321  Other / Meta / Re: Hey Theymos, There Should Be a Demotion Button on: February 26, 2024, 08:55:22 PM
OP, what you're advocating had been suggested before in certain quarters and comments but I'm afraid that isn't looking like what theymos will want to grant, bearing in mind that he brought the merit system to curtail things of similar nature.

OP, when I came to the forum, I read some comments that said, "The quality of a post is not determined by the rank of members here."
That's an apt response to what OP is advocating. It's the same thing when we expect that every elderly people is endowed with wisdom. No, it doesn't work that way. People get wiser by native intelligence bestowed on them or by drawing their knowledge from the experiences of others.
322  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you feel about high-profile traders making wrong calls ? on: February 26, 2024, 06:19:30 PM
I'll give you two examples: Garreth Soloway ( featured in Kitco a few times ) and Davinci ( early Bitcoin adopter )
They both shorted Bitcoin at 50K - 49K. And quite likely they're both getting liquidated soon.
To me it simply goes to show anyone can be wrong, and you shouldn't be certain of anything short term.
Bitcoin, the Pathfinder and crypto grandfather, zoomed passed $53k today. Those who took a short on it at $50k are in severe pain now, no doubt.

Anyway, concerning following anyone's calld blindly; the first thing anyone should realize is that those making the calls aren't supernatural beings. They're humans like us and are prone to mistakes and errors. At best, we all are speculators in this industry. There's no holy grail. No one knows it all. I don't like following anyone's calls but I can use their calls as a gauge for my trade by confirming if their calls align with what I see on my charts. If they say to short it but my charts say long it, I may not take the trade at all or take it based on my chart but with minimal risk. If they say short it and my chart says short it too, I will take the trade with ease and a slightly increased risk.
323  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Isn't trading almost like gambling? on: February 26, 2024, 05:35:50 PM
Step 1
You trade for $200 and loose it all.
Step 2
Next time you trade for $400 to recover it all.

Conclusion: You are a gambler and not trader confirmed.
Yes, that's true. It's called revenge trading. Those who do it are likened to gamblers. However, that's not how trading works. Trading is premeditated on exchange of one goods/currency for another unlike gambling. Those who liken it to gambling do so because it carries losses too as if there's any business venture that's free from losses. Traders shouldn't shy away from embracing it whenever it comes.
324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you use profits from the crypto market? on: February 26, 2024, 02:29:47 PM
I also have a lot of plans, but other than reinvesting in the market during the crypto winter to buy more tokens and get more profits in the next cycle, I think profits from the crypto market should bring positive values to my real life.
You guys are extremely lucky now that there are various stablecoins. In 2017, it wasn't so. It was either one bought and hedl Bitcoin even if it was obvious it was going to dump or one swapped it to altcoins if one didn't want to exchange it to fiat. Then it was between keeping it more in ETH or leaving it in Bitcoin. There wasn't a way to peg it or tether it so to say then. If anyone was able to achieve that then, you can correct me. If that was the situation now, many investors would be converting to fiat once there's a sign of bear.

Quote
I know many people who enter the market and are very successful, they have huge profits but all they do is invest. They almost forget that they also need to spend and use the profits from the crypto market to make their lives better.
I feel you on that one but then it's their choice. If anyone isn't spending or lavishing on themselves from their profit, it means they want to invest more for their tomorrow. It's still a wise investment choice.

Quote
I want to hear from you:
  • Have you ever been profitable and taken profits in the crypto market?
  • How did you use that profit? Do you use that profit or reinvest it?
  • Do you think using profits is also important for your investment journey?
Number one question – Yes, I've made certain profits from investing and trading cryptos; not once and not twice. I can't count.
Number two – I reinvested some and then spent some on material stuff too. There's the need for work and chop 😏
Number three – Yes, it's important but you've to take cognizance of the time you're taking out profit and spending it without reinvesting. For instance, I won't embark on any spending now that's not necessary. I'm postponing every unnecessary spending till after the bull rally. This is because I know $10 spent now can become $100/$200 or more during the rally.
325  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can you make everybody to win in their crypto trading? on: February 26, 2024, 12:59:09 PM
~snipped~
Exactly. One is supposed to lose to give way for the other to win, and that is not only for trading but even in gambling as well. If all traders are going to lose or win, I think the motivation will not be as high like now.
Exactly! We struggle in life (real life issues) because we don't know what the future holds. If anyone knows that they will turn out well in future irrespective of what they do now, how do you think they will behave now? Of course, they will relax and not exert much energy doing anything. It's the same thing with trading. If everyone wins trades and no one loses, whose capital are the winners going to be liquidating? Again, it will make trading boring. The excitement of winning and the anxiety of losing that make trading what it's will be gone. Anything that easy becomes childish, so to say.
326  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Microstrategy’s X account gets hacked, $400k stolen through phishing scam on: February 26, 2024, 10:29:39 AM
There is daily continue warning of just clicking links as a bitcoin or cryptocurrency investors but yet many people actually continue fall victim for something I will say as a result of gullibility or greed.
A few days ago, someone I mentored sent me a link to a Bitcoin airdrop site 😂. I couldn't control my laughter. Such a simplistic mindset of people and that's greed pushing them to believe that even when they've been told to avoid such sites promising Bitcoin giveaways when they're not faucets. Sites don't even airdrop established tokens let alone Bitcoin.

2. Do not trust any information from social media even if it is from an influencer account or an official account, verify, verify and verify your information.
How do people not get to trust official accounts again of projects they're following? Again, how do you verify and verify your information once it's a project's official page? One can only become skeptical and scrutinize that much if one has heard of something fishy with such projects. Otherwise, authentic information of projects usually are announced  through their official accounts.

3. If you are to engage on airdrops use a burner wallet at all cost.
Not just a burner wallet but several of them. It's a safe and cautious way to minimize risk.
327  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The power of consistency, patience and perseverance . on: February 26, 2024, 09:19:09 AM
furthermore, don't feel that your opinions are not noticed ,they are actually noticed and recognized but just know that nothing good comes easy and don't be discouraged maybe because you have not been merited.
That's a word of wisdom. Most times I roam the forum and find great posts I should be meriting but lack merit for them, the posters won't know someone noticed them. Sometimes I don't comment after reading and other times I read and comment just like I'm doing now. Your post is worthy of merit but sadly, I don't have any merit to splash on it too.

Perseverance is a virtue in this industry of ours. Those reading this who may need someone to keep urging and encouraging them but haven't got any, my advice to them is never to allow themselves become downcast. Keep striving.
328  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Start preparing for the next bear run. on: February 25, 2024, 07:40:29 PM
I have observed that the rate of posts on buying Bitcoin in this bull had increased greatly. I once read that people are always attracted to invest in Bitcoin when the price is going high. We see more people buying Bitcoin because of the fear of losing out.
Wait until you begin to see your local radio and TV stations that weren't reporting financial news start talking about Bitcoin, that's when you see the real rush. I've seen this before and I expect it to repeat itself this season. People like noise, it gets their attention. Once something becomes noise, know it has gone far. That's what happens during a bull rally. To profit in cryptos, buy before others become interested in it.

Quote
From my little experience with the Bitcoin Investment system, the best time to buy the coin if you are targeting to make a profit in the bull run is during the bear run. The price is cheaper and you can make a good profit within the four-year circle. At this period you don't need to rush to buy because of FOMO but you can comfortably buy at your own pace using the DCA or other strategy that suits you.
The next bear season will expectedly be from 2026. It's hypothetical, anyway. It can even start before then, maybe around the last lap of 2025 but not in 2024. So, those who want to get in very early should prepare to start taking their shots in 2026/27.

If you have ever heard the phrase "even a barber can't cut himself" you will realize that a professional trader will never always win if they trade alone, they need a community or other group to exchange information about trading.
I like that barber expression but I beg to differ with it. I've seen several barbers who cut themselves. It's really not a big deal to them. However, I understand the second part with professional traders. I for one, I like the concept of a tree doesn't make a forest. Based on that, people of same trade should stick together to enhance themselves.

Quote
Apart from that, the income of each trader will never be the same profit, even if you trade with 5 of your friends, you will make different losses, so don't ever hope that you can match the income of a professional trader, you will only push yourself to the limit canyon. Do trading with your own abilities, find your best strategy.
My advice on this is that no trader should see themselves as being in competition with anyone. Don't over leverage or lot size on your position in a bid to level up with anyone you know of their trading capital.
330  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Interested to learning on: February 25, 2024, 02:16:11 PM
Hi everyone, hope you are all well. I am totally new here. I came to know about this bitcoin world from one of my friends and he inspired me to come to this forum. Then I am interested to know more details from him. He told me that if I join here, the experts here will teach me everything. Looking for advice from the experts, how can I build my future with this Bitcoin?
Your friend did you good by introducing this forum to you but you've to know and be conscious that your journey here and how far you go solely depends on you. To learn here, the first step is to become active and read other users posts. Veterans and experts may be posting here but if you don't read them, you hardly can learn from them. Many members have supplied you links to read to familiarize yourself with stuff on Bitcoin, I'm encouraging you to spend time on them. Besides, you can also search whatever questions bothering you if you can't find their threads as I believe almost every ground concerning Bitcoin has been covered here. More importantly, stay away from plagiarism. The forum frowns at it.

I'm Trickstern from the anti-state.com forum, and I would like to help with Bitcoin, if there's something I can do.
At least, that should give us a perspective why most governments are playing the attack game on Bitcoin. Most of those who supported its creation never hid their displeasure with the state. Perhaps, even those who created it too.

Satoshi is full of wisdom, am still thinking how he manage to understand that they will look for him one day. He is truly the epitome of genius, he is so talented that, he no one could trace him.
He understood the nature of what he was getting into from the word go. Anyone who's into a venture that will liberate the people should know that the state won't be happy with them. Satoshi understood that and that's why he masked his/their identity from the very beginning and did all that could be done to remain untraceable.
332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum price approaches $3k on: February 24, 2024, 04:53:51 PM
Analysts at the company predicted a 50% chance that a spot Ethereum ETF will be approved by MAY and a near-certain chance that such a fund will be approved within one year. This is a very good increase in the crypto world as another trading market will be approved soon and the awaited miners of this Ethereum will finally benefit from another crypto currency, especially now that dollar has a very high value in the trading market.
I'm sure shrewd investors will remember the happenstance around Bitcoin ETF and how price dipped a few days after it was accepted to short ETH too. I expect the same scenario to play out and weak hands will crash out. However, whatever happens, whether ETH ETF is approved or not I believe ETH will soar in price to beat its ATH of $4,800+ to set a fresh record. Truth be told, ETH is undervalued to the best of my perspicacity. I think it should be looking the way of $10k per coin.
333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reddit has invested in crypto: the beginning of a new crypto wave? on: February 24, 2024, 02:52:33 PM
Reddit having its own token doesn't surprise me at all because I knew it was a matter of time before that happens. That's even becoming a trend now with crypto sites going into creating their own tokens. We're beginning to see that with Coingecko (Candies), Cryptorank (Spaceships), CMC coming up with various reward bonuses and claims on daily basis. I won't be surprised tomorrow too when these ones decide to float their tokens too. They've the numbers and I believe, patronage, too and on hype they can easily grab enough community following.
334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much have you made from airdrops this year, got PIXEL? on: February 24, 2024, 01:51:58 PM
Well so far these are the tokens Ive got from airdrops that Ive participated last year. Ive got some other airdrops but some of them are really just for gas money or not worth to hold on.
At some point, Mavia got really interesting with its price. I believe it will revert and do more than its ATH during the bull rally. I won't write it off or any of those tokens you've got there too. They may not worth much now but trust me they've fundamentals that can turn their prices up and give unbelievable ROI. I got Altlayer too from staking, though not much. I missed out on Mavia and others even though I heard a lot about Facana while it was on. I think people should pay attention to airdrops and mining apps, especially those that won't go against their principle. This season seems to be favourable to airdrops. Who won't like freebies?
335  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Afta excitement, reality go set in on: February 23, 2024, 11:15:57 PM
With the wey Bitcoin dey waka e dey obvious say e go beat the ATH but that prediction wey people dey give say, Bitcoin go reach$150k I no go fit tell anybody that kind thing, even if na prediction, or over hype.
Dat prediction nor be hype anything. Na something wey go happen soon but you still fit stick to that $80k level wey you wan use cash out. I follow for people we speculate sey Bitcoin go touch $120k–$150k. Even though na speculation, nor be mere guess work like dat. Na from past experience and historical data I take pinch am comot. Na even since last year I begin dey talk am. But afta I see wetin Bitcoin show these few days, I believe sey e go even pass dat range sef. Nonetheless, dis wan nor be financial advice. DYOR oh.

Now, my question be say, based on the post wey you put up, I dey already fear and dey worried say I fit no gain from this year's bull run.
People wey break chalk sey persin wey dem warn ahead, na arms and ammunition dem carry give am. You nor suppose fear, na just for you to arrange ursef keep.

Quote
How much you go suggest make I begin look for to invest for this bull run season? And when you think na the best time for me to start am, or when you think say e go too late for me to begin? Thank you.
Nobody go fit tell you dat wan oh. Na you know as ur pocket be. However, wetin I got tell you be sey begin see ursef as persin wey dey collect salary so you go fit peg ur earnings to a certain amount. Dat way, you nor go dey eat all ur weekly pay. Whether exchange rate dey go up, still maintain dat amount and keep d rest by moving it out to a different wallet. So, ur eye nor go too dey am to avoid temptation of spending it all.
336  Economy / Economics / Re: Isn't it all about money? on: February 23, 2024, 07:00:47 PM
What's the essence of all the hustle and bustle and learning and reading and keeping all the sleepless night? Isn't it all about money?
Yes, it's all about money and making oneself comfortable. At the end it boils down to emptiness. That's why the biblical Solomon said everything was vanity upon vanity. Whatever our struggles are on earth will eventually amount to zero for us at our demise and we become history to others on the pages of papers or word of mouth. There are many who toil but find it difficult showing themselves love by taking care of themselves. They feel every sweat they break should be equated with material acquisition of bricks, clothings or vehicles.

Quote
I mean, we can just learn how to read and write and focus on how to make money.
Isn't that what we've been doing with all the learning we've been acquiring? The basics are what should matter and that's how man begins by a simple reading before driving himself into more reading because of his insatiable nature. Man drives himself unnecessarily hard just to show class dichotomy. Well, each to their own; but like a peasant, I love that simple life.
337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Surfaced: Email conversation between Satoshi and Adam Back on: February 23, 2024, 05:02:19 PM

It has actually surprised me that a good number of solid Cypherpunks have actually revealed their identities. While they're strong advocates of privacy, they're not actually hiding or working in the shadows. The likes of Adam Back, Wei Dei, Hal Finney, Nick Szabo, and others are public. Even the Cypherpunk's Manifesto was written by Eric Hughes. Eric's co-founders of the Cypherpunk movement, Timothy May and John Gilmore, are also personally known.

And they're also not just communicating online and anonymously. They also had face-to-face meetings. I wonder if Satoshi, albeit unknown, turned up even once. Of perhaps one of them is indeed Satoshi.
I think the idea of if one wants to bestow value on something, one should make it scarce is what makes Satoshi's whereabouts mystical. The unknown presence makes whoever that's behind the mask a god. At this point, I ain't sure if he/they reveal identity anything will happen to Bitcoin as Bitcoin has already stood on its own. The worse that can happen will be a few days dip, and it goes back to its trajectory.

~snipped~
Hey is this the JoyID wallet that also been used for smartlayer quest? I think its the same given the color of their UI.
Yeah, it's the same JoyID OP is talking about. I just finished reading posts of some dudes in an online group I belong and away from the project's telegram handle. They talked about SLN (Smartlayer) and its claim that's ongoing. Those who lamented they haven't got theirs were directed to check their eligibility status with their JoyID addresses. That's how I got to know it's the same project.

I saw a screenshot of someone who got over 2,000 SLN from that airdrop. That's really huge when you juxtapose that with its trading price of >$6. It's unbelievable what people make from airdrops. It's very tempting, and that's why more people are chasing airdrops.
339  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are most scammers from Nigeria? on: February 23, 2024, 07:10:35 AM
If you are not rich you cannot start a new business, if you don’t have the best connection you cannot get a good job in a big company. If you are not rich you cannot go the a good average school, if you are not rich you cannot study the course of you choice.. you most go for the best affordable course, if you are not rich you cannot dress properly, if you are not rich you cannot eat properly even chicken is no longer a regular man food cause it is expensive, if you are not rich you cannot think of owning a car or even renting one plus public bus is a topic for another day.
OP, so in your mind's eye you can say to yourself that you actually posted something truthful with all that misleading assumptions? Whether you're a Nigerian or not, you should've stated your fact clearly from what angle you wrote.

Quote
The reality of Nigeria is only the rich can survive.
Really? Well, that makes you a rich dude too. You're surviving, aren't you?

Quote
In a country like this how and why won’t there be scammers even the government are frauds too they are only focused of getting all the money they can to preserve it for their generations. The hardship here is different.
Even the best countries you think of in Europe also have scammers. But of course, no one has the justification of going into crime because they're poor and broke or because their government is bad. It's a choice (bad choice) people make and then turn around to blame someone for it. Hardship is everywhere, globally. Crime is also everywhere globally and that's the reason there are prisons.

This wan na heavy allegation oh. I neva read dis news anywhere, abi you get link make I follow read am. These people wey dey lead dis country nor mean any good for our people. E dey show for their attitude everyday.
