I signed up weeks ago and haven't gotten a single email. Is this project abandoned or something?
342  Other / Meta / The moderators/admins of this site are a bunch of criminal aiding morons on: February 06, 2012, 06:09:47 AM
I am making this thread because I was banned for no reason other than pointing out this post in a thread this user created.

how much to have his teeth kicked out and you send me the video??? Huh
while you are at it please how much to ddos the magazine he edits for....?

I am glad im not the only one who hates him.....  wanker i could get more on flippa im just trying to get invlolved with the comuinty but with fuckwitts like you good luck getting new members.

I would like to point out I make this post against the wishes of the magazine.

This was a serious comment, meant to solicit assault and digital attack on Matthew and the magazine. This is conspiracy to commit assault and is illegal in every country I have ever heard of. Especially in Brisbane, Australia, where the user Vual is from. Now the site is guilty of aiding and abetting a criminal since they didnt even bother to ban the user who made the threats.

Now ban me because I have earned it. I did not earn the last one.
343  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Ad Space Still Available For First Issue of Bitcoin Magazine on: February 06, 2012, 06:03:56 AM
Ad space is sold out for the first issue. The deadline has passed but I am finally allowed to post again.

Just ordered my copy  Cheesy can't wait.

Just a side note, the International shipping is $3 in the link you provided, but $4 on the payment form.

It's an outrage! Tongue

I believe this has been fixed.

I just saw the magazine.I like what I am seeing in it,and that's just the preview I saw.I just wish that the international digital only copy is available (as it's out of stock atm) so I can get my copy.Is it possible for me to take part in helping with contributing content to the magazine if I wanted to? If there are jobs available I can look into those (even odd jobs will do) for the magazine. I wonder how popular it is (or wil be) in UK as some content is specific to a region/country in some way?

Who's behind this magazine? because I like what I'm seeing.I hope this takes off as well.I do hope to see more content that emphasises including artist/filmmakers/etc and their works as I'd like to get my works out there as well as help the magazine take off.Is there a 1yr subscription that's only digital? What format is the digital file (I hope it's not that DRM rubbish like on DVDs,eBooks etc)?

This magazine is a collaboration of many people from around the world. We are Bitcoin enthusiasts who want to see Bitcoin permeate society and we hope to help achieve this with the magazine. If you are interested in getting involved, I suggest you PM Matthew N Wright. We are quite busy at the moment so do not be discouraged if it takes a few days to get a reply. The digital copy will not be available for download or purchase until after the magazine goes to the printers.

Can you at least show the date and block id of the ones we found?
"Your" block is shown in bold font at the stats page.

And for your other questions I'll need more time to answer.

I guess it was more than 5 days ago so it doesn't show on the stats pages available. Must have been from my first 6BTC then before I switched.

I am glad I got out when I did then.

A reward for finding a block? What about all the blocks that are found by others all the time? Do you want to receive less on those rounds so they can get a bonus? Why not split it evenly across all those that are helping to find the block....oh wait, thats the way it is already.

The reward could be half the transaction fees which are currently kept by the pool operators.
348  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3600 Gh/s] DeepBit.net PPS+Prop,instant payouts, we pay for INVALID BLOCKS too on: February 03, 2012, 04:26:53 AM
I noticed under advanced the other day that I had found a block at some point. I have only made about 8BTC from Deepbit so this was both extremely lucky and unlucky. It would be nice if there were some sort of a reward for finding a block quicker than you should but I don't think that will happen. Of course I could go solo mining but that would be fruitless since the odds of me finding another block soon are slim to none. Can you at least show the date and block id of the ones we found? Another idea would be to split the transaction fees with the block finder since they are currently kept by the pool operators. I came back because I think neither BIP 16/17 are ready for deployment without additional testing and I found out some things I didn't like about the other pool I switched to. In all honesty, once the BIP thing blows over I will probably be looking for another pool again but I think these are things you should look at.
349  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the pessimism? on: February 03, 2012, 03:53:29 AM
WOW! That whole 10K wall at 5.95 was bought up in one purchase. This person was also putting bids below it that you could see because every time one was sold it would decrease the wall by the same amount. I am wondering if they thought they would have time to pull it. This was a major market force down so I think we are ready to ramp up.
350  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTCServ - [hacked / for now down] on: February 03, 2012, 03:31:28 AM
Wow I was seriously considering joining the other day. I am glad I waited and sorry to hear about all of you who lost coins.
351  Economy / Marketplace / Re: ANNOUNCE: SpendBitcoins down for renovations from 0300 UTC 04FEB12 for one week on: February 03, 2012, 03:27:58 AM
Thanks Jeremy,

Your prices are the best around right now. I can hold off on the purchase until the new site is ready if that means a more seamless process. Can you tell us if your relative prices will change on the new site? If its going to cost relatively more I will definitely order right now but if not I will wait.
352  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the pessimism? on: February 03, 2012, 12:15:57 AM
Don't be upset at the pessimism. It is probably a sign that we are actually going up.

That's a shame, I was just about to buy my amazon gift card but I can wait a week while you improve the site.
354  Economy / Marketplace / Ad Space Still Available For First Issue of Bitcoin Magazine on: February 02, 2012, 11:54:35 PM
We are days away from printing the very first issue of Bitcoin Magazine and I would like to draw attention to the fact we still have some ad space available. Our first issue is anticipated to have a minimum of 2000 printed copies and many additional digital copies. This magazine has unparallelled niche market penetration and there is no better way to inform members of the Bitcoin community about your business. Many of our buyers (including myself) consider this to be a highly collectable issue so your ad will be forever immortalized in full color print.

Inside and back covers are still available for purchase and they will be the first and last thing readers see when they open the magazine. The centerfold is already sold so you should act quickly before the covers are also taken. The deadline for ad submission and payment is this Saturday, February 4. Do not wait or you will miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity. Ads should be submitted in no less than 300DPI quality and based on a magazine size of 8.5 x 11.

Pricing and some of the ads that are going to be in the magazine can be found at http://bittalk.tv/?page_id=280.

355  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox stealing accounts on: February 02, 2012, 01:09:39 PM
It is quite obvious that you are just being immature at this point. I think MTGox is acting very reasonably and they have even implemented the solution that I mentioned and consider to be the most reasonable. If you really have thousands of dollars, whatever the cost to mail the YubiKey or do another AML verification should be irrelevant. If I bought a Yubikey for security I would be happy that they had gone to such lengths to protect my account.

You should change the title of the thread and if not the moderators should delete this whole thread. If you continue to post lies they should disable your account.
This is the first they have mention AML verification in the 10 days I have been trying to solve this problem. The cost of mailing a yubikey is also not the reason I have not done it, its the cost of losing it in the mail.

In the other thread it looks like they offered to do the AML on January 31st. I think you should change the title of the thread as it is misleading.

357  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Report a scammer ! on: February 02, 2012, 01:52:35 AM
That's why you've got to stand your ground. If someone refuses to send first to a higher-reputation person, either refuse to do business with them or use an escrow.

I agree. Sometimes the eagerness to do business clouds our better judgement.
358  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox stealing accounts on: February 02, 2012, 01:51:22 AM
I suggest trying to find MagialTux on IRC. I would imagine you should be able to recover but you would probably have to provide the information required for AML which means you would need an apostle to sign a notarized copy of your ID. If you have not provided this information in the past you might be SOL. I am guessing at the very least one of the admins will respond to you on here since they have responded to problems people had in the past.

I think your title is a little out of line. It implies that they up and stole accounts but yours is merely locked for security reasons.  There is a difference and I am sure people have tried to phish accounts claiming the experience you say you had.
359  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: February 01, 2012, 04:27:45 AM
I see the volume is increasing for the last several hours. That is usually a good thing and I think we are going to be moving one direction or another.
360  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Fear About The Potential Impact of BIP 16/17 Suppressing Bitcoin Prices? on: January 31, 2012, 11:46:09 PM
Can you explain to me what theymos' proposal is?

Sure. Here's genjix's take: Cathartic Progress

Although that point seems moot now that Deepbit is coming over:

I am trusting that Tycho will wait for us to all calm down, eventually review this thread, determine that the consensus is clearly with Gavin, and run with it.
Looks like I have to remind one of my points:
  • I don't think that there is any chance of BIP17 winning because it's not supported by any major force besides Eligius (sorry, luke)

I like the fact that it doesn't uses magic cases and serialized form, but it may have drawbacks too. Also, I expect most people to be disappointed if I choose BIP17.
So I'll repeat: I don't think that there is any serious competition between BIP16 and BIP17. The only question is WHEN BIP16 will be adopted (if no other proposals appear soon).

I would immediately support any plain multisig scheme or sane long-address multisig TX proposal as possible first-stage on our way to P2SH to allow people play with it and get more time for preparing P2SH deployment.

My concern is that anonymous votes could be faked or hacked. I do like his proposal other than that however.
