and thrown into the fountain. In contrast, the girls are having a wonderful time.
2445  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Man lost everything to Crypto on: July 19, 2022, 08:10:58 PM
Real-time incident of an user who trained himself to be a trader. Got addicted and lost everything. Steven is the person who kept adding more cryptocurrency to his portfolio. In an interview he mentioned drug, cryptocurrency and alcohol has destroyed his life. In the beginning Steven knew what he's doing. Later he ended up losing around 5-10 bitcoins. He don't know any information about the addresses and now struggling to recover it.

He says trading is gambling. He has learnt by his own and has always been a good trader. Now he spends day in one of the rehabilitation centre in Scotland.

Data : Man Lost Everything to Crypto

He says trading is gambling? Lol. Maybe it was his other questionable and risky life choices which made him a bad trader?

I think he should have gotten rid of his bad risk behaviour before blaming his utter Bitcoin loss on cryptocurrency trading instead of on his All-In With A Bad Hand and No Guts No Glory attitude.

Seriously, he is just a bad gambler, not a trader. And if he thinks he can smear crypto then we have many successful traders who can prove him wrong. Someone should teach him how to DCA.

2447  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Cost to Mine 1 BTC in every country on: July 19, 2022, 12:00:43 PM

Kazakhstan was never ranked number 1, and with current events there I think it will be close to impossible to rank 1 even if we break the US by states.

I was under the impression that China was proxying its Bitcoin mining to Kasachstan as its nearest neighbor. Maybe I was wrong in thinking that? Or perhaps I was thinking of something else.

I agree with the current events being extremely detrimental to the mining potential in Kasachstan. Not only did they suffer power outages and political conflict with a coup attempt shortly before the start of Russia's war in Ukraine.

I do still have hopes for the potential in Kasachstan.
2448  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Cost to Mine 1 BTC in every country on: July 19, 2022, 01:13:05 AM
Just came across this, published last month, but don't recall seeing anything like it on the forum, so just sharing.

Original article by 911 Metallurgist, it's got the rates for some other crypto too but I'm just going to share the one for Bitcoin: Cost to mine 1 Bitcoin in every country.

I knew Asia was expensive, but not THAT expensive. Also, I think this is the cost of grid electricity. I know in my part of the world, for example, some miners want to experiment with natural gas generators. Far, far cheaper, no one would plug into the grid!

Kuwait, though!

Interesting. And yet most mining as far as I know comes from Kasachstan? I wonder if there will be a shift soon? I do have a problem with the flimsy methodology on the calculations. Mining costs are not only electricity+miners. They completely ignored internet costs, the renting of mining space, various business and regulatory fees (licenses), etc?

Also, North Korea? Really?  Grin Grin Grin - Oh boy, they did not calculate the most important costs of mining in NK: the costs to smuggle the hardware and yourself in, the bribe money for the soldiers to keep quiet and ultimately the price of a single bullet for one's own execution.  Roll Eyes Tongue

Anyway, not a serious "study". Just a gimmick with a nice chart.
2449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whitepaper says "We" on: July 18, 2022, 08:13:48 PM
By we, does he mention each and everyone of us or the group he was working on with to make Bitcoin?
I see he have mentioned "we" 20 times in the whitepaper. Just putting a screenshot of conclusion, page 8 of Bitcoin Whitepaper.

Maybe he means the royal "we"? Tongue Obviously he is royalty to us at this point.

But jokes aside, I do not see why there shouldn't have been an entire team working on Bitcoin. As much as we like to think that Satoshi Nakamoto was one individual it could have been an entire team of n amount of people. New technology with such sophistication rarely is created by a single mind.

Or maybe he means us as the community. As Bitcoin belongs to everyone?

That would be a warm idea, would it not?
2450  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This clearly damage the gambling. on: July 18, 2022, 07:56:53 PM
I really think this damage the trust in the sports bets , or anything related to the sport gambling, i know a lot can say its a kind of protest but still really unclear.
Only in the lower leagues, that's why most sportsbooks usually set lower limits and offer few markets for less popular leagues.

Looking from the nature of the stadium, one can easily tell that that is a local football league, because i believe there is absolutely no way and a player will get to an international level and play that way, its absolutely not possible.
Yup, it's unlikely for someone to throw games in the bigger leagues since there's no point in simply destroying your own career in exchange for some money when you've already made it at the top and could make more by improving your own skills.

I don't think that its only in the lower leagues, despite sportsbook lower limit settings and fewer markets for less popular leagues. I think that there are other systems in play which are different than in the lower leagues because it would not work for the bigger ones. And if thats true then the systems would be more incognito, more anonymous more shrouded and completely made oblivious because there are many more eyes watching.

That might just be my suspicious nature talking but I have a feeling in my gut and my gut has yet to disappoint me on such shady matters. The corruption is definitely there. If you look hard enough to find it.

”Nearly 750 million transactions have been sent on the Bitcoin network.

No government, bank, or third party could have stopped them if they wanted to.

That's the power of Bitcoin”

Dan Held

The more people understand this simple but important truth, the faster we can get Bitcoin to become the one and true global currency. 1 BTC = 1 BTC
2452  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion] Should Gambling be Banned? on: July 18, 2022, 01:50:14 PM
Why ban it? Anything that seems risky and dangerous needs to banned? Lets ban knives and forks and even drinking anything besides water. In fact, lets ban everything.

Gambling is fun. To me, its just an activity to have fun. Its fun because its risky. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose but you need to always understand that no matter what happens, its not a career and its not a lifestyle. Of course there are people who take it too far and become addicted and irresponsible but just because a few such people exist does not mean everyone should have to sacrifice their own freedom just to protect those few.

Unfortunately, the government is like that, If they saw something that they perceived as harmful, they would ban it and make it illegal eventually. Which just makes the situation even worse because now, the people are going to find alternative ways on how to continue doing that illegally. And this makes it even more unsafe for those people because they are now transacting and playing secretly so they won't be punished by the law.

Gambling isn't a bad thing like how they usually paint it to be. It is a kind of recreation activity wherein people get to relax and enjoy at the same time have the opportunity to earn while they are playing. It's just that some people do not know how to set boundaries and limitations. Hence, they fall into addiction. In gambling, it's a matter of self-discipline and restraint. If you don't possess that then you should think twice before entering gambling.

The only things they seem to ever see as harmful are things that are harmful to their own profits. Thats all they really care about. Their own money. And anyone who does not tread carefully is punished by the government. This is exactly where Bitcoin comes into play. It makes it impossible for the government to keep abusing us financially as it has been doing all these years.

I completely agree that one should only gamble when one is able to control themselves and when they possess a certain amount of self restraint. This is something I always tell people, especially on this board where a lot of gamblers lose control.
2453  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Countries have banned Bitcoin; Do you believe is because of criminal activities on: July 17, 2022, 08:02:24 PM

Most countries are giving excuses and  reason for banning Bitcoin is because it can easily be used to fund crimes.
But I think they are afraid of losing control of their citizens' financial activities because they believe being the ones regulating financial activities makes them powerful.
What are your thoughts

The only thing they are doing is cutting Bitcoin off from their own fiat. What does this do, really? People can still use Bitcoin. They can buy and sell things with it or keep it in their wallets. They can do anything they want and the governments are 100% powerless against it.

So what is happening? The governments are panicking. They are trying to do something which has been tried by the most restrictive countries (like China) and it will fail and continue to fail. They absolutely cannot stop the people from owning and transacting with Bitcoin.

The more they try, the more obvious this fact becomes. And the faster it will drive the adoption of Bitcoin.

Let the bankers sweat and the regulators cry. Bitcoin won't die.

2455  Economy / Gambling / Re: KYC casino or no-KYC casino, but with no bonuses/no cashback? on: July 17, 2022, 06:21:36 PM
If you were given a choice, would you play regularly in a cryptocurrency casino WITH KYC, and with added benefits like first deposit/welcome bonuses and cashbacks?

Or would you like to play regularly in a casino, WITHOUT KYC, BUT also without the welcome bonuses, cashbacks and other extra rewards?

The welcome bonuses, cashbacks and other extra rewards are all marketing tactics which in the end amount to nothing but peanuts. And even IF you gather all those tiny rewards for years and years, the amount of money you will lose thanks to you being in a gambling atmosphere longer, will heavily outweigh those bonuses and rewards. There is no such thing as a free lunch and people should not be naive enough to believe the opposite.

So obviously I am all for no kyc casinos, that goes without saying. However the downside is that a no kyc casino might be hard to legally persue, should they rugpull and escape with your funds.

2457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FUD Has Finally Taken Its Toll on Me on: July 16, 2022, 06:38:20 PM
Three weeks ago, I liquidated 10k from my stock portfolio into my bank account. My plan was to dump it into Bitcoin as soon as it dipped under 17k. But now, for the first time since I got into crypto investing in 2017, I'm having major doubts.

I'm beginning to wonder whether Bitcoin has a long-term future, now that much of the world's nations are caught up in this 'climate' hysteria, and want to ban proof-of-work protocols, like Bitcoin, which they claim is harmful to the environment.

For example, the EU recently held a vote to ban proof-of-work mining across member nations*. Thankfully, the vote failed, but this wasn't the first time they attempted it, and I don't think it'll be the last. Eventually, as younger and more 'progressive' individuals enter positions of political power in Europe, my guess is that they'll succeed. And, once they do, the other chimpanzees in countries around the world will follow them, potentially causing the demise of our beloved cryptocurrency.

Thoughts?

*sigh*

Oh buddy, you really screwed yourself over with this. I understand that investing in something as volatile and new as crypto is a scary game. We all went through those same fears until we grew experienced enough to understand the potential of Bitcoin.

What you did was give the whales your coins at a very cheap price. They are going to be very happy when those coins triple, quadruple in their value within a relatively short time frame.

Instead of letting yourself get spooked you should have just invested and walked away for a few years instead of letting yourself fall into doubt.
2458  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: AML - Anti Money Laundering on: July 15, 2022, 06:01:20 PM
Has anyone had their cryptocurrency address frozen on exchange due to AML high risk positive after some transaction from address that is black-listed?

There have been multiple such cases. Not only because of AML high risk positive after an transaction from some address that is black-listed, but it can be for any reason the exchange wants it to be. They can make up literally any reason and call it suspicious. Using a VPN? Suspicious. Having too much money? Suspicious.

If they want to, they can freeze your funds and nobody should be naive enough to think it won't happen to them.

Remember: not your keys, not your coins. Do not store funds on a third party wallet which someone else has access to. You will regret it.
2459  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: The google search results for "1XBit Review" are quite shocking... on: July 15, 2022, 04:18:47 PM
This thread is the exact reason why you never trust any kind of review websites for anything. Especially not for crypto or online gambling websites. People used to look on review sites for ICOs, and then lose all their money on scams and rug pulls. So what did we learn?

These review websites have a business model, which is to positively review ANYTHING as long as they are paid enough money.

This is not how you should be doing your research on whether or not a website is legit and upstanding. I think anyone should realise by now what it means to ignore red flags and trust in the greedy.

Putin Signs Law Prohibiting Payments With Digital Assets in Russia

Obviously he is trying to make sure the Ruble stays above water. But for how long? Nobody can or will stop Bitcoin. Too bad China has not taught him anything.
