341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: TaaS — Tokenized Closed-End Fund on: February 27, 2018, 03:41:26 PM
TaaS has invested more than 2070 ETH, seems the vimana project has huge potential. as Taas team are very professional in this field and have a good experience as well.
I saw taas medium and i must say the taas team is very much active and transparent. I am sure it is one of best fund token. I do see that they have invested in a airplane project.
Good luck.
Well, to be honest, I am not sold on the Vimana project but happy to be proven wrong. It doesn't seem like a compelling use for a crypto-token or crypto-asset.
Transparency from the team is definitely appreciated. But the investors should remember that the fortunes of TaaS are closely tied to the fortunes of the crypto markets in general, so if the market falls, expect their payouts to be lower.

NEM was great for the early investors but it hasn't done anything in terms of bitcoin value for 8 months. Might as well just invest in bitcoin.
You want NEM to outperform Bitcoin in every arbitrary time period of your choosing?

Damn, that seems like a good developer resume, kudos! Hope this helps the team deliver on things like TumbleBit wallet built-in and Masternodes
344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 26, 2018, 09:29:08 AM
I've talked to a big crypto investor in china and they said, the stolen nem will be coming to exchanges soon and the price will drop much more!

Sell NEM before it tanks

Go on. Let's all enjoy these posts when the price is falling, and its reverse when it is rising. People have no patience these days Wink
345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: February 26, 2018, 09:26:55 AM
MaidSafeCoin and Exchanges

Yesterday we were informed that Bittrex are going to be delisting MaidSafeCoin. The suddenness of the news, which takes effect on the 9th of March came as a surprise. The rapidly changing regulatory landscape in the US (where Bittrex are based) is evidenced with the SEC taking a greater interest and more proactive approach in cryptocurrencies. While we can’t say too much about the process that led to the decision (as we had been asked to sign NDAs) the reason provided was MaidSafeCoin’s current lack of utility on the SAFE Network. https://medium.com/@maidsafe/maidsafecoin-and-exchanges-51920453724d

Not the best news for MAID. It is a little surprising that Bittrex still lists MANY coins that don't have a live network yet.

I saw this article in the NemRed Telegram channel. It seems to do a good job explaining what exactly is going on with the Venezuelan Petro. It looks like a mess.

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2018/02/venezuela-says-its-cryptocurrency-raised-735-million-but-its-a-farce/

Even it is very confusing to us when they conducted the ICO and even we don't see any news about it. Maybe media is spreading the negative news about Venezuela, even they didn't announce anything about their ICO.
The media remains skeptical of all claims regarding this ICO. They are only reporting what is 'officially' being claimed.

Thanks for posting the dates. I don't have a good feeling with Gluon, but happy to be proven wrong.

Why the bad feeling chap?
Well, mostly because it doesn't seem like a natural fit for a crypto-token. It seems very forced - like a startup that runs out of funding looking for non-dilutive ways to raise money. There doesn't appear to be a need for a token, or something that is impossible to do without a trustless, decentralized network. I worry this is part of the ICO craze where companies just want to raise money without regard to whether it makes sense to create a crypto-token or not.

But as I said, happy to be proven wrong.
348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: TaaS — Tokenized Closed-End Fund on: February 25, 2018, 08:11:14 PM
Hey, guys are there any more information about Vimana ICO in which TAAS invested? Tried searching for it on google but it wasn't quite helpful.

http://www.vimana.global/

That is official website of that project you can find all details there at the moment they are accepting payment only from companies but soon they will announce for public sale.
The ICO market is down a lot of late. This is bound to affect projects like Vimana, and even TaaS. It may be better for them to try and raise as much institutional capital as possible before doing a public sale.

350  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Oracle Service Yet? on: February 22, 2018, 05:27:45 PM
Is anyone currently providing a standardized oracle service for the Bitcoin Blockchain?  Who?  Link?

Not sure what specifically you're looking for, but Oraclize has been doing this for a while (it does both Bitcoin and Ethereum - some of the DApp examples you find on their website are Ethereum based but they do both). Here's a link: http://www.oraclize.it/. Here are their docs: http://docs.oraclize.it/#home

What kind of an Oracle are you looking for? Price oracle or something else?
351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 22, 2018, 05:16:42 PM
Now there are a lot of analytical articles about the fact that NEM will become a real competitor for ETH. I think that makes sense. In a few years NEM will become a very strong platform if the project will also develop rapidly and sign contracts with well-known companies.

As one who's actually attempted to *use* the ETH platform, I can tell you NEM is much easier. It won't be long before others catch on. ETH seems to have better name recognition at this point, but NEM is starting to catch up on that too.

I hope so because I'm much more invested in NEM than in ETH, altough I don't think NEM is more easy to use than ETH. A big problem with NEM is the adoption of Mosaics on the exchanges, Dimcoin has still huge problems to get listed because of technical reasons.

ETH is not too user friendly, from the beginning it felt like I needed to know JavaScript to even send ETH.

I've used MyEtherwallet with my Ledger Nano S many times and didn't think it was complex.

By the way ... any news of Ledger Nano S support? Grin

Not yet. You can track the list of supported cryptos here: https://www.ledgerwallet.com/cryptocurrencies
And agree with you - MEW + Ledger Nano S is a smooth experience.
352  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How can I lower transaction fee? on: February 21, 2018, 11:02:31 PM
From bitcoin newest source, how can I set transaction fee as more lower?

Some wallet(ledger nano hardware wallet) even provide now custom transaction fee, how is possible?

In Bitcoin you are the one who decides what fee you want to pay. All fees are optional (i.e you can pay 0 fee), however fee is something that rises the chances of your transaction to get into block (higher the fee - faster you can expect it to confirm). If you fee is too low - your transaction may never be confirmed since miners usually pick transactions with higher fees to include in block first. Usually fee is calculated depending on the size of your transaction message (in bytes). You can uread more on fees here https://support.earn.com/digital-currency/bitcoin-transactions-and-fees/how-do-i-calculate-my-transaction-fee

I mean, as programmer, need to know the source about fee and make control of fee's default value for normal user.
Optimal fees are a function of the current state of the mempool, which means it is hard to code it into the static code as a pre-fixed value. This used to happen previously (e.g. 0.0001 BTC fee) but no more at least on advanced wallets. You need to know how urgent your transaction is, and set your fee accordingly.
353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How big can the whole market grow? on: February 21, 2018, 10:56:27 PM
2 trillion before the end of the year.
Followed by a correction (1274th time crpto will die, lol) to bellow a trillion, which might be the last good point of entry.  Then who knows, the sky is the limit
What are you basing this prediction off of? 2 trillion is about 4x the current market valuation. What would propel this big increase that too in less than a year's timeframe?
354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bancor | Protocol for Smart-tokens, solving the liquidity problem on: February 20, 2018, 03:16:05 AM
Bancor is still under ico price, and makes 40% loss in ETH scale, which is unacceptable, although the team does the work hard, they may lack some skill to let investors make money.

If we see Bancor's value based on parity with ETH then yes, you are right. First we need to set a base currency as measure to judge the value of any project because large majority use which suits them. Fiat was used to buy Ethereum so it isn't like this in fact. Bancor is undervalued now but isn't under ICO anymore. It is different perspective of view of everyone.

If you're looking at it from an investor point of view, you need to ask, what's the alternative to the money I am investing? i.e., if you didn't make the BNT investment, what would you have done with that money? If your answer is that you would have left it in the bank, then you measure its success against USD. If your answer is that you would just have left it as ETH, then you measure its success relative to ETH.

That's what most people do. They convert a part of their ETH into tokens like BNT, so it is important for them to measure success relative to ETH and not USD.
355  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Proof Of Location protocol on: February 19, 2018, 10:23:50 PM
position signal is the merging of (at least) 4 "zone anchors" (miner-knots) based on sync time.

So is this protocol capable of trackign only x and y coordinates?

You can get all three x y and z from only three "zone anchors" - it will just be less accurate than four.

https://www.google.ca/search?q=minimum+number+of+satellites+for+gps

They aren't tracking the "z" coordinate in the traditional sense of the third spatial dimension. They are calling their 'smart contract suite' as the "z-coordinate" which is confusing. Ultimately, they are only tracking things on the surface, so just x and y coordinates. They then allow you to build as many smart contracts on this single (x,y) location as you want, each one getting a 'unique z coordinate' so the smart contracts are kept separate.
356  Economy / Lending / Re: Lending program started by CIRCLE. (CRC) on: February 19, 2018, 10:21:06 PM
It has this interesting concept of lending which allows the token holders to lend their tokens and earn profit by the means of interest they get depending on how much they lend. What makes it so special from others is that the interest is received added daily by the lenders.

Sounds no different than any other lending idea to me.   Undecided

Yeah, this specifically doesn't seem special. However, there are better ideas in the works that hopefully might work. You collateralize the tokens in a smart contract with a pre-defined interest rate. If you pay back, you get the tokens. If you don't, you lose them and they are automatically transferred to the lender. It is quite possible to do this today with Ethereum-based tokens (ERC20/ERC721) today, but with Bitcoin's lightning and making it compatible with other implementations like Litecoin, it should be possible on BTC/LTC/etc. as well. That being said, this generally doesn't require a native token or and ICO!

The reason this can work well is that you can leverage up your trades (definitely not recommending doing this btw, just pointing out the possibility) and if you make a profit, you can win bigger (and of course, lose bigger too). The reason it might be better is that it is automated - once you enter into the contract, it is a ticking clock, and there is no need for human arbitration and all that.

If you think you're a good trader, time to prove it with real money on the line as opposed to lines on the chart, for once Wink

Hacker has apparently laundered ~84 million already:
This would give lots of downward pressure ...

https://asia.nikkei.com/Markets/Capital-Markets/Coincheck-hackers-have-laundered-84.7-million-worth-of-NEM?page=2

Ah well. Looks like it's run away from them. Let's get it over and done with and move on. It's going to be a bit sucky for a while.

Yeah. On the plus side, it shows there's enough demand for NEM not to completely crash the price!

Then, as a proof of stake system, you're rewarded for holding, so long-term it should be fine.

Going forward, it is all about adoption. NEM at the base layer, ICOs, Mosaics, catapult, and all. More geographic regions so we have more projects building on top of NEM.
358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 19, 2018, 10:05:56 PM
In all seriousness what do you make of this price action, NEM suppresses on high volumes?

Hacking uncertainty, closed exchange wallets. I'm surprised it's held up this well. The hacker is clearly slipping through the cracks here and there but we don't know what's happening behind the scenes at exchanges.

Something will have to happen on that front before there's any progress. I think we'll be in the doldrums for quite some time yet.

Hopefully this is a crypto quite awhile ie 2 weeks, haha.

Damn shame to see the reputation of the project tarnished.

https://asia.nikkei.com/Markets/Capital-Markets/Coincheck-hackers-have-laundered-84.7-million-worth-of-NEM?page=2

Damn, so much for their 'tracking' claims. It didn't stop the hackers from cashing out, while making the community debate the merits of the effort, like destroying some of the fungibility.

It would be nice to have the claims officially verified though. If true, even at a 15% discount to the market rate, that's a significant amount of money. The people who are buying it are likely going to flip it on 'regular' exchanges for a profit, so you're right that the sell pressure might exist for a while at least.

I think it would be nice to get an official statement from the NEM foundation, even if it is just a simple update on things.

On the price side, the pressure will likely continue unless we have further adoption of NEM. This means more ICOs, more uses for NEM as a currency and mosaics, and likely the Catapult release. On the plus side, as a PoS implementation, at least it pays (even if just a little bit) to just hold and stake.

Is this Tokyo thing important at all...I’m as close to ditching my NEM as I have ever been.
You should just dump it and spare yourself and the others the agony Wink

NEM is old and weak tech will not be here in a few years.

Did you even read about catapult? And the tech right now is more superior than nearly all projects out there

Is catapult actually ever coming?
Very likely. It doesn't have a time estimate for release though.
