Iota did something similar to this (hitting pause button) a few days ago. Decentralized huh?
3302  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Comelec Eyes Mobile App for Voting on: February 20, 2020, 02:19:03 AM
~

After yung mga flaws na na-expose about Smartmatic at yung pilit na pagtatanggol sa kanila ng Comelec, I can't say I'm happy to read this news. Yes, it will be convenient and faster for people to cast their votes pero mas prone ito sa cheating/hacking lalo na at walang nasabing paper back up to verify votes later on kung kakailanganin.

Two years pa bago eleksyon (siguro may mahigit isang taon pa to complete testing at makuha approval ng Pangulo), pero huwag na nilang madaliin.
3303  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best guide so far... on: February 19, 2020, 09:08:00 AM
It could be the best guide but it's probably not presented properly.

In summary, you are trying to tell newbies to have genuine interest in learning how cryptocurrency, blockchain, and other stuffs related to them works and then apply them to their everyday life (correct me if I'm wrong). To a certain extent, I believe many here are already doing that. Some people are okay with easily giving up their personal information to airdrops/bounties, centralized exchanges and custodial wallets before but changed upon learning the danger of KYC and the importance of data privacy.
3304  Other / Meta / Re: #MeritBrokeMyLife AGAIN - A Message To theymos on: February 19, 2020, 08:23:55 AM
I remember you saying something like trying to evenly distribute sMerit and having a limit per day. Our local must have grown that much to break your strategy  Grin

~
Or Maybe, an option of having another Source for our Section is much more possible?
I know Dabs isn't our local mod anymore but isn't he still a merit source? If so, I'm not sure if another one will be approved. The other applicant (crwth) seems to have lost interest being a MS also.

Something's wrong with your format. Maybe you meant it like this?
  • The changes that happen....
  • The best solution....

3306  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Illegal gambling in Asian football increased partly because of crypto? on: February 19, 2020, 06:33:03 AM
They say partly now because the numbers aren't concerning for them yet but when these organized illegal gambling groups are able to gain numbers again, they will probably blame it all on cryptocurrencies.

~
its too obvious that those people only want to damage the reputation of cryptocurrencies
You mean the illegal gamblers? Nah, they wouldn't really care if the reputation of crypto is damaged or not because of their involvement. All they want is the money they can get.
3307  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Bank Accounts & Crypto Exchanges in the Philippines for Expats on: February 19, 2020, 06:10:28 AM
Wallet: Abra
Bank: Union Bank

Abra because it's probably the friendliest wallet for non-locals. Union bank is one of the banks that supports withdrawal thru Abra wallet and they are the only bank here in the Philippines that has a bitcoin ATM.

You never know. Just imagine kung Php 2,000 yan tapos mas marami pang nabiktima. Huwag natin maliitin ang strength in numbers Grin

Nabasa ko somewhere in the comment section na may malalaking nakuha.
~
Ang isyu ko is yung mga crypto exchanges that like to ask too many questions. Comply lang naman ako, pero nakakainis. BDO, BPI, Metrobank, they do not ask questions.
In fairness to them, bago pa sila compared to well established banks.

For many of us na sanay na magbigay ng personal info, wala siguro problema. The other thing here is yung recipient. What if ayaw niya or what if hindi talaga natin sila kilala? We'll probably have to reroute from custodial exchanges/wallets to our own non-custodial wallets then saka tayo magpapadala.

If ever ma mag-greenlight toh sana yung burden ng pag verify ng ating mga data ay mangagaling sa VASPs and not on the user itself, kasi malaking sakit sa ulo nito at hassle lalo na kung mag-tratravel ka sa ibang bansa. Ano yun? If ever na ipatupad nila ito dapat gumawa sila ng isang system na mako-connect yung KYC data natin together with our passport to ensure that no added delays will happen when it comes to us travelling in other countries. Siguro magiging benefit na din ito ng mga bansa with a smooth and running system to ensure that no dissatisfaction will happen on both sides.
If ever you are going to declare na meron ka nga, I'm not exactly sure how that will work but I believe verification will have to come from our regulators (BSP).

Naalala ko tuloy yung nabasa kong post way back 2017 or 2018 (not sure) kung saan binigyan sila ng form to declare yung assets na dala nila. Kasama sa listahan yung tanong na "do you own bitcoin?".

  • FATF (Financial Action Task Force) - an intergovernmental organization founded in 1989 on the initiative of the G7 to develop policies to combat money laundering. In 2001 its mandate expanded to include terrorism financing. Source
  • VASPs (Virtual Asset Providers) - Includes crypto exchanges and custodial wallet providers

Quote
The data should indicate both the country of origin and destination of the funds transacted, it noted and would be most useful if it were broken down to reveal the parties involved in transactions between individuals, financial and non-financial corporations.

Since the name of the thread is in english I'll give my opinion.

Long ago I joined quite a lot of crypto groups on facebook, slowly exited them all, all groups i seen including bitcoin philipinas keeps promoting probable scam sites services and freebitcoins. I would stay away rather than lose time.
I was surprised to see you here. I thought you were one of us. To fully understand my post, you can visit the other thread (translated) I made in the service discussion board - Be careful of the fake airdrops/giveaways on facebook
3314  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Top Topic Posters of Philippine Local Board on: February 17, 2020, 06:14:56 AM

3315  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA All Star MVP betting odds. on: February 17, 2020, 05:40:34 AM
It looks like I'm the only one who will be voting for Kahwi. He seems like the guy who doesn't really care about trying to outshine everyone else.
That's why his odds of winning is high. Players who really like to win the award are Harden, Westbrook, and Giannis, these stars like to work hard to score to have a great stats in the game, but Leonard.. man, he is not gonna do that but if he will be given the ball he'll shoot it as he is also good in outside shooting.

Who knows he will get it this time around, odds are really good, isn't it?

I guess nobody else here saw it coming, really good odds Grin

30 points, 7 rebounds, four assists (with 8/14 shooting beyond the arc). Silent type but deadly players are always fun to watch.

Congrats to all those who bet on the Klaw.

~ next to Leonard was CP3 I guess and that's a better odds with 100.
He really did well and I wasn't expecting his performance. If only he had more assists (double-double), he could have won it.

This is the first time i saw two disqualification in a fight card Michel Pereira was winning the fight against Diego Sanchez but the illegal blow gave the win to Diego Sanchez ~
Luck is on Diego Sanchez I guess. That means he lives on to fight for another paycheck  Grin

Crazy fights with two disqualifications and Jan Błachowicz winnings by knockout in the first round which i did not expect.
This is what happens when you start thinking about fighting Jon Jones while your opponent is focused on beating you. Serves him right. It's a valuable lesson for all fighters.
3317  Economy / Reputation / Re: KICKICO-KickEx:Legit business or scam in making? on: February 15, 2020, 08:30:41 AM
~
Is this  just an aggressive marketing campaign that is trying to profit on people's greed but is completely legit,  or there are  more things  going on here, as for me this is just a way to advertise, pump, and then dump KICK tokens, as i don't remember any legit exchange having this kind of marketing strategy.
It is an aggressive marketing campaign. Apart from the KYC requirement on exchange, which they later removed, everything looks "legal" to me. Those who received airdrops aren't forced to use the exchange if they don't want to unlock the frozen tokens. Referrals aren't required to pay for any product or services. The method could be something new but the end purpose is similar to what other exchanges did which is to increase their user base, volume, and pump their token.
3318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How interested are you to lend BTC out? Need Your Input! on: February 15, 2020, 06:19:56 AM
~ What if there is a way to lend out the BTC while HODLing it?
Correct me if I am wrong, your business model must be similar to that of a bank. Those who deposit money in their bank account/s strongly believes that the money is 100% theirs but the bank also uses those funds and invest it elsewhere. The bank takes a large chunk of the profits while paying a small interest to the depositors.

Pasensya na, bro. Medyo mahirap ng umasa sa swerte lang. Baka pwedeng idaan sa "more entries, more chances of winning." Grin Okay na ako sa 50/50.

Anyway, I am not decreasing other participants' chances of winning, I am just trying to increase mine.
Wala problema dyan basta pasok sa raffle rules.
