2341  Economy / Economics / Re: Lend at Hodl Hodl: True P2P Bitcoin lending is here on: October 24, 2020, 04:29:52 PM
I wonder if the site is decentralized.
Title already says "P2P" not "Decentralized". There's a big difference between the two. You are required to create an account there using an email which also means they keep your data on centralized server/s.

After looking the site, I notice that they only support the stablecoins when it comes to loan. Actually, it is four stablecoins and the collateral is in BTC. Well, its good if there are still cryptocurrencies that the site will accept, such as ethereum and BCH.
It'll only complicate things if users can borrow cryptos other than stable coins due to volatility. If you talking about adding ETH and BCH as option for collateral, I think it's not a bad idea.

I looked at the borrower's offer and they don't look too encouraging for me as a lender but I like that they are required to add more collateral if BTC drops  in fiat value.
2342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: This will make any positive impact in crypto space? on: October 24, 2020, 03:53:13 PM
Will it have a positive impact to crypto? I'm not going to put my hopes that high but there's also a chance that the masses will be more familiarized with cryptocurrencies when they're introduced to CBDCs. Who knows if they'll become investors/traders once they have a basic understanding.

It's also possible that those who've heard of crypto before might not be interested anymore because there's a CBDC that they can use.
2343  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should we welcome centralized bodies for Bitcoin mainstream on: October 24, 2020, 03:15:57 PM
Expectation:
1. People will realize the importance of a currency that's not controlled by the Government.
2. People will understand how fuck up fiats are - how it's not really backed up by Gold and how Central banks prints them so easily.

Reality:
1. Most people don't give a fuck whether what they're using as currency is just a piece of paper with no real value.
2. The convenience centralized platforms provides is more important than the value of decentralization.

To be frank, part of the blame why BTC isn't going mainstream without these centralized platforms like Paypal is on us. How many of us have truly supported P2P marketplaces and exchanges? How many of us blames the developers for not giving us the same experience as Paypal, Amazon, Binance etc.?

~I gambling Gaethje here tho.  Via sub or via KO/TKO!  Grin
You're not alone Grin They say fortune favors the brave Wink

I will pass the Whittaker/Cannonier fight but the odds for submission win is also tempting but I don't think either of them will try to submit. It's most likely going to be a KO/TKO.

Too bad I won't be able watch the fight. It's too early for me. Hoping I could wake up with some great news tomorrow.
2345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: October 23, 2020, 05:46:12 PM
~ Expecting Chelsea to have free-flowing attacking football instantly because they signed some good players is pure idiocy.
I've read comments before about certain team not performing well because they were unable to get new signings and then there are comments like yours.

If he keeps losing from fielding older players, he'll be criticized and fired either way. He might as well take his chances with the new signings.

I'm just saying that I simply cannot understand what football's turning into.
It's all about results. Most fans today are impatient imo.

Chelsea vs man utd, erk!
Most likely a draw.

2346  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gambling could be used to pay for covid problems on: October 23, 2020, 04:48:16 PM
New tax measures for online businesses have been proposed in almost every country because the Government needed new source of funds. They won't be able to collect much from traditional businesses (non-essentials) because we already know they've been hit hard by the pandemic too. Online selling and gambling have been the most profitable that's why these proposals are to be expected.

Is this essential?
For the Government, yes. For the gamblers, No.

Would it affect the online casinos?
It depends on the jurisdiction. Casinos are only liable to the country where they got their license if I'm not mistaken. Changes in policies in countries like UK, Germany, or Malta won't affect online casinos approved by the Curacao Government.

Most bitcoin/crypto casinos here are registered in Curacao, I guess the answer is no?
2347  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Just a Question... on: October 23, 2020, 04:23:01 PM
Telegram is a mess. Discord is more organized with all the different channels for each topic to be discussed.
Telegram is good if you're planning to build a community of hunters and Discord is for the pro/gamers I guess?

and by the way, there are also gambling sites with both telegram and Discord such as Gamdom.

I personally do not see the need for these channels because most, if not all, casinos already have their own chatbox.
2348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think this is the start of mass adoption in Bitcoin? or Nah? on: October 22, 2020, 05:14:08 PM
Many users are taking this negatively because Paypal is Centralized
But in my opinion, this is better than using a third-party P2P platform
if we will talk about PayPal to Bitcoin trade this is a common trade that scam happens

i experience it before when i need to pay in some website where they don't accept bitcoin
i sell my bitcoin in the third-party P2P platform the scammer chargeback in PayPal and i never get my bitcoin back
even i don't plan to use PayPal anymore i don't a have choice because this is a platform that almost accepted everywhere
but it will be different if i can put some bitcoin in PayPal instead and trade it directly on their platform
Did you just praise and criticized Paypal at the same time?

we all know and need to accept the fact that we cant use bitcoin everywhere
with paypal adoption bitcoin have a higher chance of merchant accepting bitcoin independently
But merchants will be paid in fiat (USD) and not BTC. Paypal will only act as an exchange converting whatever customers pay in BTC into USD. I doubt the merchants will even know what payment method the customers used.

Not your keys, not your coins are one of the reasons of some users but holding bitcoin in PayPal is optional
the same in exchange and other centralized platforms. only put what you plan to use, trade, or afford to lose.
It's not even optional

Look at this:

Do you think this is the start of mass adoption in bitcoin? or Nah?
If merchants can accept BTC payments directly. I doubt if otherwise.

2349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Intellectual pursuit question--POS on: October 22, 2020, 04:58:25 PM
It's not just about the protocol but also about the code.

Ethereum is still under POW protocol and there is currently no limit as to how many will be mined. Any ETH lost from sending to inaccessible wallets or burn addresses will not really affect supply. With time, they can be replaced easily.
2350  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: October 22, 2020, 04:26:03 PM
~
It is going to be a technical fight but Justin Gaethje is not going to wrestle,
It's not like he has much of a choice once the fight starts. He'll be busy defending take downs because Khabib will persist on taking him down. If he's not going to use his wrestling and rely only on his superior striking, he'll lose. It'll be easier for him to unload his punches/kicks if he can frustrate Khabib on the ground.

I actually think he can take down Khabib. I don't remember anyone doing that to him.
2351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why didn't PayPal decided to use xrp than Bitcoin? on: October 22, 2020, 03:56:31 PM
Please don't crucify me.
You would probably be glorified if you were in a xrp forum.

Some hours ago PayPal payment system made some good decision of incorporating into their system buy and sell of Bitcoin, this has made it price to move from it former state.
You said it's good decision and yet you insist on something else.

Basically ripple would have be the best for them IMO, seeing that ripple is the future of cryptocurrency irrespective of it centralization. As a ripple holder from inception, I did want Paypal to reconsider the use of ripple as it stand at the frontier of this era of digital currency.
It's not the future of crypto. Paypal accepting a centralized crypto makes sense though.
Another thing, is it ripple or XRP?

Hope this message get to PayPal team for appropriate actions.
It won't. Post on their page/channel/forum.

~ Also - the PayPal partnership is done by Paxos. Not sure of Paxos status with XRP?
Yeah, this is what I was thinking. Perhaps Paxos team doesn't think highly of XRP or they don't need another centralized coin.

~
I see some opinions on Bayern Munich vs. Atletico Madrid but what are your thoughts on Man City vs. Porto? City coming off as heavy favorites on this one. I'm thinking of another draw in either or both games.
~
How about last night matches? Is it as good as these two? I hope so.
I passed on Bayern vs Atletico and Man City vs. Porto which I'm very glad I did. I wasn't in the mood to place a bet because I lost playing other games prior to that. That surely saved me from more trouble  Grin I don't think I'd mess with Bayern in the group stage. They're just too good right now.

Looking forward for the odds of Barca vs. Juve next.
2353  Economy / Gambling / Re: Mad Money Casino Offering Crypto Special Bonus | 150% Match + 150 Free Spins on: October 21, 2020, 06:02:45 PM
Well casino looks great, I see many providers I like! I see some people have problems due location, I asked support am I eligible for that match bonus from my location (Serbia)...after 5 minutes I still don't have the answer from support!
I'm not sure if you're only testing out their live support or actually asking for help  Grin

In case you're serious about the prohibition, the casino only blocks USA, France, and Netherlands but each game provider have their own restrictions. Players from Serbia aren't allowed in games provided by Amatic and iSoftBet. https://www.madmoneycasino.com/en/static-texts/terms-and-conditions

No you do not need KYC to deposit and play, also KYC is NOT required for crypto players, we understand wanting to be anonymous. KYC is only required when submitting a withdrawal for NON Crypto players.
What is the minimum withdrawable amount and the fee (if there's any) for each accepted cryptocurrency (BTC, ETH, LTC)?

If in case you want to improve the presentation of your topic as pointed by other members, you can buy copper membership to be able to post images, lift some restrictions, and wear a signature. Visit this link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2385104.0

You are not the owner of this platform. You are trying to get some referrals by opening this thread. But it seems to me that no one will create an account on this website after seeing your promotion. You have to promote in such a way that people have faith in you. This type of random thread alone will not change the result.

Because this kind of promotion system is old, and this old strategy has been used many times to fool people. So try to do something good so that people can feel safe.
Easy there. The BTC150 code seems legit. It's also in the website.

2355  Economy / Gambling / Re: Mad Money Casino Offering Crypto Special Bonus | 150% Match + 150 Free Spins on: October 21, 2020, 05:28:49 PM
If you are playing with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoins you will not have to provide documents as a standard. However, we do reserve the right to carry out additional verification if we believe any suspicious or fraudulent behavior has occurred on your account.
It's clear that people who will deposit with crypto and withdraw with crypto they have not to do the KYC procedure. But when I see the Terms and conditions it makes sense to me that when I go to register team will check my age. that means to prove I am an adult and more than 18 years old I have to do KYC? Actually, I can not get these two lines in one way. which is correct? If I play with crypto then why I have to do KYC from the beginning to prove I'm an adult?
This is not the first casino (and won't be the last) that came in here and suddenly changed tune about their KYC policy when members calls them out. As with other new casinos, I doubt they will be checking your age too unless they find your account suspicious. They don't openly say this but I'm guessing they would also force KYC to anyone who hits the jackpot or win big.

^ I guess that comes down to individual perception. Yes, they were both looking calm and that's down to their confidence coming into the fight. There's definitely huge respect between those guys and I bet each camp had a training that's unlike before. It's going to be a technical fight and whoever can endure high level of grappling/wrestling will win. I'm looking forward to bet on Justin. Just waiting for the odds to improve as the fight gets closer.
2357  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: October 21, 2020, 04:10:14 PM
^ I'm liking how Justin is carrying himself. Khabib has probably seen all types of trash talking and online bullying from most of his opponents and Justin's humble and calm approach isn't something he sees too often. I don't think that's going to affect Khabib's mentality that much but he probably senses danger. Did I sound too dramatic?  Grin
2358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal is doing it on: October 21, 2020, 03:00:31 PM
For those who didn't read the article - Paypal, through their partnership with Paxos, will act as an exchange. Merchants will still be receiving fiat as payment. I'm not so sure if that will help spread adoption to many Paypal users. I think it will be business as usual for them unless they will be given the option to price their products in accepted cryptocurrencies. I don't mean to be negative, I just don't want to be overly hype about this news.

~ I'm taking my chances on Chelsea vs. Sevilla draw and another at both team not scoring as back up. I don't know if this is still true today but matches between PL and La Liga teams are usually tight and low scoring games.
Sweet! I guess it's still true today.

I should have placed another bet on MU for a triple luck  Grin

I see some opinions on Bayern Munich vs. Atletico Madrid but what are your thoughts on Man City vs. Porto? City coming off as heavy favorites on this one. I'm thinking of another draw in either or both games.
