according to me, your ten commandements are better than previous one.. moses and other prophets were really fucked up.. for me, you shoul start a new regilion with these commandments.

I have been thinking about doing something along those lines, and plan to bring it up at the Reason Rally next month...

I'd hate to call it a religion... but, I have been listening to some of the legitimate criticism of atheists, and it makes sense in a way

I am referring to a couple things really... one is that atheists don't have any specific moral code or whatever... I think some religious people would have an easier transition into being an atheist, if atheists had a book they could teach their children morals from that didn't revolve around a god

Atheists have also been criticized for being negative, without much positive... I completely disagree with this statement, atheists do plenty of good things all the time... but, I'm a big fan of leading by example... I'd attend an atheist church, where we read from our book of logic and facts... then cooked some food to feed the local homeless or something... that'd be swell

It's one thing to say, "Hey religitards, you're doing it wrong"... but the right thing to say is, "Watch me, I'll show you how it should be done"

i dont think that science has found proof that explains existence of so called.. you said that atheism is getting weaker and weaker .. you are totally wrong .. because rates of atheists is inscreasing rapidly.. you should check the rates for sure.

+1 for doing proper research before spouting unfounded accusations

Science is just another belief system that happens to have some facts that everybody would agree on, same as any other religion.

Science is not a belief system... it is an evidence system

Science shows you the evidence, and you are free to believe whatever you like

Science has proven itself to be reliable, time after time... it is capable of predicting future events, which religion is not

Wrong! Science has become a probability belief system. Remember Quantum Theory? > Probability Theory. > Theory theory. Science is all wrapped up in believing it is true because it might be. Religion!

This only shows that you fail to understand science... science is about what you can prove... not what 'might' happen... wow

I have never met someone so willfully ignorant that they will mislead people on purpose

Is ignorance bliss, as they say?

It's not about secret knowledge, the topic is history and it has been recorded:

Here's the situation...

The Bhagavad Gita was written around 200-500 BC? (nobody seems to know for sure)

It talks about Arjuna/Krishna, who supposedly lived around 3100 BC

How historically accurate do you think it could be?... written 2500+ years after the events it describes?  Do you think it was written by an eye-witness?
1171  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why am I an atheist on: May 06, 2016, 12:01:47 AM
the stories about Jesus are also a conglomeration of various myths and sayings which had been floating around the middle-east for centuries...

This claim of yours was thoroughly debunked in the alternative media shortly after the same claim was made in the film Zeitgeist, and another wave of debunking followed after other atheist films like Religulous. In fact, this claim has been thoroughly debunked and to say otherwise means you did not do enough reading, you just believed the claim.

In fact, there is a historical reference in the BG to an astronomical alignment that actually took place. That part is history, so you cannot say it is a story because THAT IS NOT REALITY. Reality has a past.

What about spiritual/religious books written within the last 2 centuries? Are you going to evaluate those?

Zeitgeist made a few claims that were debunked, but much of what it claimed about Christianity has been proven true... don't assume everything is false because 1 thing was false...

Many of the Zeitgeist claims have been proven true

No idea where you are going with BG and astronomical alignment... that means nothing other than they can look at some stars and realize they have patterns... every culture that ever existed has done this... nothing unique to the BG... the Mayans predicted astronomical alignments thousands of year ago too...

It's not about secret knowledge, the topic is history and it has been recorded:

It's certainly not a history book... it's not factual

Like most "history" of the day, it's full of magic and fairy tales... this is evident even in the case of real life people whom we know existed... When historians wrote about the battles of Caesar, they added magical stuff similar to what you find in the Mahabharata or the bible... while some of it might be based on a real event, it's not even close to the real history... everything has been embellished with a magical quality... most of the events were just stories passed down by word of mouth, and you should know how that changes a story every time its told...

It's just a collection of stories, nothing more... it's not history or fact... most likely none of it ever happened

It's similar to Jesus... the man most likely never even existed... its quite obvious to any serious historian that the story of Jesus is inaccurate on several major historical facts... like who was the emperor of Rome during the time of Christ... the bible got this wrong... the stories about Jesus are also a conglomeration of various myths and sayings which had been floating around the middle-east for centuries...

It's simply a collection of stories... that's all Jesus is

That's all Krishna is too... a collection of fairy tales... it's not real

The reason you fail to understand these very simple concepts is because religion has blinded you to the truth of reality

Speak for yourself! You never replied to the truth of the history of the Bhagavad Gita! Reality has a past (history) and you choose to deny it wholesale!

You balk at examining 1000 religions yet you NEVER DARE to examine this ONE, even though I posted a VIDEO that you can just sit back and absorb.

I posted it April 13th and I still await your educated reply, yet you still sit here and tell us you have done your "due diligence"? How can that be?

I've read much of the Bhagavad Gita, it's as much bullshit as the rest of them... Hindu's aren't any better at inventing gods than other religions

The only decent 'religious' book I read was the Tao Te Ching

I suppose the Kabbala was decent... some interesting stories and thought experiments in The Zohar, but it's not real... none of it is real...
1174  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why am I an atheist on: May 05, 2016, 10:54:33 PM
I'm an atheist because every religion I have observed thinks that theirs is the one-and-only true portal to salvation which means that none of them are!

This is basically my version of Pascal's Wager

If 1000 religions claim to be the one-and-only true religion... and they are all contradictory in such a way that only one of them could possibly be true... any given religion has at most a 0.1% chance of being correct and a minimum of 99.9% chance that it is wrong... (they could all be wrong, 100%... but at most, 0.1% of them could be correct)

I could not possibly believe in all the 1000 contradictory religions, so the obvious bet is none... I bet none of them are correct... and I win at least 99.9% of the time

Humans do not have enough time in their life to properly research all 1000 religions... so the choice is made while ignorant of most/all religions... only an idiot of a god would design such a scenario... so god either does not exist, or is a complete moron... your choice

If I... some random internet dude... can outsmart your god... your god is bullshit

This doesn't matter for you. Why not? Because atheism certainly isn't the correct religion, but you stay there anyway. So, how in the world can you ever expect to have time to find the correct religion when you stick with one that you know is wrong?

Unlike you, I have done my due diligence in searching for the correct religion... I spent 20 years researching every religion on the planet... they are all wrong in too many ways to list

Atheism is not a religion... in the same way that bald is not a hairstyle... and abstinence is not a sexual position... these are the lack thereof... very different, very simple, yet you cannot comprehend

The reason you fail to understand these very simple concepts is because religion has blinded you to the truth of reality

I believe in 2 types of aliens... benevolent ones, who would talk to us and share their technology, etc... if these were here, I'd like to think it would be obvious

The other type would be conquerors... they would likely kill us all within seconds, and we'd never see it coming... so these haven't visited us... at least not since perhaps the last major extinction event... that could have been aliens

FWIW, if you look at that chart...

You can plainly see, that the sun is barely even emitting light at the frequencies in the middle of the spectrum (top portion labelled spectral intensity)
Even where there is no spike to absorb the rays, they are non-existent because the sun is not producing photons of that frequency

The only absorption spike that CO2 has, which is not covered by the vastly more abundant water vapor... is in this range... where there is nothing to absorb because nothing is being emitted from the sun at those frequencies

This alone is enough to debunk the hypothesis that CO2 is causing global warming

Come and see the proof that God exists. Combine cause and effect with complexity with entropy and see that the way these work in our universe prove that God exists.

Let's say, hypothetically, that you could somehow prove the universe had a creator...

Can you prove it was only 1 god, and not 3 or 50 gods working together?

Can you prove it was not the Invisible Pink Unicorn, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster?

Can you prove the universe was created by the Christian God?

Thank God that science and logic are proving things that I might not be able to prove.

Why bother replying if you neither answer any of the questions, nor provide your "proof that god exists"?

Did you even read it, or just pull a random response out of a hat?

Are you a bot?  Can you provide evidence that you are not a robot?

"Me Moloch. Me want this and this and this."

I feel like debating a brick wall would be more productive...

Why are you here?

Do you enjoy spending all day trolling like a 12 year old?

Since you are not in the productive mode, perhaps you should debate a wall.

If you wanted to be productive, you would not be an atheist, or at least would not promote it.

Twelve and under know God is a fact, even though they might parrot atheists.

Why do you hate atheists so much that you literally spend 24/7 on here trolling us, and spreading your ignorant hatred?
