Report details sexual abuse by more than 300 priests in Pennsylvania's Catholic Church
https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/14/us/pennsylvania-catholic-church-grand-jury/index.html

Quote
A new grand jury report says that internal documents from six Catholic dioceses in Pennsylvania show that more than 300 "predator priests" have been credibly accused of sexually abusing more than 1,000 child victims.
"We believe that the real number of children whose records were lost or who were afraid ever to come forward is in the thousands," the grand jury report says.
"Priests were raping little boys and girls, and the men of God who were responsible for them not only did nothing; they hid it all. For decades. Monsignors, auxiliary bishops, bishops, archbishops, cardinals have mostly been protected; many, including some named in this report, have been promoted."
The lengthy report, released Tuesday afternoon, investigates clergy sexual abuse daying back to 1947 in six dioceses: Allentown, Erie, Greensburg, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh and Scranton.

Pennsylvania's two other dioceses, Philadelphia and Altoona-Johnstown, have been the subjects of earlier grand jury reports, which found similarly damaging information about clergy and bishops in those dioceses.

In the spirit of Jones' undercover video of the Moloch sacrifice at the Bohemian Grove...

I assure you I was never sacrificed at the Bohemian Grove, and Alex Jones is a complete moron

Alex Jones makes up bullshit, and has an aversion to telling the truth about anything... its all lies, 100%... you can literally fact check any sentence out of his mouth and find a lie
323  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Request For Help From P&S Regulars/P&S Meta Thread on: August 12, 2018, 04:01:34 PM
I was just asking for clarification on why some threads were moved and not others... it seemed to me that several religious themed threads were moved, and that was the motivation...

I see by your answer its simply arbitrary based on whether you feel it belongs there... so, basically I have zero rules to guide me, and only your personal decision on what you think belongs here... great... good times

How exactly do you decide that a thread called "Evolution is a hoax" where some idiot just argues nonsense about why he's religious and hates evolution... is more relevant to this section than a poll about religious beliefs... one has to do with politics and society (my poll about religious beliefs is society), and the other is 100% off topic (Evolution is a hoax)

The level of discourse on this forum is quite sad anyway... most posts appear to be made by children simply to increase their post count... I don't know why I even bother

I suppose you have to account for the bias of the source.  Without much effort I could counter all the things you just quoted.  It is extremely biased and misleading to say the least.

To give an analogy, let me use the recent study funded by the Koch brothers.  They funded a study to see how much single-payer healthcare would cost in America.  They are highly biased against it, so you can assume a little bias in their numbers to begin with.  I'm assuming the same study funded by a democratic socialist group would show lower numbers.

Their findings showed that it would cost $32.6 trillion over 10 years.  The current cost is estimated to be $34.7 trillion, saving people over $2 trillion dollars.  Basically, a study funded by the opposition showed that it would save money.

My point is in how this was discussed on Fox News, a right-wing biased media... they say nothing of saving $2 trillion over the current system.  They only talk about the $32.6 trillion number, and "how will we afford that?"

It's a completely bogus way to present the situation, and 100% propaganda...

I personally feel that religious topics should be in the politics & society section... for many people, religion is the basis for society

Religion causes many of the problems with politics & society

Religion is extremely relevant to this section

If you think differently, then create a religious subforum and move ALL the religious topics to the same place... it appears completely arbitrary that you move half of the religious topics to off-topic and leave the other half in politics & society

Welch has posted about Child Protective Services, a distrust of doctors and religious beliefs on Facebook. He called doctors “priesthoods of the medical cult” and spoke in one video post about refusing to get his children vaccinated.

    “The righteous shall live by faith. It’s God who is sovereign over disease and those sorts of things and, of course, ultimately deaths,” he said.

God is “sovereign over disease,” says the man who saw an eye doctor for his glasses.

Re BADLogic:

There is a difference between facts and theories...

A theory is an explanation for the observed facts... in the case of evolution, the theory of evolution explains the observed facts of evolution

A few examples of facts of evolution are:

The change in allele frequencies that occurs over time within a population
The sequence of flora and fauna found in specific layers of earth (ex. all dinosaurs are below the K-T boundary, while all humans are above the K-T boundary)
Changes in DNA sequencing aligns exactly with changes to observable characteristics of a species
Speciation has been observed both in the lab and in nature https://evolution.berkeley.edu/evolibrary/news/100201_speciation
Embryology is another observed fact... a picture is worth 1000 words:

The theory of evolution explains these facts, and the process which enacts these changes.

It's sad that after "debating" evolution for years you still do not understand this simple concept (more like denying evolution than debating it... to debate you need facts and evidence)

Question: If God created this system... why are 99% of all species extinct?  Did God screw up over and over, and have to kill everything with a flood and start over multiple times?  Is God that bad of a designer?

Answer: The fact that 99% of all animal species are extinct disproves "intelligent design"

It really saddens me when I hear of the war in Syria, it seems this war has been on like for ever.
Yet it doesn't seen like peace will every return to that place.
Just sad I must say.

Unfortunately, America has turned war into a profitable business...

If you think Syria has been going on a long time, what about Afghanistan?
The US has been fighting in Afghanistan for 17 years... 3 more and we get a gold watch, right?

The US invaded Afghanistan because of the attacks on 9/11, to get Osama Bin Laden... who died years ago in another country... why are we still in Afghanistan? (hint: its all about the money)

Sorry if this isn't about Yemen, which is also tragic and very overlooked by the corporate media... the media has abandoned their job
329  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do you believe God exists? on: August 10, 2018, 05:08:13 PM
All of the atheistic scientist cannot even explain exactly how the world began.There are so many loopholes about the creation theories especially on how things started from organism to another. Until now, no one can prove who created the organism which began to evolve to another organism. Still, the gap lead us back to the Bible.

That's just ignorant... Science has explained all of this... have you seriously looked?

Even if science didn't have an answer, that doesn't mean god did it... and which god?  How do you know there is only one god?  Is there any evidence at all that points to a god, or gods, or a specific god?  I seriously have not found anything where god is a legitimate explanation
330  Other / Off-topic / Re: Poll: Which religion is the best religion? on: August 10, 2018, 04:39:02 PM
I think all religion taught us good things. It depends on how the person live with it. We can't assume that bad people caused by their religion because all religions are beautiful. But of all religions, i choose buddhism and christian (protestant) because these religions are the most peaceful to me. They have lots of love for others and prefer peace than war.

Without religion, good people will do good things, and bad people will do bad things...

With religion, good people can be convinced into doing bad things

I'm not saying religion can't be good at times, but religion can be bad too... some religions advise people to kill their children for disobedience, ignore medical advice, etc... religion can and does harm people every day

Don't forget to vote!

It looks like there are more than twice as many atheists here than any religious segment...

Way to go heathens!

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest, Crypto investors tend to be athiests and anacharists. How come Scientology wasn't on the poll though?

I made the poll using the top religions, and scientology only has like 10,000 members.  Scientology is a scam for money, and from what I understand, even the people at the top don't really believe it is true... its simply about the money.  More people believe in "Jedi" or "Flying Spaghetti Monster" or "Dudeism" than "Scientology"... there is no point listing any of this nonsense as a religion (although Dudeism is basically a branch of Taoism, which is itself an offshoot of Buddhism, which is an offshoot of Hinduism)

The poll is quite similar to any recent poll I find on an international level.  The largest 'religious' group on the planet has no belief in a deity.  It really depends on how the question is worded.  For example, nearly 50% of people who identify as Jewish, also identify as either atheist or agnostic... so depending on how the question is worded, they might choose differently

I believe the reason you see a higher number of non-religious than you expect is because people here are younger than "average"... I imagine most people here are 14-40 years old, and the many more younger people reject religion

As you can see, 35% of Americans born after 1980 are non-religious as of 2014, and non-religious is the fastest growing religious group on the planet

We also need to think about countries besides America... some countries are 50-90% atheist

The battle is on!

Which God, gods, or lack thereof will reign supreme?

You decide!
Haha, you talk about it like there's going to be some battle of "the Gods". If there actually is a God or gods, I'm sure we won't be deciding who wins. Although, I believe that somewhere in the Bible is says that God gets His power from people believing in Him. Maybe that's really how it works, haha. Whichever God is the most believed in will win the battle. I can't say which religion is the best. I think a religion that teaches people to do good things and respect other is cool. I just prefer when they don't try to impose their religious beliefs on others.

It sounds like you might be into something like Hinduism or Buddhism.  They don't go around proselytizing, banging on your door at 8am.  As far as I know, they don't try to convert anyone who doesn't come to them willingly.  They live quite peacefully with other religions.

I believe if there is a god, it would have a sense of humor... god would appreciate someone taking the time to explore the various options rather than simply accept the religion handed to them by their parents

And another 300 bite the dust!

What percentage of Catholic priests are pedophiles?

According to the pacatholic.org, there are exactly 776 diocesan priests in Pennsylvania, and 300 of them are pedophiles?  THAT IS OVER 38 PERCENT!!!!1!!

WHAT THE HOLY FUCK CATHOLICS?!?!?

Grand Jury discovers 300 Catholic Priests involved in Pennsylvania pedo ring
https://www.puppetstringnews.com/blog/grand-jury-discovers-300-catholic-priests-involved-in-pennsylvania-pedo-ring

Quote
The Goldwater Reports: A landmark investigation by a grand jury has identified over 300 "predator priests" in six of Pennsylvania's Roman Catholic dioceses. The findings were revealed Friday when the state Supreme Court ordered the report to be made public. The Supreme Court judges said the report on child sex abuse at the hands of clergy goes back decades and allegations of cover-ups were rampant although the "individual-specific information" of the priests and their cohorts will not be made public in the initial version.
                            Due to the priests and others who have challenged the findings, the court wants the redaction process to be completed no later than August 8, which is when the 800-page report is expected to be released. If the priests dispute the redactions made by the court-appointed special master, the release of the report could be delayed by a week. Currently, some priests and others say their constitutional rights are being violated because they were not able to address the grand jury prompting the Supreme Court to consider their objections.
                                  America this may be the discovery of one of America's biggest child trafficking ring operations inside the United States, where a Grand Jury has discovered that 300 Catholic Priests in Pennsylvania are involved in a major child trafficking network. Like we've stated before no where in America that are public forms are safe for children, from your K-12 education centers, amusement places, and places of worship.
                         This should really show Americans that the Catholic Church and the Vatican are deeply involved in human/child trafficking networks, and this might be the biggest discovery in the church where 300 priests are involved in a child trafficking network out of Pennsylvania. That bad May that Q told us would happen to the Pope and the Vatican is turning into a bad year. This is only one US state where a major network of Catholic priests have been discovered in a major child trafficking ring, so this evil is likely anywhere else in America inside Catholic dioceses.

It's really that simple
336  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Evolution is a hoax on: August 10, 2018, 02:37:36 PM

Considering there is 0 evidence of creationism, no hypothesis, no theory, no scientific evidence compared to the overwhelming evidence that supports evolution, that even if you think all the evidence for evolution is wrong, you still shouldn't believe in creationism considering there is 0 evidence for it.

Cognitive dissonance.

Okay, let's get to the point. Where did everything including life come from?
1. Creation = proof not generally accepted;
2. Big Bang = Takes into account only a tiny fraction of what exists;
3. Evolution (evolution theory evolution: ETE) = proven to not be possible in any way we can theorize;
4. Something else = not defined;
5. Something else = not defined;
6. Something else = not defined;
etc,.

This thread is about evolution - ETE - being a hoax, not about where life or other things came from.

Oh, that's right. Evolution is a impossible. Evolution is a hoax.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1917510.msg43768381#msg43768381

Cool

''proven to not be possible in any way we can theorize;'' This guy :^) who proved that exactly, did I mention that virtually all scientists from all fields already accepted and proved evolution? Never mind badecker always knows more than all of them combined, he must be a savant, 300 IQ.

Don't bother with this idiot... he doesn't even understand HOW to prove a scientific theory incorrect

The only way to prove a scientific theory incorrect, is to provide a BETTER theory... that's literally the ONLY way

The new theory must explain all the observed facts of the previous theory, and more... The new theory must provide valid reasoning and testable, falsifiable, hypothesis... you must provide valid science and experimentation which clearly demonstrates to someone knowledgeable on the subject that your new theory fits all the data, and provides better predictions of future events than the previous theory... this is the only way to disprove a theory... you cannot simply claim "Evolution = proven to not be possible in any way we can theorize", without actually providing a better theory to explain the OBSERVED FACTS of evolution, lmfao

This is no different than saying, "The Theory of Gravity is wrong" without providing a better explanation for the OBSERVED FACTS of gravity, i.e. why things are attracted to massive objects, orbits of planets, etc... to disprove a theory, you need to provide a BETTER theory... (technically you provide a hypothesis... it only becomes a theory once it stands up to decades/centuries of peer review, prediction and scientific experimentation)
337  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people believe in religion? on: August 10, 2018, 03:11:03 AM
People believe in religion because they were born with it. When they first open their eyes they already have their religion.

Sorry, no

That is exactly the opposite of how it works...

People are born without any religion... people are all born atheists... people must be taught religion

So now we have RELIGIONS that are not western RELIGIONS come over here and then tell us how we should behave
Hail Odin! For the Sons of Odin are the only True Gods! Seriously, why on Earth do you think Christianity is a Western religion? Can you even locate Jerusalem on a map? Roll Eyes

To be fair, I consider all Abrahamic religions to be one and the same... I consider these variants of the western religion.  They are all basically the same with minor details being different.  Judaism -> Catholic, Protestant -> Muslim, Mormon... all the same thing with different words/interpretations... all rooted in Judaism

Eastern religions would be Hinduism -> Buddhism, Taoism, Sikhism, Jainism... once again, all basically the same thing... they all originate from Hinduism

I would even put Jesus' teachings under Buddhism if people interpreted them properly... Jesus clearly studied buddhism and says many things that buddhists say... Jesus mentions reincarnation... Jesus says the path to heaven is to sell all your possessions, and give no thought for tomorrow or where your next meal will come from (exactly like buddhist monks do)... it amazes me how much of what "Jesus" says comes directly from Hinduism/Buddhism
