2621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and bear season. on: June 13, 2022, 08:56:53 PM
Today I couldn't believe it when I saw:

17% drop to get worse I read the news:

1 - Binance suspends Bitcoin withdrawals — CZ says funds are ‘SAFU’

2 - Celsius exodus: $320M in crypto sent to FTX, user withdrawals paused

3 - Binance.US faces class-action lawsuit over LUNA and UST sale

4 - Binance.US faces class-action lawsuit over LUNA and UST sale

well, it seems to me that the issue is not a bear market, we are facing problems created by altcoins that are dragging bitcoin along to the hole

You're looking at it the wrong way, if you ask me.

Bitcoin's value and its rise in value was completely unaffected if you considered the real value not the additional altcoin value that was added to it.

Sure, the price of Bitcoin went skyrocketing thanks to altcoins way faster than it would have alone, by itself. But even if we lose every altcoin we are still left with crypto's (ironically) instrinsic value. Bitcoin.

So all we are seeing is a deflation of short term value. Long term, Bitcoin is still going up.
2622  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does bitcoin dump have any impact on gamblers ? on: June 13, 2022, 08:48:44 PM
I do believe that the gambling community, or rather the more emotionally fragile and easily manipulated members of the gambling community are in danger of selling on emotion than regular traders, on principle.

When you are already shaken up from losing in gambling you might find yourself in a disordered state of emotion where a trigger such as a Bitcoin dump, for example, can cause you to be more likely to sell than compared to a counterpart trader who does not gamble and is not in a state of high emotions.

So yeah, definitely... Cool
2623  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do You Think Its One Too Many on: June 13, 2022, 07:36:19 PM
I will not mention any particular gambling casinos, but what are your thought if the casino or casinos with good feedback from the community, but with one unresolved scam accusation but from all angles, the accusation is legit with all the screenshots, transaction hash email conversation are provided by the complainant lets say he is not allowed to withdraw his earnings amounting to $100k but from all angles the accusation is valid, don't you think with thousand good feedback, its enough for the casino to lose his reputation with one legit accusation.

Well it really depends just like with any other business whom you entrust your money to. If you go to your local butcher's business and order 2 pounds of meat and he gives you 1 pound, is he going to be trusted by you in the future? If he does this to all his customers then obviously he is a scammer but if it happened only the once then perhaps it was just a mistake.

Same goes with online gambling casinos. If they have been years in business with no accusations then I might start doubting the legitimacy of the 1 scam accusation. Unless I was provided with hard evidence.
2624  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 13, 2022, 06:25:54 PM
Looks like we got some capitulation today.  Volumes are spiking up to near the Do Kwon disaster now and it appears the worst is behind us (for now).  The dead cat bounce to $24K doesn't appear to be holding, so I expect we'll do some testing of these new recent lows.  With Binance resuming withdrawals though, it seems like today's low may finally be in after a night of crypto being ravaged.  Stocks are taking a hit as well, so it begs the question of if the Fed will continue raising rates and winding down their balance sheet.  Unless they're pivoting to a new strategy, I expect we'll hear some news about backing off their plans this week.  After living through the 2008-2012 period, I expect billions of dollars in stimulus to be announced anytime the market shows disapproval of the Government's actions.  In this case though, we may need Fed action as the government appears to be backed into a corner.

Historically, what happened to the Bitcoin price after stimulus?

If anything, short term; the price going to be dragged down by the uncoming inflation from the government taking on more debt. Long term; that inflation will work to Bitcoin's advantage, I would say, as more people start investing in Bitcoin to escape the fiat inflation.

Sound about right?

2626  Economy / Economics / Re: Food crisis coming? What's wrong about it? It could be good on: June 10, 2022, 10:32:25 AM
I've read a few articles explaining that a food crisis is coming, I want to tell you something about it. There will be no food crisis for me.
Price of pasta, price of cooking oil, rice or meat will increase 20%? 30%?

That's all right. I don't care much. I can handle it, just like most people in developed countries. We don't spend much on food, increasing that budget by a third is perfectly fine.

The problem will be with the poor countries, but I wonder: is it a problem, or a solution?

There were 100 millions people living in Africa in 1900. Now, there are over 1,500 millions people there. I know that some people live a in a fantasy world thinking that there will be food, jobs, modern housing and all creature comforts for every human, but that won't happen. We live in a finite world, and the population just cannot grow without limit. Number one rule of the world has always been the survival of the fittest...

I believe that the food crisis scare is justified. Well, for very poor countries.

But they have been in a crisis long before now. And nobody has been paying much attention to them. After corona virus and now with the Russia-Ukraine issue, prices are going up.

While the higher prices are nothing but a nuisance for Europeans, it might spell disaster for those living each day penny by penny.

Saying it could be a good thing is ignorant and petty. Using the survival of the fittest excuse is something that someone with the mind of a 13 year old edgy teen could come up with.

People like that need to be sent to Africa for a few years to fend for themselves. When(if) they come back, they will never think such a way again.
2627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you educate petty traders in adopting Bitcoin? on: June 10, 2022, 12:02:03 AM
I have come to realize that mostly on daily basis, petty traders; hawker stall, street vendors, street hawkers, market men and women, kiosks do transactions often and frequently and they are not amongst the top class citizens in the society. Some are uneducated and are not anywhere near technology to get acquainted with blockchain and Bitcoin. I believe if they are informed and have knowledge about Bitcoin properly they will want to key into it so as to save themselves of unnecessary stress and expenses from banks and other groups.
What's your opinion in educating these petty traders and letting them know more about Bitcoin because  I believe this is amongst the grassroot adoption which starts from the base as they do transact more often than some of the big companies we hear of. Although the petty traders do little amount but it is most often on daily basis.
What steps would you take in drawing the attention of the traders to Bitcoin?

Petty traders? That's not a term I have heard used before. Perhaps you mean retailers? That is a bit interesting.

Either way the essentials of getting anyone to adopt Bitcoin is to get them to develop an interest in integrating it into their business model.

I assume since most of their customers do not care about Bitcoin and would rather pay small purchases in fiat cash, then the vendors also would not care about Bitcoin.
2628  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin to the rescue again on: June 09, 2022, 10:32:08 AM
What we usually like to forget is the fact that the government is made up of politicians. They are just as human as you and me. They have their own faults, desires and emotional decision-makings.

The best way to open their eyes and absolve them of their ignorance is to do something that they will remember in a positive light. The Bitcoin donation is one of many ways to get them to adopt Bitcoin and then they will undoubtedly try to convince other fellow political parties
2629  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Minor Protection From Gambling on: June 09, 2022, 08:49:55 AM
Germany's advanced technology is a joke, really. The only thing which is advanced in Germany, and unnecessarily so, is the buerocracy.

Although please do not misunderstand; I am 100 percent all for keeping minors away from gambling or other things like drugs, which might cause a permanent dysfunction in the dopamine receptors of their still-growing brains.

Their brain growth should be unimpeded by outside interference.

Good morning WO. I see we are desperately in need of a new poll.

Any realistic TA which says we will see 40k soon?

Only my gut feeling is saying so….
Does that count as TA?

I will allow it.
2631  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will Russia Emerge As The Next Dominant Superpower on: June 08, 2022, 06:16:45 PM
I think while we are seeing the outer limits of what Vladimir Putin and his army are capable of, we still need to consider whether or not further provocations are even helpful or just add more death and chaos. Unless everything until now that we saw was just Russia throwing their unneeded arsenal, leftovers from the old age.

Either way, we need more diplomacy instead of more war. Americans prefer fighting to the last Ukrainian in order to weaken Russia.
2632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Let's talk about your next crypto portfolio for 2025 on: June 08, 2022, 12:44:32 PM
When is a good time to start buying altcoins? Is bitcoin ever going to 25,000$ in the coming weeks? How do you plan to start building your portfolio for the next bull market? Is now a good time to start buying?.

A mindset like that is quite dangerous. You can't be flip-flopping on an investment that you have extensively researched and have full faith in. Otherwise you will sell and buy at moments of frightening volatility and not only will you lose money by selling low and buying high, you will lose large chunks just from the trading fees.

Believe in your investment decisions and stop worrying about the "best times" Roll Eyes
2633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin price and actions to raise it on: June 08, 2022, 09:14:57 AM
This is the time to look around and ask: What else can be done to sustain BTC growth? How to increase interest in BTC? Everything possible is already being done on the stock exchange. Where are the other growth points? Growth points in increasing demand and interest. Experienced people and beginners love to play. Therefore, growth points can be in expanding people's awareness and offering new tools.

I think it's time to make websites with prices in different currencies: dollars, euros and crypto. It seems to me that this will contribute to the popularization of cryptocurrencies. Strengthening the popularity of cryptocurrencies would lead to an increase in their rate, to more lively trading, and as a result, to strengthening the status of cryptocurrencies.

I don't think tje future of BTC (and crypto) is in the hands of the individual, rather governments and bigger players because their addoption (or lessening of regulations / finding a middle ground) is what can push it through to the next stage, so us little people have done their part (more or less) and now we need to see how all this unfolds.

I think that the problem is people who do not understand that Bitcoin never was and never will be in the hands of the government. Their regulations are a farce meant to scare the common person into following orders. The more people finally understand this, the bigger global Bitcoin adoption becomes.

It's a simple matter of time. Sooner or later the government will lose control of money, especially the manipulation of the value of money. That's decentralized freedom.

2635  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal allows users to withdraw Bitcoin to external wallets on: June 08, 2022, 07:57:37 AM
As the title says, PayPal is finally allowing their users to move their Bitcoin to their own wallets. PayPal went a long way, from getting people banned for buying Bitcoin using PayPal ( I know few people that lost their PayPal accounts due that) to now this. I am just curious how many PayPal users will actually go for that option and start taking responsibility for their own money. Somehow I doubt that number will be huge, bits its a good thing to have that option and is a step in the right direction.

Starting today, PayPal supports the native transfer of cryptocurrencies between PayPal and other wallets and exchanges," said the financial giant in a statement. The ability to conduct external transfers on PayPal's crypto platform, an image of which can be seen below, will start rolling out to users today and be available to everyone in the U.S. in the next week or two.

Paypal needs to die out.

It's completely redundant and pointless. Between non-existent customer service and arbitrary bans, it basically borders on between being a scam and being a useless fiat service. I really cannot put into words how much I want Paypal to burn.

Although that they finally decided to give back people a sliver of their own freedom back, so they can buy Bitcoin, is very good news.

The least they can do is unban the people who were unjustly banned. But I'm guessing that's impossible just because of the sheer amount.
2636  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever thought of doing your thesis on Gambling ? on: June 07, 2022, 07:53:04 PM

But the mental disorder paper does sound somewhat interesting.
If I ever gets a chance to do a gambling thesis - I will do it on the side effects of gambling.
Because I have read so much about the destruction made by the gambling. People gets into the gambling but like a muddy puddle they keep pushing themselves in the puddle and its hard to come out of it clean. That's my 2 cents of suggestion
There is advantage as well as disadvantages. Make the thesis along with the success and failure stories. This means make a comparison chart to indicate which stands high among the users. Without that just mentioning the side effects like mental stress, financial burst out etc. You could've read more destruction that have happened out of gambling. Same time there is more success stories that have happened out of gambling.

I guess you are right. If you were to think about it a bit more deeply, you could perhaps find the correct statistics on profit and loss of gamblers, especially those of gambling addicts.

If I were to guess, then I would say 99% are losses, over a long term analysis of their gambling behaviors.

If you go even deeper into the statical nature, you could write a mathematical thesis paper on gambling.
2637  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Profitable are Gambling Bots? on: June 07, 2022, 09:43:51 AM
The question of the profitability of gambling bots can be answered by looking at the other bots in other fields of finance which are basically luck based.

Look at trading bots for example: Unless you write your own algorithms then the bot is almost with certainty going to make losses for you.

And the bots which do make money, won't be disclosed to the public. Why give away a good thing? That's like telling everyone the results of a fixed match.  There won't be anyone left to bet on the loser... Roll Eyes
2638  Economy / Gambling / Re: Crypto Bet: A wider Array of Altcoins are being usef on: June 07, 2022, 08:48:42 AM
I think that perhaps the biggest issue with using a diverse array of altcoins is the legal and regulatory aspect. When online gambling casinos use Bitcoin, they can feel safer than when they use some new or untested alternative which may or may not turn out to be a security risk or a regulatory risk. Especially if the coin is ruled a security under the sec for example.

How do you avoid this in your online gambling casino?

Well in that case I would recommend going into psychology or a similar but neurobiological field so you can actually see what exactly is happening to the head of a gambling addict. I bet that whatever it is, it has something to do with a dopamine receptor malfunction.

Same as with drug addicts, really.

It's not good if it happens to someone but everyone has the right to make their own choices.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/kenyan-energy-company-entices-bitcoin-miners-with-geothermal-power

Quote
The country’s main electricity producer has issued a general invite for Bitcoin miners looking to take advantage of its renewable energy facility near the capital, Nairobi.

Kenyan energy company KenGen has put out a call to Bitcoin miners to move nearby and buy its excess renewable power capacity.

KenGen claims 86% of its energy is generated from renewable sources, mostly geothermal from pockets of ground source heat in the Great Rift Valley. Local news outlet The Standard reported that KenGen has space at its new industrial park in Olkaria, near its flagship geothermal power station, which could be rented to Bitcoin (BTC) miners.

The Acting Director of geothermal development at KenGen Peketsa Mwangi said that his company was willing and eager to have the miners call Kenya home.

Bitcoin is going more green, see a country electricity producer calling out for crypto miners to come to their country for crypto mining to mine with green energy, the electricity producer in Kenya, KenGen said 86% of their electricity generation are generated from renewable source. Bitcoin mining is becoming a business in the world that some organizations in a country see that they can make profit from. This will favour Kenya government in earning from bitcoin mining.

That is very nice news!

I always support greener ways of producing electricity. And if you couple that with Bitcoin you can get a nice PR package for two things we should all support.

It doesn't matter where in this world someone mines their Bitcoin. A huge plus that people never seem to mention.

Furthermore more miners will help boost Kenya's economy. Win win  Tongue
